    • @user-oj9xz8no4m
      @user-oj9xz8no4m 23 дня назад +2

      this is incorrect. Catmint and catnip are two different plants. Catnip is Nepeta cataria, catmint is Nepeta faassenii or Nepeta mussinii, depending what variety or hybrid you have.

    • @user-oj9xz8no4m
      @user-oj9xz8no4m 23 дня назад +1

      they are definitely related, both in the mint family... but they are not the same, catmint looks quite different. you have catnip. I grow both.

    cat-mint has purple flowers and smaller leaves, looks like you are harvesting cat-nip white flower and larger leaves and the plant stands more upright taller. both in the same family with same/similar medicinal properties, I have heard the catnip is a little stronger. people like the catmint for its pretty purple flowers. I noticed the catnip seed pods are super pointy and sharp, so I like to collect them or cut them off before they go to seed so they aren't on the ground for the dogs to have to run on or for me to walk on. I love to harvest the catnip, it is a good volunteer plant and all over the yard. I have seen cats fight over who gets to roll on the freshly mowed pile of catnip lol. love your garden space!!

      @@gtiernan1 You are correct. I keep forgetting that they are different plants. I was taught when I was young that they were the same. It is catnip. It's really yummy but it is a bully. What I am doing is harvesting and using most of it, letting some go to seed to collect and I will start transferring it to a container. That way I can keep it in check. It is a mint relative after all. This garden area was my grandmother's and I am currently restoring it from the neglect the renters we had in the house did. (Long story) I'm fighting a lot of invasive weeds like Canadian thistle, creeping bell flowers, nightshade and such.

    I have a question about the teas. For instance, the heart and blood tea that you made, how much should you use for a cup of tea? I have the same kettle that you have and I love it!

    I read that when using glycerin that the plant should not be used raw and should be dried first . Please educate me on this. Thank you

    Love your channel. How do you use freeze dried herbs when you want to use it? I know it may sound crazy, but just asking.

    I love using cat mint. I’ve alway air dried or dehydrated. I’m interested in a small size freeze dryer. What size are you using? I’m guessing extra large based on the volume you do.

      This one is the medium size. I will end up getting the xl one at some point, but for now the medium is great. I also use it for food as well!!
