It works for me for headaches. It works in 5-10 minutes. One flower or one leaf. Like magic!! Never fails
Hi, can you tell me how to eat this plant for headache? I mean whole flower including yellow portion which is present in the center of the flower?
@@javeria1086 I just put the entire flower in my mouth and chew it up. Warning: it’s VERY bitter but it works, for me
@@blueskyeranch6495 thanks 😊
My daughter is 1 I gave her feverfew for fever it took it right away it truly works 😊
I grew feverfew in 2 pots. It ended up barely coming back in the pots. It did however come back all around my yard 😂. Thank you for the info on how I can use it.
They do prefer being in the ground but the older plants do die back after a couple of years but by then the younger ones have been established
Oh, sounds delightful. I really do love feverfew. It's beautiful to look at also xx
I also had some in a big pot. It didn't do so well but when I put them inthe ground, oh my did they take off! And some kept coming back in the pot so I have a bunch of it now 😊
It absolutely helps with migraine, especially if taken daily as a preventive. (It can also cause miscarriage though.)
Yep, as it can cause the uterus to start contracting. It can be used to help with delivery though because of that
Your husband is a lucky man to be with a woman with all your knowledge of how to do with nature. Thank you for be there.
Thanks for the video! This plant showed up uninvited to my garden last year. It was a small plant with interesting leaves, so I let it live...then a single flower stalk came up with the multiple flowers on it, almost like it's own bouquet. I was amazed at the 8 inch wide 18 inch tall plant which I had no idea what it was and never seen in a nursery. A year later and after a winters slumber this plant came back with a vengeance....it is now at least 3 feet wide and 3 feet tall, with 20 or more stalks covered in flowers, today I have learned it is-Feverfew.....to think that I almost labeled it a weed and pulled it out, it is currently a star in the slow or late blooming garden.
I didn't know until you that catnip is good for pain . I knew it's good for relaxation...I'm going to try it...I have fibromyalgia.
Some of these plants just sprung up in my garden so I've started boiling the leaves with ginger and lemon and drinking it as a tea . It's bitter and good for clearing your bike ducts out and your liver, remember anything bitter if not toxic is good for you.
Yes, bitters, in general are very good for digestion and helping with various gut issues
They're GORGEOUS!!
By the way, I hope if you ever do t-shirts, that underneath your channel name you put "God is good...all the time."
Sue Leigh I love that she says that. It warms the heart and soothes the soul.
Good idea Sue! I ponder the T-shirt thing from time to time. I guess we should do that :D
Rain Country The thing is, would you change your channel name if you weren't in rain country any more (you'd have to have tees with the new name on them) or are you going to live close enough to still be in rain country??? (Not that you know for sure where your new place would be!)
Cindi C You are absolutely right!
I really do not know at this time. I would like to stay close to this area, but we are waiting on the Lord for guidance here. Just do not know what is going to be the best for us. SO many questions right now on so many issues....but, we keep plugging along
Compounding it by adding a mint extract and an acid such as lemon or lime should improve the delivery. Look up compounding and I believe you will come to the same conclusion .
This would explain why the extract I make with my homemade vinegar and the feverfew and catnip works so well
@@RainCountryHomestead I'm going to make a balm with it,
I just got my pack of 30 different medicinal seed packs. I'm fixing to check if this has come with. I have wild lettuce growing all over my yards. Talking about Bitter. But this has helped me with Many medical problems. Especially pain. This will be the first year I cook the plants down for the medicine.
God is Good, he gave us so many healthy plants to eat and take care of us. I always remember my dear mum talking about fever few, and about it's pain relieving properties when I was younger. This is very strange.I have a smallish garden. I have never grown fever few. I notice this year on a vacant patch of garden, in fact it is where we buried our beloved doggy Goldie eight years ago. She was heaven sent this dog.and she was part our family for almost 15 years as we rescued her and she must have been roughly eighteen months old. However, there is none of this plant local to us that I know of. Anyway, I decided now to research this plant further and I hasten to add thank you so much for your informative video about it. I do suffer pain, and am I right in believing you can just pick and eat this without processing it. I am going to now harvest some. Oh how long does it bloom for I'm so amazed at it. God Bless you and yours.💐🌻🍀☘️
It should bloom all summer long. I harvest mostly the leaves for using as pain but the flowers can be used too
That Fever Few plant is beautiful!
It really is quite pretty, I wish I would have went ahead and left some growing in my main garden, I just love how it looks with everything.
Great video. I really enjoy these early ones.
My mother had us make capsules out if bitter herbs like goldenseal many years ago. It's a good option. The feverfew seeds i purchased from you two years ago grew into a beautiful mess of plants. It's time to harvest, dry, and vacuum seal. God bless you.
So glad those grew well for you, and yes, they make a MESS of plants! haha
@@RainCountryHomestead I'm trying to wean myself from meds I use for pain....i have to go to the Dr every two months for just my prescriptions I heard that Valerin touches the Gabba receptors which I have prescribed two meds that touch those same receptors and one med that is for other pain that I believe the feverfew will touch but I need to grow the right thing They look like wild daisies I started my greenhouse doesn't have plastic on it yet but I do have the structure up yay💞🙏🏼
Your plant is the reason I ordered 2 feverfew plants grom Growers Exchange. Just got them today and cant wait to plant them! ❤❤❤
Thank you...great info.
I just planted a beautiful catnip starter last week. My cat discovered it and pulverized it. I guess I need to plant it next to my feverfew. Thanks for the great info!
Beautiful flowers on this herb
TY for the vast info
Wow! Great information! I’m definitely buying seeds from you this year for next year! Hope they grow where I live. Love you guys so much and I’m soooooo thankful for you both and your videos. They are gorgeous flowers!
Thank you very much. New to herb gardening.Very helpful.
I grew a pot of feverfew for my friend who suffers from migraines terribly. She chews a few leaves every morning and hasn’t had a migraine in 2 months which is very unusual for her.
Does she take it raw, or does she dry it first?
@@fionnaitsradag5152 raw. I have been taking it raw this summer with a sprig of catnip. Not as bitter. But I take it for arthritis pain.
Thank you!@@venidamcdaniel1913

So much helpful information! I ordered seeds from your Etsy shop and they are on the way!
Tku...great info !!
Thank you for sharing!! Great information that I didn't know...I will be giving it a try
I love your videos! And being able to look at them from years back is a huge benefit. God bless you Heidi and thanks again!
Hi! I had to come back to this video...I suffer with pain and couldn't remember what it was you used in combo with Feverfew. Bought your seeds yesterday of the three available and am very excited to grow these. Catnip! That's what it was, so thank you very much! Blessings my friend of faith and Feverfew!

Thank you so much!
Thanks for the info! Its so pretty! I can't wait to grow it and use it. :)
it is loved by solitary bees and hoverflies great for nature
Thankyou
Thanks for the video interresting
I started some feverfew in the greenhouse. Looking forward to trying it! Merry Christmas 🎄. Wendy🎄⛄️
I love Dr Axe :)
Love LOVE your vids on herbs! I need to get me some seeds of this. You should also research black seed oil, moringa and mullein. These 3 have changed my life. Mullein is just as beneficial as the dandelion. Yet folks keep killing it. Thank you so much for your videos.
We have a stash of both moringa and black seeds. We use to take the back seeds mixed with fennel seed every morning - we just chewed it. I meant to mention it in the video I just put up but forgot. Mullein does not grow around here but the Woolly Lamb's Ear is similar and we grow a lot of that. Been drying a bunch of for my herbal tea blend :)
Awesome! It reseed so well. I have the golden or chartreuse. Looked leaf one. If you would like some seed.
Thank you so much for all your information.
I listened to one of your videos a few days ago, and you mentioned a great book on herbs for chickens. Also different herbs that you incorporate in your chicken feed. I should have written it down immediately.🙃
Thank you
Borage was one of them she mentioned for the chickens
Thank you for the information I didn't know that such a beautiful flower was capable of doing so many things
I am always surprised when I learn more about an herb I already use and/or grow. I just recently learned one of my favorites, calendula, is also a great antiviral. I use it mostly for skin care but have been making teas out of the rest of my fresh flowers coming in
I have never used feverfew medicinally but I like it because it is very beautiful in bloom. I will try to plant more to keep bunnies out of some of my other olants. I will keep my eyes open for when you harvest and sell Thank you for your videos
GREAT video! Thanks Heidi!
Thank you Sharon!
I would love to purchase some seed packets from you for next season's planting. Please keep us updated when the seeds become available. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
I will certainly do that! Thank you!
Is it Artemesia that we know in Asia ?
Thanks for beginning with "God is Good".
Felt really nice knowing that you believe in the Almighty.

No, I do not believe it is the same thing
abc abc Yes it is the same in Argentina and Mexico they call it Altamisa the scientific name is Tanacetum Parthenium glad to know you are a Christian ✝️ and to the vid maker great vid and thank you for taking us into your garden 💕
No artemisia and feverfew are two different plants. Check their scientific names.
Tanacetum parthenium (feverfew) and Artemisia annua (sweet wormwood)
Parvez Husnoo atremesia is feverfew my friend artemisia is another plant and that is what u are referring to as sweet wormwood

Artemesia, Atremesia and Altamisia do not exist and ARTEMISIA is not feverfew it is wormwood.
Do a Google search please.
Another great herbal video. Always look forward to wealth of knowledge. 😀
Thank you Wendy! Always appreciate your time :D
Yes he is
Great info, Heidi ! It's so pretty, it's a shame to cut the blooms. Canning peaches in apple juice (in place of sugar) today. Dehydrated peaches day before yesterday! Will be glad to purchase some of your feverfew seeds this Fall.
What a great idea on the peaches! Not sure I will be canning any this year since we still have lots from the previous two years, but if I do, I am going to try that myself.
Ordered feverfew seeds from you today!
Feverfew is magnificent. Not as powerful as wild lettuce but without the sedative effects.
Hi, new to your channel, You have so much knowledge, love Your channel, bought some feverfew, echinacea, from You.
Ty.. I've infused in sunflower oil to make a headache/pain salve 🙏
Wondering what you use on the ground around your flowers and herbs. Do you use natural woodchips? I was thinking of moving some of my medicinal flowers out of my herb garden to around my house to make room for other herbs. I just dont want to use something that would be harmful to use on plants I'm going to ingest or use topically once I harvest them. Just curious what you use. Thanks always Heidi!! God bless❤
I use whatever is available. Wood shavings from Patrick's shop, grass clippings from our other property, free mulch from trees that were taken out
great info ty n hugs from michigan
Thank you Kathy!
Jesus is good ALL the time :)
🙏🏽🙏🏽🤗
Your herbs look so fresh and beautiful!! I was wondering what you put on your herbs for bugs ?
I do not put anything on my herbs, I have little issue with bugs devouring my herbs and even the ones that tend to get chewed on grow so plentiful, there is no worry about not having enough for us. I always have more than I can even keep up on :)
Great video, as a fibromyalgia sufferer, I have more than my share of pain, and being sensitive to chemicals I can't take most prescription drugs.(Not that I want them really) It's nice to have other options that work! Thanks for sharing 😄
Thank you Elaine! There are so many wonderful herbs out there that help with pain and such. I wonder how valerian would work for you as it also is very calming?
@@RainCountryHomestead valerian does not work well for people on the CFIDS spectrum. In fact, can cause daytime rage after being used for sleep because many of the enzymatic pathways are damaged, like the cytochrome P-450 pathway. White willow bark is nature's equivalent of aspirin and where it was derived from. Fibromyalgia is neuromuscular toxicity.
Your mic is so much better that you are using outside and better for the tone of your voice. You should use it inside as well @Rain Country ! ❤️🌴🙏🌞
Has it helped you?
I'm in so much pain from fibromyalgia and arthritis I can barely walk
Back in Time for review
I have a lot of nerve pain. I like bee balm. My husband bought me a plant two years ago. I didn’t do anything with it initially. I researched it for a year and a half, started using the leaves in peppermint tea and it was phenomenal. Unfortunately I did not put it back in the ground after I dug it up last winter and it had an ant infestation and died. 😢 I have been looking all over for it ever since.
I realize this comment is two years old, but if you're still looking for bee balm, try MIgardener. Hope it helps. ~ Lisa
You can winter sow the seeds also
Yes though this will also depend on your climate and the type of seeds. Around here winter sowing is not very productive considering our very, very high amount of rainfall in the late fall through early spring
Right now I am wishing I planted some. My back is killing me.
I want to start a herbal chest so could you please give me some ideas to add in
It looks just like Shasta Daisys :) oh,, I just read another comment on if you have (t-shirts ) add...God is good, all the time! I love that ~♡~♡~♡~
I don't know if you have coverd chrysalis in any videos. I use if for neuropathy pain. My daughter uses the corydalis for Central pain.
Well this video is from 5 years ago. Do you still sell Feverfew seeds? Love your videos and thank you for all you do!
Yes, I do. Contact me at raincountryhomestead@gmail.com and I will send you the product list
Thank you for wonderful video. When I tried eating some leaves at first, I thought that I had a wrong plant - it tastes...well, not nice. Like you said, not just bitter, but some sort of nasty taste. I can chew calamus root, no problem, but this one is hard. However I heard, that putting it into capsule won't be as effective as assimilation starts in the mouth. I started using wood betony, black cohosh, vervain, devil's claw, and other herbs instead.
Yes, and I could also see that since digestion starts in the mouth, it would also be most beneficial to eat it raw like I do most of the time. It is not good but I have come to handle it. I find eating it in conjunction with the catnip to be more tolerable and seems to work better
I might try that. :)
Thank you for always sharing helpful info.
Just fyi, we put our patients on a 2 meal per day regimen of whole plant-foods and 98% of our clients say headaches just vanish once they switch (within as short as a few days).
Feel free to have a look at our website for free info on this. You are certainly very knowledgeable on health and remedies but maybe there is something there that can help eliminate the cause of your headaches 🌸
I actually very rarely get headaches anymore unlike it was 10 years ago, so taking my pain extract for that maybe happens only once a year. I am more likely to use it for pain from an injury than for headaches
I don't get migraines but arthritis. Hope this works.
Hi ya Heidi! This is a beautiful plant! U spoke of cutting it back, I’d be afraid of killing it, have u thought of doing a video on a how to on cutting plants back? As for catnip, r
there any that r not cullennary? Thank u
You can cut feverfew and catnip back clear to the ground and it will not kill them. They are very hearty, in fact it will encourage it to get fuller. Neither feverfew nor catnip are culinary, feverfew is VERY bitter and catnip, though the taste is good enough for making tea, it is no something I would cook with.

Looking for the dandelion video and the comments on removing warts, can't find it fast, but I trust people read the comments here as well 😊
Harmonic arts botanical dispensary is where the guy uses dandelion milk on his warts
I could not recall when I left the comment.
Oh wow ..I need feverfew in my garden. .I have issues with swamp rats getting into my garden ,eating my baby cantelopes snd such. Feverfew ( which I've only bought in capsules already made) is one of the few things that helps my adult sons migraines
Aloha Heidi, What would be your top 10 Perennial Herbs that you use the most?
I do still plan on doing a video on that as I get asked that quite often. I hope to get on that soon
Everywhere I have read about this herb it says keep away from pollinator gardens because it repels bees and it can repel them from nearby flowers. From your experience, they don't mind it? I have a plant but hasn't bloomed yet. Wondering if I can move it closer to the garden.
I have had no issues, especially when my borage, catnip, lamb's ear, calendula and other herbs they love are in bloom
I would love buy the seed of fever few.
I currently have some on my Etsy store: etsy.com/shop/raincountryhomestead
Is it OK to use the flowers and if so in what or for what use? I have German Chamomile growing along with the Feverfew and it's hard to tell which is which. I have to look at the leaves to identify which is which.
I do use the flowers too even though I believe most of the benefits are in the leaves
Hello 👋 …
Need to plant grapes for those leaves
if you were going to dry it and make capsules, would you use both flower and leaf, or just leaf? I believe the leaf is stronger, but maybe the flower has some botanicals that are beneficial that the leaf doesn't have. I grew if years ago, but then one winter took it and I lost it, but I am interested in growing it again and making capsules. Thanks.
Yes, you can use both but I usually just use the leaves since I save the flowers for seed I seed on my store, and yes, the leaves are stronger
Rain Country,God is good my friend. You keep going back to headaches you suffer from. May I suggest a good gut cleaning as an friend whom you do not know nor have you ever met. Coffee enema and maybe even a colonics one or twice. Headaches should only last a few minutes if you get them, body is sending you a message that you ate or drank or even smelled something it didn't agree with. I used to get headaches that would last 24-36 hours and after just a few enemas (one a week)and good clean sugarless and other junk food elimination diet I no longer experience them other then occasional hangover lol (15 years or so now) and when I mess up on a bad food (parties and gatherings) God is good my friend. Thank you for always sharing your wonderful ideas and here is one I wanted to share with you. If you need help on how to prepare the enema I'd be happy to share it with you. Thank you,God bless you and yours
While I used to get headaches frequently, that has long since been a thing of the past. I have always been a pretty healthy eater but since going off of our thyroid medication and growing our own medicine, headaches are rare and when I do get them, they are caused by extreme stress and lack of sleep. There are also other forms of pain that can come up and inflict us from time to time so making a pain reliever from my own home grown herbs is something I like to have on hand. Sharing this information with others is also important to me.
@@RainCountryHomestead Happy to hear that you no longer suffer headaches and also have figured out what your garden can do for you. God bless you and yours
Hi, to make tincture, dibujos i use just the lean? Thanks for your videos
I use mostly the leaves but you can use the flowers too
Tell us where to get seeds and plants.
Email me at raincountryhomestead@gmail.com and I will send you a list of seeds and more that we sell
where do i get the seeds for fever few and cat nip. do you save and sell your seeds or roots. Oh where can i order your seeds? I should have listened to the whole video before asking my question. lol
Do you have any info on daisy fleabane? Erigeron annuus
Not one I have looked into nor grow
Can you put the leaves in salad
About the bitterness... I wonder if you can take the tincture, evaporate off some or all of the alcohol to reduce the volume, then mix into a small gummie kinda like a gelcap. I'll have to test and see if that works.
This video is old and I have an extract recipe that is not too bad that combines other pain relieving herbs with the feverfew plus hone and homemade wine. I talk about it in this video: ruclips.net/video/V5JOC-b74gs/видео.html
Heidi I didn't know who else to ask, is all Yarrow medicinal? I had picked some up from the local nursery and the girl who orders alot of their seeds said the yarrow was medicinal but it's pink yarrow not white or yellow and I've babied this plant since last year 😭
From what I understand, yes, however, the white is the original wild version thus it is more medicinal than the cultivated colored versions. But if it is very pale yellow or pink, it may still be the wild version that has taken on their color from the soil thus changing the white flowers to pale pink or yellow. Mine sometimes turn a very pale pink
I bought seeds from you in 2020, Planted them last spring... One plant survived our summer (Arizona) last year , stayed alive all winter and it's starting to bud this spring :)
I hear there are different kinds of feverfew.. Interested in trying to grow the others too. I learned they are used in flower arrangements too. Best if picked when 3/4 open.
If I were to dry the leaves and put into capsules, How much is 1 dose for pain?
The amount you need and use will vary. One capsule may be enough but you may need three
Aight. I'm 9 months pregnant and ready to pop any day. How do use it to go into labor?
I believe Indian Pipe (Monotropa) is another analgesic worthy of investigation. Also said to combat anxiety.
Do you sell seeds for any of your herbs?
Yes, please go here: etsy.com/shop/raincountryhomestead
Hello Heidi from our farm. How can I make a face cream from feverfew? Thank you ~ Diane
I have never used it for face cream and am not sure I would ever want to but I do have videos showing how I infuse the herbs I do use in my face cream in oil and then how I make the cream from them once they are done:
Oil: ruclips.net/video/ZE3it47z1OQ/видео.html
Cream: ruclips.net/video/M9e5J6Vs1V0/видео.html
Thank you Heidi. I used to use Aveeno Daily Moisturizer with feverfew for over a decade. Now Johnson & Johnson appears to have taken it off the market. The 12th and last ingredient on their Calm & Restore cleanser is feverfew. Out of 100% what would be the amount in a 6 oz bottle? . I'm game to add feverfew extract to a moisturizing face cream at this point...
Do you think this would help with thyroid issues?
Not directly that I know of, however, if used to replace highly toxic drugs like Tylenol as a pain reliever, then you are certainly doing your thyroid a favor, as well as the rest of your body
you could add your feverfew tincture to a bit of juice when taking it.
I read that dandelion will remove age spots or sun spots. but the book didn't say how to use it. I've tried putting some in my lotions but after a few days the lotions had a bad smell. do you know how to use dandelion to remove the spots?
It would have to be some pretty strong juice to cover up that taste! haha! I usually just take it straight and suffer though.
I do not recall reading that about dandelions, I would have to try looking that up. I would say if it does work for that, then I would make an infused oil with it and add it to my homemade skin cream
might be just rubbing the "milk" on the spots?
zaneymay I watched a video where the guy put dandelion milk on warts, 3 times or 4 a day, takes his warts away, some in a few days, some take a lot longer, but it works for him. I would try garlic/oil 😉
thank you
Is this the wild flower we called Dasie, used to make a heckles out of it.
No, Daisies are different, they look similar but these are smaller.
I can only get 37-40% alcohol in Western Australia. Can't even order 50-80% in from over seas or eastern states.
I have found through my own trials that high proof is really not that necessary. This is an old video but these days I often make my extracts with homemade wine or even a combination of the wine with raw honey
When will your seeds for feverfew, catnip etc. is feverfew be able to be good to put in your vegetable garden.
Hey Lynn, not sure I am understanding what you are asking me here, would you mind clarifying?
Feverfew is repelling all the bees in my garden. It’s interesting that you say bees like it, i see no bees in the part of the garden where the big stand of feverfew is and I have a pollinator garden. I’m harvesting it and getting ready to pull it when the hyssop and bee balms all around it starts to bloom. Too bad, I do like the way it looks, the medicine and blooms. I’m trying to figure out where I can possibly put it where there isn’t bee food.
Bees do not care for the smell but the colors usually attract them to the garden, I have seen bees on plants they do like, such as catnip, even though it is right up against the feverfew.
Consider putting out outer corners or edges where it can help repel vermin yet not be too close to the plants you need pollinated
Rain Country thanks. I’ve read several accounts of how bees absolutely hate the smell of feverfew. I just watched a bumble bee on blooms in a different part of the garden. She flew over to the feverfew, landed on a bloom, i thought, great! But then she took off so fast and flew way up and away to the opposite end of the garden. It’s not that I need any plants pollinated it’s that the entire garden is a pollinator garden. I am however planting some cucumbers nearby. Strange problem to have, trying to figure out where to transplant it where there isn’t bee food. There are plants blooming near the feverfew but no takers. That entire area is empty if bees. What I do see on the feverfew are tiny little flying pollinators, some small flies.
Did the feverfew help your headache any? The herb is very pretty and really looks like daisies to me.
You sell herb seeds but how? Would you go to your Facebook page or how does it work when you sell something?
That is an excellent idea about using capsules to bypass the bitter taste. Gonna remember that for sure.
Thanks for sharing Heidi. 💚🌷💚
Yes, I have been using the feverfew for several years for headaches, cramps, and other pains and it works well for me. I usually eat it raw or take in the form of a tincture. When people order anything from me, they contact me directly through my email or my facebook, let me know what they want, and then pay via paypal or money order. That is how I do all my skirt, apron, soap, sock darner, and other orders. It will be a couple of months before I have seeds available but I will let everyone know what they are ready. I should start up a list for those who want to buy them
