- From a more refined flat design to new AI features to some interesting specs, let's just say that Samsung's approach to its base models might not be that much apart from the Ultra that we discussed in a previous video. The amount of rumors and leaks continues to get intense so it's time for another Deep Dive. I'm Jaime Rivera with Pocketnow and let's talk some more about the new Galaxy S24 series.

Honestly, my S23 Ultra is a bit uncomfortable and heavy, I think I'll be switching the S24+ once it comes out if trade-in values are good.
That's what I did with my brick like s21 ultra and moved to s23. Plus is the best middle point. There's a good 40+ grams of difference between plus and the ultras.
Yeah that's what I'm afraid of. I mean the design and build quality of the S23 Ultra is great, but the sharp edges dig into my hands which is not only uncomfortable but also borderline painful over extensive periods. Thankfully the S24+ has upgraded specs that are close to that of the S24 Ultra, so it makes the decision much easier. S24+ it is.
The Plus line up attracted me more than the Ultra because I didn't need the best cameras and and an Spen. The Plus does everything I need it too and is also lighter and more comfortable than the Ultra.
I have to admit though I would like them to update the cameras because I believe it's almost exactly the same since the s21 so this would be 4 years. But you're right I won't get the ultra cuz I don't need a tablet. Actually with an s pen in my pocket all the time. The plus model is great with battery life and still small enough to carry comfortably
I agree
i hope the s24+ will have snapdragon8 gen3 in romania(europe) the plus is the best version in my opinion
Good price too, I am S22 Ultra and thinking of possibly upgrading to the S24+.
i appreciate that your team waits until there's actual things to report rather than uploading generic tech adjacent bullsht each day for views
I've been tempted to buy the iPhone 15+ but the 60Hz screen, slow charging and dynamic unibrow don't make it feel like a modern-day smartphone. The pros and ultras have too many features that I wouldn't want to use. Maybe the s24+ will be worth it?
I mean, you get excellent battery life, an excellent screen, excellent performance, pretty good software support, very customizable software, and a decent camera. For cons, the software has some bloat, the cameras are mostly unchanged from S23, the phone is kinda large, and if you're not in a region with Snapdragon, the Exynos chipset holds back the phone.
“Dynamic Unibrow” 😂😂😂
@@MisterWhatWhatI hope he doesn't mind but I'm going to start using that phrase
@@jejunamja same 😂 😂 😂
Yeah but there are no carriers providing decent offers on s23+ 😢 and l had to take 15+
I'm really happy with the S23+ and got it at a really good price, but any improvements are good to see
Yep, year-to-year upgrades are never worth the money. The s23 plus is still a really good phone and it will be a really good phone for years to come actually.
Same here. Have the S23+ here in the US. I like the screen size of the S23+. Large display but feels smaller in hand than pixel 8 pro and definitely the S23 ultra. I hope they don't make the S24+ larger, at all.
Love the mike approach Jaime! New era for Pocketnow.
Thanks. Finally a video that I was expecting!! Probably my new phone 😊
Thanks for this, I have really enjoyed the Video and the product.
i also here a lot about 5x optical lens to replace the 10x......Interesting choice by samsung, I would assume they use a higher MP camera like 50 or above which means although the zoom quality won't improve much (maybe even marginally worse) there might be significant improvements in the 5x to 30x which is the range i personally would appreciate, also it would improve the quality of the current digital zoom between 3x to 10x where the quality is noticably bad right before it switches 10x,
I'm curious, you said the s pen is part of your day to day use, could you make a vid describing everything you do with it?
I always feel like I could do more with it but don't know what
Still loving my S21 Ultra, great design and between Good Lock and the recent software updates it is running great. Debating between the S23+ or S24+ as I don't value the S Pen and really not a fan of the design of the Ultra.
Love the look of the s24 pluses boxy more square design.
Personally, if the S-Pen wasn't indispensable, I could consider the Plus variant, especially now that Samsung has fixed the display resolution. I never understood why they thought it was OK for their Plus model to have a lesser resolution than the Ultra. The Plus model should be able to cater to those who don't care for the S-Pen without skimping on some Ultra features.
They only gimped the plus model starting with the s21 line .about time they returned to normal
Stickin to my S23 with SD here in Europe, no need changing to an Exynos...Not at all....
Been lucky enough to get gifted a Samsung Zfold5 for Christmas which I was able to return. I currently own a NOTE10+ and love my Spen for these as I tried getting to love my partners Zfold5 for a while and couldn't get into its Spen version and the weight of the phone. Beyond excited to wait for the Samsung S24Ultra as my new upgrade
Goning to try the ultra this year.
Hey, thanks for the video and covering the 24 regular and plus model. But I have to say that's a bummer that they're still getting the same cameras. That's the same cameras for how many generations now? Is that all the way back to the 21? Just a little tweaking here and there. So I would guess this would be an upgrade for somebody that has an s20 or an s20 Plus. But yes 21 series got Android 14 so the cameras are the same. Yeah the newer phones will be a hair quicker but that's about it I guess huh?
Can i have the wallpaper link please
I don't know if I want AI on my phone yet I'm not too sure our society is ready for AI we can't even deal with social media apps nevertheless artificial intelligence controlling our phones once we get out there I don't think there's any way of ever falling it back
AI is just a rebranding tactic. What was once called "algorithms" is now called AI✨. They did the same stunt when they marketed The Cloud ☁ten years ago. That was simply a fancy rebranding for accessing data on the internet.
I hope Samsung will have a good trade in program ❤🎉
AIand titanium don't really appeal to me, but I look forward to learning more.
Can they just beef up the battery in the smaller version already
The inclusion of satellite connection like the iPhone 14/15 is a deal-breaker for me. They claim it's for safety reasons, but we all know how causes for the environment and security are exploited by the powers that be. At least they still kept the physical SIM tray...for now.
I'm going with the S24 Plus, because of the improvements they did. I'll be happy to trade in my S22.
What is missing from the regular S24 from the plus model? Besides the bigger battery and bigger screen on the plus ? Any bands or signal differences?
12 gigs of RAM, 1440P screen
Charging speed
I heard no SOS emergency due to Qualcomm dropping their partnership with Iridium. Gonna put them behind in the satcom race for a bit.
I was Higley considering trading my 23U for the 24 plus I just don't like the boxy design of the ultra I like the circular design way better.
Thanx
It seems like you need to sort that mic out can hear every breath in pronounce might want to add in a wind break
I just upgraded to 23ultra from 20plus I wish i had got the 23plus or waited 24plus. For me the ultra corners make it so uncomfortable to 1 hand hold..
then why got the s23ultra first place
Definitely plus model looks to get biggest improvements!
what's the price boss
I love the S23+, looking to replace it with the Pixel 8 Pro, but didn't see enough value to do it. My #1 reason that would get s S24+ is a good trade in value. If not, i'm switching to the P8Pro.
Cameras alone would be the value I would need to trade up
@@katinasoutherland7693that is a bummer that they're keeping the same cameras. Some kind of upgrade in one of them would have been cool
Pixel 8 pro njah. I had it, for me is samsung better. Just my opinion.
*Cobalt violet tho* 👀
It's a nice upgrade but if you already have the S23 Ultra, like myself then it's a no.
I'm upgrading to the s24 ultra 💯
BTW Jaime I like this setup better than the green screen :)
I'm finally upgrading from my 2019 Galaxy S10+
Exynos in eu?i hold on to my s23+
If I don't get that gen 3 snapD in Europe I will not even entertain any thoughts to buy one
I'm getting the S24+ I like it better than the boxy look of the ultra. And the only difference pretty much that I can see is that the ultra has a 200mp camera instead of the 50mp.
@@GH0STST4RSCR34M yeah my S22 ultra is a 108mp and dont see any differnce from the front camera mp.
24 won't be no difference from the s23 only things is the AI snapdragon 3 gen that's it that not much of an upgrade
@@allmightydollar6330 it s not sure if it will have snapdragon or exynos(it s worse)
the plus is worth for me too, i don t take so many photos and it looks better, with better battery life, i just hope s24+ will have snapdragon 8 gen 3
@@toxic-br7te its gonna have the 8 gen 3 in the united states and canada for sure.
If the S24 Plus has a quad HD resolution display, thatll be my choice. And in purple 💜
The S23 has hardly been a flop
It’s definitely a flop. Maybe not in quality of phone but it hasn’t performed as well as they would have wanted. But it was an iPhone year.
@@jaybee4288 every year is an iPhone year. That doesn't mean the s23 didn't sell well. It made the top 10, something Samsung hasn't done in a decade
Finally snapdragon gen 3 worldwide?
Bring back the daily podcast
Plus variant I don’t use the s pen
You should note that Samsung has had titan planned for years
Can’t wait for the s24 plus I switched to iPhone back in September and hate it I want my android back
The best size is the base model. I'm a happy owner of a s23 256gb.
Can we petition case companies like OtterBox to make similar case options for Samsung that Apple has? Samsung is the biggest name in Android so I feel like it should receive similar treatment to Apple.
Been thinking of this forever.
If there is one, I'm signing lol
There are great otterbox cases for Samsung. What do you mean specifically?
@@MzBleuBunni I'm just thinking of the numerous case options Otterbox offers for iPhones. Samsung only gets a fraction of the case options Apple does.
Not just at Otterbox but also at Walmart, Target, and BestBuy. I always have to get one from Amazon!
Samsung isn’t a showy phone like the iPhone. You just need a case to protect it.
exynos again in Europe... I'm going to wait for a pixel or oneplus... . Had so many Samsung's and I'm am always fed-up with battery life after one year of using. had S8, S20 & S22+ already. pattern is always the same... after one year of using battery life goes of the cliff.
S25 will hv massive upgrades in design n camera
Most people are pretty impressed with the pixel and its AI capabilities!
i hope the s24+ will have snapdragon8 gen3 in romania(europe)
I only buy new phones for the camera/battery upgrades... Phones have been powerful enough for a while (AI chips are not including is this).
Ultra is bigger than I'd like, it just doesn't fit in normal pockets, and the size is excessive for most things. I did see a rumor yesterday that S26 (or maybe not until S28) may have a smaller Ultra variant, which I would definitely be interested in. For now, I will likely be getting the S24, unless it proves to be so similar to the S23 that I just get that instead. I also have some interest in the Z Flip, but the lackluster cameras hold that back for me.
i recommend you to wait for S100
@@jokast8861 good thought, I'll probably just have the replace the battery on my Note 10 like 25 times
Yeah it easily fits
I have the Z Flip 5 and I'm telling you, the camera's are still excellent. Unless you are into serious photography, I can't understand how people cap on these camera's. And that's someone who came from an iPhone 14 Pro Max. All I miss is telephoto sometimes.
@@MrOldskool1974 glad it works well for you - they seem okay but pretty lackluster in low light especially. in more optimal conditions the cameras seem serviceable. I'm also just a tad unsure about using a flip for durability concerns
I'm looking forward what the S24+ would bring for me to get it in the summer of 2024, to upgrade my S20 FE that I've had it for 2.5 years by this point. Plus since I live in South-Eastern Europe, I would hope that they either don't launch the Exynos version here, or if they do, hope that the chip won't be that bad (since my S20 FE has an Exynos chip, and it's not that bad).
Fools Edition is garbage
@@DENVEROUTDOORMAN Not the S20 FE (at least for me, it has worked great so far, better than my S9+)
right now i have an s20+ and i want to upgrade to a s24+ i just hope it has snapdragon 8 gen3, not exynos 2400
Just make the pro have a little less great screen, same cameras as the ultra and no s pen.
The ultra is too big for me but I want the better cameras.
Want a real phone get a Samsung, just want to fit in with the crowd get an iPhone……simple
I get a new Note (well now it’s Ultra) every year ever since the OG Note. The S22 Ultra was awful just awful and I traded it for the S23 Ultra. The battery life is so much better. It’s a really solid device this time around and I believe for once I’m going to hold onto it for another year. Aside from the titanium frame and some AI features, there’s nothing really jaw dropping to make me want to give up the S23 Ultra.
I'm curious why you think the S22 Ultra was awful. I'm looking to buy a phone under £500 and as a Note 9 user (love the S Pen) the S22 Ultra was what I landed on. Why should I avoid?
@@dancingclouds6394 well within the first 25 minutes of setting that phone up I got an error when launching the camera. I reached out to tech support who told me they've come across this error and a hard reset would fix it, and it did but I shouldn't have to do that on a brand new phone. 2 weeks go by and the battery life is just flat out awful. I'd have to charge it mid-morning daily even with all the bells and whistles off. 6 months later my device begins to overheat when recording video. Not long video at all. Maybe 5 minutes max. I had to drop the resolution down and that fixed it. I added an eSIM for my second line but then moved it back to its own device again. Ever since then I get a message that my eSIM profile has failed to download although it was already deleted. The worst device I've ever owned from Samsung.
@@dancingclouds6394 The universal agreement is battery was not as good as the S23. The SD8Gen 1 was not as power efficient.
Yayyy
Which phones have 10 years of updates. All new phones are fast enough.
Iphones
@@darthgzuznot 10 years
I currently have the s23+ and it is perfect for me. Waiting to see if the new line up is worth the upgrade or just hanging on to this phone for a little longer
One generation is never a good upgrade unless the previous lineup was a disaster, which is not the case for the S23. The differences will be mild at best
Good morning folks . Normally late
So, for us Europeans, it's a bad year to upgrade to S24 due to this weird decision to launch Exynos in the EU...
The s23 plus has quite the flat sides but it is still round unlike the iphones, but if they make it completely flat, it'll feel worse
S24 will be epic.
Omg these phones and hype promises are costing me a fortune! 15 Pro Max camera good but not great after all the hype, sold that, bought Pixel 8 Pro, camera not as good as my 7 Pro was in my opinion photos too dark have to edit them all, didn't live up to the hype Looking at the, S24 Ultra once released! Camera is everything to me more than anything else! ❤
Pondering the plus variant 🤔
For me this is definitely my next phone. But I am undecided between the base and the plus. As I only use the phone aspect as an actual phone/text and music player. I have my Samsung tablet for everything else. Thoughts? If you please.
Nah get an Ultra
Please, change pop filter on your mic😅
Nope I’m going with the normal galaxy s24
Why is Samsung wasting Snapdragon chips on US customers who will buy iPhones anyway? Or Chinese customers who will buy iPhones or Huawei? Bring those to the rest of the world where Samsung phones are preferred.
There are plenty of USA customers that buys Samsung products, especially phones. 😂😂😂
@@MzBleuBunni exactly, millions on millions of people

I'd love try Android coming from my iPhone 13 Pro. What upcoming Android phone will be around 6" and have triple-lens + top-quality photos and video? Seems with Android you have to go 6.7"+ to get to iPhone 15 pro level photo/video quality and lens options.
The latest Google Pixels have great photos, regardless of phone size
@@eggmcsmurfin Edit: lacks Tele and also has most of it's AI features unavailable where I am in Europe.
you could try the regular s23 or the upcoming s24
@@vineethk133 Appreciate the reply, but std S23 a friend has does not complete vs iPhone pro for photo and video quality imo
There’s no android phone that really does at 6”1.

The sharp corners on the Ultra are bad news. Samsung looks resolute in keeping them. 🤷🏽♂️
Loterally every year the Galaxy S series is suggested as the "best option" for most people.
I think you misunderstood
That's an iPhone 4 with 2 extra cameras on the back 💀💀💀
I just want to get rid off my z flip 5. Terrible Camera + bad battery life.
How bad is the battery life. What is the screen time for it
Agreed. I love the phone but the battery life is atrocious. Can’t wait to trade it for the S24

am i alone who wants Samsung to let us choose if we want exyons vs sd ? i mean Samsung start acting like apple , i m waiting for a normal s series to have a 1 to 120hz refresh rate, 45w fast charging a freaking headphone jack, well i guess this s series will be just a dream but until then i will not buy any crappy exyons
Samsung needs to up their game in video quality coz Apple still is king in video quality.
Not unless you live in the US or Korea.
I'm not buying anything with an Exynos!
just put the ultra cameras on the plus ffs
Won't be buying s24+ with exynos , i wanted to upgrade from s22 plus now i know its not coming with SD in my country so , going to go with Other brand probably motorolla
Every Galaxy and Apple phones over the past 4 or 5 years look the same. Just small upgrades.
Does this mean Samsung has bent the knee for apple
No external storage?! I will stay with Apple.
Why Exynos. No one wants Samsung. You are convincing me to stay with my S22. I was planning to buy S24, if Exynos come, I won't buy
Read this comment Samsung
Exynos for europe, more expensive than snapdragon in usa or... india... No thanks.
lol iPhone is getting more rounded and Samsung more sharp edges.
I’m surprised it’s all boys in the comments. Samsung Galaxy is really a girls phone no offence 🤭
With an exynos chip S24+ will have a very hard time surpassing the S23+ in Asia for many exynos years to come 😄
When those S23+ starts falling apart their owners would go buy iPhones instead if Samsung refuses to deliver SD chips in Asia.
Exynos = no thanks. I'll go with a different brand.
All crap they keep on improving necessary things, and the prices are getting ridiculous, and apparently, Samsung is challenging itself.
Just show the phone.
The phone is the star not U.
This is so annoying.
Probably will be the most uncomfortable galaxy hated the feel of the s22. Have all these features but it will hurt to hold it.
Ahhh the international model getting the inferior chip
man i wish Samsung stopped with the exynos on international models. it's the reason i am sticking with the fe edition cause of snapdragon
