      Hi, yes it is, and yes I would. I recently painted 17 panels in my garden, I watered the fence paint down by 10% and it's done a fantastic job! Didn't time my self but I'd say I had it all completed with in 1 and half hours.

    Thanks so much from Australia. Yours is the only video that made everything clear enough to choose a spray painter. It seems like the tool has a good balance. Not too technical and easy to use. All the best. Maureen.

      Hi Maureen, thanks for the comment, really glad you liked the video and I can be of some help to you. It's really easy to use, I'd say the most complicated thing is reading the instructions for the correct dilution of paint you are spraying

    Hey James, i know this particular model is for wood and metal but do you reckon I can use it on a concrete wall?

  • @MatSmithLondon
    @MatSmithLondon 3 года назад +1

    Not sure why it says it’s suitable for wood and metal but not walls eg plaster. Seems fine on walls. Also I’m using paint that doesn’t have the Red “perfect spray” logo, seems fine! NB the paint itself (leyland trade) says it’s okay for spray. Quality of paint on plaster wall seems really nice! Not sure why it’s not recommended as such

    • @JamesManCave
      @JamesManCave  3 года назад +1

      The reason it only says wood and metal is because this is the entry level spray gun. They do a much pricier version that is dedicated for indoor decorating, so some people assume that they need to buy the more expensive spray gun to do walls and ceilings

    Hi James ..great review btw, very helpful..I’ve recently purchased one of these Wagner wood & metal spray gun. I tried it on mdf panelling with 2 coats of primer and my choice of finish is white eggshell. But the 1st coat was very pimply and orange peel effect..I diluted as instructed but I wasn’t too impressed with the finish.. I was expecting a smooth finish like its comes out of a spray booth from a joinery workshop.. maybe it’s me being too heavy handed or not diluting enough..any thoughts on my novice approach on my project..good review very useful thank you..

    • @JamesManCave
      @JamesManCave  4 года назад +2

      Hi, I've sprayed loads of things with this and had a super smooth finish on it. I'd say practise your spraying skills a bit with the spray gun, and also take the time to really dial the spray pattern in, long strokes and try not to release the trigger to much as this will cause some minor spitting each time you pull the trigger back 👍

    Great review James. I’m currently making some MDF skirting boards and undercoating them with a couple of coats is taking me forever! Also I’ve got home made fence panels I put up just before the accident which haven’t seen a coat of anything in 15 months😳. Just gone through your back catalogue of videos and saw this, is it ok for stuff like fence panels, but also is it ok for the likes of satinwood on skirting and wax/oil on doors? Just had a look on Amazon and it’s discounted at £50 which seems like a good deal

    • @JamesManCave
      @JamesManCave  5 лет назад +2

      Hi buddy, I've painted mdf with this, plywood and obviously the door in this video. I have only used water based paints in it, I'm really impressed with it with the paints I have used. It also says its designed for wood and metal spraying, so I will test out non water based paints soon when I spray the garage door with it soo. However, a chap in work bought one to paint his fences after I told him about it, and he thinks it's the best £50 he has spent this year. There is also a dedicated fence sprayer which I also have, but I'm yet to use.

    • @JamesManCave
      @JamesManCave  3 года назад

      Hi, I've not heard of this paint before, but as long as it's a water based paint then it will be fine. The oil based paints can swell the rubber seals in the nozzle, and also could be to thick to get steady spray pattern

  • @riffraff8490
    @riffraff8490 4 года назад

    Well done video. I've got a brick fence in a rock face which is extremely rough so a spray would be ideal I hope. The ad for this says spraying wood and metal. Does that mean it won't be suitable.

    • @JamesManCave
      @JamesManCave  4 года назад

      Ummm well spraying textured masonry paint probably wouldn't work that well, but spraying any other sort of water based paint would be fine. I've used it to spray my garage door with a metal paint that wasn't water based and it came out well, but I had to use some paint thinner with it

      I've tried to find out a bit more on this, truth is I don't know. But what I can tell you is that the W550 is no longer produced by Wagner, and the specs of both sprayers seem to be identical. The model range that start in the 500s now are different sprayers altogether. Best I can do 👍

      Hi Neil, hmmm that's a bit of a tricky one. For the paint to come out without the trigger depressed, the valve must still be open. This I guess could be caused by a blockage of dried paint within the nozzle assembly, and or worn seals. There was something in the manual about an air lock in the plastic tube also by nozzle. I've not had this issue my self, but worth a look? 🤔

    Can I spray my fence and decking? And how much would I need to dilute it?

    • @JamesManCave
      @JamesManCave  4 года назад +1

      Short answer yes, but there is a another dedicated sprayer for that job. And I've no idea what paint/stain/wood preserver you would intend on using and or their condition, or the area you want to paint. So impossible to answer the dilution question

    You put the primer over the undercoat?

    • @JamesManCave
      @JamesManCave  4 года назад

      No, I mixed up my words, i used a undercoat primer on the base layers, then finished it with a top coat of gloss

      Yes, it's a paint sprayer. As long as you use the recommended water based paints it will be fine

      Hi, I wouldn't say it was noisy, about the same level as a hairdryer. I'm using mine outside all the time, and my neighbours haven't commented on the noise of it
