Wrong! There's an interview of Floor and Troy on RUclips where Floor is directly asked if she is a Valkyrie. She answers No and that she is not and that swords and fighting are not her thing. So have some respect!
What a nice video! As a black woman who enjoy metal music I have experienced a lot of situations where people act like "I wasn't supposed to be there", like as a lead singer in a metal band, for example. You girls have been inspiration for me to keep strong on my positions since my teenagers time, at 2005~2008 when I was dealing with my grandma-mother pass away and a new school, new city... appreciating your music and your voices was the way I found to deal with everything at that time, was something I had that helped me to see beauty in life. Happy day! Greetings from a brazilian in Argentina.
Keep it up and don't let anyone stop you from achieving your dreams. You should check out an all female Brazilian metal band Nervosa for inspiration, if you haven't already ✌️
Sorry to read you had to go through that..how is that can be possible! Anyway metal music has no boundries or something like that! Take care and stay safe 🤘🏻🤘🏻
As someone who's always been a metalhead I think metal will only suffer all the more if all possible diversity is unexplored. I'm glad you remain strong in your pursuit and I hope you inspire even more people like you.
Floor and Simone are superwomen. The only time I've ever seen Floor in real life I was so amazed! It was after the show in Toronto on Decades tour (which was the best musical experience in my life) . We waited for the band members at the back door of the venue. Floor was touring with one year old Freja at the time. It was nearly midnight, first guys showed up (Troy, Tuomas, Marko, Kai) and kind of distracted the crowd. And then I saw Floor leaving the building with a baby highchair in her hands... I was watching her heading towards her touring buss and on one hand I wished I could say at least a couple of words to her, but on the other I just had so much respect for her, I didn't want to bother her.. Like being on tour for weeks in the buss, having new concerts every day in a new city - is hard. Being on that kind of tour with a baby, staying loving mom and absolutely professional musician - is nearly impossible.. I was pregnant with my third daughter at that time and my middle daughter was also 1y.o. So the only thing I could think of when I saw her was: "Run, Floor, run! You deserve it, a tiny bit of privacy, good sleep and personal time with your child.". Dear Floor, I really have no idea how you do that...)) Ewo was really kind and helped me out to deliver a little gift for Freja)) really hope one day I will have another opportunity to say hi and how much I love your music and your incredible voice!! Your and Simone's voices are my everyday inspiration, trying to be a better version of myself and raising my daughters)) Happy International Women's day!! You are amazing. PS Excuse my English, it's not my first language)
As a young mother I can say Floor is very very thankful to you. On a different note, your comment was very polite and modest which is very rare to find nowadays on the internet. Love from bangladesh
This is so cool! I feel like Simone especially has been judged over the years for being femenine and having other interests besides metal. I remember reading so many comments saying she ditched music for make up and her blog, as if one couldn't succeed in both areas...
She deleted her old youtube account I think in part because she was getting a lot of hate in the comments for her more traditionally feminine interests. So you're totally right about that. Thankfully those types of haters seemed to have finally started to disappear.
@@Syncratci I’m sad to hear that ! I love Simone and following her make up tips on Instagram! I had no idea that she had to delete her RUclips channel... I guess Instagram is the right platform for her :)
As a woman in my mid 40s, I am inspired by you both. I definitely agree that as we age, we are more comfortable in our skin. I wouldn’t go back to my insecure youth for anything! Rock on, beautiful ladies 🤘🏻
Low 40s but started going gray at 21. Now I am natural with gray and brown. We have lived and our lines etc show it. “Battle” scars whether it’s from enjoying life or not. We are who we are and not be judged by appearances. Still boggles the mind. Our bodies and looks up for discussion, our intelligence up for discussion, sexual partners still a huge issue for many. Some are still double standards all over. Then different religions and cultures where women are forced to submit. That won’t change quickly. The man is the head of the house. I disagree, the one with the most experience in a decision is the person of the house in that aspect. I hope ppl can follow what I am saying. Yes many are still viewed as barefoot, pregnant and being in the kitchen. Men need to teach their sons about that and equality. It doesn’t make you anything less for not being the main breadwinner etc. The list goes on. I also have to say, I do still appreciate gentlemen opening doors or let women sit on a bus etc. However it’s not our right to expect it, but we do have to say thank you for the gesture. Many women and men probably are confused. You want to be equal expect men to treat you like a man, that has nothing to do with manners. If a woman doesn’t say ty when a guy does something nice for them, I get peeved, the sane the other way around. RESPECT is what is missing in todays society and manners on both sides. Apologies for the venting
@Devil's Daughter I definitely agree. I'm also in my mid 40s and I wish I could have been more accepting of my body when I was in my 20s. I'm so much more comfortable in my skin now with my stretchmarks, belly-fat and all else.
@@cancelled_user that's a matter of taste. Some like the Epica from these times more then from the old times and some just the opposite :-) My top five albums are: 1. TQE (incl. b sides) 2. Omega 3. DYU 4. THP 5. TPA, I base this favourite albums on basis how many songs I really love on the mentioned albums, but for sure I love all the albums and listen to them on regular basis and must say that Omega still grows on me.
@@fritsyt2090 All of Epica's albums are fantastic - how many artists can say they released eight (or more) of those in succession? Very few at all - three of them are Epica, Nightwish, and Floor Jansen (as lead vocalist).
I look up to both these women so much. I'm 31 this year, but I feel like a child in comparison to Floor and Simone's experiences. My adolescence was heavily shaped by women in metal. Floor, Tarja, Sharon, Simone -- they were the women who showed me it was okay to stand my ground as a woman, an artist, and as a mother. This was a great Floor Finds!
I have to say i am most thankful for my wife and my 3 daughters, and my grand daughters. The two of you have single-handed changed the face of metal music today, you have empowered women to do and be whatever they want, and to take not take NO for an answer.
22:49 "Role models should show their flaws or be open about them as well." Very well put, indeed! Honesty and directness without being rude goes a long way.
I love these two Women Floor Jansen and Simone Simons Are Beautiful Musicians, Both inside and out, Beautiful Souls, Beautiful minds and beautiful Women, Keep Doing What You two are doing I am 56 and a Musician And I think You two are just Beautiful Metal Music is by far the best there is especially when it Comes from You two, Floor? You are Beautiful and You always will be, Simone You are really beautiful too and you always will be as well, You two are my favorite females of Metal no lie !!!!!
I started listening to metal at the age of fifteen, now I am twenty-seven, I started listening to Nightwish, Epica, After Forever, The Gathering, and Leave's Eyes. I started studying music thanks to the influence that these wonderful women made on me. Thanks to that I have never stopped to do something just because I'm a woman, thank you for inspiring me, Simone and Floor, you are two of my favorite inspirations in the whole world. Send you so much love, greetings from Mexico City. 🤍🖤💛
I know this video is a couple years old at this point, but it feels like the right place to bring it up, especially as you touched on beauty in the video. I recently went to see the Epic Apocalypse tour, yes it was absolutely worth the long wait, and several of my colleagues asked me which bands it was, what style of music and so on. I would ofc. end up sharing a link or two to some Epica songs, that I felt a non-metalhead could listen to and not be scarred for life. The responses would always be the same. "She's REALLY beautiful!" from non-metalheads, while the few metalheads would go "Damn, she can SING!". It honestly annoys me, yes Simone is beautiful, but her looks don't make her such a talented singer, that comes from hard work and dedication.
Beautiful chapter of "Floor Finds" and so important. Thank you for dedicating this chapter to honor women on this day. It's such an emotional day for women on my country (Mexico) given the safety, plead to stop violence, state and position of women here and all over the world.
God afternoon from Southerner California, United States. I just watched the duet of you both singing Santa Mater. Your skill was extraordinary. Excellent video, I am so impressed with your crossover. You are both gorgeous, you are aging beautifully, however your skill and talent is the focus for me. Thank you for your work. Enjoy your day.
I'm a guy that enjoys the sound of the female voice more than the male. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of male vocalists I absolutely love, but man, am I ever happy we're seeing more and more women getting behind the mic and making the music. Japan is especially killing it in this regard (BAND-MAID!). There's also a lot to be said for aging gracefully, for both men and women. To be blunt, Madonna, for example, looks so weird now...please, don't either of you ever go that route.
Ladies, I can't get over how great singers you both are! Your bands are out of this world, something special to kill for just to get a good seat at one of your concerts, but their musicians would be nothing without your touch of class. Love you to the Moon and back.
Dear Floor & Simone, I can't thank you enough for everything you've brought to this world. You both are my favorite singers ever and I admire your careers! I just love that my daughter who's just 2 years old is growing with the image of such strong, independent and talented women! Stay safe and healthy!
When my wife and I started dating, I was stunned that she was still single. She's beautiful to the point where I've seen men stop in their tracks looking at her, she's incredibly intelligent, she has a great laugh and a wonderful smile, and she's quite outgoing. On one of our early dates, we asked each other why the other is still single. She told me the few guys she'd dated as an adult were insecure about how much she makes ($350K per year or, more importantly, more than them) and didn't like when she would offer to pay for things like meals, movies, etc. Fortunately for me, I've never been the type to be intimidated, I'm not after her money, and we've been married for five *wonderful* years.
ego is possibly the single most limiting part of the human experience! I find it odd that males would have a problem with their partner earning more than they do as it is all just a perception that others will be judging them and it is also a sign that the world they live in is yet to embrace women fully into their society as an equal. I am glad you have found each other!
@@mnewm21, what's funny is how we met. I have Crohn's disease, and I was having a bad flare. I went to the ER and got my future wife as a doctor. I was given morphine and didn't want to ask her out while doped up, but when I was released, I regretted it. A few months later, I was her patient again for the same reason. She looked at me, smiled, and said, "I remember you!" It turns out that while I'm rather plain looking, she remembered me because I was polite during a night of her being called a bitch over and over by heroin addicts whose lives she just saved. The second night, I was determined to ask her out, so when I did, she stared at me for a few seconds and said she'd think about it. About an hour and a half later, she came back into my little room in the ER, told me what my CT scan results were, and then handed me a little slip of paper with her name and number on it. I found out later that the reason she said yes was because I was making her laugh while having a flare, and she figured I was worth taking a chance on if I could do that while I was at my worst. Plus I was kind, looked her in the eyes while talking to her, actually listened instead of waiting to talk, and had good initial chemistry with her. Plus she knew I wouldn't be after her money since I'm an optometrist. Thank you for your reply. I can't imagine losing a woman like her for such a stupid reason as those other love interests had, but oh well!
@@PaleHorseShabuShabu right place right time it was meant to be! Hmm sounds like you had an advantage you are used to looking people in the eyes :D Cheers for the story mate!
Thanks for the shoutout to boy nurses, Floor! I see more and more. We are not so rare anymore! It's like a 1:5 ratio now! And when Simone said "believe in yourself and don't be distracted by other people's opinion," I couldn't help but sing, "no heed for shadows on your way that try to steal your laughter. Your light will drive them all away. Be confident."
It’s amazing that these two women are two of the most iconic female musicians in the metal world and still going strong and being relatable. Metal needs more women, both as musicians and as an audience. It’s time the stereotype of metal as male dominated genre to end. Simone, Tarja, Floor, Liv are really pioneers. Happy international women’s day girls and keep rocking! ❤️🌷🎼

You both are too humble to acknowledge it, but you are indeed role models for girls, women and everyone in general. Your art (music) and voices are wonderful, you reach so many people emotionally through your music and yet still are so down to earth and just genuinely nice and intelligent human beings. Thank you for your fantastic music and letting us fans be part of your life. And I'm hoping to hear another Floor and Simone duet in the near future! ;-)
Thank you Floor and Simone for this amazing conversation! Both of you have made great contribution to the music's world. And I'm sure you have inspired many women to make it too, despite everything. And Happy Women's Day wonderful ladies! 🤗
Having a daughter has really made me concerned for self image imposed on women. I hope my guidance will teach her to love her self and not give a shit about how she is perceived. As long as she loves herself, that's all that should matter. I love this video ladies! As a woman that is also surrounded by guys and a young mother, this video has been a really important one!
With out a doubt Simone and floor are my favorite female singer artists on the planet such amazing and beautiful people lots of love to you both And Happy Women’s Day ❤️🌹❤️🌹🎤🎶🎼
Thank you ladies for this chat. Yes, metal heads are the best people I've ever met. Kind, respectful and many of them highly intelligent. Over the years I had just one negative experience - a concert promoter was trying to lecture me on how to be more successful in the music business. He told me I should dye my hair blond, wear a skirt and high heels. He was sharing this information as if he was giving me some kind of a secret tip LOL Mind you, I'm not on stage, I'm an interviewer. This guy didn't know anything about me or my career but he automatically assumed I can't be successful being myself in heavy boots, jeans and a leather jacket.
I was just thinking, hmm, wonder if Jen has seen this yet? And of course you have! This must be the only video with Floor that didn't make you cry... Or did it? LOL!
it's not important, if you are 17, 30, 50, 70 years old. Or if you are pretty, ugly, fat... Your voice as a singer is only thing what matters. And your voices are damn good! That's why we love you ;)
@@dwschiu Heh, true dat - he worked with them both, before Arjen did, although Arjen still managed to work with both Sharon den Adel & Floor Jansen before either got very famous - quite fun how the Dutch scene's relations between bands intertwine. I grew up listening to Floor and Simone. Nowadays we are almost the same age, it’s wonderful to feel so much related to them and their experiences. Thanks for being such an inspiration 💜

All good here mate, looking forward to the lockdown and COVID to pass and normality to resume (fingers crossed) . wishing you health and happiness ....keep in touch and love to your family x take care and keep listening to Epica and Nightwish 🤘
That's what I call a synchronicity, I was talking today about the two women that I admired the most and who inspire me: Simone Simons & Floor Jansen. I had the chance to see you both on stage, with your respective bands and also together during Epica concert (I've seen Nightwish 7 times, Epica 12 times, and I hope to see you again). The energy of Floor, her presence, her voice, her versatility, her technique... I have never seen an audience being so stunned by an artist. On the other side, I'm almost sure that Simone is an hologram (The Holographic Principle is an indisputable proof of a Divine Conspiracy). Otherwise it means that you can be an incredible singer, performer, songwriter (of the song that I find the most beautiful and moving on Earth: Once Upon A Nightmare), have the sense of humor and be one of the most beautiful woman in the world. It would be too much for one person. One thing is sure, if I was a woman, I would like to be a Goddess of Metal. Thank you.
Being from Canada and older than you two ladies, in the 70's and 80's we has a lot of women in Rock and Metal to look up to. The earliest I remember was Darby Mills from the Headpins, then Lee Aaron, Toronto (actual name of the band), Sass Jordan, Amanda Marshall, Sarah McLaughlin, and Alannah Myles. I'm sure they faced their own harassment coming up, but I'm happy for me ladies who rocked was never a strange or unwelcome. Both you ladies are awesome. Please keep doing what you do, and if you need allies, I'm there for it.
I want to thank you both for being my role models and inspiration. Because of you I want to persuade a career in metal as a woman. I will always keep focussing on my goal like Simone said. Thank you both❤️
this is a great and good conversation about epic singers both off them thanksssssssssss . But real man have respect for woman thats learn my parents but because i am dutch. and old
Oh dear, on International women's Day, that is in interesting choice of words, even in jest. I'm not sure any womens relationships need the 'approval" of others.
It's interesting that you've chosen Simone to talk and do this chit chat about genders because I've read many disrespectful male comments about her because she is pretty and when a woman is pretty, some men stop thinking and don't respect your work...
yeah ppl can never be pleased, I remember men also making fun of Floor too for being too tall or the other way, they just dont like when women sing in metal and make fun of it
I still see people saying that in was unfortunate that in Retrospect she was pregnant and she should have timed it better. That woman was pregnant, singing like an angel, headbanging and being adorable for three hours. Show some respect
You know it is possible for us men to appreciate beauty and still enjoy Simone's work and talent - our brains do not completely shut down as you assume. But I do agree Simone was indeed judged as being "fake" when she started her own career because she didn't quite fit into the typical metalhead girl stereotype that tended to be tomboys. I think that stereotype has gone away for a while now as there have been an ever increasing number of "metal barbies" like Maria Brink or Mizuho Lin in the scene so people eventually accepted the fact that extremely feminine women could also enjoy metal just as others.
@@gencoserpen1260 I'm not assuming, I'm affirming, if you reread my comment which I think you haven't, that SOME men stop respecting women when they see that a woman is pretty. I've read comments about Simone, It doesn't matter what you say because that's the reality and I'm talking about some, not all. I never make generalizations. But it's good you are one of those exceptions and you appreciate Simon's work because she sings wonderfully.
I see two sensitive, intelligent, amazing musicians and vocalists. Period! Wonderful to hear what both of you have to say. Thank you Floor for helping us all to get to know Simone a little better. Love and respect you both so much! 😊😊😊💖💖💖🎶🎶🎶🤘🤘🤘🎙✌🐺🐕🐎👑
It was WONDERFULL to hear Floor and Simone talk about wrinkles and botox and accepting age as it comes. I'm in my 30's, first concert I've ever been in my life was a Nightwish one and I was 14 - to age and see your idols age with grace and without fillers, botox, and all that "beauty cult" it's like a warm hug on these weird times where women have a wax looking face. I really needed to hear this from such an amazing, talented and beautiful person like Floor, definitely made my day and gave me such a self esteem boost.
This is one of the best interview discussion that I have seen in a very long time. Incredibly articulate and addressing reality. I'm glad both of you have a strong self image. A great discussion for International Women's Day.
I love you both soooooo much! Floor you gave new life and FIRE to Nightwish ( one of my top 3 fav bands). Your live performance at Wacken in 2013 is absolutely glorious!!! Simone, i love all of your work with Epica , how you’ve grown so gracefully with those guys creating music that is more to art than entertainment. I saw Epica in Seattle 09-11-2017 and I literally drove 3 hours to see the show. The music here has no substance and about 6 years ago my cousin in Holland came to visit and introduced me to Epica and Nighwish and when my marriage fell apart and my wife was gone and my little boy i had no one to turn to who cared, my own family wanted me to just go away out of sight out of mind they said. Epicas music especially the Quantum Enigma Album literally saved my life! It gave me the quiet, calm and perceptive way of seeing the world and how all us have the ability to shape our own reality to suit our needs. So Thank you ! I hope someday the kind of music both of you wonderful women manifest will become mainstream here in the US and put a stop to the awful, talentless garbage that is played on every radio station. Its sad 😢 we literally have next to no rock stations and no metal ones. Please come play in Washington State soon
Great conversation, great observations, philosophies, advice, wisdom, messages - wish people in power would take note! AND two great singers, two great bands, two great albums in the last year - awesome awesome awesome!!!
I am in the UK. I have 2 male cousins who are nurses and a female one who is an engineer on Royal Navy submarines so the stereotypes are definitely breaking down.
I am very impressed with your comments here. Only what I would expect. You both sing with incredible intelligence. And two of the most beautiful women of metal. Still, so no worries girls. LOL. I've followed you, Floor, thru After Forever and Re Vamp. Your connecting with Night Wish a match made in heaven. Epica first Euro metal band I discovered. Changed my life. Now with Delain, Within Temptation, Serenia just to name a few music has new life for me. Bucket list? Waken festival. LOL. Let me just say to you both. Thank you for being who you are. Thank you for sharing your art. My world a better place with Euro Symphonic Metal. In it. By the way. This fan? From California. Missouri now. LOL
What a wonderful and insightful chat! It was so nice to see you Dutch metal queens together again. Huge respect to you guys and all the women of metal, in the forefront and behind the scenes. 🤘🏾❤
I was in the metal since since my 12th year, since 1987 and I still find the metal scene a nice one. Maybe because there are a lot of males, but I rarely had disrespectful comments or negative experiences. Neither as a female musician. It is also about our own attitude I think. Like Simone I am pretty straight forward and direct. Just don't cross my boundaries or you will get the evil eye :D Proud of you Dutch ladies! I am very thankful for my three daughters. They mean the world to me
Floor, it's great that you are comfortable with the changes that come with age. I think it's sad that so many people do so much to try to avoid letting those changes show. Celebrities and famous people should be allowed to age just like "average, everyday" people do, instead of being so preoccupied with how they look or how they think they look to others. You are beautiful inside and out! Continue to be proud of who you are and what you have accomplished. I wish you the best each and every day, and want to thank you for what you have given us!
Yesss. Two strong, beautiful women of metal. I’ve always appreciated Floor’s work, she’s got a really beautiful and strong vocal range, and after watching this video I love her even more. Rock on ladies 🤘🏻
When I first heard you sing, about 20 years ago the first thing I thought was "oh my god, can a woman sing like that?" And yes, you can! There are an endless number of things that we women can do / be and every day we are going to discover them. So thank you for being a woman who inspires other women!
I just want to say that I love this such unique, powerful and most of all, beautiful voices from beautiful women, and we have to continue appreciating the differences between men and women with love and respect. Long live metal and blessings for all of you
I’m attracted to positive energy, love Metal/rock and I’m and old Metal/Head. The first time I saw a all women’s Rock band was a band called Fanny. The 15 year old in me was immediately attracted to these women, but the revelation was after the concert, myself and four of my high school friend and girlfriends talked only how great this Rock band was and nothing about they were women. That molded me to embrace the music and not molded me into a gender. Yes do I find you both attractive( I’m a guy) yes but I’m a fan of both of you for bring me amazing songs in Metal and for that I can never thank you enough. God Bless both of you and all musicians singers & songwriters, Please Rock On Stay Safe and God Bless!🙏🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

Your attitude was so respectful. Thank you for sharing your experience
As a young mother I can say Floor is very very thankful to you. On a different note, your comment was very polite and modest which is very rare to find nowadays on the internet. Love from bangladesh
Very respectful comment and story. :) Floor is lucky to have you as one of her fans !
I hope Floor reads your comment. That was so thoughtfull of you. Cheers.
If I were a woman, I would probably love to try her makeup tips!
@@Rutjan666 you don't have to be a woman to be allowed to try anything...

Two really talented, stunning fantastic women.
Just my view, and a really good learning and sharing opportunity.
@Devil's Daughter I definitely agree. I'm also in my mid 40s and I wish I could have been more accepting of my body when I was in my 20s. I'm so much more comfortable in my skin now with my stretchmarks, belly-fat and all else.
The women in metal have added a lot to the genre. Incredible performances and a whole new dimension.
Congratulation for Simone for excellent album. All the best for both of you in international women's day.
@SteveNL I wrote excellent and it is🤘
My two favorite ladies in metal! OMEGA is such a wonderful album!
A masterpiece 😎🤘🏻
Omega is nice, but... can't beat their magnum opus "Design Your Universe" or "The Phantom Agony" :P
@@cancelled_user that's a matter of taste. Some like the Epica from these times more then from the old times and some just the opposite :-) My top five albums are: 1. TQE (incl. b sides) 2. Omega 3.

Simone You are really beautiful too and you always will be as well, You two are my favorite females of Metal no lie !!!!!
Hey Floor as a Dutch male nurse thank you!! Im glad it isnt that big off a problem here.
And thank you for helping other people every day. You deserve equal appriciaton for your work.
It took me 40 years to find out I was into female-fronted symphonic rock. Which wouldn't exist without ladies like these two. Thank you both.
First time listening to a woman in heavy metall Was in my childhood. DORO with all we are. Still listening to her after 30 years.
I support this statement totally 🤘👍

Two strong, exceptional women! You are much admired!

Simone and Floor legendary metal singers
Not all men are like that. Don't put all men in a negative blaming frame.

You are both great role models for girls to imitate and boys to learn to respect. Thank you

I just love these talks, it's like we get to hang out with you guys for 25 minutes and be part of a deep conversation with old friends.
Breathtaking artistery and womenhood eminates from your wonderful eternal souls and your out of this world voices and artistery. Godesses muses trancendental spirits both of you.
Thank you for this. 💕 I’m almost 40 year old woman, who might start to embrace her grey hairs.
Edit. Have to add... thank you Floor for being such a ray of sunshine. I think you know that we finns don’t see sun so often, so you have been a real light in the dark mids this pandemic with your voice and charisma. Can’t wait for the NW gig.
Listening to Floor talking as a mother other than a metal Front-woman is such an experience, love it!
