A friend's husband was cut in half when a cable that was being used to pull a bull dozer out of a ditch by another bull dozer broke. It is not smart to stand close to a cable under that much tension.
I have been in the towing and recovery for over 50 years and have had some close calls broke chains and cables always put your hooks in with the opening up that way if it brakes it will go to the ground if the hook is down it will go wild and you will get hurt or worse
Yeah I just knew we were going to see some steel cables snap... Or straps.... It's easy to pull a big choker in half with this equipment... Standing close is not smart... Even if a shackle breaks it can send pieces flying..... So even if you're far away you still might be in danger.... I was an ironworker for years and hated the safety man... But you have to be smart in dangerous situations....
4:50 Thats a JCB 3230, they are in JCb Fastrack series, they have usually a top speed between 40 to 63 km/h, but some of the models can do 83+ km/h. The JCB 8000 series have a top speed of 103 km/h. They are tractors, but build more with truck parts then tractor parts. But they still manage to do somewhat decent tractor work, but not as good as a purpose build tractor. But they are very good at transport work or road work.
Ces personnes se tenant si près des sangles de remorquage et des câbles sous tension semblent ne pas avoir la moindre idée du danger incroyable que cela représente
Damn some of these folks is rough on that big dollar equipment. I could literally hear my dad and the other old hands screaming and cussing me in my head watching several of these. Thank God I've not had major situations like Alot of these occur yet.
4:58 That is a fast track. Its effectivly a tractor built on truck komponents that is also registered as a truck. So it can legaly go 90km/h (but not with that trailer)
I have operating farm tractors for fifty years. The last thing you want to do is spin the tires. Downshift to first gear if the tractor won't move you need to unhook the implement . I have gotten hundreds of tractors unstuck spinning the wheels is worse thing you can do. The best thing to get a tractor unstuck is a backhoe use the hydraulic s to pull . A front end loader same thing use the bucket. I have been called many times to get tractors unstuck. Many times just putting it in first gear with motor idling will come out.
I traveled the wheat, Soy Bean, Cow Pea's and Milo Harvest for several years and never once seen people using their equipment like this and I am 83 years old. To me this is pure stupidity.
Must never rain or snow wherever you are. Here on the east coast, happens all the time. And as one commentor suggested, manufacturers are coming out with expandable paddle tires to help get unstuck, so it must happen more than enough.
@prime1143 That is true. We have chopped corn when it's muddy, but in the fall the ground is firm enough where you don't sink in the ground so much. In 2019, we weren't able to start planting corn until the 3rd of June because it was so wet. There was guys that tried in May. Our neighbor buried his planter so bad that they couldn't get it out so it sat for 2 weeks until it got dry enough to dig it out with excavators
In Thailand, where they use tractors in flooded rice fields, instead of buying additional rubber for their tractors,...they attach a steel paddlewheel outside the drive tire. From what I've seen, they don't get stuck.
Worked on a coal tip clean up job years ago, big dumper stuck. Foreman asked me how I'd get it out, I suggested pull with dozer or 360. Foreman said no, make the driver dig it out, then he'll not get it stuck again...
I think this is very destructive for the soil. I thought about it for example in forests. In Germany sometimes horses are used to carry the wood out. Takes more time but doesn't destroy so much and doesn't get stuck. I think when the soil is to wet the big machines shouldn't work (probably the horses need a break then, too).

What an unbelievable sight! These huge, powerful machines can still be defeated by mud. Farmers really have to face all sorts of challenges!
I love watching those big tires spin
Round they spin and down they go :D. Interesting to see you don’t need complex equipment to recover a sunk digger if you have HUGE quadtracks ^-^
better than cars !
Some of those guys remind me of my dad. Keep spinning and digging it in as deep as possible so it's a B to pull the F er out.

Some of these tractors have insane amounts of torque and power. Most people simply don’t understand just how much power they have.
like the quadtrac... that thing is sooooo sick
It's difficult for me to wrap my mind around how much torque. Like tens of thousands of ft/lbs.

It's A pain for work but you know all of these men secretly love when they get stuck so the Can use the full Horsepower.
You use like no horsepower while stuck. The tires don’t have traction, meaning there’s minimal load on the engine.

Lol. Some guys can't accept when the ground ain't fit to be in the feild. It's pointless.
