I am a Licensed Acupuncturist, with 2 Masters Degrees in Oriental Medicine, and Prunella Vulgaris is one of my favorite Chinese Herbs. Your video is very informative, and I appreciate all the new information about it that I wasn’t aware of. I’m actually growing it this year from seed which I sowed last autumn, and it overwintered well, despite several weeks of snow, covered with a plastic bag. I will save seeds from a few flowers to sow in a partial shade and sun bed on the east side of my house, which is in a pine, fir, and oak forest. I’m so happy to grow this lovely herb and flower!
What an awesome video. I just got a couple of sprigs of self-heal from a friend and planted in my garden. She said, "You really need to grow this plant, it heals everything!". I had no idea what she meant, but I trust her so I planted it. Now I know so much about it! Thank you for all the research that went into this video. I am a believer!

Wonderful! I would love to share! I have some instructional videos on making herb infused oils that can be applied with self heal as well as a video on how I made the salve. Great vdieo! I am from Mississippi, but moved to Texas back in 2007. I have heard this plant, but haven't seen it yet. I don't know if it grows here. I'll have to do some research. Such a beautiful plant! 😊
I just found your channel. It's wonderfully informative. I haven't browsed your channel, but I hope you show the process of making tinctures and salves and the syrup for us beginners
I don't live in the woods (unfortunately😭) so I will order a plant from a rare herb supplier I recently discovered and when it arrives I'll plant it so carefully in the small garden I share with my apartment neighbours. Thanks for sharing your knowledge of this amazing plant🌱
Such a great instructional video, thank you! Just a note: In AZ, we have what could be a potential poisonous look alike, although not perfect, would be Lantana, aka "Lantana camara", which is highly toxic to humans & animals. The Prunella vulgaris plant sounds wonderful to look into, thank you again! 🌻
Thank you so much for this treasure trove of information!! I planted Self Heal seeds last year that I sources from 'Strictly Medicial Seeds'. The plant grew but didn't bloom but I expected that as many perennials don't put on a good show until the following year and onward. This year it's flowered BEAUTIFULLY and I absolutely LOVE it! I love it so much that I divided it and planted little masses of it in several different spots around my yard, garden and flower beds. The bees seem love it as well. Since I finally have flowers this year I had been wondering if it was as straight forward as most herbs where you just harvest, dry and store or use fresh as needed. I always like to make sure I'm using herbs properly for safety. Thanks a million! ALSO, What style of tea mug set up is that? Does it have a name? And where did you get it from?? I'd live to find something like that. Would certainly save me thr trouble of needing different tools and things to make it. Just poor over a straining cup that nests nicely right over the top of the mug = YES PLEASE!
I wish I could give you a brand or store I bought it from but I actually found it at a thrift store. I am sure they have something like it online though. Perhaps search loose leaf tea straining mug? So happy to hear your self heal is blooming and bountiful this year 🥰
Thanks for a thorough investigation of this plant, which has only recently come to my attention. What is the north American distribution? We are in Florida.
It is found in Florida. There is a long list of states it’s found in actually. This site has the list: www.wildflower.org/plants/result.php?id_plant=prvu It’s growing cycle will vary according to climate so I can’t say for sure when it’s blooming in Florida but I hope you are able to find some 😊

Love your video. ❤ what great information you have 👍 I am just getting into the weeds in my little plot. So happy to have stumbled upon you 💓 I hope you are still doing videos
That's crazy, it looks soooo similar to a common garden "weed" Henbit. But henbits Latin name is Lamium amplexicaule. But it is also part of the mint family (square stem of course), purple flowers, like they look so similar!
Thank you. Your explanations are both helpful and informative. Just found you with this one and subscribed. Now to binge watch on this restful day lol.

Great vdieo! I am from Mississippi, but moved to Texas back in 2007. I have heard this plant, but haven't seen it yet. I don't know if it grows here. I'll have to do some research. Such a beautiful plant! 😊

I don't live in the woods (unfortunately😭) so I will order a plant from a rare herb supplier I recently discovered and when it arrives I'll plant it so carefully in the small garden I share with my apartment neighbours. Thanks for sharing your knowledge of this amazing plant🌱
Glad to hear you will be growing it!! 🌿☺️💚
Refreshing calm, educational, intelligent information...thanks.
Thank you for this excellent educational video.
Thanks! I was just in Jamaica and saw tons of Lantana and was very curious about it. Beautiful plant but good to know it’s toxic.
So happy to hear your self heal is blooming and bountiful this year 🥰
Oh yes, harvest and be blessed
❤❤❤❤❤Thanks for your nice presentation to share your knowledge with us. God Bless ...
Thanks for a thorough investigation of this plant, which has only recently come to my attention.
What is the north American distribution? We are in Florida.
It is found in Florida. There is a long list of states it’s found in actually. This site has the list: www.wildflower.org/plants/result.php?id_plant=prvu
It’s growing cycle will vary according to climate so I can’t say for sure when it’s blooming in Florida but I hope you are able to find some 😊
Just looked it up for Florida and it seems to be only in some Northern counties. florida.plantatlas.usf.edu/plant.aspx?id=1387

Love your channel, thanks for all the great info and science!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoy it! 🌿💚🌱
That's crazy, it looks soooo similar to a common garden "weed" Henbit. But henbits Latin name is Lamium amplexicaule. But it is also part of the mint family (square stem of course), purple flowers, like they look so similar!
I was thinking the same thing I have henbit all over where I live
We have a lot of self heal on our 11 acres in western Oregon. I'm going to harvest some... today 😃

After watching this last night, I noticed a TON of it - you know where!
I actually recorded this one last year for the most part and put it out a bit early. I bet you will see it on your walks and probably even on your lawn come June! Right now the purple dead nettle is out and I have been seeing it where you let me harvest from last year ❤

Very informative video. I've loved Heal All for a long time but always purchased it from botanical pharmacies. Thank you for showing how easy it is to harvest. Would you do a video on how to make all your different concoctions? That would be very helpful.
Thanks again!
I have a few videos on making some of the herbal preparations featured in this video but do plan on making more how to videos in the future! Thanks for stopping by 🌿☺️💚
