    I'm a Massey guy, but those orange Agco DT tractors are some of the best looking tractors ever built. Too bad they quit making them in that color. On our farm the list of Masseys would be 165, 1085, 5465, 7480, 7624, 8660. And mid summer there should be a 8S.265. Thanks for the video

    I love the Allis Chalmers. My grandpa Harris used to own and farm with them. He started out with the Allis Chalmers crawlers and then he went with their tractors. The HD47 crawler is still around. He said they were loud when you farm with them. The reason why he went with John Deere you ask why: Because Allis Chalmers sold out. He tried Duetz Allis and other brands then he chose to go with John Deere. He never went big when he owned Allis Chalmers. He had Gleaner at the time too. The Gleaner N6 is still on the farm.

    I grew up driving HD-6 Allis Chalmer crawler tractors on our farm on the rolling Palouse Hills of Eastern Washington. We eventually aquired three 440 Allis Chalmer wheel tractors that came with 555 V-8 Cummins engines that we ended up converting to 855 Cummins engines. We did this by extending the front end of the frames to make room for the larger In-line 6 engines. These were marvelous tractors--even with thew old "tripple-nickle" V-8's. My Dad and brothers and I logged a lot of hours over our 2,400 acre farm on those great-hearted tractors!

    The Allis - Chalmers MFWD 8070 is my favorite. I don't have any on my farm today, but back in the day when it was new, I had the privilege of operating one for a guy and to me it was a major upgrade in the cab. A lot more leg room, didn't smoke as bad as the series before. They also had made the new articulated 4 × 4 the same way.

    Now an 1855 makes a whole lot more sense. Lol. One of these days I really want to run an Agcostar. Just don’t see that many. Agco probably should have pushed sales on them a lot harder than they did because they are really simple well put together tractors. I know they are trying to define their whole “brand identity” by consolidating lines but I wish they would have kept the orange and silver tractors.

    I've got a soft spot for Allis Chalmers and Gleaner. My grandpa and great grandpa farmed with them. They started out with a couple pull type combines but then upgraded to a single Gleaner self propelled combine and they had two Allis Chalmers 2wd tractors to do the cultivating and seeding.

    Whoever owns that 8550 has done a great job keeping it together. In high winds the engine covers fly off and get dented, not big dents, like gravel dents. Also the lights usually vibrate off the back fenders, so useless anyways. Spent my youth in one, perfect size can for a 13 year old. Loved it, never let me down, lots of cultivator and chisel plow hours. Rock hard dirt if the 80s.

    You didn't show many historical tractors from these iconic brands. I was raised with a Cockshutt 50 then a 570 (Dad bought it at a factory to farmer sale in August 1959, Brantford, Ontario), MHF 50 then 65, couple Allis WD's in the 1950's and 1960's. Since I took over in 1981, the fleet is all Deere.

    Probably some of the most under appreciated tractors AGCO ever made was the deutz air cooled tractors and the AGCO Allis tractors with the Detroit engines in them great tractors for there time frame but just never really cought on with guys...they were good tractors just a little ahead of there time so guys didn't know what to think of them...

    AGCO has a great line up, strong engines and well-appointed premium feeling tractors. I just wish their dealer presence and availability of non-big Fendt tractors was better in Ontario. Unrelated, but does anyone know if you can special order a Massey with AGCO branding and orange livery still? You’d think you could to honour the “A” in AGCO.

      When AGCO started in 1990 they at first offered Deutz 6000 series as their utility 60-90 Hp tractors. The German mark had an unfavorable exchange rate going into 1990 so AGCO switched to Same to supply utility tractors 30-90 hp. They also used Lamborghini tractors for the White 30-90 hp tractors. The only difference was air cooled and liquid cooled engines.

    • @stevecunningham2759
      @stevecunningham2759 2 года назад +1

      As I recall, Massey Ferguson sold some Landini models that we serviced in the AGCO parts group, but I don’t know that there was any ownership. AGCO sold rebranded SAME mid-range models while I worked For AGCO but again, I don’t know if there was any ownership %. Fractional ownership is rather common for some sales arrangements.
