I learned about holy basil during 2020 when the store was sold out of cold medicine. A friend of mine from India gave me some and told me to make a tea out of holy basil and bee balm. The tea was quite effective and paired with honey and lemon juice...it was so very soothing. Thank you for sharing one of my favorite herb's!! One plant will yield more seed's than you will know what to do with. A great pollinator plant also. Have a wonderful day.

Kaylee, I wanted to share my experience with Holy Basil. First, I want to say that I feel honored and blessed when that sweet lady grows in my lil patch I call a garden. Several yrs ago I must have been given some Holy Tulsi Basil seeds (thru a FB seed exchange) and grew a plant. I picked the fresh leaves and made tea every morning. That yr I began having terrible hot flashes and horrendous nausea. But, I found that sipping on Tulsi tea controlled those symptoms, and later I realized I was going through the change/menopause. Were it not for Holy Basil it would have been so much worse. I did a lil research on the plant and I have loved it ever since. I also have come to notice it is very calming and relieves anxiety which I've been struggling with at late. I have 2 small plants this yr. I pray it becomes invasive on my property and I end up with it all over my place. Thnx for sharing. I enjoy learning about more medicinal herbs from you and your Mom. I was so enthralled when I saw the rows of Tulsi growing in Jessica Soward's garden on Roots and Refuge in her recent garden tour video. I just love her.

You may find Tulsi will volunteer seed for you. I’m in zone 5b-6 and I have volunteers.
I’m wondering what your thoughts are about tincturing with ashwagandha. They just seem to be a good match and I take the ashwagandha daily. Not a regular tea drinker but do love the way tulsi tastes and smells.

I love your channel. Your presence is comfortable. I trust your wisdom. I am running short on pantry space and I am building my apothecary. How far from a window is safe for storage. I have a shelf 10-12 ft from a patio door. Will that be safe for storage or are herbs better kept in a dark place.

I made holy basil tincture last year. In July my son and I both got strep throat and we got on antibiotics. I started taking a dropper full of holy basil tincture 2 times a day. He tried it but hated the taste. My strep lasted 3 days and his lasted over a week. I only took 2 days of antibiotics and he took all 10 days.

I'm not a tea drinker. I would prefer to just take a capsule. Can you include information about drying for capsules including blends? I've watched your capsule video and have made my own capsules with turmeric, ginger, licorice powder and a few others. I would really like to grow my own herbs for capsules. Love your channel!

You are missing out on the water soluble properties of the plant when making a tea or infusion. Tea should only be brewed for a few minutes using heavily scented herbs

Holy basil the most holy plant in India.
Some people cal it the indian reishi.
Its an adoptagen and restores alot in your body if you take it for a long time.
    Its my favorite.
Combi it with l theanine 200mg and magnesium before bed and you sleep very good.

I use my bullet blender to crush/powder up things quick, but not sure it will work for what you need. Blessings!

That would be a great way to store seeds long-term if there still viable,
It might save you a fair amount of work chopping to use a food prossesoer ,i don't have one so I'm guessing.

Also I either dehydrate them, hang them upside down to dry them, or dry them in the oven since I can't get a freeze dryer, thanks. Of all those ways I just mentioned what is the best way to get nutrients from them? Thanks!

Can I ask you a question? I am starting an extensive herb garden and want to learn herbalism and herbal medicine.
I want to learn it via the most comprehensive and thorough way possible and I like the way you and your mother teach. (I even have dreams of involving my daughter and other family members in my enterprises, both because of their skills and interests, and because I just plain like them.)😀😁😊
Here’s my question: Where did you and your mother go to take your course(s)? You seem to have both a great knowledge, but even more important, a knowledge of where to consult when you don’t know, (which is just as important IMHO).
