I’ve been thinking the same for the past 20 minutes! It would be awesome if this became something they did from time to time, or even better, a joint podcast
Elizabeth has one of, if not THE most positive internet experiences available. Her channel is a joy to watch and is full of kindness, positivity, and love. Her viewers are the same. The world needs more of people like her!!! Great guest Justin!
I can't believe I watched two people talking about voice maintenance, vocal technics and their love for music in general for over two hours. In a foreign language.... and I can't even sing. You two are so delightful and Elizabeth is a real gem on RUclips.
I could listen to Justin and Elizabeth on a weekly podcast together, talking about anything and everything, forever. Just two wonderfully charismatic and fabulous humans! Amazing video!
This is the coolest interview I've ever seen. The way they just vibe off each other is so awesome. Makes it feel more like two people becoming best friends than an interview

She hangs on every word he says becuz how absorbed and intrigued she is with vocality. It's enormously cute and endearing, as well as bright and intelligent.
In a world where the word "expert" is used so much It means nothing anymore, I can still spot a true expert. She's so passionate about it too. That's why her channel is so entertaining. That was a great podcast. They only problem is that it was too short, lol.
I'm not a singer so the idea that you can consciously control your vocal cords and sing in different spaces completely blew my mind. I found myself trying some of the techniques, managed to scare my cats! Thanks so much Justin and Elizabeth thoroughly fascinating & charismatic people and voices ❤
You do that when you're tired, drunk, depressed... They explain it beautifully since they are both bonkers musicians but if you sing, and you have the show must go on mentality, you end up doing stuff like that...
I really love the chemistry and dynamic between these two!! They have such a rebel older brother/type A younger sister vibe and it’s really sweet, cause you don’t often find that outside of actual family, and it’s really comforting somehow.
So...here I am thinking, "2 hours, meh, I'll skip around" ... and then...this is such a great duo; what a great discussion. Such an earnest back and forth. It's so nice to be included in a conversation between two people that share not only a mutual respect of one another, but a huge love of music. Beautiful. Thank you.
I am a tech/science nerd and love this type of conversations. It is so wonderful to see how two professionals are able to connect and really, in such a short time, honestly discuss the the range of topics they do. It's like they are very old friends. Beautiful. And when Elizabeth says at 1:59:02, that a voice should shake your bones, I love it. That is what music and song is for me. When you feel it reach through you like an invisible hand that grabs your spinal chord and shakes you. That is just powerful, sublime, and beyond...

Justin going deep into his struggles was a really good watch, he is just brilliant and she has so much interest and passion that is infectious. Very good stuff this👍
...just spent 2 hours listening to Dimash ... he's amazing. Thanks for opening my mind to that dude, he's incredible. My heavy metal sensibility probably would not have found him otherwise.
I’m an old school metalhead and discovering Dimash at the beginning of the pandemic has been a mind blowing journey that never gets old. Enjoy! A Dear (that’s what Dimash calls his fans) from 🇨🇦
👋Hello! When you have a minute could you please provide the link to the RUclips vid where Justin reacts to Dimash for the first time? 🥰I’ve tried looking for it, but perhaps the title does not include Dimash’s name.
Have you given Russian singer Diana Ankudinova a listen? Rechenka, Wicked Game, Can’t help falling in love, all amazing and yes it really is her voice. Elizabeth has reacted to her several times.
Elizabeth is an absolute angel. How many opera singers are there who can be excited to be at a metal festival? Her appreciation for “the other” is wonderful. She’s introduced me to a lot of music that was new to me.
In 2012, Heart performed to honor Led Zeppelin . The original Stairway To Heaven was arranged for added orchestra and choir. Yo Yo Ma, the cellist, was seen loving the loud, melodic guitar run. Musicians like these really like music... solidly so.
One more thing...I would like to thank Justin very much for sharing his recovery story. It made me feel so sad to know that he had to endure such sadness through the very long, sad time. Hugs, Hugs and more Hugs to you Justin.🤗 It makes me feel happy that he made it through to the other side. Bless your heart Justin. I believe he deserves his every bit of happiness. It’s always so refreshing to see Justin’s contagiously sweet, genuine and kind smile. Thanks for always sharing that as well.🥰💞💖
You know what I found really made this work? She didn’t expect to be interviewed, she wanted to have a conversation! And flowed really naturally even with the odd bit of silence you could tell she was putting thought into what was just said or it triggered another idea. Fantastic, Mr. Hawkins. 🤘
My brother I totally feel you with the sadness of recovery. I've been sober for close to 6 years now and I still feel that sadness and longing at times. It's like you live in this neverneverland of infinite possibility and then one day it bites you and turns into a nightmare (not unlike some relationships). And even though you know it had to end you always look back to the good times. We can be such complex creatures.
I hope you find joy and happiness in life again. I think it takes a while for the brain chemistry to readjust after addiction; depression is common. I hope you have ongoing support. It might not feel like it, but you're doing a great job.
Enjoyed this so much! Her video is actually how I found your RUclips channel. I've always loved "I Believe In a Thing Called Love", and once that video was posted, I began watching your videos (love them by the way) and went back through all of The Darkness' songs and found a love for the music I didn't know existed. I live in the states and haven't been exposed to anymore songs from The Darkness since that song. But now, my eyes and ears have been opened, and I love it. I'm a singer (not professionally) and really enjoyed hearing this side of the music even though I do love the guitar explaining side of your videos as well. Anyway, love from The States. Cheers!😊
@ Lucinda - Please check out the track "Barbarian" from the Darkness & their "Last of our Kind" album It's a tale about the (factual) East Coast of England during the Viking times & Viking invasion GREAT track (the album's outstanding too)
People don't realize how hard it is to feel normal again after quitting drugs. It takes weeks/months just for your body to start feeling better and I think a lot longer for your mind. You have to retrain yourself how to talk to people without drugs and alcohol as a crutch. It's a lot of work, but it's worth it and you definitely have to want it. Justin Hawkins should be a huge inspiration for anyone, whether they like his music or not. Love this channel ♥️
It's content like this that I never knew that I wanted in my life, but now having found it can't imagine how I was ever happy without it. You are both so clearly enjoying each others insights and opinions it is heartwarming. Both of you opening up your vocal folds and your hearts for us all to be warmed by. I also find a burning desire to see if Simanon can elicit that tear from his father...
This is one of the most beautiful podcasts on music I’ve experienced, thank you Justin & Elizabeth. Two wonderful human beings discussing their passions, flippin awesome.
Nice! I was already wondering when and if this interview would drop. Thanks to the both of you for creating great content! And Justin, please do some more interviews/ talks/ chats with people. Your politeness, positivity and knowledge is a real asset in those conversations :)
What an interesting and entertaining conversation! I was very pleased to learn you both rate Dimash Qudaibergen so highly; to my ears, he’s the best singer I’ve ever heard ...
Two professionals on top of their game having a relaxed conversation and lots of fun besides. Brilliant!! Favourite line: You have to put the same dedication into the nap.🤣 Thanks a lot for two very entertaining hours! [Edit: Typo removed]
I have listened to each of them our their own podcasts and when Elizabeth analyzed Justin, I thought how nice it would be if they had a mutual broadcast and now it's come to pass, This 74 year old weekend hippie/punk ate it up. Such sweet chemistry.
I think I have a tiny crush on Elizabeth. She's just so enthusiastic and passionate. It's hard not to love her. Her reaction to the space Kraken in her reaction video was just too adorable
I heard “Thing Called Love” on the radio once. ONCE. I described it to friends and they thought I was crazy. It took FIFTEEN YEARS to find the song and the band, so I could finally show people. And they still think I’m crazy. Thank you for the music!
You and Elizabeth are my favorite “music reaction” type channels on RUclips. So glad this collaboration happened, I know I’m not alone when I say I wanted this to happen so badly! Y’all are the best! ❤
Fascinating, and isn't she a wonderful, lovely, clever lady. This is an amazing interview. More of a proper 2 way conversation than an interview. The way you two clicked and talked so naturally with such honesty - so interesting and what good watching for me as a total non singer. Justin I'm glad you took that time out to recover - the world is clearly a better place with you in it
40:07 Fun fact: Cashews grow in a shell that protrudes out of the cashew apple. Between the shell and the cashew is a toxin called urushiol, which is the same same toxin in poison ivy. Enjoying listening to your chat so far!
This was cracking! Just a joy to watch , didn’t feel like over 2 hours! So interesting. The biggest thing that struck me was the total respect each had for the other. I just love how Justin was making her giggle as well. You two really should do something regularly. Both simply get it.
Honestly, her channel is one of the best. She interviewed Lzzy Hale from Halestorm and it's one of the most fun, informative chats I've ever seen with a musician.
When I hit play I thought, "Wow this will be a long video to watch"... when it was over I was like, "What? It's over already? I want more, that was great!" Loved the chemistry! Both of you are amazing conversationalists!
That was absolutely fascinating! I checked out Dimash Q. since I had never heard of him and wow, he was fantastic! Great content here. Loved it, thanks!
Thank you so much, Justin and Elizabeth! This chat has been so entertaining and educating. Jus, I really appreciate how honest and clear you are when talking about your addiction, the decisions you made and how hard it was. Elizabeth, thanks to you I finally found "my voice". Your explanations are so pedagogic and easy to visualise, you helped me made the "click" I needed (I'm forever grateful for generously sharing all the knowledge you have, though I think my neighbours are not as happy as I am). Much love and fortune to both of you ❤ 🔥
This interview was absolutely amazing from start to finish. Was completely fascinated with both of you and each subject discussed. I learned about Justin from being a dedicated viewer of Elizabeth's channel. Thanks, guys, for getting together and educating us all. Please do a project together in the future.
Long time for me too, Justin. It is great that you hit the breaking point long before many people do. I hit mine when I was 27. Funny early recovery I went to a meeting and heard a woman say she was 9 years sober and was just starting to face reality. It took me a long time too. You are helping others so much by being an example. Love this interview. It is now my 4th watch.
It amazes me how much chemistry there seems to be between JH & EZ. For two people who do not really know each other - they seem so comfortable just chatting away. They come across as old friends.
They really don't. She's enthusiastic about her subject but she is anxious throughout and is immensely uncomfortable. Body language does not lie. Justin is comfortable. There is a difference.
@@hellfirepictures No she doesn’t, you fool. Get off the internet with your pseudo scientific drivel. You are so way of the mark your comment is embarrassing.
OMG OMG OMG! Over 2 hours of joy! I have been waiting for these two to team up forever and it has finally happened! Two of the best singers and absolutely the *best* singer/song analysts on RUclips; charming, insightful and just plain fun watch their genuine responses to the amazing singers and groups that they review. Thank you for sharing this wonderful time with us!
I watched it twice, amazed by the convergent pathways of Justin and Elizabeth who in their expertises are both near the edge of what a voice CAN do, like F1 drivers as opposed to Toyotas.
This is the second (?) time that I've seen Elizabeth featured on someone else's channel. That is in itself, a great testament to who she is. I have been subscribed (now a patron) for what? 3 yrs. now? Doesn't matter. Those who've not before seen her, this IS The Charismatic Voice. Nothing phony here. And I'll say the same for Justin. They made for a pleasurable conversation in which we were invited to listen in on. Great video!
That feeling when you're having a great time listening to these two chat, then you worry that it's approaching the end... And you realize there's still like two hours left 🤩
Eliz…This kind of crossover channel should take into account SO much more the norm…There are very good reasons why rational humans LOVE you…And we will continue to do so, going forward…Much love 🤗
Liz is making the world a better place. My singing had improved since learning to think of things such as placement etc.. which I hardly thought of before. I only aped what the singers did, but that doesn't help when you have to make it your own because of the range.
Heard this episode on Spotify and had to come back for the visuals. This was such enjoyable and engrossing episode that I managed to burn family dinner - kids were not impressed! I'm glad that there's hoping nearly any voice can be trained as my singing is pretty awful. Once my dad told me after a minute of my delightful singing when I was a teenager - "Sweetie, you sing beautifully but too long!" and he's really tolerant guy overall... Thanks guys for the amazing episode!
Absolutely loved this. One of my favorite sections was Justin playing with his voice to produce the different sounds as the character who might study opera. So many people forget how to play with their voices. it showed lots of freedom and fearlessness.
i’ve been waiting for this since E’s reaction to i believe in a thing called love. She became one of my absolute favorite youtubers early in the pandemic (i’m a nurse who got sick at the beginning and spent a long-ass time in bed) and i’m loving how much she has blown up. her content is fascinating, as are the relationships she has formed with musicians all over the spectrum. Justin i have loved since i heard the darkness way back when. only found him on youtube about a year ago though 😬 anyway… this is the fun, intelligent, lovely, wholesome content i live for 💜 i’d love to see the two of you appear as special guests for each others reactions once in a while…
Dear Elizabeth, but you're so charismatic! Thats why I and so many people have assumed that you named your channel that way. Watching you listen to music is so freaking exciting because your entire being seems to be consumed by it and that dimension, is you incarnate. Your unique character is so engaging - hence millions of subs!
quite interesting to see two musician /vocalists and music lovers from different ends of the spectrum compare notes and explain the risks and damage singers have to go through to deliver a performance ... would love to see a crossover where justin sings one of elizabeths opera songs in that style and elizabeth sings one of justins songs in a rock voice .... just for science reasons lol ..
I loved the absolute confidence with which Justin told Elizabeth that she will meet Mariah. It felt like a certainty in my own body when he said it. They’re both so gracious and generous with one another and what fun to see two music/vocal geeks exploring ideas and sharing experiences. Such a lovely conversation. The glimmers of the depth of the knowledge both have cultivated over the course of their careers felt like a MasterClass. Fantastic. Thank you so much for this. ❤
So much knowledge and experience in one single episode ❤❤. The explanation on how to use vibrato (or not) bloody brilliant. Operatic vocals and ability aside I absolutely love The charismatic voice and the way she explains things, at the same time the fact you were both writing notes, kudos to you, there is always something to learn, the day you stop learning is the day you give up a passion. It's taken me a while to get through this one with a 22 year old wanting to ask questions, a 16 year old banging out guitar in the background, a 3 year old generally wanting my attention and all of the above being forever hungry. But I can say without any hesitation, I learnt a mass of information from this that is 100% usable and helpful... more knowledge please, keep it coming. Fantastic as always xxx

Nice! I was already wondering when and if this interview would drop. Thanks to the both of you for creating great content! And Justin, please do some more interviews/ talks/ chats with people. Your politeness, positivity and knowledge is a real asset in those conversations :)
I always enjoy when Justin tells anecdotes about his longtime friend, Jason Hawkwinds. It's a wonderful insight into his friends life.
What an interesting and entertaining conversation!
I was very pleased to learn you both rate Dimash Qudaibergen so highly; to my ears, he’s the best singer I’ve ever heard ...
Two professionals on top of their game having a relaxed conversation and lots of fun besides. Brilliant!!
Favourite line: You have to put the same dedication into the nap.🤣
Thanks a lot for two very entertaining hours!
Justin I'm glad you took that time out to recover - the world is clearly a better place with you in it
Just want to add - you're both brilliant to watch, your expressions!
40:07 Fun fact: Cashews grow in a shell that protrudes out of the cashew apple. Between the shell and the cashew is a toxin called urushiol, which is the same same toxin in poison ivy.
Enjoying listening to your chat so far!
Cashews are freaky little bastards.
Yes, but how do you milk a cashew?
@@staceyfunk9689You'd probably start by buying it a drink.
Thanks for this very informing and interesting conversation! One learns so much from you. And thanks for including Dimash Qudaibergen 🥰
I absolutely love this crossover!
Isn't Elizabeth AMAZING! so expressive and open! ..check out her opera-singing performances....she's freaking MIND-blowing!
That was absolutely fascinating! I checked out Dimash Q. since I had never heard of him and wow, he was fantastic! Great content here. Loved it, thanks!
Absolutely fascinating in every way possible. Too much of Justin and Elizabeth is just not enough.
Thank you.
Love and respect from Australia.
I honestly love both of you. You both have this positive, warm energy that is infectious. I was excited to see a video of you two together!
She looks so happy just talking to Justin. Imagine if she actually met him, she'd absolutely freak out! :)
Justin is secretly excited. He just hides it well.
@@Michael-mm3fm he uses his desk
are they kind of geekin on each other ? trying not to look like it tho ? hmmmm
She's a charismatic voice, she is.
@@kentl7228lol. I'm pretty sure if they were really together, stuff would have happened 😂 Justin is charming the sh*t out of her without even trying
2 beautiful humans, thank you.
I would absolutely watch it, if you two made more videos like this
The Case of Cimmanin Graingehill! You guys are the best! Thanks for this conversation!
Amazing. This was a master class. Watching these two professional singers trying different vocal techniques was incredible.
Great to listen to you both the extremes inner outer. Justin did great with Wolf Van Halen. I wish Wolf would do harder rock style though.
💯
I watched it twice, amazed by the convergent pathways of Justin and Elizabeth who in their expertises are both near the edge of what a voice CAN do, like F1 drivers as opposed to Toyotas.
What a great interview! 2 hours that flew by. What a pair of nice, humble people, talking about something they love.
I have liked Justin and Elizabeth for ages, and seeing them together is scrambling my brain, but is brilliant
Love it when people love their craft Peace and love to you both
That feeling when you're having a great time listening to these two chat, then you worry that it's approaching the end... And you realize there's still like two hours left 🤩
😂
Vocal nerdiness to the max and I’m here for it!
Eliz…This kind of crossover channel should take into account SO much more the norm…There are very good reasons why rational humans LOVE you…And we will continue to do so, going forward…Much love 🤗
Yes! I was hoping for this conversation to happen!❤
What an absolutely lovely interview. Elizabeth is extremely technical - as can Justin be, when he wants. Regardless of what he puts on :P
This podcast makes me smile. thank you, Justin and Elizabeth!!!
Oh my days….. thank you for Dimash….. my mind is blown
I knew this was going to happen! It's so cool to see these 2 discussing voice together.
holy crap, I COMPLETELY agree with that list of singers, including Jacob Collier. The entire interview is amazing!
Finally!!!!? Can't thank you enough guys. Love you both. Cheers from India. ❤🤘🏽
These two have THE best chemistry, I could listen to them all day
Liz is making the world a better place. My singing had improved since learning to think of things such as placement etc.. which I hardly thought of before. I only aped what the singers did, but that doesn't help when you have to make it your own because of the range.
Justin keeps having the cutest guests. And the response video to her response video is really cute. Two great human beings, thank you.
😂 easy to burn dinner listening to these 2! I sympathize!
I know nothing about music, and less about voice, but Elizabeth is so much fun to watch. She has so much enthusiasm and her reactions are just joyful.
I have enjoyed following Justin's channel. He is knowledgeable and a true musician! Looking forward to seeing the Darkness!
Absolutely loved this.
One of my favorite sections was Justin playing with his voice to produce the different sounds as the character who might study opera. So many people forget how to play with their voices. it showed lots of freedom and fearlessness.
Two of my most favourite RUclipsrs together.
Been looking forward to this one.
I’d better stop writing & enjoy the video.
Aha, these two are just brilliant. What a joy, to hear these experts in their flow!
i’ve been waiting for this since E’s reaction to i believe in a thing called love. She became one of my absolute favorite youtubers early in the pandemic (i’m a nurse who got sick at the beginning and spent a long-ass time in bed) and i’m loving how much she has blown up. her content is fascinating, as are the relationships she has formed with musicians all over the spectrum. Justin i have loved since i heard the darkness way back when. only found him on youtube about a year ago though 😬 anyway… this is the fun, intelligent, lovely, wholesome content i live for 💜 i’d love to see the two of you appear as special guests for each others reactions once in a while…
Seeing her joy at nerding out is amazing.
3 minutes in and I am just 🥹 this is too wholesome and beautiful to comprehend.
This is cool, been fan of her for a while now
Tremendous discussion! You two and Beato have classed up and enhanced RUclips tenfold. I can’t wait to hear more.
