I'm with you, I was vaguely aware of the existence of symphonic metal but had never heard of Floor Jansen or Nightwish until Elizabeth's reaction to Ghost Love Score randomly popped up on my youtube feed. I don't even know what prompted the algorithm to suggest it but I'm so glad it did because to say I was blown away by Floor's voice would be would be a gross understatement.

in some ways this is confusing... Floor is to me some Goddess-level persona... she can have 80 thousands people in the palm of her hand and STILL she's a simple woman, battling with diseases, worrying about her daughters and struggling with life-work balance with her husband. Floor may well be one of the best singer ever to be born but you are an accomplished musical prodigy yourself! 😍
For me it’s simple. She is our Valkyrie Goddess on stage with Nightwish. She can be that in her solo performances. Offstage she is a very human sensitive woman with a family both human and animal which keeps her grounded. All the work offstage creates what we see onstage performances including albums & music videos.
I absolutely get what you're saying. But as a serious reply, I think the main takeaway from this observation should be, "I wonder if every God-tier person I've ever admired is also a simple person, dealing with normal, every day crap, trying to make sense of life, too?" I don't have a definitive answer to that question, but I suspect that other than actual narcissists and psycho/socio-paths, the answer is "Yes".

Very nice of Floor to acknowledge the importance of Anneke van Giersbergen's debut with The Gathering (she was already their third vocalist, they had been through a bunch of guys). After she became the leadsinger on the Mandylion album everything changed and female vocalists became more and more prevalent in metal. Anneke's influence can never be overstated enough.

Mandylion, still my fav female-fronted metal album. The Doomy Sabbath riffs with the cool, atmospheric keys, plus the soaring, hypnotizing vocals. Such a unique sound even to this day. All those imitators never recreated that masterpiece IMO.

Wow, so amazing. I think Floor gave us lots of energy and inspiration for whatever we do in our lifes. I rarely cry, but Floor makes me cry. Even during this video i wiped tears maybe 5 times.

I first heard Floor in After Forever around 2007, always loved her voice, no one better in my opinion. Nightwish has been my fav band since I first heard their album Once in 2004. Her becoming the a part of Nightwish was a dream come true.
YES!!!!! After 4 years of waiting, it finally happened! I'm not at all surprised Floor is like this. I'm a New Yorker who works for an American company that's a subsidiary of a Dutch conglomerate. My best friend at the office is a Dutch girl who moved here at the beginning of 2023, and she has one of those beautiful personalities where it's impossible to think negatively of her. I've also spoken with multiple employees at the parent company's headquarters in the Netherlands, and they're equally just as nice.
Great interview. Floor is absolutely from a different planet. I still remember how she managed to learn all songs for the first concert with Nightwish within 48 hours. And totally killed it!

I’m not all the way through this but really really enjoying it so far! First of all seeing you beam ear to ear the entire time alone makes this great- but having this be a conversation and not so much an interview was perfect. And hearing Floor drop that F bomb made my day lol. One of the greatest singers ever is just like the rest of us haha! Floor has always come across as very genuine and very real and has the perfect balance of confidence with humility. I’ve seen nothing to change that opinion!
I've always found Floor as a constant on-going machine never taking take of herself. This interview sorta reflects that and gives me some sort of insight into why, and also on what she does these days to take care of herself. She's a treasure to the world, and it is important to take care of oneself.

When she started talking about how the song triggered that memory of her being sick, it hit me. I went through something I never thought I would get through which is losing my pregnancy and when I heard How’s the Heart again after a while, the first line “You see a mother with no child” it made me sob like proper cry my eyes out. But it helped me release that sadness I had, the loss, the anger. So yeah it does happen and l will never not associate this song to the feeling of pain I was feeling in the process I went through but is also good to know it helped me to get some peace. I have been waiting for this at least 3 years. Finally Floor and Elizabeth. I am sure this going to be awesome and I think it is the result of the outstanding work the channel has done.
I admit, a little disappointed I didn't hear the question Elizabeth said she wanted to ask Floor if she ever got to have tea with her: "Is head banging good for the vocal chords? Does that tighten them or loosen them up?" But to be fair, I do think that was a thought from years ago, so no surprise it got missed. I have to say I love how Floor emphasizes the power of the mind and positivity in health. I have no doubt that so many minor health issues can be made worse just by the negativity and fear of getting sick. It is wonderful to hear such a positive mindset, and how it has helped her through so much.
It's heartening to see that with all the randomness in this world, somehow that voice was created in a wonderfully rational, intelligent, and humble person. I loved her voice from the first time I heard it, and now I love her as a person.

Very nice of Floor to acknowledge the importance of Anneke van Giersbergen's debut with The Gathering (she was already their third vocalist, they had been through a bunch of guys). After she became the leadsinger on the Mandylion album everything changed and female vocalists became more and more prevalent in metal. Anneke's influence can never be overstated enough.

Mandylion, still my fav female-fronted metal album. The Doomy Sabbath riffs with the cool, atmospheric keys, plus the soaring, hypnotizing vocals. Such a unique sound even to this day. All those imitators never recreated that masterpiece IMO.

Wow, so amazing. I think Floor gave us lots of energy and inspiration for whatever we do in our lifes. I rarely cry, but Floor makes me cry. Even during this video i wiped tears maybe 5 times.

I first heard Floor in After Forever around 2007, always loved her voice, no one better in my opinion. Nightwish has been my fav band since I first heard their album Once in 2004. Her becoming the a part of Nightwish was a dream come true.

I'm not at all surprised Floor is like this. I'm a New Yorker who works for an American company that's a subsidiary of a Dutch conglomerate. My best friend at the office is a Dutch girl who moved here at the beginning of 2023, and she has one of those beautiful personalities where it's impossible to think negatively of her. I've also spoken with multiple employees at the parent company's headquarters in the Netherlands, and they're equally just as nice.
Great interview. Floor is absolutely from a different planet. I still remember how she managed to learn all songs for the first concert with Nightwish within 48 hours. And totally killed it!

I’m not all the way through this but really really enjoying it so far! First of all seeing you beam ear to ear the entire time alone makes this great- but having this be a conversation and not so much an interview was perfect. And hearing Floor drop that F bomb made my day lol. One of the greatest singers ever is just like the rest of us haha! Floor has always come across as very genuine and very real and has the perfect balance of confidence with humility. I’ve seen nothing to change that opinion!

I've always found Floor as a constant on-going machine never taking take of herself. This interview sorta reflects that and gives me some sort of insight into why, and also on what she does these days to take care of herself. She's a treasure to the world, and it is important to take care of oneself.

I’ve been a huge Floor Jansen fan since I first heard her version of “Ghost Love Score,” but I’ve never heard her outside of her music. This interview was amazing-thank you so much! She seems like the most humble, down-to-earth celebrity I’ve ever heard talk. You both seemed so comfortable in this interview; it was amazing. Once it got going, it felt like a conversation between two lifelong friends.

I still have to listen to it because my dad just got it today and I wanted my first listen to be with the physical copy, I did sew on the patch the album came with today. It is a beautiful patch that works very well with the red thread I use for my battle jacket.

When she started talking about how the song triggered that memory of her being sick, it hit me. I went through something I never thought I would get through which is losing my pregnancy and when I heard How’s the Heart again after a while, the first line “You see a mother with no child” it made me sob like proper cry my eyes out. But it helped me release that sadness I had, the loss, the anger. So yeah it does happen and l will never not associate this song to the feeling of pain I was feeling in the process I went through but is also good to know it helped me to get some peace. Thank you for this Elizabeth! And thank you Floor ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Floor is amazing and it is so great to see and hear Elizabeth interview her... Sometimes I wonder if Floor really knows how special it is what she is doing. I mean it shows on the faces of the people visiting the concerts. But also being a mom, dealing with a horrible illness and staying a nice human being without any ego the typical star 'features'. Stay healthy please Floor, take care of yourself and enjoy family life as well..

I admit, a little disappointed I didn't hear the question Elizabeth said she wanted to ask Floor if she ever got to have tea with her: "Is head banging good for the vocal chords? Does that tighten them or loosen them up?" But to be fair, I do think that was a thought from years ago, so no surprise it got missed.
I have to say I love how Floor emphasizes the power of the mind and positivity in health. I have no doubt that so many minor health issues can be made worse just by the negativity and fear of getting sick. It is wonderful to hear such a positive mindset, and how it has helped her through so much.
It's heartening to see that with all the randomness in this world, somehow that voice was created in a wonderfully rational, intelligent, and humble person. I loved her voice from the first time I heard it, and now I love her as a person.
