Had the privilege of seeing the Santana band in Sydney in 1973. For some reason, security allowed me to watch front and center, from the stage apron. The house sound was blasting but from where I stood, I could hear they were playing barely above loungeroom levels. I could hear the musicians talking to each other. What a band!
Jose ''Chepito'' Areas the best timbalero and conga player in the world, he is amazing!! Our Nicaraguan pride. We love you. Sylvia Montenegro de Yeager.
Michael Shrieve must have been fitter than most Olympic athletes the energy he put in to this gig, especially Soul Sacrifice, brilliant drummer. My view is this was the best Santana line up.
In 2022 i am 22 years old and have always had an appreciation for older music specifically older rock and sanatana literally gives me chills like no other!!! Cant wait to see him live for the first time in july
Carlos Santana is one of music's great spirits, and he is a true warrior and a musical pioneer. I grew up listening to Santana and heard them in my hometown theater, which was the Capitol Theater in good ole' downtown Passaic, NJ. I heard the band in 1976 with the great Armando Perazza. Santana is incredible combination of Latin, funk, soul, jazz, rock, basically every musical style beautifully molded together to form a new style all it's own.
This was the prime time for of all of the band members. I feel so lucky to have bought their first album when it came out and to live in the Bay Area when they were doing shows. Just an incredible time.
SANTANA. This is music at its best my brothers!! 1969-70 were and still are the best creative music of all times. Thanks for the memories! We love you. LONG LIVE SANTANA!!!
Such amazing talents perfectly in tune with eachother producing a brilliant marriage of Latin, Funk, Rock and Jazz never seen before or ever since, truly one for the ages.
Carlos is taking care consideration for every member. I can feel his deep affection and tenderness. This live at Tanglewood is very passionate! Santana's sounds always take us to the exotic world. From Japan with love.♡
A 5:02 intro, holy shit. First time hearing the live version... that percussion section is tearing it up! This song has always been so underplayed on the radio it's ridiculous, such a great rocking song!
A black guy..a Mexican..a guy from Nicaragua..a cuban...and 2 white americans.... thats a great deal of different roots all blend together...Terrific line up!
Look at how they all look at each other! Communication! Bands like this do not exist much anymore. Michael Shrieve is an extraordinary drummer (not only here but on all the Santana tunes he was on). This version of the band was rougher than later ones but very primal and "sincere". Carlos had tone still (sorry I hate his fuzzed out compressed tone he has since a few decades). This was a true band! The whole greater than the sum.
@@brazims yeah, although I think Santana is always sincere I believe he succeeds in the early band recordings. I don't blame him as an artist, he felt the need to move in different directions and no one stay in one place. But there was "something" about those first 4 albums for me that were never equalled. Even when he tried to being the old band together it did not sound the same. People change and whatever made them play like that has ling been replaced by decades of life experiences they cannot undo! But that is why recordings are great. They allow us to time travel anytime we want! Cheers.

Cynthia and Alex your speeches I grew up with this music and 58 years later I'm still listening to it and enjoying every single one of the band members this was my music I love it
This is why 1969 / 1970 were the best two years. You had this, Zeppelin, & King Crimson all flying hard out the gates. If no other reason, simply because of this band alone.
The whole band is cookin'! To the master's credit, Carlos hands the keys over to the other musicians during different parts of these songs and lets the other instruments drive this mutha. Catch Mike Shrieve at about the 4:37 mark - he notices that he just broke the drumstick in his right hand, tosses it grabs a spare and keeps playing without dropping a beat. And remember this is a live performance from 1970. No digital sound boards, or effects like auto tuning...just pure, honest analog sound and energy. Effing amazing.
As a musician still to this day when I watch Santana, I say wow!!!! Truly the best percussionist. Carlos is a musical genius. And did I forget to say one of the greatest guitar players. Thank all of you for the music you gave us 🙏
I can't say enough good things about Michael Shrieve who inspired me to become a drummer. I played for about 30 years until tinnitus got so bad that I had to give it up. My favorite live performance!

David Brown his original bass player passed on in the year 2000. His timbale player Chepito Areas retired. So the other three Gregg Rolie, Michael Shrieve and Mike Carabello still get together every so often. BEST BAND EVER IN MY OPINION. DOESN'T MATTER WHAT BACKGROUND YOU COME FROM, IF YOUR GOOD AND EXCEPTIONAL YOUR IN CARLOS' BAND.

The best lineup my man!
Must!
The best!
Saw the "original band" in concert not long ago.... they were great in their time, but not so much anymore.
Michael Shrive, one of the best drummers in history.... has no energy anymore.... :-(
New band...... Whoa! Totally amazing.
Long live Carlos Santana.... he really did change the world..... God Bless you Carlos!
Larry Graham - GREAT BASS!!
This IS Santana! The energy of the original lineup can't be denied. Great music from my generation. We had the best music period!
Drums are awesome all together 💯
These guys gave their body and soul to their music!!! Fabulous!!!!
One of the best bands ever to grace this earth!

No one is white only the anim...als, Anglo American, Latin American and African American are the proper terms!
This line up us the best....they were together for the 1st 3 albums...that is the core....😊
Everyone just enjoying themselves, just bringing out each other’s talent, not outdoing each other, relaxed, no pressure, just equally loving the music...and it’s perfect.
Carlos needs this band TODAY!!!
+Theodore McClendon They just got back together. They are releasing an album. Santana IV in april I believe. Go to their website & check it out.
Dig it.
+mannybrucesalvador Yup, Neil Schon will be with them also. Sadly Dave Brown will not. He passed away in 2000.
I agree with you 100%
Yes indeed! !! They were the best ever.
The Music Industry will never b able to top Mr.Carlos Santana's Music...I AM A SANTANA LOVER FOREVER N I AM WHITE AMERICAN...N LOVE ALL HUMANS...
This isn't my generation but when I tell u it takes me to other dimensions and worlds.. one of the best most infectious performances I've seen in my life.. the ancestors come out for this one..
So good when I hear your generation enjoying the music from our generation. The 70's had some of the most raw talented musicians. Hopefully more generations will listen and enjoy this music as well.

This original line-up was just the most amazing groove machine - Santana gifted me, a
white bread suburban kid, a lifelong love of Latin music and culture - long may they groove!
The best bass player that he ever had....maybe also his best band too !
Bassman hypnotise basse percussive ..Magic eyes of Carlos direction Dave Brown was imprégné ( fench terme) very cool bassiste ,Santana lui montre le moment 🌞⭐😆💥
I think his best music was his first 3 albums. The music after was good but not as the first 3. And the best band he had
Now this is REAL MUSIC…..❤️❤️🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🙏🙏🙏🙏

Had the privilege of seeing the Santana band in Sydney in 1973. For some reason, security allowed me to watch front and center, from the stage apron. The house sound was blasting but from where I stood, I could hear they were playing barely above loungeroom levels. I could hear the musicians talking to each other. What a band!
Jose ''Chepito'' Areas the best timbalero and conga player in the world, he is amazing!! Our Nicaraguan pride. We love you.

Michael Shrieve must have been fitter than most Olympic athletes the energy he put in to this gig, especially Soul Sacrifice, brilliant drummer. My view is this was the best Santana line up.
I agree wholeheartedly.
I’m not sure what happened but I would’ve loved to see this band back together.
Incredible sense of rhythm and timing.
For sure best ever.

tHIS IS THE BEST BAND THAT CARLOS SANTANA HAS EVER GATHERED, THE SAME THAT WE SAW IN WOODSTOCK 69
Nothing could ever come close to being this good in music ever again. :-(
In 2022 i am 22 years old and have always had an appreciation for older music specifically older rock and sanatana literally gives me chills like no other!!!
I also saw the Santana band at the Capitol Theatre in Passaic. The many nights I spent in that joint…
This was the prime time for of all of the band members. I feel so lucky to have bought their first album when it came out and to live in the Bay Area when they were doing shows. Just an incredible time.
SANTANA. This is music at its best my brothers!! 1969-70 were
and still are the best creative music of all times. Thanks for the memories! We love you. LONG LIVE SANTANA!!!
You're completely right: 1969-70 were
and still are the best creative music of all times!
No doubt about it, & October 25th 1968 release of Electric Ladyland double album by JIMI HENDRIX. A masterpiece way ahead of it’s time and still is
Saw them in 81.sick as a dog.could only smoke one joint.but they made my night.
Lord! I was about 9 when this came out and I still LOVE IT!
David Brown is such a genius. I love the groove he puts on the song.
Thank uthis man never gets his full recognition🎉
David Brown layin’down a funky groove.RIP.
As he always does RIP brother
Such amazing talents perfectly in tune with eachother producing a brilliant marriage of Latin, Funk, Rock and Jazz never seen before or ever since, truly one for the ages.
Carlos is taking care consideration for every member.
I can feel his deep affection and tenderness.
This live at Tanglewood is very passionate!
Santana's sounds always take us to the exotic world.
From Japan with love.♡
THE best percussion section ever! the rest aren't too shabby either...
Puerto Rican not Cuban
They should do a show with the same line up 🤘
just enjoy d misc.. this is SANTANA
Incredible Carlos Santana ed i suoi .
I love his old tone
Mike was fast, had a great beat. He was great Live
@@maddoxandhisband9146 same and this was when he was still using Gibson
I like the word 'primal', that's the word I was looking for when I hear Santana's earlier tunes. Comes from the heart, the guts!
Cheers.
Love the seamless ease from "Savor" into "Jingo"!! Classic!! A Masterpiece!! RIP David Browne (bassist).

I am speechless! This is my ultimate favorite song, love the flavor, the passion..Carlos Santana & the band🐐🔥❤🎵🎶🔥❤
Just watched it for about the 40th time. Soooo good.
❤YOU'RE speechless??? Over 50 years later and I'm still enthralled! Damn, they were electrifying.
Cynthia and Alex your speeches I grew up with this music and 58 years later I'm still listening to it and enjoying every single one of the band members this was my music I love it
I seen Santana back in the Mid 70's in Detroit .Probably the best most energetic band I have ever seen!
First lp I bought with my own money. I still cherish it. Also my first arena concert 1972. This live version is the best.
Effing amazing.
it was a democracy at this time, not just Carlos's band
That whole lineup was outstanding. Blessed to have seen him live 1970. Still following his career

Certainly grew up in the best decade try and put this together now
@@alancromarty8468 NO WAY!!!

One of my all time favorite bands. The energy........just mind-blowing.
Saw Santana in Dallas Texas, tickets were $10 still puffing and listening to my generation music (The Best)...No apple music garbage
Love how all ethnicities come together and make beautiful music. Truly special how the love of music brings us all together. Music is the bridge.
I've listened to Jingo a thousand times but this is the first time hearing this version and it is off the charts. The percussion group is unbelievable in this and Chepito really stands out
