It's unfair how naturally crimpy your brother's... I mean your hair is. 😆Seriously man, your vocals are wildly fantastic. I especially love how you described the feeling of adding grit/distortion in a healthy way. I'd be quite keen to hear more on how you think about your voice and producing such exquisite sounds. @@JayPhonomancer yes she's got a couple of covers she has on her own channel however there are some, imo, better videos if you search for "elizabeth zharoff singing" from operas she's done or there's one of her with a guitarist which should be a top result that's fantastic

I just jump in to say that Andy guitar is one of my absolute favourite channels for guitar tutorials. I bet i am not the only one who thinks that! Man you have no idea how many songs i learned how to play thanks to you!
@@JackXombi I don't think I ever really spent much time with him but I did meet him a few times because I open for them in the way back here in Lawrence Kansas. Both at The Crossing and also out at the The Outhouse.
The Charismatic Voice has probably done more for me in understanding and appreciating the vocal talents and abilities of vocalists than any music theory class has ever done. Every video she does is a lesson in vocal theory and I am no way a vocalist but she has been the cause and solution to many 1am RUclips rabbit holes of exploration. She is so positive and even when she is critiquing she still finds the best part of the mistake if that makes sense and elaborates on it and I just know vocalists are watching her content and taking notes.

But also, yes she is a much better reactor than all those people who just play the song and bob their heads along, and finish the video by saying "yeah that was alright, see you next time". She makes a tone deaf person like me appreciate the craftsmanship in songs so much more. Whoever knew dio, meatloaf and a few others were so uniquely talented? She made me able to distinguish when i enjoy a song because it's fun and poppy from when the singer and band are actually really talented
Her channel is how how reaction channels should be.

My only criticism of her reactions is that she stops the playback constantly, and it is hard to get a feeling of flow.
@@DropAnchor1978 Yeah, I get that but I just listen to or watch the video she is referencing first then watch her reaction unless its something I am really familiar with already.
The Charismatic Voice was the first youtube channel to demonstrate to me that reaction channels can be good. Since then I have found a handful of other subject matter experts doing reactions that are informative. The value for somebody like me is finding the vocabulary to describe the things that attracted me to some of these artists in the first place and really understand why their art works.
TCV and Julia Nilon's channel are the two best for me, their vibe is similar and they're good friends too :)

I’m into the “composer reacts” videos especially, for the same reason.
First time I saw the channel name I was like "calling yourself Charismatic is a bit pretentious", but, well, she is, charismatic, fun and knows her shit. She has every right to be has many subs and views as she does.
You might like Virgin Rock’s channel. A classically trained harpist reacts to and applies her music education to rock music-She was now is not a virgin to the genre.
Watching her eargasms to music is amazing. She analyzes and breaks it down like no other.
I've never been sure how to describe her giddiness when she hears new music. 'Eargasm' is a perfect description, and it's really fun to watch.
I'm pretty sure that's not the only kind of gasm she had
I started watching her videos today and I'm hooked. She _has_ a charismatic voice, the look of delight she has is a joy, really brightened my day.
Charismatic Voice is one of the only non-history reaction/analysis channels I watch. She's good, and she's a hell of an opera singer as well. Plus she's a fellow D&D player, so she gets an auto-win for that.
It also helps that she had never heard like any rock songs ever so she has a fresh perspective!
she's awesome. her reactions and analysis of groups like Pantera are magic!
She is an absolute delight.
She's irritating and seems to enjoy gurning and pausing videos every 10 seconds and talking all over them.
The Fairy Voice Mother is also great, she so effortlessly recreates vocals from literally any genre

I must admit I check the Charismatic Voice out quite often. It's fun to watch Elizabeth discovering new music, she's fairly new to the Rock Metal scene and her patreons recommend new music to her. She is actually a world renowned Opera Singer and has an incredible voice too, she also attended Bloodstock a couple of years ago and loved it. She's really open to all genres of rock.....it's cool to watch her expression as she discovers new stuff.

She's done a cover of Erasure's - Always and made a video to go with it where she's wearing a Unicorn onesie in reference to the old mobile game Robot Unicorn Attack that used a version of the song as its main theme and level song. It's worth a watch..you can tell she had a blast making it

I watch THe Charismatic Voice channel from time to time... the host is very fun and cute in her discovering all this new music to her because she mainly just sang and listened to Opera music.. her mind has been expanded to enjoy Metal music, and it is always so wonderful her genuine innocent reactions to such things

Ah the humour is alive and well here, that said Elizabeth is an awesome woman, insanely talented to boot. Her reaction videos are the stuff of legend as she really gets into it, you can see it in her body language and facial expressions, just a sweet human being she is.
I've seen a lot of her videos and recently discovered she's a professional opera singer with an insanely powerful voice. Suddenly all those reactions holds more weight.

It is refreshing to see two people building each other up on these two channels. I know it's cliché, but there is way too much of the other thing these days, so this exchange is a bright spot. I have always loved this song; it was perfect for its time.
Her analysis of this song is what guided me to this channel. I had no idea you were on RUclips now. I was in 8th grade when "I Believe in a Thing Called Love" came out and I've loved it since the first day I heard it. So happy I found this channel

This was awesome to see, Justin is hysterical. I still remember blasting this song at top volume on my way home after a double shift at work and realizing that the car next to me was blasting the same song, so we all sang along as we rode down the street in the middle of the night.

Don't let "not being able to read music" stop you. For singers it's just sight-reading. The little dots let you know up or down, the Italian lets you know the "how" (softly, loudly, etc.). Your ears will let you know the cues. One, two times through, you'll get it. If I could pick it up in High School as a metal head, you can get it. It's the singing part that's hard and you're an ace, bud.

Your voice has the best ranges I've ever heard and could rival Freddy Mercury's. I can't carry a tune in a bucket so hearing your vocal capability is literally mind blowing. You deserve so much more notoriety simply based on the level of humanity that you approach music with. The music community needs more of your gift for sure.

If Queen ever decided to do another tour or even just a few shows you'd be the perfect singer for them. Who knows if they ever will but I can't think of any other singers who could do it justice and own it like you could.
I'm not sure whether the entire catalogue works for him but the track Justin did with them at the Taylor Hawkins memorial was fantastic.

Have you checked out Tom Chaplin from Keane singing It's A Hard Life with Queen? Although, not as visually entertaining as Justin Hawkins, he gives a flawless performance.

For the most part, "metal" really isn't my scene - but the "metal" singers that are good are GOOD!
I've been getting into the Japanese metal/hard rockgirl groups a lot more lately - BANDMAID are bliss, Nemophila most excellent, Lovebites is a little too "metal" for more than the oddtrack, Hanabie are fun, and there's so much more. Not sure where The Wagakki Band fit in, but Babtmetal are definitely "Kawaii metal" - Suzuka's voice in outstanding!
There are definitely some stuffy opera and classical musicians who only listen to classical and look down on other styles. But the cool ones just love MUSIC in all its forms. I remember being in college and studying Bach in piano lessons, rehearsing an opera in the evening, and then singing in a rock band on the weekends. And I loved it ALL. 😂

Watching Elizabeth get into rock and metal over the last few years has been amazing. She's done some great interviews with the likes of Tati from Jinjer and has put a camera down the throat of the Lorna Shore guy. Her channel is essential viewing!

Outstanding. I'll have to watch the music video again. When The Darkness blew up in 2003 there were many comments about your voice, your range, your falsetto, comparisons to Freddie, the success of PtL. For the rock fans like me who grew up in the 70/80's, you were all a real breath of fresh air to listen to. Glad that The Charismatic Voice gave you a look-in, and now I'll check out her review too. Good to see that your band is still around 20yrs on. Nice one...
I bought Permission To Land shortly after it was released after reading a Rolling Stone review comparing the band to Queen and Led Zeppelin. After my first listen I was all "Wtf"? I thought the vocals were almost a parody, but after a couple more listens I realized the riffs and songs were really memorable and well-written, and the guitar soloing was great. And to me they sounded more like early Def Leppard (musically) meets The Bee Gees and The Cure (vocally), which is a pretty cool, interesting and unique amalgam. So yeah, it quickly became a current favorite album of mine and when my friend Dan and I would drive to Hollywood on the weekend to hang out and party at the Rainbow, we'd crank it in his car and I'd sing along and he'd crack up because I used to be able to hit pretty much all of Justin's high notes. Get Your Hands Of My Woman was my favorite one to sing, especially when he goes "You cu-hu-hunt!" in that crazy high falsetto 😎
@@dmitryowens yeah, it's a great album but there was a bit of an image problem because; people didn't know how to accept the band. I was living in the UK at the time and immediately there were comparisons to Freddie Mercury. JH did say that The Darkness were going for a sound sort of Queen/ACDC which I think they got, and still have. Love on the Rocks (with no ice) was my favourite. Yeah, great song - I also really dig Love Is Only A Feeling. And to me Justin's voice reminds me more of Robert Smith when he sings in his natural mid-range and Bee Gees and other 70's male disco artists when he sings the high stuff - Freddie sang more in full chest voice and didn't use as much falsetto as Justin does.
Justin, I am a big fan of Elizabeth, who is The Charismatic Voice, and she seemed to have fun time, and she loved the song, and your singing. She does Tea Time interviews with musicians, and we'd love to see you do one with Elizabeth.
