Floor always was a total badass. Now you know why she was on top of both Tuomas and Marko's list as a replacement for Anette. They toured Europe with After Forever, so they knew Floor was capable of singing whatever she wanted.🤘🏽
One of the reason why Floor burned out is that she did everything herself, composing, singing, yes, but also booking the gigs, and much more - a too busy bee. Her first band and music is definitely worth reacting to as well. Fun Fact: Mark Jansen (Epica) was co-member in After Forever, Joost van den Broek, now mister metal in NL and producer of Epica's last albums (3 or 4) was also in After Forever, and now plays with Ayreon also or Floor (grand piano) - Ayreon's Marcela Bolio has started a band with 2 former musicians from ReVamp.
@@adamnichol6761 Joost is the producer for a ton of bands, Blind Guardian, Vanaheim, Blackbriar, Epica, Ayreon, Mayan, Dark horse White Horse and probably more.
First group Floor was After Forever, where she began singing at the age of 16, After Forever was a Dutch symphonic metal band with strong progressive metal influences. The band relied on the use of both soprano vocals and death growls, in the After Forever group, Floor wrote songs, in this group she used her soprano voice a lot, in songs she mixed soprano vocals with Eastern, Arabic singing and other styles. Floor had a second group, ReVamp, this group was created by Floor, Floor wrote songs, she did almost everything to the smallest detail herself in this group, in this ReVamp group, she could go over deep growling to full opera singing.
Hello South Africa, here a message from South Netherlands; nice you did old stuf from Floor. Back in the days she did very nice things p.e. Dreamflight, Monolith of doubt, and another famous one is Energize me. This one you should see three times: 1 the original with After Forever, the second one in classic style with The Red Limo string quartet and the last one from last year from her solo tour in Amsterdam. Three times Bingo in three different motions. Worthwhile, believe me! Regards....Wim
It's from Graspop Festival 2010. I can't find actual playing order but the light suggest it was early in the day, I did find the poster, it says that ReVamp played on Friday - there's at least 6 different font-sizes used for progressively less well-known band and they got the smallest one. So classic mid-day slot, nothing wrong with that - there's several other now big names in that same font-size "class" on the same day (Devin Townsend for example). And she and the other in ReVamp was already well-known enough at the time to pick up a label pretty much directly after being former. And yeah, as others have mentioned Floor started her career with After Forever which TOURED with Nightwish so they were aware of her much earlier than ReVamp. Reputedly the reason why they didn't ask Floor back in 2005 was that she was in After Forever at that time and they felt they couldn't steal AF's singer from them! So they had to find someone else. It's also unclear if Floor would have been interested, presumably she was reasonably happy in AF and she probably also knew Tarja from touring with them so might not have wanted to take over under those circumstances. After AF disbanded in 2009 Floor set up her own band, ReVamp. It was her baby and she was involved in all aspects, so much so that it caused burnout and then band was inactive for a while. She was pretty much over this (they were writing new material) just as Nightwish needed a new singer, the situation was now different and the rest is history. AF is much closer in sound to Nightwish than ReVamp is - I guess she had some things she needed to get out of her system. Fun Fact: Mark Jansen (not related to Floor, it's just a very common Dutch last name) was also in AF early on, he was dismissed or quit (accounts vary) from AF in 2002 due to "musical differences" and then founded... Epica (2002-) and MaYaN (2010-).
I read where she was, indeed, Tuomas's #1 choice to replace Tarja in 2005 but her solitary with After Forever was preventing that - I always thought of the quote from the movie Highlander "There can be only one" - - - - they just had to wait a few more years
Revamp: Misery's no Crime. @ Mezz Breda 17-01-2014,ruclips.net/video/SNPesLFTnUg/видео.html here Floor almost in one breath, goes from full death metal growl to a full operatic voice with high powerful notes, and Floor does it at an incredible high level.
@@clemenstremens1940 I have not heard that anyone could sing, since Floor in that link, Floor makes incredible transitions here, of course Lara will not be able to sing like that))
The expression on your face is cracking me up!! The younger Floor is so aggressive...I love it!! She is so sexy here and her blonde hair is cool!! xoxo Erica , Scottsdale Az
I like Floor in Nightwish but I defintely loved her more in her previous bands, such as After Forever (which I saw at Graspop in the early 2000s) and ReVamp. I loved her more in the past, because, for me, her vocal range was more wide, where in Nightwish she is more in an unique range, kinda opera.
This is a Dutch program with Dutch singers in all different singing one is opera singers one is RUclips etc. The idea is that one singers is sitting in the centre that evening and other singers have to sing something from there reportaire. It's no competition just fun floor jansen is on the 2019 show and you should really chech that out. Also here 2 singles she brought out from here solo album which comes out next year the songs are fire and storm
such a poerful force she was even then her growl sounds better than the male counterpart a 6ft Dutch woman blonde looks good but i like the darker hair long and absolutely beautiful
Some of the members have a new band with Marcela Bovio (Ayreon, MaYaN) on vocals. Really worth checking out: Dark Horse White Horse. Just pick any song of them
Grasspop is a festival so they are not all there to see Floor et al. The fact that they are on in the middle of the afternoon would suggest not. Still great though.
Hello there my friends, great one (always) if you try another revamp song on grass pop be sure to check it out first the mic and sound 💩 back and forth back and forth 🤣 And the guy who makes the corus is MARK JANSEN (EPICA NOW )
When Floor goes, shes going for the 100%. I hate to admit that at the time she started Revamp i wasn't digging it too much. Now i feel sad we didn't get to see where she could've gone with this band hadn't she joined Nightwish, even if I'm also glad she did.
Yes indeed it is. We received quite a few donations for song requests that we are prioritizing first and then we will go down the list of reactions to do...
Great reaction. This is dark, angry Floor. She had a pretty bad, ugly break up with her long term partner who was the lead guitarist in After Forever which probably played a role in that band breaking up as well. It shows up in most of the ReVamp songs as well as in the Northward song While Love Died (worth checking out for hard rock Floor). My favorite ReVamp song is a ballad, Sweet Curse. My favorite thing that Floor sings. Studio version is a duet with Russell Allen from Symphony X. There is a fan made live version from the release party that is pretty good. ruclips.net/video/omyvp94vzdE/видео.html. Best live version is with Henk Poort from her solo concert back in September but I like Russell's voice a little bit more. ruclips.net/video/lU8i2i3v8MQ/видео.html.
And now you know why Anette wasn't happy when Tuomas mentiond they would call Floor to do the Australian part of the tour when Anette was pregnant. She knew she would (probably) get more shite from the NW fans that wanted more metal from the vocalist and possibly lose her job. And she already got a TON of critics via 'social'media. As if it was her fault Tarja was sacked.... 🤷♂️
Floor is not Tatiana, but she used to have a lot more angry energy in her performances. Unfortunately, Revamp did not have the $$$ to do top quality live recordings.
Revamp neve reached much success unfortunately. In this video, they don't have an enormous crowd, it's festival. A couple dozen bands probably and Revamp here is playing during the day. The later a band plays, the more successful they are usually. Their lack of success was a major reason for Floor's burnout during this period. She had some success with After Forever but Revamp not so much and her career just really seemed to be going nowhere at this point in her life. Hard to believe that this incredible vocalist just couldn't catch much of a break for her first 10 years. A small group of dedicated fans of symphonic metal knew her, but no one else really paid any attention. If you compare with Wacken 2013, Nightwish was the last band, the headliner for the day.
The were the first band up at noon, I think second day. This show has the only decent audio of Revamp that I've ever found. Everything else is garbage cel phone crap. it's not perfect either, as she had mic issues through the first 2 or three songs, sound crew was really slow to respond.
Yeah, Revamp, the song Wildcard 😈😈😈

She's great 😁
Floor Unchained, in full-on Crazy-Eyes mode. This is an excellent example of how smooth her transitions are. 🔥🤘💜
Never underestimate the Valkyrie Goddess, she can sing sing like an angel or a demon from the depths of hell in the same verse.
Angry blonde Floor

True! After Forever opened for Nightwish at one point. She was probably on their radar from then on 🔥
At this time, Floor had complete control of the band. Songs, lyrics, everything. She was stretched so thin, it is no wonder she experienced burnout.
