      Love the 8L35. It’s an incredible movement that is just vastly different than Swiss ETA based movements. Totally different experience. Smoother and the crown locks back in seamlessly when it’s screwed back down.

      Man I bet it is awesome!!! Congrats! I wish RUclips would allow photos to be posted. I’d like to see it.
      If you ever decide you want to sell the bracelet please let me know. I’m thinking about getting one right now.

      Which rubber do you use? I guess you have Seiko sla077 or sla079..

    I have this watch and love it. 200 meters is all that is needed. I used to be a depth hound. I bought a Sea-Dweller instead of a Submariner because 1220m is better than 300m. As if I need either. Now, I do also have a Sinn U50 as well which is a super thin and comfortable 500m, but that is an oddity. I am happy with 200m and find zero value in 300m. This is coming from a recovered depth addict. I have the SLA 075 and love it except, I removed the metal keeper and added a silicone one. This watch is fabulous. I am no longer into big watches but this one does it for me. I think the way the underside scallops inward causes it to not wear too big. It is very comfortable for a watch on the big side for me. I sat down on the AD's sofa with this an a 300M monobloc Marinemaster and this one won out. The 300m MM is probably thicker than I want. I was too concerned about that to buy it. I stare and admire the 075 every time I wear it. There is something great about it for me.

      Man I know what you mean about the 300m or higher being mentally the better diver if you will. I am having to keep an open mind right now about just that. I love larger divers. In fact if my AD would have had a mm300 and especially in blue SLA023 I believe, that’s what I would have gotten. I do like the SLA075 and my AD gave me an incredible deal brand new. Probably the largest discount off retail in all my 23 years of buying high end divers which was a huge reason I was even able to buy this fine diver. For me this one is right on the edge of being too small for my eyes but it really does wear like a 42mm and pretty true to its 42.6mm case size. It should have came with the insanely overpriced bracelet that comes stock on the SLA073 that will fit this one and the two Ever Brilliant steel models. That the main thing that I definitely want but Seiko has it overpriced at $415 dollars. I’m on the fence and I wish my AD had a mm300 in black or blue. That’s cool you have the same SLA075 as our model is rarely seen or rarely spoken of. You are right no doubt that this diver wears nearly perfect and you can’t help but look at it! Thanks for your comment brother. Definitely helps me decide. I appreciate it! Enjoy your 075! It’s truly a fine timepiece!

    I feel like Seiko will add one improved feature to a watch and take away two others and slap a more premium price tag. For example, the Ever-Brilliant steel lacks the 300-meter water resistance and the mono-bloc case. I agree that the luster and hardness are amazing but not worth the price tag. I feel like the SLA MM 300 Reinterpretations produced 2018/19 are in that pricing sweet spot.

      You absolutely nailed it! Spot on! I have heard and read where the 200m is like falling short on one of the most important feature that in fact makes the diver or it is seen as less or that it is lacking. 300m is the X Factor just as you perfectly said and identified. You know that has been on my mind with this truly fine diver. It’s just the truth! Man that’s what I call true market analysis. That one major factor that in this case is missing and or holding this diver back from what it would have been and could have been In my video you could probably tell that I was trying to put my finger on where these divers stood and where did they fit. I posed the wrong question in which you answered spot on. I should have asked what about these four divers is or are they missing. You know earlier tonight I sent my AD an email letting him know that I decided that I was sending it back to either exchange this fine diver for possibly a 300m or a 500m and overall larger diver with far more wrist presence which would be for an Oris Aquis. Either 43.5mm or 45.5mm.
      Thanks for commenting man. That was perfect insight that nailed it! Seiko has these divers priced as if they were the 44mm mm300 and Seiko should have never retired that iconic model. The mm300 in my opinion is who, what, why, and how Seiko is today. Have a good one brother.

      I like your illustration about Rolex being like Apple. But on another note, there is a comparison that can be found within Seiko, too. The way Apple markets its products is that you can get a decent iPad for $399. But the version for one hundred dollars more comes with a larger screen. So you have to justify paying that small bump to increase feeling satisfied with your purchase. Oh, but now I'm already spending iPad Air kind of money, so let me now go with that more premium model. However, this is the low end iPad Air for 250 gigs of storage. If I just spend another two hundred dollars I can now get 500 gigs. The marketing strategy is to keep enticing you to seek out the more expensive product. Though now, the price of everything has gone up proportionally. If your spending $2200+ on a Seiko diver, I feel like they should continue giving you 300 meters, or at least maintain that option in their lineup. In the end, it looks like with the higher grade 8L35, we can expect other aspects to go away. Who knows? They may start making new 4 o'clock-crown and monobloc "MM" versions in the future only with 8L55 36K VPH only, and those we might expect to see getting above Omega Seamaster territory. They are able to make a screwback case at 300MM. See the LX SNR models (though they have a Spring Drive). I really wanted to get the SNR029 as my "grail" watch but will be going with the SLA059, instead, with the red Seigaiha dial and a 15% discount from my local AD. I would have loved the SLA025 68' Diver Reissue with the upgraded 8L55 movement, because it also looks so crisp and well put together. But being it is priced insanely high and is basically the first dive watch with a high-beat movement, it's not as if too many other people are swimming with a 5HZ watch containing a rotating bezel. So I don't feel too left out. But going back to the SNR, I personally would be second-guessing myself for getting the Tudor Pelagos 42mm that has a better 500 meter water resistance and is also in titanium. @DiveWatcher

      The SNR029 is too my ultimate Seiko Grail Watch. If I could just get it then I would have attained the pinnacle of what I see as the very best looking dive watch on the planet.
      I totally feel you on apple's upsale deception. They make me mad! They base every decision off of four key elements. GREED. MONEY. POWER. COMPLETE MARKET DICTATION. Apple is the only illegally legalized operating monopoly and doesn't hide it. In fact they are arrogant about it and they own part of the US government. I could write a book! I boycotted apple years back and only have one apple product that I recently received for free. The latest M2 iPad pro 11 inch. I have used it to watch RUclips on but I refuse to support their tyranny dictatorship type of monarch absolute subjugation of 65 percent of the entire world of sheep that follow them and are blind to the evil that apple truly is. They defy economics!!

      @vivofilms oh I meant to add in response to your very likely to transpire which if Seiko in fact goes there and attempts it and that being to take all their 300m or simply the mm300 and raise the prices to the amount of the likes of Omega and Ulysse Nardin, if Seiko has the lack of insight and ethics and seriously tries it will be the second I 100 percent walk away and never even think about seiko as an option ever again. You definitely right I agree. That's exactly what they think they can do and actually prevail and make logical profit margins then they are in for a huge bucket of ice cold water to be poured all over them because the mm300 is nice but it's nowhere near $6,900 nice. It's a shame too. Seiko was to me the last company that had integrity. I was wrong.

      @DiveWatcher Excellent points! Yeah, I feel like up until the time that VidCo started and just as dive watches started to skyrocket in popularity, the market had not fluctuated too heavily from 2005 for an SBDX-style Marinemaster watch. Also, because of the rise of Apple watch users and a younger generation suddenly curious in mechanical watches, I feel like what Seiko started to produce during the years of 2018-2020 were among the very best quality with the prices not yet becoming unattainable. Take for example an SJE diver or Presage with a 6L movement or the higher-end King Seikos with a 6L. You will no longer find ANY under $3,000. That is why I am so in love with my SJE073 Presage with a 6L movement and a frosted dial in an amazing slim case they introduced at Baselworld 2018 when they were highlighting bringing the Presage watches finally to be sold in the US market. And that was retailing at $2,200, for which I negotiated a 20% discount at my AD. I started getting into automatic watches in 2019/2020, just after the SARB033 everyday/dress and the like could only be found on the second-hand market. And I realized the value, because all 6R movements had gone up from about $500 to the $12,000> range. So I felt like if I now had to spend $1,000-$1,400 for an older but desirable Sarb or Sarx that no longer represented the same value proposition, I should just go up to 6L caliber that is equivalent to undecorated Credor movement. In conclusion, I feel like the SLA059 with 300 meters ticks off enough boxes to feel like a winner.

    What made you choose this and not SLA021/23?😊

    • @TheDiveWatcher
      @TheDiveWatcher  5 месяцев назад

      I actually set out to specifically get this SLA075, due in large to the SLA021 and 023 the mm300 I knew had been discontinued but before I bought both the SLA075 and the SLA073, I did ask my Seiko AD if he had either of those mm300s in stock and he had sold out. He even checked with his Seiko rep to see if he was able to get one. Then the other major factor was the incredible discount I received on these two because he had them both in stock and on hand leading to my AD literally giving me the very best discount off retail that I have ever received in all my 23 to 24 years. I just couldn't pass his generosity up. I think if I had pressed the issue of him pulling me one in that he likely would have but my percentage off retail would have only been around the roughly customary 25 to 30 percent off. I actually still want a mm300 though and I saw one earlier tonight up for sale and I asked the seller if he would be interested in a trade for my SLA073. I don't think I could part with the SLA075 now and if given the choice between the 075 and the mm300, I would still get the 075. Something about the new 42.6mm case design is just Dive watch perfection. The mm300 will always be in my opinion Seiko's most iconic Dive watch period. In fact im still shocked Seiko discontinued it. I do hope to get a mm300 at some point or to get my grail watch which is the SNR029. That diver is literally my all time favorite Dive watch. It's rather expensive but whether I get one used or buy one new, I would pick it over any and every Dive watch. Seiko just kills it with their fit and finish and their Dive watch case designs. My apologies my response was long winded. Your question was a good one that sparked my Seiko Dive watch passion up! Thanks a bunch!
