Couple notes:
1. There are Ayreon live shows every year or so in the Netherlands based on content from the albums.
2. If you go online you can be the LIVE recordings of these events since you like live work so much.
3. You can get more information about each song , story and opera by simply looking up the Wikipedia article for each album.
4. The Human Equation is usually thought of as the best Ayreon album from an artistic point of view.
5. Listen to this song "Valley of the Queens" from the live version of Into the Electric Castle. It has Floor Jansen as well as Anneke van Gierbergen (another unique and popular vocalist) and Marcela Bovio (an amazing vocalist who fronted a band started by Arjen Lucassen).
Dude, this is not a good example of a 'youthful' Floor. Before this she was the lead singer of After Forever (1997-2009). She became their singer at the incredibly young age of 16 years old! How about that for 'youthful'... There are plenty of performances with After Forever on youtube you can see where Floor is actually really young. Like 19-21 years old. And you can already hear how impressive she was at that age. Mind blowing impressive actually. When After Forever disbanded she plunged into a deep hole. She had put everything she had in that band and now it was gone. She started a new band: Revamp. She wrote all the songs, did all the managing and finances. And gave everything she had on stage. But looking back now you can hear the anger, sadness and most of all desperation in her songwriting and performances from this time. She was a like a rocket burning out and about to crash. Soon after this performance with Revamp she did indeed 'crash' into a total mental and physical burnout. She was unable to do anything for more than a year. And then at her sisters wedding in 2012 a call came from Nightwish. 'Can you fly to the USA and replace our singer for the rest of the tour'? Oh yeah it's the day after tomorrow so you have 48 hours to learn our setlist.... The rest is history. This woman did not come out of nowhere.... She has been the lead singer of metal bands for almost 25 years now.
Yes, I told you........ Floor was a screaming Banshee before she became the Nightwish singer!!! It's still available under that nice coat of polish!
That's a beautiful way of putting it, Erwin.
Awesome! Banshee is the perfect word to describe her insane vocal range :)
@@CharlieCalottaReacts They did it for the live show, in the studio version the growls are made by the guy. Floor sing the chorus and the opera part. (btw the opera part sound insane with a choir behind in the studio version)
A bit of story about ReVamp and that era of Floor's career:
She started this project after After Forever was disbanded, I think it was sort of a continuation of the After Forever style, not as much symphonic but more progressive hard rock/metal, she was the leader and songwriter. They released 2 albums but at that point she had a burn out and had to stop touring for a while.
After that burn out passed she was ready to go back to work but was called by Tuomas (during her sister's wedding lol) to join Nightwish in replacement of their vocalist Annette which was sick while they were touring in USA. As far as I know, Annette didn't agree with that, presumably because Floor was so good that she feared she would stay forever, so they ended up parting ways with her for good.
Floor accepted to travel all the way to USA and "learn the setlist in 48 hours" (the title of the famous documentary that recaps the whole situation) and she performed the rest of the tour, including the DVD recording in Wacken 2013. She was shortly after confirmed officially to be the new permanent vocalist, and the rest is history.
It's worth noting that she still had a tour with ReVamp pending which she still completed afterwards, in 2014, before disbanding ReVamp. That speaks a lot about her professionalism and commitment with her partners in that band.
Her burnout was between the first and the second Revamp album
Ooh yes, Disdain! She's such a beast in this one.
Love the 'rock chick' vibe she's showing here: very different but as great as she always was and is.
I get more happy every time i watch youre reactions, not 1 other reactor give the specialist info about her voice and the way you explain, perfect, thanks and for now al best and healtful wishes for 2021
Wow, thank you! That is a HUGE compliment! Wishing you a happy and healthy new year too, Marcel!
She was 29 in 2010 when this concert was done.
Thanks, loved the reaction! I hope you check out more stuff of the earlier songs
As others have said more than once - most singers sing what they can. Floor sings what she wants.
Revamp - Wild Card next reaction
finally, Revamp. i have been waiting for two weeks.
now you can try Revamp - Wildcard
another vocal demanding metal song.
You know I love the vocal demands!
There is nothing like Lady Floor in full flow 🤘
The deeper growl a little into the song was the guitarist. She was singing the ' ahhhhh ' part.
I was going to comment this. It's indeed not all Floor, especially in the beginning of the video.
@@mykindamakeup They did it for the live show, in the studio version the growls are made by the guy. Floor sing the chorus and the opera part. (btw the opera part sound insane with a choir behind in the studio version)
Soilwork feat floor - let this river flow (live in helsinki)
If you where Nightwish and needed a leadsinger asap and have heared this ........................:)
The energy and passion of youth! Oh yah, a little anger as well.
It really was that hot..and the performance was awesome as a start of a festival weekend!
And the keyboard player is also from Ayreon and floor her solo covers now.
The song "wildcard" is also good, it came out a week or so after wacken 2013..
You should really check out "Kill Me With Silence" from the same concert. She goes wild and the some of the notes are awesome. Pretty please! :)
Vote up if you want Charlie to see this.
Now, THIS was the real Floor!!!!!!
At Revamp Era, Floor seems to be more "Unleashed" and overdrive Rocker. Amazing performances
You need to do Wildcard next Live!! One of the guys is growling when Floor is singing. Wildcard with the red dress. She turns 40 in February. This is before her burnout
Powerhouse.
I cant wait for more reactors to start doing revamp and after forever ....i keep recommending
This is Floors growl methodology, in Yours is an Empty Hope, shes doing it Tuomas' way.
Only 3 years till Wacken with Nightwish.
Two minor notes: 1) It was brutally hot during this concert (see what those in the audience are wearing). Floor finally had to ditch the leather jacket...and struggled mightily before she could finally get it off.
2) During another song, when walking (stalking?) back down the runway, she hurdles one of the speakers. In those heels.
hahahaha those are awesome annectodes. Good for her for letting that heat turn into straight up vocal energy
@@CharlieCalottaReacts ruclips.net/video/k5TuuuZbmxY/видео.html
@@werybigmonk Thank-you for sharing that video. She probably knows how to climb mountains in heels. LOL!
Another one is the microphone dying on her during one or two songs?
I think people were commenting that her voice was too much for the poor apparatus, hahaha!
She was vocal coach at this time
The guy roaring is he now in Epica? Looks and sounds like the same dude.
Is it just me or would anyone else love to hear Floor sing Jinjer's Pisces?
Hes not inEpica, that's Mark Jansen, also from After Forever
@@warhammer5690 They look and sound similar to me.
Awesome, thanks for checking this out. She did a lot of exploring and I like the way you put it, experimenting with her palette, while in Revamp. Loved your reaction and surprise at some of the things she was doing. Check out Wild Card and Trial of Monsters sometime, both are great. Take care!
You don't get dizzy so quickly anymore when you have a lot experience in headbanging. You really need to do the windmill for some time to feel it. Also you need to do a constant motion, don't abruptly shake your head. That way your innear ear doesn't get disoriented so strongly.
Me, having just turned 30 two days ago and being inspired by Nightwish since 2003, hearing your words on "discovering one's vocal colours": CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.
Floor wrote this song, as well as most of the music for ReVamp. Nightwish discovered Floor when ReVamp was opening for them at their concerts...
Here's 20 years old Floor hanging with Nightwish boys in After Forever era early 2000's. NW definitely knew her from the beginning.
www.reddit.com/r/nightwish/comments/dv9eqa/floor_with_nightwish_ten_years_before_joining_the/
Also ReVamp supported Nightwish tour(a few times 2013) after Floor joined NW. It's same famous Imaginaerum tour because ReVamp didn't even exist when NW was on previous tour(2007-2009).
In Wild Card is amazing, and sensual
Floor was about 29 years old here (2010). Now 2020 she's ehhhhhhhh 29 + 10 😉. Febuary 2021 -------> 40 !
21 feb. 1981. We should make it a holiday.
Just for the record - women becomes 29 years old - 30 times..... - trust me on that one. I bought my wife 29 red roses in 30 years = happy wife😁👍
I actually followed Floor from she was around 18 - 19, and she really could sing already then. But during her years at the rock academy and musical school, she became versatile like never before and her stage presence became superb.
She has been windmilling since she was around 9 and have actually had some fif from a physioterapeut - and later on her training helped her not getting any damage to her neck.
Next "Wild Card" with Revamp. She goes from operatic right in to deep growls.
This is not an actual example of a 'youthful' Floor. Before this she was the lead singer of After Forever (1997-2009). She became their singer at the incredibly young age of 16 years old! How about that for 'youthful'... There are plenty of performances with After Forever on youtube you can see where Floor is actually really young. Like 19-21 years old. Floor hits the big 40 on February 21st
Headbanging doesn't necessarily make you dizzy--especially when you're in practice; but, just like many other activities, you need to ease your way into it. You can get light headed and/or have a stiff neck the next day if you are not in practice.
She would have been in her late 20s here I think.
2010 so 28 or 29, yes.
@@fnglert Born 21 Feb. 1981
Try Wildcard by Revamp too!
That's ReVamp as well, not After Forever
@@Darkwrath93 yeah my bad!
As you see... Floor old times are.really fierce and brutal. Non Angélic at all. So metal, banger, much energy.
You should listen to her new "ave maria" She just dropped it on x-mass
Floor joined Nightwish in October 2012, however ReVamp ran from 2009 to 2016, so there was quite a bit of overlap. She was still performing live with ReVamp two years after joining Nightwish. Considering that she was also the main songwriter and the band manager for ReVamp, she was pushing her luck for another burnout. This performance of "Misery's No Crime" dates from January 2014, which 16 months after joining Nightwish: ruclips.net/video/SNPesLFTnUg/видео.html Check out the drastic vocal flip at 1:40. Her growl here is much more developed vs. this Graspop performance.
BTW, Floor growls in the live ReVamp performances, but not on the albums, where one of the dudes takes on the task.
luckely she was in revamp there met she her husband in america they were both revamp and sabaton in one show
She paused and stopped ReVamp in 16 so she could start a family.
@@paulriddle7818 The reason given was that Floor could not giver her full attention to two bands.
@@billattercliffe8655 im aware. i saw her say that. and since she and her husband had been waiting for the tour to end to start a family.
Please, "Here's my Hell" live at Bloodstock 2014. 🤭
Revamp - trial of monsters
She still hasn’t fully developed her growling here. Unfortunately, later shows weren’t professionally recorder, we have only a few more or less nice fancams from MFVF 2013.
Btw, can you react ReVamp - Trial of Monsters live?
