1972 I was 12 and sitting on the sidewalk in downtown Vancouver BC listening to my friend play black magic woman when a group of guys walked up and listen to him play they looked familiar but I wasn't sure so I said nothing. at the end of the song one of the guys reached into his pocket I thought for some change to give my friend but to my surprise, he pulled out two tickets and said sounds pretty good come listen to me play it tonight. It was Carlos Santana I was blown away my first concert and invited by the artist himself. Needless to say, the concert was fantastic, every time I hear Santana I remember that day

It was 1975 at the Civic Coliseum in Knoxville Tennessee. Santana opened for Eric Clapton. It was amazing. Santana brought down the house. Then, Clapton brought down the house. Clapton did an encore and the venue started turning lights on and saying drive safely. I stood up and started yelling Duet-Duet just over and over. The folks around me and then our entire section, the section next, and on around until the entire place was yelling Duet-Duet over and over. After a while the lights went out, and you could see Santana walking back on stage with his little amp and his guitar. I do not recall the song they played but , it was unbelievable. One would rip out a riff and the other would play it back at him. They dueled it out for a good while. I probably went to hundreds of concerts or more in those decades, that one will always be one of the most memorable. Peace!

Nah. That timbal player....está en panga. Just two guys who hit the instruments real hard and make a lot of noise, like here, but you can tell they don´t have the African tumbá ´o (rythm) naturally. Remember they came up playing with gringos, not Afro-Cuban music. Endel Dueño. Minute 7:20 ruclips.net/video/_qkzUIe9Zxg/видео.html
@@patperez8787 Everybody in the latin percussion world knows that these batos never played latin music before but i don´t know what I´m talking about. Isn´t it obvious anyway? Mention any recording or latin group they played for before Santana. They wouldn´t know the difference between a Guaguancó and a Plena back then. They are no Barreto..o Roberto Roena. Rekow never carried a Tumba´o in his life. Like this guy. Ray Castro, whom later went on to form Conjunto Clásico. Rhythm and noise are two different things. ruclips.net/video/2FyfZKZHKVI/видео.html
It just doesn't get any better than this. This music doesn't enter you, it kidnaps you and takes you away. What a treat for those in attendance. 50 years ago Santana came out of nowhere and never looked back. If you haven't seen the Woodstock performance, get on over there.

First time ever saw Santana was at the Texas International Pop Festival at a race racetrack outside of Dallas 1969, went home got the white album and played it over and over again. His music is spiritual.
I saw Carlos Santana play in Tampa, Florida Apr 4, 1981, something I will never forget. He and the band played for 3 hours, when it was over I thought it was just 1 hour. No stopping between songs it was continues. Fantastic!

1969 or 2019, one of the most easily recognizable signature guitar sounds ever ! He can play 2 notes of a song you never heard & you know it's Carlos instantly !
@@Mister_Pedantic I like that ! For me, it's more the unique tone of his instrument/amp set up, & the way he strikes & holds the notes that make his music instantly recognizable.
@@Mister_Pedantic I'm not sure what that has to do with his sound being instantly recognizable, which was my only point. I'm curious, do you think they mean that one solo made him millions, & everything else was gravy ? Or do you think they mean that solo is all he's got & he's been riding that for 50 years ?
At 65 I've seen Santana more times than I can remember...thru all phases of his career... I can tell you ...this is Carlos at the top of his game...These 3 songs are the BEST I've ever seen them performed. Loved to have at that one!!

The Sacred Fire Concert from Mexico City 1993 is undoubtedly the best Santana concert EVER!!! I watch it at least once a month to keep myself keepin' on.....
His music is epic and nothing else like it, it's all him. Beautiful, sexy, exciting, and definitely memorable.

One of my very favorite bands EVER. So much incredible talent.
Santana took Fleetwood Mac's black magic woman to another dimension. And he took us along for the ride.
YEs, and also took Tito Puente's Oye como Va to a whole new level !
Im from Papua New Guinea.I see and hear Santana play on yutube 1000 times but cant get enough. Its pure music created by raw and amazing talents.

I saw Carlos in concert in Frankfurt, Germany back in 81. I was in the Army with the 3rd Armored Div. The Germans love Santana as much as anybody.

Wowed me at Woodstock, wow'd my daughter's in Denver, still wowing my Grandchildren! That is a true Legasy! Thank you Carlos!❤
There has been no better percussion combo than Raul Rekow & Karl Perrazo during this period !
the best ever was mike caravallo and chepito Areas

@gfexc All do respect but you don't know what your talking about.
Carlos Santana is hypnotizing! Santana takes me to another world 🌹
SOUNDS LIKE YOU'RE ON DRUGS...
You and me both!❤️
Hi terry I agree he is the best best friend love to you all !!!!
Best show I ever saw!!!! ❤
Carlos Santana, My all time favourite since Childhood....💘💘💘💘💘💖💖💖💖💖
First time seeing him in 1977 n Hou.Tx. n have seen him ever since. At least 25 times live .
It just doesn't get any better than this. This music doesn't enter you, it kidnaps you and takes you away. What a treat for those in attendance. 50 years ago Santana came out of nowhere and never looked back. If you haven't seen the Woodstock performance, get on over there.
great stuff to be sure

Alex Ligertwood
The best guitar player ever
Black Magic Woman, compulsory song to play back in the early 70s. Luv the respect Carlos bestows on Jimi.
Love your Magic Carlos. Makes me disappear every time. Thanks.Johnny
First time ever saw Santana was at the Texas International Pop Festival at a race racetrack outside of Dallas 1969, went home got the white album and played it over and over again. His music is spiritual.
Let’s enjoy a good music during this times of pandemic and relax.
So magic sound and rhythm ....Close to heaven. ! Thank you all. JYA
I saw Carlos Santana play in Tampa, Florida Apr 4, 1981, something I will never forget. He and the band played for 3 hours, when it was over I thought it was just 1 hour. No stopping between songs it was continues. Fantastic!
That's when the drugs were good and Bruce Jenner was still a guy

1969 or 2019, one of the most easily recognizable signature guitar sounds ever ! He can play 2 notes of a song you never heard & you know it's Carlos instantly !
The Secret Carlos Santana Chord Progression, his style has been called.
@@Mister_Pedantic I like that ! For me, it's more the unique tone of his instrument/amp set up, & the way he strikes & holds the notes that make his music instantly recognizable.
@@j.rollinsbrunson3671 I like Carlos but I can't disagree with those who say he's been dining out on that guitar solo for 50 years now.
Dead on right, in 2 to 3 notes you know it's carlos. Check out those videos he did with jl hooker and that chic with the pop hits,
One Of The Greatest Guitar Of All Time
At 65 I've seen Santana more times than I can remember...thru all phases of his career... I can tell you ...this is Carlos at the top of his game...These 3 songs are the BEST I've ever seen them performed. Loved to have at that one!!
