I like your exuberance for the Q3 and completely understand that! I got my camera two weeks ago from Leica Store of Miami by just calling them and asking if they had one I could buy. That call was the lucky one and I got my Q3! And I feel the same way as you do about the Q3. "Stay Q-rious, my friend!" 🙂
I got my Q3 in October, just a few days before my trip to Paris and I took it as my only camera with me to that trip. I got back from Paris after a week and not only did I had my best images for the year, but it also made me switch completely to Leica M. As you said, the Q is a "dangerous" camera
Thanks. I just got a used Q2M, which I am enjoying, although when I travel, I’m having a hard time deciding on whether to carry that or my Fuji XT5, which is so versatile! I’m still on the waiting list for the Q3! Geoff
I'm planning to own my first Leica camera. Stay Curious is one of the best channel that simplify my decision making on buying the Q3. Thanks so much for your content, I'm looking forward to see more from you. 😄
Congratulations. I have had mine since June and will note it is my first ever Leica camera. In the time I have owned it, it has been my favourite camera. I only use it for personal use and leave my other brand cameras for work. The image quality from the unit is stunning. It is my ' Life Camera '. thanks for sharing your video and congratulations for your new Q3.
I've had my Q3 10 days and shot with it maybe 1000 frames. I own 5 other Leicas including an M10R. I really didn't want to like the Q3 as it wasn't the traditional M. But I am completely won over. I had a Voigtlander 28mm f2 lens and wasn't convinced I would like the focal length being fixed but I love it with the bonus of rapid cropping with the press of a button. My only real gripe is when I switch from live view to playback there is a couple of seconds freeze and the rear screen shows (frozen) whatever the lens was pointing at when I pressed play. I am struggling to accept this is normal but I haven't been back to the Leica store yet. Image quality is superb. I am taking this everywhere with me.
@@flofroschmayer yes I do. I took it back to Leica yesterday. They say it’s the file size takes longer to read and if I use smaller DNGs not 60mp it won’t happen. I think that’s BS. I can’t believe Leica designed a camera that works like that and discourages you from using its full capacity.
Recently added the Q (typ 116) to my M10 kit and what a great pairing this is. I recently took the family to Howl-O-Scream, Busch Gardens Williamsburg and only took the Q and was blown away with the images I captured. This is a great little camera for everyday life and travel.
Thank you! It is the Protective Case from Leica for the Q3… Stay tuned on the channel. One of the next videos will be Q3 Accessories and I will show it in that.
I agree. The Q3 is maybe more modern and has a better AF. But the Q (typ 116) is just a fantastic tool. If you can't afford a newer model, don't hesitate to buy a used Q. The rendering and the lens is so fantastic!
SL2-S shooter here again 😅. Important hint for nightsky shooters ➡️ get a Q3. The Q2 has some non-changeable settings definitely not suiting the need of nightsky photography, specially everything what has to do with long exposure (as far as I can remember it starts at shutter speed slower than 3 seconds). Lot’s of videos in YT targeting that issue. I must confess, I don’t know if they can fix it with a Q2 firmware upgrade (or already did so).
I was on the local waiting list since product launch and just scrubbed my name off. Having rented one for a few days I really liked the whole build and user interface, as well as the great images. But for that money I found the restriction of one focal length too much of a constraint.
Congratulations for the video and for the passion and enthusiasm that you transmit; I am also in love with the Leica Q3. I even tried it for an hour at the Leica store in Florence. Currently, I own a Sony a7III + Sony 24-70 f2.8 GII + Tamron 35-150 f2/2.8...... What do you advise me? Would you change the whole Sony package to switch only to the Leica Q3?
Phu... that is a big question! Because we are comparing two different things... If you mostly shoot with our GF Zoom and mostly shoot around 24-28mm... and almost never go longer... I would say put everything you got together, sell it und get the Q3... because it is more compact, the lens is as good as it gets and the color rendering is also fantastic... And you just like to take it out more... I am sure about that.... // BUT if you like the versatility of 24mm to 150mm I would advise you not to go all in... Yes, you can crop the pictures from the Q3 because of the 60 megapixel sensor... but let's be honest... A cropped portrait shot with a 28mm looks different than one shot with let's say 75mm lens. The Q3 as the only camera is of course fantastic... but you are then a wide angle shooter... Crop until let's say 35mm looks organic to me... cropping more looks like a cropped picture in my opinion. Please let me know how your journey progresses!
love the color and contrast you got from the files in this video. I assume they are from RAW files. Do you have a recipe you use to get them looking so good or is each individually edited? I would love if you could share the recipe if you have one somehow to use on my Q3.as your files look perfect.
Thank you! Yes, they are RAWs. When I do a shoot like this on the same location within almost the same light I edit one photo and then apply the edit to the others... but i still go over everyone individually and tweak them in the right direction. I try to recover the highlights and then push the mid towns but always checkt the the blacks are black. I sometime desaturate a bit but sometimes push one color i bit individually. Not sure if I helped with that...

It's funny, so many commentators state that they bought a Q2 or 3 because they wanted a compact camera, but the things are pretty much the same size as most of the semi-pro mirrorless bodies currently available.
It`s been a long time since I`ve been thinking about a Leica Q camera. I`m a hobbyist so this seems to be excessive and unnecessary... I enjoy very much your video about the way you evolved in photography and how you get to Leica. My way is a lot shorter (I`m in sports area of work) but as I get deeper in photography and started to see more photos I started to gravitate towards Nikon, and maybe because of this I identify a bit with what you presented. In this gravitation I also bumped into Leica, especially after seeing a photo exhibit of Sebastião Salgado in a Leica store... Your video sold me out completely to Leica Q3... I`m sure I'll keep another camera, but I see myself making a primary use of Q3... Fortunately the waiting list is long enough to help save enough to buy one :-) ( I do understand the danger... :-). Thanks for your videos!
