AI generated art can't benefit from copyright, so that won't eliminate artist jobs altogether, it will just mean there will be fewer openings available. In order to be eligible for copyright, work needs to have some level of human work put into it. Artists can use AI to speed up their process, but if one were to try to generate an AI work and then copyright the AI generated work without putting in some of their own work, they would fail in that endeavor since AI generated work is considered public domain.

When you can train the AI will be the key. Right now, you just give it words, and it looks through its database of millions of pictures to find what you want. You should wait until you can show it the art you want to make.

Artists of all kinds will still be needed to run, manage and troubleshoot the AI, but AI will be pretty much everywhere. Much as cellphones suddenly appeared and became standard, and Photoshop appeared and became standard, it looks like AI programs will too.

through using --s 625 --c 0 and define an artistic style (like in the style of "famous artist") you can get a lot more concistent results - and with the new --test you get a lot better faces and details than before. using --sameseed 'number' will also give you more consistent versions between the redo's - so there is a lot one can do. Imo. AI is amazing and exciting - I'm see a lot of amazing opertuneties from it, rather than a problem. if it can enhance art, then that is amazing :)

I understand that you can appreciate the products of AI as a work of art, but that is only because you embed the ai-generated image with your human emotion. This look, this human capacity, is what makes it an artistic experience, not AI. Strictly speaking, AI cannot positively generate art because it doesn´t understand emotion (as Marcel correctly pointed out in the video); and that is what art is all about: expression. AI-generated images are made by the automation of putting pixels together with abstract mathematical functions. The final product might look the same but the actual becoming of the human-made piece of art is way beyond, a whole universe away, from what AI is doing. I really think there is no point in comparison.

i forgot to mention something that might make you feel better. as of right now AI creations can not be protected by copyright. at least in the US. lookup Smithsonian AI copyright issues. according to US law to qualify for protection, the work must have human authorship. your job will be very secure as the federal government tries to figure out how to legislate this new tech. no company will want to pay to create something that instantly goes into the public domain. dont believe what the TOS says on sites like midjourney. none of that stuff is protected by copyright.
for this reason, i would suggest a local instance of stable diffusion so no one can grab your images. and with your skill you can use the output as a starting point for a unique character you make. you can get ideas. and try different options quickly in different art styles before you spend the energy making something. i studied art and remember spending 30 40 hours on an idea i regretted when it was finished :). now you can quickly mock several ideas up.
this tech is awesome. it wont end artists it will end corporate monopolization of creativity. The people who should be worried are companies like Disney.
just like content management systems have allowed the average person to have a professional website just like large corporations. this will allow people with limited resources to create their vision and share it with the world.
and big companies will always want artists who are trained to help guide their content and intelligently discuss things like consistency and art styles. jut think. there may come a day where mindless production artwork is no longer a thing. making 30 rough logo variations for some clients can be a nightmare. now you can do them in 10 minutes and then jus workup something unique of the AI created variations after you inform them that an AI logo can not be trademarked.

Marcel's style influence = Hanna Barbera (Flintstones)
A.I. style influence = Tim Burton (Nightmare)
Sidepoint: mimes and clowns are not a pop cultural thing. Nightmare clowns are. May show the A.I.'s limits and bias of cultural reference.
It's also interesting to study from a perspective of the existence of style and persistence. There is no persistence in the A.I. yet (AFAIK) - but that can easily change. All the A.I. has to do to simulate human persistence (i.e. purpose but not genuine) is to study itself and "iconize" the style. Once it does that it will not produce the weird flyers. And it's already doing something like that. It's just not as "determined" as human beings are.
Also interesting is the fact that this is the first "taste" of it being emergent and not a slave. You may guide the selection of an iconized / persistent style, but that is no longer slavery - it's a collaboration. You become its equal when it argues with you ...

I have been using Dall e 2 for a month now and it's crap, it can help you reimagine and develop concepts but cannot only restrict your power of imagination but also steer your creative wheel of imagination to a different set of ideas you weren't working/ looking for. which ultimately can help one in long run but also distracts from the actual workflow.

Within 10 years the tools available to artists will be amazing. Some people or artists will be look at it negatively, while others will see in a positive light. There's is no doubt in my view that AI will be a reality sooner rather that later, and artists will have to adapt to this new technology, or they will simply be left behind. After all, it was only but 30 years ago, that desktop publishing completely revolutionized the industry, creating brand new technologies and working environments in it's path while at the same time killing off long standing industries when the transition was finally done and over with. Tighten your seat belts... It's gonna be a fast, bumpy ride!

AI art is a huge insult to all creations not just arts. It cannot replace human because it lacks a lot of basic fundamentals.
Stop promoting this ai art that does not create a real work only insulting it. It is just a fake cheap imitation of arts, the result is obviously horrible since it lacks knowing what it tries to draw or understand what it is and how it works.
Real decent art came from a being that know what they are drawing and have a judgement and understanding of law of nature as well as knowing which is right and wrong.
You guys only insulting everything creation by praising such terrible and the most insulting thing made for centuries ever and beyond

Technology scientist these days have failed to make a selfless car to drive as good as humans, failed to make robot dog that can compete with real dogs in competition, and now they never count the number of their failure rate which is 100%. Now for some reasons, they trying to compete human in art which is the most complex human activity of all time and you can imagine the result...

Let's see how r the results there in year 2050 ...2100...haha it's just a matter of time for AI to laugh at ur "art".
Recall the year 2007 when steve jobs launched the first iphone...look at AI then and now. Yeah, thats what I'm talking about Babe.

Come on dude, your art was way better than the AI. But to be honest...us real artists are screwed. But animators with a 2d traditional style are safe.

you are very talented. AI is coming this stuff is so new. i remember when webmasters all lost their jobs because CMS took over. it upset me because the systems that were out there were so inferior and limited compared to what i could do. a few years later and all those issues were fixed so i leaned how to incorporate the tech into process. creating sites became easier and faster. and i knew the systems so i could sell myself better to clients. also mst clients didnt know how the tech worked so i ended up making more money.

Thank you, I appreciate it! This is definitey just the beginning for AI, I will be trying Dall-E soon which is more advanced. But hopefully like you said from your experience, AI will become a tool for artists and we’ll just have to deal with it/use it for our advantage!

from my experience adding to much info can also confuse the algorythm and it ignores some words or focuses too much on some parts that aren’t even relevant! It’s sort of a gamble and takes a lot of trial and error :)
