LEICA Q3 CUSTOM L-PLATE W/ GRIP. Facilitates mounting to a ball head tripod. Cannot be used with a half case. $225.00. The Leica Q3 L-plate features an integrated grip, allowing for an uncompromised fit and a solid feel that parallels that of the Leica. The extended grip improves ergonomics of the camera body. The L-section blends seamlessly into the camera allowing for portrait shots on demand. Battery and memory card can be accessed without removing the plate. An integrated QD (Quick Detach) socket makes attaching a strap simple and easy.
Per Hudson Henry Photography recommendations I purchased the RRS grip with L-Bracket and it is divine. Ergo is perfect and it has L-bracket arca-swiss and a QD port. I recommend it highly. B&H carries it.
Great informative video! New subscriber. I just received my Q3 from BH after a 6 month wait list. There seems to bug with the wireless charging grip, where the battery continues to drain even with the camera off.
Thanks for a great channel, Florian!! 👏👏 We have very much the same background; I’m a filmmaker that have been shooting Canon for a looong time. At the moment I’m considering stepping into the Leica-verse, and buying a Q3. However, as I will use it a lot for video, I need to be sure it the video performances is good, that it’s easy to switch between photo and video, attaching external microphone, etc. I could see you mentioned anything about video-related accessories in this video. What are your experiences shooting video with the Q3?
Yes, the Q is dangerous. It was my entry „drug“ into the Leicaverse. I did not have time yet to really test the video feature on professional shoots… but as a point-and-shoot, it works great. I had it on a Gimbal the other day, which also worked great. The 8k and the L Log all work fantastic.
It's worth mentioning that the original hot shoe cover supplied with the Q3 is made of plastic. The aluminium black accessory hot shoe cover 'feels' much nicer.
Thanks a lot for this review. I've just ordered one Q3 and exoecting its delivery. Can I ask the refernce and diameter of the B+W black mist filter ? thanks so much.
I like soft shutter releases. However, I have had ones on other makes of camera which had a relatively large gap between the camera release and the soft release. Does the Leica one screw down so far that it is flush with the camera release i.e.no gap?
I got it a about two years ago at the Leica Store Berlin. It is called Ona Bowery Leica edition… could not find my version on the internet anymore… try camera-express dot de.
Just a regular UV filter from Leica with a filter thread of 49mm - sometimes I use a black pro mist filter for creative reasons. These are not available from Leica but there are several manufacturers that have great options.
The wireless charger is a real letdown. It’s clearly not designed specifically for the Q3 and therefore to get it to charge you have to place the camera over to the left. If it’s not exactly in the right place, it will not charge. If you feel you must buy one, save yourself about £90 and buy one direct from the manufacturer.

Thanx for joining the journey! - Okay... strange with the battery draining... do you have the latest Q3 firmware installed?

@@flofroschmayer Thanks for your reply! I would really appreciate if you make a video where you review the Q3 specifically for video use :-)

Oh. Thank you! Makes sense... I did not realise that! Thank you!

49mm. I got it directly from their website.
It seems that Smallrig is now offering an L-bracket and a cage specifically made for the Q3. I'm also looking for advice of users..
Yes they do!! They also have a cage for the SL2 and SL3. I did a video about that.
@@flofroschmayer great, thanks so much i'm going to check immediately

I don't know as I do not have a soft release button. Maybe someone else can anwser this question?
What reasonably priced flash unit is recommended for the Leica Q3?
Unfortunately I can’t help you with that … sorry. I have zero experience with flash photography… anyone else??? Please!!
Nice job! Thank you
Thank you!!
Useful video
Thank you! I am happy when it helps.
Where did you find that Ona Bowery case? Please send me a link.

I am not catching what type of filters you are using. Would you please clarify? Thanks

has anybody figured out how to set the camera up that AE is not locked via shutterbutton half press while using AF/S mode ( p.117 Q3 manual )
OEM half case is terrible. Can’t access USBc or the card slot, and there are reports that it scratches the camera body as well. Avoid
Okay. Thank you for this information!
OEM stands for?🤔
