Many years ago when I was having severe GI issues (ended up having to have my gallbladder removed) my mom had a large container of lemon balm. Making that tea every day while I was waiting for a diagnosis was a lifesaver.
We also have an Apothecary Garden at our cottage here in the UK. We particularly love growing and using native plants. Yarrow and self heal are 2 of our favourites
Love this! So helpful that you have genuinely geared this towards beginners and as someone also with quite a shady garden, i am really pleased to hear suggestions that don't need full sun 😊 Super inspired! 💞
I have tried teas after my postpartum anxiety and it has helped. It’s hard to learn your flavors but it’s very interesting; would love more tea videos❤
I so agree about Chocolate Mint! I just planted two and what beautiful plants, and the smell is incredible! Another new one for me this year is Apple Mint. It is another beautiful plant and the smell is awesome.
I not only grow herbs for my family and me, but for my friends as well. So I have many different types of plants. My garden is a huge blessing for so many. Thank you for sharing your beautiful garden and your wonderful knowledge. You are a blessing.
You have such good picks! Would love to hear more about your tea recipes as well 💚 Also wondering what you do when winter hits; do you dry & store your herbs or do you keep some plants inside with grow lights? I have been loving Holy Basil/ Tulsi Basil this summer (has some amazing healing properties), but peppermint is also a solid favorite. I must try to get my hands on a chocolate one as well after watching this video 🥰
Excited to have found your channel! Great beginner list. Yarrow is also easy, native, and can be used in a myriad of ways. It's important for gardeners to start thinking more locally and saving what is actually native around us. If you are in the North East I'm surprised you didn't mention American Wintergreen or Tea berry, Gaultheria procumbens. Also very easy ground cover, great for shade, the most amazing mint flavor ever, and such an important plant that is native to your area.
So I'm curious what kinds of tea you'd drink in winter ? Do you dry your plants and steep tea from that, do you grow plants inside the house or plan on building a greenhouse maybe or just use store bought ?
Love it! I like to make peppermint and lemonbalm. Or lemonbalm lavender. I'm in zone 6 but have a nice sunny spot that lavender grows well in, even in my amended but clay soil. I also love anise hyssop. Choclate mint is a fav. I'm excited to try pineapple sage and lemon verbena.
I would absolutely enjoy tea recipes When I'm having pain and discomfort for moontime I use nettle red raspberry leaf and ginger it helps with the cramps for me and tastes wonderful
What a lovely video. I grow many things, and I'm planning to add a medicinal garden next year. I'm glad the algorithms steered me in your direction. Thank you!
So Off topic, but still a big part is cannning I asked my mom when canning started to go out of style she said" mid 70's," because wonen went back to work, divorce was a big part of it which is sad I love doing herb gardens, and canning every year and I watched many you tube channels, on pressure canning I was a bit nervous, but my hubby said you do waterbath canning you can no pun intented can do this. I' m in the middle of dehydrating Elderberry. Thank you for showing up in my feed.. 😊
I enjoy this video. I’ve started gardening this past spring. I’ve started adding plants specifically for their medicinal purposes to be used for teas. As a beginner this list is very helpful as I plan and move forward. Thanks 🙏🏾
Just found your channel on RUclips and enjoyed it and became a subscriber. Tea mixture would be a good video. Herb garden tours. While scanning im sure I'm going to love your videos. I'm excited to start a new herb garden spot.
I'm growing Chocolate Mint, Moroccan Mint, Strawberry Mint, Lemon Balm and Holy Basil for tea. I had Lemon Verbena last year and it was beautiful. I also have raspberries, monarda, echinacea and lavender but haven't tried any of them in tea yet.
Thank you for this informative and relaxing video! I love learning about plants and I am a budding herbalist who wants to learn reiki healing. I'm so happy I found your channel! I'll definitely be subscribing ❤
I watched your video a few days ago. Pineapple sage is one of my favorite herbs to make for tea. I am just now trying your recipe and it is absolutely wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing.
i JUST DISCOVERD YOUR CHANNEL.....LOVE IT!!!! I'M A TEA DRINKER AND WILL BE TRYING YOUR PINEAPPLE SAGE AND CHOCOLATE PEPPERMINT TEA!!! I HAVE THE P. SAGE, BUT NOW I HAVE TO GET MY HANDS ON A CHOCOLATE PEPPERMINT PLANT. kEE P UP THE GREAT CONTENT AND MORE TEAS 😊❤
Your presence and voice are so calming and comforting. Just subscribed. I’m a Massage Therapist, and am also interested in natural healing. (And I love to garden a lot💚)
❤thank you for taking the time to share your wisdom! Love your Nana's tea pot, my Mother gave me one tea pot with roses and I lovee it, I also love pineapple sage to relax at night time and lemon grass and lemon balm thanks for telling us is invasive I ve just put some on the ground, ❤❤❤❤
What else do you do with chocolate mint besides tea? I have a bunch in the ground, spreads like crazy, comes every year. Love the smell of it but I've never actually used it lol. Glad you talked about pineapple sage too cause I have bunch of that also in ground. Smells amazing too!
such a beautiful garden and so inspiring 💚🌻 I definitely will plant pineapple sage next year ! I love to drink all kinds of herbal tea and I also smoke most of the herbs in my incense burner 😊 greetings from germany 👋
OMG Anna I've never laughed so hard. Im sticking to my orange pekoe as my go to tea. In a pinch I'll lean towards chamomile, but that's generally only when I've been going for a few days straight. Honestly that was so good. I'm very impressed with how talented you are. Paw🐾
Thank you for sharing this information. I’m interested in growing herbs for homemade teas and this was very helpful. I’m also in the northeast and my garden has a lot of shady areas and I lose a lot of plants to deer, bunnies, woodchucks and many other woodsy critters, so I know what a challenge it is growing certain plants and flowers. Next year I will try growing the chocolate peppermint and pineapple sage. I hope you will share some more tea recipes!
"For every illness, there is a plant." I love herbal/medicinal tea. I really want to try that pineapple sage and chocolate mint tea! It sounds delicious! Thank you for sharing! I drink mint tea everyday so I'm pretty excited about this. I grow my own medicinal herbs too. I have two herbs for you that I think you will like. They are both easy to grow and like shady woodland conditions: Wood Betony and Sweet Violets. Wood Betony is very calming. Violets are very soothing to the system. Also, do you watch a RUclipsr called Herbal Jedi? Yarrow Willard is a local herbalist who generously shares his healing plant knowledge in such a harmonious and caring way. Highly recommend!
Plant enough garlic, that time of the year when the leavestart changing, to eat everyday. Eat garlic proactively each and every day for a variety of healthy reasons.
Although I love onion and garlic and always believed them to be very healthy they actually can be disruptive on anybody with GI problems so sadly I've had to cut them out of my diet. I'm Jelly of those of you that get to have onions and garlic still enjoy some for me please
we're heading into autumn very quickly here in the uk, i was wondering if you have any advice for keeping herbs over winter- do you freeze them or dry them? thanks!
Anna, how difficult would it be to grow other varieties of Sage? I'm looking at Blue Sage and Mugwort (Black Sage), and have you ever smudged with Pineapple Sage? I'm imaging an amazing smell 😅
I have some very large Pineapple Sage plants to add to my growing varieties of Sage which is a medicinal powerhouse. From my research they are best used fresh and in drinks to get that pineapple flavour. Dried they lose the scent and flavour (I speak from experience) they are regarded as having no medicinal properties. Can you provide any books or research regarding your advice about this herb, I’m open to having a different perspective, cheers
Great info! Luckily I can grow lavender in my area, which is Zone 7B. I've had the same lavender plant for 8 years! I also love chocolate mint and pineapple mint. I'll have to try mixing the 2 together for a tea.
OMGOODNESS ALWAYS AMAZING WORK GREAT AUDIO VIDEO DESIGNER IDEAS AND CREATIVE PERFORMANCE CINEMATIC EXPERIENCE MUCHO CALIENTES 😘😘❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰🌶🌶🌶🌶❤️🔥🔥🔥😍😍❤️🔥🔥🔥
Awesome tips Anna, I love the teapot and mug! I share your enthusiasm for herbs and am planting some in containers so the ease of growing tips were very helpful, and you’ll save me the trouble trying to grow lavender in shade. 😂 Lemon balm is so interesting to me since just a pinch of dried herb helps me focus, as well as relax, a fascinating combo compared to other herbs like chamomile. I have seeds to plant it to grow my own. I will try the chocolate mint and pineapple sage, that sounds wonderful and appreciate the recipe! I wanted to share that I’ve recently also gotten a couple of young plants from Etsy to grow so I can stop buying teas - Bacopa monnieri (Ayurvedic herb, good for memory, focus, etc) and Jiaogulan or “Jiao Gulan” (“longevity” herb, can be invasive - so pot grow only). I am happy to say both of these have proven easy to grow for me in the only part sun (I’m in zone 9 btw). 😊🪴
Kudos to this video, but the book The Hidden Herbs by Anette Ray will reveal how to truly harness the power of natural healing. Find it, trust me on this.
