Just a point about diffraction. - As the aperture of a lens is stopped down, depth of field increases but the proportion of image light that 'bends out of line' (i.e. is diffracted) round the aperture edge is greater. As a result the image is degraded by this 'bent out of line' (diffracted) light. This happens irrespective of the sensor or film. A sensor with more pixels is capable of recording finer image detail. With such sensors we can become more critical of image sharpness because extreme sharpness can be exploited to make cropping in or printing larger more successful. The video makes the good point that the level of diffraction that may be acceptable for a low resolution sensor may not be for a 60 megapixel one. Such a loss in general image sharpness must be weighed against depth of field required.
Great video. First time I’ve seen your channel but I’ll definitely be watching again. I bought my Q2 specifically for landscape photography and haven’t been disappointed. I frequently crop, sometimes to get a picture equivalent to 120mm+ and it’s perfectly ok. When I had a M11 I rarely saw much difference in its ability to handle a significant crop. I too use f8-ish most of the time but I’m not obsessed with front to back sharpness, especially when it is only really visible at 100%+ zoom on a computer screen. I often take infrared landscape pictures and usually use a tripod (I too have a tripod profile) and I’m happy cranking the ISO up to 800-1600, which I find is the sweet spot for the Q2.The lens OIS sometimes allows for handheld photography with a 780nm filter. In contrast, the M11's ability to handle low light let me use 5,000 ISO to get handheld pictures albeit ones that were improved by running through Topaz or DxO PureRaw.
Very nice review of Q3 for landscape. I purchased the camera for street photography but this video shows the various possibilities for landscape as well. Thank you for excellent recommendations.
Great Video and really great pictures. I love how you describe things. I also own the Q3 and I really love the versatility and the formfactor. It is the only camara I own and I dont regret not having other cameras. The Q3 28mm works really well as a Travelcamera. You can capture landscapes, architecture and Persons (if u dare to come a bit closer or crop a bit in). Sometimes I wish it would be a bit wider but I really think that the 28 is the sweetspot.
I get completely what you’re saying… sometimes I wish it was a 21 and then I wish it was a 50… can’t wait to try out the 43… but I am still also very happy owning a Voigtländer 12mm for my M!

Thank you!!
Thank you. Great informative video, I will now explore with my Q3
Thank you! Have fun exploring!!
Great video, thank you. My Q3 arrives tomorrow so this was very beneficial for me. Ian (UK)
Congratulations! I hope you’ll enjoy it!

It is not only front and back sharpness... the over all feel gets a bit soft ofer f8...
Thank you for the no charge offer. Appreciated.
Sure!
Super Video ! Vielen Dank! Mit dir sollte man mal einen Tag unterwegs sein können!
Danke! Ich hoffe, du folgst meinen Kanal, ich plane Fotowalks und Kurse für nächstes Jahr. News folgen!

photography is more about being there yourself
True.
Please do some with leica d lux 8 also….
I did some deluxe videos … unfortunately I don’t have one at my disposal anymore.
Great video. Would the same f8 logic apply to the Q2 with its 47MP sensor?
Yes. I would say it applies to every camera above 24MP.
Super nice, are you getting the Q3 43 ?
I am considering it… I’ll get one to test in the coming days… video will follow as soon as possible!
Like your informative video. Am not able to open setttings.Ics file
Oh no. I am sorry to hear that! Did you follow my explanation on my website?
Я з україни, рахую ваші відео чудовими! Так тримати!
Thank you!!
What about the 43?
I’m very interested in it! I‘ll get one to test next week… video will follow!
