Hey there, Steve here. This is the intro to the song Smile by the band Standards. I love the beautiful simplicity of this chord progression, and how each repeat builds on the chord progression.

I love standards!! Glad you're covering them, their music fits your style perfectly.
So this is a bands song called standards?
@@alaskayoung3413 The song example is "Smile" by the band called Standards :)
Hello Steve, last night i got really high and had the epiphany that math rock isnt about tempo, angular riffs or tapping, its about having fun!!!
Then i realised the guys from don cab hated each other and practised 30 hours a day and then i felt really bad for being so naive.
Also Damon Che had massive anger issues
LOL
Old school math rock (like Don Cab) is a lot different from what “math rock” refers to today, which is more like the style in this vid.
I feel like this tele is a Christian Bale of guitars, cause it completly changes for every video you shoot...
Hope to see three pickups there someday)
P.s. Great playing as always!
😂 yeah. I think it'll stay like this for a while. The idea being using two humbuckers in the middle position for that TMP sound 👍
@@LetsTalkAboutMathRock get a 5 way switch for more tone trust me
The harmonic part was really cool. Big fan of that riff. The thump part is my fav
Awesome! Would be amazing some bass stuff
sounds amazong! could i ask what those pickups are? 😁
cheers. seymour duncan 59 in the neck and lil 59 in the bridge
@@LetsTalkAboutMathRock I have a CVC Tele in a sinilar configuration, except the neck is a SD Quarter-Pounder. I like it okay
I can't subscribe this channel enough
Love your stuff. I get it ain't exactly your wheelhouse, but have you ever considered digging into a bit of drum theory?
Thanks, more facgce please
My music and experience is very similar to yours. But I have zero equipment experience, what kind of mics are you using for your vids? (:
He most likely uses an audio interface with his computer to capture the guitar sound directly
woooah
They really did. 😄
I love yoooou! This is so pretty. 😍
what tuning?
Facgce with capo on 2nd
is that the american specialtele? I found the frets to be really high on it, do you like it?
What’s the tone. I’m playing it with just a reverb pedal but it doesn’t sound as good.
Hey I was wondering how long it normally takes to receive your ebook once bought ?? I really want to learn some stuff and just wondering
Hello. You should have received it instantly. Did you check your spam folder too? Hit me up via my email (it's on the about tab on my page) if you have anymore trouble. Thanks
:)
:D
😁
I wanna someone use Nashville tuning for the ultimate twinkly riff.
First bit with the chords was huge Hot Mulligan vibes
Please make a video with tabs to this song, I’m trying to learn more.
I'm inexperienced with electric guitars and amps so I was wondering what settings and pedals you use for that sound? I bought an audio interface recently so I'm ready to cook - just searching for good ingredients.
me after hearing these chords = :)
😃
You tune in FACGCE and then put the capo or how is the tuning?
tune to FACGCE first 👍
Are you explaing the capo on the second fret?
i swear if he plays wonderwall...
That was sick!!!
6th and 2nd strings are up, while 4th is down. What string gauge set is optimal for such tuning? Or the strain difference is compensated and the standart 9th or 10th sets are enough?
9s or 10s are fine, but I wouldn’t go higher than 10s.
@@SandalwoodBros thank you!
Where's your merch store gone?
should still be up 🤔 there's a link in the description if that helps. thanks!
@@LetsTalkAboutMathRock sorry I am an idiot!
What capo are you using?
I only found a very old one that isn't that good so I could use one
I’m also going to make sure I buy one of your cool math rock shirts too asap
Cool chords! What in the world are those pickups?
I wanna know about this pickups too, sound really good!
bit of a late response, but the bridge pickup looks like a Seymour Duncan mini JB - basically one of their JBs but single coil sized. Couldn't really tell you about the neck though
the bridge is 2 seymour duncan 59's
Tuning ??
Ha, I get it.
Uchu Conbini pls
What tunis is this?
you’re not gonna believe this
:)
i haven't smile
((((
Me neither. Hmmm.....
Big blue going through some growth spurts lately huh 🥲
haha yeah! planning to keep it like this for a while. It'll be my different tunings, middle pickup selector guitar haha
