You, Floor, Anneke, and Sharon, I want to thank for sharing your beautiful voices with the world. Unleashed and Consign to Oblivion are not songs. They are masterpieces. It was so funny when Elizabeth saw the live performance of Consign to Oblivion, worried about the audience members participating in The circle of death 😂💜
Oh, I'm so happy Simone accepted your interview. Hope you could get also Dianne van Giersbergen, which is another dutch gem in the symphonic metal scene.
@Joshivr would be very interesting. Of all the Dutch metal diva's Dianne van Giersbergen is the one who is truly classically trained. She really is an opera singer turned metal vocalist.
What do you mean "starting to"? She already had the singers of some of the biggest bands in current rock and metal on her show (e.g. Alter Bridge, Shinedown, Halestorm, Sabaton, Dream Theater and Arch Enemy). Simone Simons is a welcome addition to an already decently long list of high-profile singers!
Elizabeth's tea time interviews are already amazing! She had Alyssa, Arjen, and the episode with Will Ramos just to name a few. Now, Simone! Elizabeth is doing an incredible job ❤️❤️❤️
Simone and her Band Epica are a big part of my life. I've been there since the Phantom Agony. They got me through some tough moments. See you in a few months in Brussels.
In 2021 when Delta Covid hit, I lost my cousin and some friends almost at the same time. The work load was crazy because of the recession. I didn't have time to mourn, let alone cry. But that evening Epica was playing in my laptop and "The Canvass of Life" plays. I couldn't hold myself and I cried like a baby. I realized I haven't really mourn properly. Now that I know the story behind the song, it makes me wanna cry again. Thank you Elizabeth and Simone for this beautiful interview. ❤

Zharoff, will manage to bring Floor Jansen and Sharon den Adel into the fold as well. Thank you both for a great 2 hours!
I saw Epica at Hellfest and next week I'll see them at their Anniversary concert - I feel lucky there are such amazing bands, and singers. Thank you both for a very enjoyable interview.
I've been dreaming so hard for this to happen! I can't believe you're going to interview Simone! Thank you for doing these interviews. Epica got me through my most difficult times, hearing Simone's beautiful voice melted all the negativity away even if just for a moment.
I’m so happy to see this interview, and not just because Simone is such an amazing vocalist. I met Simone with the rest of Epica backstage in 2010 and she is one of the nicest people you could ever meet. Knowing how many vocalists in rock/metal have massive egos, this was great to see.
I've seen them four times in Denver since 2011. The first time I saw them, my girlfriend at the time asked to meet Simone, which was something I'd never do myself, but Mark said he'd go ask her to come say hi. She obliged and took pics with us. The next time I saw them, I was with a different girl and after the show Mark was again walking about out. When I spotted him and walked up to say hi, he said to me "you have a kiss on your cheek!" My girlfriend had kissed me and her lipstick was quite brightly visible. The next time I saw them, that girlfriend had become my wife, and we waited after the show to see if Mark would be around. We didn't spot him that time-instead, he saw us first and said hi to us. We didn't get to talk for more than a few minutes before a bunch of people started asking for photos. They're playing a much larger venue than those previous shows in Denver this month , so I don't expect my wife and I will get to talk to Mark again. But he'll know we're there because I'm getting us right up to the stage no matter what it takes.
@@reshpeck I've been two 2 Epica shows, never met any of the band members, but I had a brief email correspondence with Mark about religion and philosophy in 2007.
@@reshpeck Good question. I don’t know how Mark's thoughts on this subject have evolved, but I'm pretty sure they have. The early albums have a lot of anti-religion songs, but I remember in an interview (about The Holographic Principle, I believe) Simone alluded to Mark's faith, contrasting it with herself as more of a skeptical thinker.
@@Sarcasticron You read my mind. I don't think he was ever an atheist by any means but certainly critical of religion, and more power to him. But he definitely seems to have embraced a more formal structure to his spirituality, and I think that's great.

OMG it's happening! this is Incredibile! well deserved Elisabeth! with your amazing personality and high quality contents you are reaching these amazing artists who have changed our lives with their talents! thank you!
What I notice about Elizabeth Zharoff is that she obviously has a very very high Intelligence Quotient and is very humble about it. Her ability to break down vocal aspects of songs floors me every time I listen. She hears things I would never detect and these evaluation breakdowns really help people to understand just how difficult it is to be a quality vocalist. Just keeping timing with the flow of a song (by the vocalist) is a basic prerequisite that many just assume is easy. It’s not! 👏
She is actually a mind blowing opera singer as well. I heard a few songs here and there, things like Skyrim related stuff lol. Then I listen to her sing straight up classic Italian opera and I was like hold on she's got a whole amplifier factory down there
I feel like an absolute smooth brain when Elizabeth talks but that's what intrigued me. She is very intelligent and deep. I love seeing someone so passionate about something as complex as vocalization. I can't sing to save my life so vocalists and musicians in general feel like enchantment wizards. Music is life so enjoy.🤘
Yes! Love getting to know a little more about Simone. I get to see Epica at the Ryman, in Nashville, and the Tabernacle, in Atlanta on back-to-back nights in early October.
Congrats, Elizabeth! Such a nice interview! I've been a fan of both Epica and Simone since I was 15 years old. Since then, I completed my higher education on Classical Voice Performance and am finishing a specialization on Vocal Pedagogy. Many of the questions you asked her, I always wanted to know! Only a fellow classical singer/voice instructor like yourself (and such a kind person), would do this type of interview. Thank you! It was a delight watching it. :)
I've tickets for the anniversary show, and desperately hoping our travel goes ok. If it's even close to the 10th anniversary show it will be the experience of a lifetime
I think I was waiting about 2 years for that. I love Epica and Simone is simply awesome! To be honest when I heard Simone is pregnant I was afraid it will be end of Epica. And then they released one of the best if not the best album :)
You've had some major league talents on this show and I'm grateful that you are reaching out to them and sharing their work and stories. Tea time interviews have been fascinating. And I love how upbeat and excited you always are - its contagious. Simone is absolutely God-teir. This interview was great. Thank you.
So many things as a man you never have to think of. Thanks for shining a light on those topics. This is interesting and much more than I thought it would be. Education as it should be...again thanks ladies. 🥰
Symphonic metal is wonderful I'm 64 and have lived through the British invasion of the 60s and 70s then here in America things started to flatten out through the 80s and 90s to me it's been a very long time since new music excited or just plain blown me away. But since discovering symphonic metal I'm proud to be here for the European invasion
I had the pleasure of seeing Epica live when they came to Melbourne, such a great band. At the end of the night Simone apologised to the crowd for being a little off her game due to illness (Honestly she was still fantastic, no one noticed anything was wrong and she really didn't have anything to apologise for). Later that week she publicly announced her pregnancy!
This is going to be excellent! Going to see Epica here in Seattle next month. Simone was pregnant about 3 months when she did the duets with Floor during the 10th anniversary Epica show. (She probably mentions that.) Epica is been jamming for 20 years this year. Ain't that amazing!
This was such an amazing interview!!.. relaxed and lenghty! I've been an Epica fan and follower since May 2005. And on December of that year I could see them live and meet them in person as well. Can't wait to see them again this next November.
I know Epica from a long time ago, when I saw them in my hometown Zwolle in The Netherlands, headbanging at the front of the crowd close to the stage, where she joined us! :) Her rendition of Memory still brings me to tears, though, it being the favorite of my late grandma, and Simone delivers it with so much feeling.
I just saw Simone and Epica last week in Philadelphia. I just became aware of them within the last few months and it was one of the most impressive shows I've seen.
All of us that love Epica should send flowers to that teacher that pushed Simone into singing lessons 🙏♥️ Imagine a world where Simone hadn't become a singer 😮
@@ralfmeyer9086 absolutely. But Epica was created in 2002 and Nightwish in 1996. Epica was the modern band, bringing symphonic metal. For Nightwish I like more when Tarja sang with the band, with all the respect.

I'm really excited for this one. I actually discovered symphonic metal through your channel and Epica has been one of my favorite bands over the past couple years. Simone is awesome and her voice is incredible
I love Simone and her voice! She is also so beautiful! My 2023 wish is for more Simone and Floor Jansen duets like Sancta Terra live. Can you imagine both bands, orchestra, and choir together on one stage? All the best to everyone in 2023.
Thanks for that amazing interview, I follow Epica since 2004 and its amazing to see how Simone blossomed and got more and more competent in her talent and element throughout the years, she deserves all the compliments, also Queen of the Ballads, certainly belongs to her! One of your next choices of interview should be Tarja Turunen, a sweetheart and a pioneer when it comes to use of voice and techniques in the metal field mixing classical and operatic voice. Same goes for Floor Jansen! Keep up the amazing work! 🖤
Ooooh! This is super interesting. Trying to learn even more with this! I've admired Simone (and Epica) since I watched the "We Will Take You With Us" DVD... It was 20 (20 something years ago) and it's funny that since being a child, I loved classical singing. And I always used to sing classically to put my brothers to sleep... So Simone inspired me to get lessons and I grew along with her...but now it got out of my hand!! Simone's voice is still evolving, it's crazy! Already saw them live this year... 😉
Ohh i have pretty similar story and found them at the same time with Nightwish within temptation after forever and evanescence at 2003 .wow..so happy to read other similar story...my singing classical lessons helped me a lot to sing and therapeutic time with their music and lyrics . So happy to keep listening all of them!(grow up in Argentina at those time) and this year saw Nightwish live at Finland..such a gift time!
Now I'm even more hyped for next weekend in Tilburg with the 20th anniversary show! I know I will be blown away! Thank you for this amazing interview Elizabeth! 🖤

ooh lovely chat between you and Simone! So cozy and real. Loved it! Great interview!
Marriage, Maturity and Motherhood has enhanced Simones voice immeasurably. She is now utterly glorious.
I've tickets for the anniversary show, and desperately hoping our travel goes ok. If it's even close to the 10th anniversary show it will be the experience of a lifetime
See you in 013 next weekend! I hope Epica brings the 20th anniversary show to us on bluray/dvd too, so it is ours FOREVER AND EVER!
Thank you.
I just love her. Saw them in Vegas a few years ago, and going to see them again in SLC next month. I'm stoked, she's such a classy lady!
Saw Epica here in Vegas as well (At Vinyl @ former Hard Rock Casino)
So many things as a man you never have to think of.
Thanks for shining a light on those topics.
This is interesting and much more than I thought it would be.
Education as it should be...again thanks ladies. 🥰
OMG!!! Another incredible amazing interview! Bravo!
Wow ladies can talks for hours. Thanks and Limburg is proud and Simone and Epica.
Rewatching this now, this is probably my favourite Tea Time so far!
I've been on Epica concert some weeks ago. Simone and the band gave us great evening. She has beautiful voice and epic songs.
Ps. please come back to Australia one day!
This is the interview we have been waiting 20 years for ! Thank you 🙏! Congrats on your baby 😊
Absolutely loved seeing Epica and Sabaton last year on the USA tour, hope they come back soon!
Amazing interview. Simone is so beautiful and a wonderful singer. She has a sweet but also powerful voice 🤩
I just saw Simone and Epica last week in Philadelphia. I just became aware of them within the last few months and it was one of the most impressive shows I've seen.
Yeah they slayed this tour, see nothing but positive comments about the shows
All of us that love Epica should send flowers to that teacher that pushed Simone into singing lessons 🙏♥️
Imagine a world where Simone hadn't become a singer 😮
I know, right? She could have been a model or something, but what a waste that would be.
I think that Epica take the symphonic metal to a higher stage. Simone is always lovely.
You forget Nightwish, hihi 🤗But you are right, this two Bands create her own Genre
🤘
@@ralfmeyer9086 absolutely. But Epica was created in 2002 and Nightwish in 1996. Epica was the modern band, bringing symphonic metal. For Nightwish I like more when Tarja sang with the band, with all the respect.
@@EvisMucaTvp oh no ,i totally not agree with you. The time with Tarja, ok. But today Nightwish is SYNPHONIC Metal . Hear Human. :!!:Nature .But only my opinon (i have only little problems with Tarja Minions).
34:42 - If you are curious, the rock opera that Simone mentioned is Equilibrio of a Dutch musical project Xystus (Equilibrio is from 2008 so created just before Design Your Universe from 2009). You should definitely check it out, especially 'My Song Of Creation'
Yes! I used to be SO in love with that song during my high school years! Simone has always been my role model n. 1!
I'm really excited for this one. I actually discovered symphonic metal through your channel and Epica has been one of my favorite bands over the past couple years. Simone is awesome and her voice is incredible
went to five epica concert and they are amazing, obviously Simone is a queen, unfortunately ill miss the 20 years concert
Dutch genetics are on a different level
Honestly, I swear like half of the great symphonic singers are from there, not to mention they’re all drop dead gorgeous
@@evilemuempire9550simone and sharon bro ❤
Vikings... 😉
@@Mesut_DURMUSthe Dutch aren't viking related... at least not more than the French or English are..
@@Mesut_DURMUS Vikings are from Norway though.....
I agree with both. TARJA is the loveliest in interviews.
Wow, I’m seeing Epica next month as they are opening for Sabaton.
What an incredible singer Simone is. And seems like a lovely person also 😊
She was very kind when I met her. Gave me two free tickets to a show when I told her I had to miss an Epica concert!
This one was the best " Tea Time Interview"... Thanks a lot Elizabeth Zharoff!
You two are so cute! I'm anxiously wating for November to see Epica live for the first time in Buenos Aires. Elizabeth, your content is really good. I love how your prepare for your interviews. Excellent quality!
