I’m learning so much from watching you. I’m 59 years old and coming off 7 medications and only have 7 more medications to go. Then can start making my own medication.
You are doing good. I am 56 with no medication. I am on mushrooms as a medicine. Lol. I just started. 😉
Me too
64 yr bfay in few weeks this been helping everything!!! Was not a all in store this winter. Finally clubs a box of yrs starting my garden now so have my own to save
💜
Super!
Well done! Fantastic!
My dad likes to use a dehydrator to dry our lemon balm. The two of us like to make tea with it, the lemon balm. What he will do is crush up the Leafs so he can put them into a tea strainer, then he will dip it in and out a cup of hot water until it smells like lemon balm. Not only does it help me sleep, but it also takes the pain in my neck away. I have a herniated disc in my neck.
Yeah, i've heard it's a nervine tonic as well as a sleep aid.
I just dry it in the solieum. I do not have a freeze dry dyer but a regular dehydrater
Hi people, Im new and from New Zealand. I read through the comments and cant help myself from sharing. Lemon Balm Pesto?? Brilliant! So Lemon Balm and I hung out for a long time, LB was one of the first herbs I planted and started learning about in my twenties about 30 years ago now. That smell!! Love what you did with the stems. Something I used to do with dried stems of ALL my herbs, all the leftover bits and pieces would go into paper bags or boxes. I would snap larger sticks into kindling sized pieces, maybe bundle smaller stuff together with some twine... I would store them in the woodshed. I did the same when I pruned my herbs and other plants, trees. We had a woodburner inside of course, but we also had a very cool brazier outside. I loved the ritual of starting the home fires and for me , there is nothing better than using the dried herb matter to get the fire going quickly. The scented smoke, heaven. I also found it a way to use every part of the plant, respecting and honouring it to the very last. So that is one way to use up leftovers. I just airdried my herbs, I think freeze drying is fantastic though. I really liked that you were showing us why you like freeze drying, I learned a lot thank you. Ahh Lemon Balm...
I would have never thought to use it in fires. Great call.
I made pesto with it the other day and it's delicious! Sooo good!
I like the mosquito repelant aspect of lemon balm too
You live a Blessed Life.
I am blessed to have an opportunity to work so hard for it 💛
@@Handlehandlehandle320 and I praise God for all the Blessings each and every day… even the ability to work so hard!
Why feel the need to tell her how to respond to this comment? That’s kind of rude. She answered in a perfectly respectful way.
@@Handlehandlehandle320 Who are you to tell someone what the "correct" answer is. Weird take.
@@TooDaft I was thinking the same thing. Obviously someone that doesn't understand. This is the problem of allowing comments, giving people that wouldn't normally say anything to your face an open channel for their ego and opinions.
I love growing lemonbalm and peppermint, basil and making teas. Easiest plants to grow. I have harvested mine 6-7 times this year already 😊🌱🍀
i have so much lemon balm it just took over
And we have a group called The Gathering , we are all in the same mind with living and loving this herb, plants , homesteading life . And I am taking a huge bag of lemon balm with me to share tonight too
The Gathering love it❤
Those freeze dryers are $2,500 and up….holy cow!
Yeah I'm pretty sure our forefathers did not use one:)))
You can use your harvest right to vacuum seal too. Just take out the shelf unit, put a tray in the bottom. Replace the rubber seal. Close the drain valve. Load as many jars as you can fit. Press the leaf logo and press vacuum. Bring it down below 1000. Ta da! Open the valve. I save a couple of loads and I clean the machine at the same time. Saves wear and tear on the little plug for the shelves. Try it, you won't have to haul anything from the house.🌺🌸🌻🌼
I love making lemon balm pesto. It's my favorite thing to do along with tincture.
And I am the crazy one that pulls off all the leaves off stem first as it holds so much more . My chickens get the stems
I love your videos so much! I’m learning a lot, and it’s fun to see your excitement and love for what you do. It’s very inspiring. Thank you so much! ❤️
What a Blessed day it's been!!!
Getting ready to harvest off of my two large pots of lemon balm. Wasn't sure what to do with it and then here is this video! Thank you, Kaylee!
Thank you for teaching us I have alot of Lemon Balm don't have a freeze dryer have to go old school drying Your truly blessed 🙏 😊
I have a rather large batch of lemon balm growing that has been there for about 8 yrs now and is continuously spreading. And I am about to find out what happens when it butts up against my oregano that is doing the same things. Will either one try to cancel the other out, will they intermingle and cohabitate, or will they form a border. I figure in another year I will find out. During late fall, I will mulch with finished compost and over that some shredded leaf mulch. Then I add a light dusting of powdered calcium and wood ash. Lemon balm helps our autistic boys to calm down enough to get a good night's sleep.
First time I have seen you, I clicked for the lemon balm... subscribed after a few minutes. You are a beautiful soul, you have a gentle confidence, a natural sense of humour, so easy to watch, listen to and learn from. My vibration shot up so fast and I was feeling so blissed out and full of joy. Thank you for that, I am so grateful. So that is what you do for for others and you deserve to know how special you are. Thank you for doing what you do, the world and her inhabitants all benefit exponentially from you and your work. So I sold my property last year after being there for about 17 years. Herbs were my focus, fruit trees, my chickens, cooking, harvesting, making healing remedies, the routine, the rhythm of being outside... I miss it so much. I could literally feel and smell my lemon balm, memories surged back, I am so excited. Iv been living in town for a year but still have pots and planters with my must have herbs. Including a beautiful lemon balm ready to plant actually!! synchronicity for a few commentors here, even for me, 8 months after this video was posted and living in Aotearoa - New Zealand. Im going to get my country life back, that is what I am meant to do and be. I literally just remembered watching this. Im going to leave another comment with some bits too add and share about lemon balm and I. So grateful to have clicked on this bless you
Agree with this subscriber!!! And happenstance I just found your channel and am deeply interested in learning more, as I have a “ bed” of lemon balm in one of my heirloom gardens left from my Moms estate, that I now get to live at! And I have become a New Subscriber as well. Keep up the good work, you’re a very good teacher
i love your calm manner and the love you have for plants and nature always a joy to watch what you share and learn… blessings wished
I have been cutting and drying my different Mints and Lemon Balm. I plan to make a tenture this weekend. I love the ideal of using the stems in the oil.
what a beautiful flower child....wish we had !more like you!
I agree❤
GREAT video! I was so happy to see you use the stem. I have been using stinging nettle stems for over a year. I have not heard of Lemon Balm salve. What a GREAT idea. As always thank you for sharing and say hello to your dear mom who like you, always makes me smile.😄
Thank you so much 💓 for teaching us ,and thank the viewers as well for their knowledge
I just love learning from you ❤
This was so neat! My aunt gave me a start of lemon balm and I've been putting it in lemon water with a little salt for hydration and I've heard lemon balm. Is good for anxiety!
I miss you and your mom together! Does she have her own RUclips we can go say hi?? If not, encourage her to!!
We had been given some and had it for a while before we knew it was usable. I have to be careful with it around my dad because of the way it works with blood. But I'm happy to have the scent!
You are an exceptionally beautiful woman! Thank you for sharing about the Freeze Dryer and how simple it is to preserve crops.
New subscriber. Wow..amazing channel. What a talent you are!
Great video! I love your approach to your videos 👊🏻🌻👊🏻
Thanks for this. Thinking of mixing lemon balm and mint together!
Thank you for your teachings, your amazing!😊appreciate you😊
I am from Pakistan, I love your videos & your hard-working
I'm growing lemon balm this year and excited to get all these tips!
I love lemon balm. I can almost smell it as you stuff the jars🌻 great video! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for the knowledge everyone is doing such a great job at educating us. Takes time to learn everything. Appreciated ❤
Glad to found your channel, thank you so much for the info.New subscriber here.
I lived on 3 acres in So Oregon for almost fifteen years and there was an abundance of wild lemon balm on the property. Summers were hot and dry - 100F and maybe 25% humidity, so I would harvest in mid July and just dry it on racks outside! The reason I'm mentioning this is that my So Oregon wild and dried lemon balm looks just like your freeze dried version 😲. I just moved to NW Washington and it's way too humid to do it naturally, so I'll be looking into the freeze dryer, thank you!
Awesome video's, 😀 And I love what yo have written on your top.
While lemon balm is a wonderful plant it does have side affects for some people. I tend to stay with lemon grass, lemon mint and lemon thyme. Good info.
It may be easier if you o it all on the pan dear. 🙏 you get some rain.Always a joy to watch your videos.Blessings!
I absolutely love watching your videos.
Nice eavning its at my heart ❤
Thank you beautiful soul! I am very grateful to you for teaching and sharing your knowledge!🍄🐝🧚🌹
Catnip!!! I'm feeling pretty proud of myself for recognizing it, cuz I wouldn't have known it 4-5 months ago when I planted my first catnip seeds 😊
I have to use a dehydrator, so I find that incredible! 😃
I have definitely enjoyed your video today 🙏🕊🙏
Thank you for sharing ✌️💞🤟
I infuse jewel weed by chopping the washed leaves very finely. Turn on the oven to about 200*. Put leaves in a glass oven-proof dish. Cover with olive oil, put in the oven, turn off the oven and leave in the oven over-night. Strain it and use it for itchy skin.
My Mom said poison ivy grew next to Jewelweed. The cure is always nearby:)))
Wow please share how you preserved other Hurbs. I dont have dehydration machine. What else can one do. And a little more advice on freeze dry.
My husband uses an air fryer to dehydrate cayenne peppers to make cayenne pepper, maybe you could try that if you have one. You can also set an oven to lowest temperature and spread herbs out on a cookie pan or sheet of aluminum foil and put in oven, then turn oven off and leave in there until dry. In past centuries they either just tied bunches together and hung them up in a warm dry area or spread them out on a pan and covered with a very light cloth, gauze, or screen and set out in the sun until completely dry 🤷🏼♀️ Just make sure you check for mold later, in case you do not get them dry enough.
Freeze drying anything aromatic will remove much of the essential oils. I know from experience. It took a LONG time to clean the drum after doing it.
ماحلاكي اتمنى لك التوفيق والنجاح
You have amazing thumbnails/pics. Very beautiful
We live right near you... every time they say we're going to get rain I say "I'll believe it when I see it" , we have a bubble over us and the rain seems to always go around us.
You are not lying about that… I am watching this storm and they’re saying we’re supposed to be in a flash flood watch. What about you all?
Just like always... we got nuthin! @@TheHoneystead
After I air dry my lemon balm , place a mason jar with olive oil, then place cheese cloth with ring.. then how long to let it sit? Do I stir it during the process?? I don’t have a freeze dryer. Can you do a video on how to preserve the air drying way please
If you don't have anything else to 'warm ' the oil in, you can use your egg incubator!! I make yogurt in mine because I don't have a yogurt maker.
Thank you I love lemon balm!
Same here it’s been dry the whole month of August , but I am watching your video today Tuesday, and we are having some rain last I checked had about 1/2 inch not sure if you have gotten any rain yet you usually get the storms before we do here in Delaware . Thank you for the great information in your videos.
Wow thanks for all the knowledge shared. Subscribed💚
Nice
This was very interesting and you’re so pleasant. I’ll have to subscribe and see what more you can offer.
I've just discovered a few tinctures I started making 2 years ago. I don't know how I overlooked them. I wonder if anyone has done the same and still later strained it off and used it.
All the time
Thanks so much for all your great videos. I am a recent subscriber. I can't help but notice the wall cabinets behind you in videos. Could you share where you purchaced those or if they are custom-made? Thanks in advance.
Really enjoyed watching your video. I Love petting lemon balm in my garden. I look forward to trying your recipes. Im wondering how you shake up the lemon balm/oil mixture with cheesecloth on it 🤔
Hi, I was trying to find your video on milk oat tincture. As I'm sure you have heard many times, we thought we found some but now understand it to be rescue grass. I live in Texas. Is there any medicinal properties to it? I have been looking and all I find is how to eradicate it. Thank you
Question… when should you harvest your lemon balm? I’ve heard that you need to do it before it flowers otherwise it’s more bitter tasting - is that true? And I’m wondering why mine went to flower so quick this summer 😂
Mine also is flowering! I needed this video ❤
You mentioned adding an oxygen absorber to your freeze dried lemon balm. When would you say that's necessary (or the vacuum sealing)? I have herbs I've dried and will use within a year. Are the absorbers for freeze dried or to extend that shelf life?
And thanks for sharing all of your knowledge and mistakes, learning as you go. It's refreshing and real! Congrats on your success and your new course offering as well. 😊
How do you use the lemon balm stems & olive oil? I planted 3 plants last spring & they survived the Nebraska winter. When is the best time to harvest ? I've heard mint is best harvested right before it flowers.
Do you use freeze dryer for all your herbs? What is the shelf life?
I do for the majority! If stored in Mylar bags, up to 25 years… but I will more than likely use it within two years.
♥️♥️♥️
I didn’t know you could load up the trays so high. I thought you could only do single layers of leaves in the Harvest Right.
You are SO CUTE when you get a little ditzy... wrong lid size, steam on camera and stuff. I love your personality... you are so down to earth!!!
Agreed. Cute she is along with a lovely personality. Since my wife crossed away, I did ask her for continuous guidance. She is doing well at her job. Lol.
Lemon balm pesto is delicious!
seems the youtuber homesteaders get a gift of the freeze dryers for advertising. nice. since they are around $3K
I wanna grow Lemon Balm, any growing tips?? Thanks
I'm disabled and my wife hasn't worked since 2020. I had a stroke when I was 48 I'm now 61. Our groceries have almost doubled since Biden took office. We use to spend 75 too 85 a week for groceries, we currently spend 130 to 140 for the same items. I'm a firm believer in not using credit but we couldn't live in this economy without them. We own our homes, we own our cars. We have a 2006 Ford f150 and a 2009 Buick Lucerne. We pay 625 a month for my supplement insurance, 2,000 a year in car insurance for just liability and 1,600 a year for homeowners insurance. These expenses don't include utilities or medical expenses my wife has, who is currently facing a 40 to 50 thousand dollar surgery. So tell me Mac, how do I stretch 24 thousand a year to cover all these expenses without going into debt..... oh and I forgot I also pay income taxes on my disability income.
So Biden caused potatoes to be $7.99 for 3KG?, Gasoline $1.89 a liter? so how is Biden the cause of the stock market to hit 40K ? just a Red blamer? did Biden caused your stroke? did he cause your eating habits ?
Where do you feel like is the best place to buy your mason jars? They have gone up in price so much in the last few years. Is there a special place you like to buy them?
If you use a clear beaker the audience could see the reconstitute part better.
I followed your last video and am making a lemon balm tincture. I want to try the lemon balm salve next. What are the uses for the salve?
Any Hurbs that will help to stop or lower blood pressure. To naturally stop taking medication
I’m interested in getting a freeze drying machine
I infused fresh lemon balm in oil but put a regular cap on it. I shake every day. It’s about a week old. Should I throw it out?
I've always thought you loose some of the nutrient value when you dry your herb's in a dehydrator or freeze drying them compared to drying them by hanging and in a dark place or with a bag tied at the top of the bundles
hi there just starting to learn about the different drying methods. I see you use a freeze drier. I have been looking into a dehydrator. Would you recommend the freeze drying method over dehydration and why? I am going to be starting a fair sized herb garden this summer and have a couple local shops looking for some of the products so looking for the best way to dry and preserve the herbs. So far your lessons have been fabulous. Thank you
Please breathe through your nose rather than your mouth. It is much more healthy for you. You will not suffer from a chronic illnesses that affect many Americans, who have a habit of breathing through their mouth. For some reason. Love your video by the way.
So it works as a salve as well? I usually use dandelion for sore muscles.. what does lemon balm do in this manner?
What kind of oil do you use olive oil?
Is freeze drying like dehydrating
Fire video.
Is there a difference between lemon balm and lemon mint?
First time watching. Can you make a tea with fresh leaves?
❤❤❤
Is there a lemon balm look alike that has a little smaller leaf and smells more like citronella?
ls lemon balm the same as bee balm?
Lemon balm worsens neurological symptoms for me. Why would that be?
What is the scientific name of the lemon balm you are using?
Is it good for nerve damage and what other herb can mix with it?
You are looking so beautiful ❤️
Does anyone have the link for the lemon balm tincture video? I’d love to make that, too!
