  • Today's podcast is all about the voice. I'm in a privileged position to be able to chat to renowned opera singer and vocal coach Elizabeth Zharoff aka @TheCharismaticVoice. Elizabeth has multiple degrees in music and voice from Oberlin Conservatory, Berklee College of Music and the Curtis Institute of Music.
Elizabeth started The Charismatic Voice RUclips Channel seven years ago in an effort to focus on education and teaching voice to the masses. She is incredibly knowledgable about how the voice works and I really enjoyed talking to her, I learned a lot. I think you’ll find this episode really
fascinating whether or not you’re a vocalist or not. What makes a great voice? Let's find out.
Check out Elizabeth's RUclips Channel here: / @thecharismaticvoice

Fascinating, and isn't she a wonderful, lovely, clever lady. This is an amazing interview. More of a proper 2 way conversation than an interview. The way you two clicked and talked so naturally with such honesty - so interesting and what good watching for me as a total non singer. Justin I'm glad you took that time out to recover - the world is clearly a better place with you in it

This was a great meeting of two amazing talents. I knew you two would end up here after Elizabeth did her reaction of Justin singing with The Darkness. Her journey into rock and metal vocals I knew she would find The Darkness eventually. I have been a fan of Elizabeth for about three years now and have been a Darkness fan since day one and was elated when Justin started his RUclips channel. As a 45 year vet as a rock guitarist and sometime lead vocalist and full time harmony vocalist this was just amazing to watch. Justin, do you remember when The Darkness had a guitar solo contest to one of your songs about 10 years ago? I entered along with a friend who is a great guitarist, we both did instructional videos for a free lesson website. I came in 51st and he came in 54th I believe out of 600 or so entries. I didn’t expect to win but it was fun. I entered another similar contest to win a recording session in England with Bernie Marsden. To my surprise I won that contest out 4500 entries in 2015. The Les Paul in my profile pic is Bernie’s’59 “The Beast”. My first commercial airline flight was from the states to England. My wife and had a great time with Bernie and his wife Fran. Memories of a lifetime.

People don't realize how hard it is to feel normal again after quitting drugs. It takes weeks/months just for your body to start feeling better and I think a lot longer for your mind. You have to retrain yourself how to talk to people without drugs and alcohol as a crutch. It's a lot of work, but it's worth it and you definitely have to want it. Justin Hawkins should be a huge inspiration for anyone, whether they like his music or not. Love this channel ♥️

To really enjoy tea, I use loose tea with my whistle kettle on my stove, pre heating the pot and a particular brewing process. It's much like listening to vinyl versus cd (not going to mention the vile Spotify: that's like tea in a polystyrene cup at a day out in Lowestoft). It's more of a mediation process that enhances the cuppa (or vinyl)...hope that makes sense 😀
