Excellent job! Thank you, that had to take you a while. Would have been even longer if the #2 still went to New Lots Avenue like it did back in the day.
You know this a veteran operator by the speed going thru the BX. I also know this was recorded on a Wednesday as I know normally on Wednesdays they be doing this track maintenance cause service to skip stops in the BX.
That is nowhere close to a veteran's operation speed. They would've never slowed down approaching freeman on the middle track, Rocking past that station at about 45 mph
My first time taking the 2 was when it still had R33 cars from the 5 train. 149th Street-Grand Concourse was the stop where my parents, brothers, and I changed from the 4 train (because I lived next to the 4 at Mount Hope Houses) to get on the 2 to 96th Street as a result of a commencement ceremony my eldest brother had from a jesuit Middle School once located north of 96th Street. It was one of a few lines that I took regularly to the Borough of Manhattan Community College after I finished high school in Taft. I now live near both the 2 at East 238th Street-Nereid Avenue and the 5 train at Dyre Avenue, though I prefer taking the 5 train due to the Dyre overpass connecting the Bronx Park section.
Garrett Goble actually lived near the southern terminus of the 2 train at Flatbush Avenue, which has an inadequate platform setup for a terminus station. It is a sister station to the Misakiguchi station on the Keikyu network in that both stations are on lines with aborted expansion plans. The building of the IBX will make congestion at the station even worse and I feel that an extension down Nostrand Avenue with three underground stations at Kings Highway, Avenue S and Avenue Z would help relieve this. My earlier idea was to extend the line to Kings Plaza, but this would overload the B44 bus because it would serve a corridor where bus ridership is not high enough.
Thanks for sharing this video of the 2 line. I have great memories on this line getting on at either 225 and 219 Streets when I lived in the area 45 years ago. Now, i live near the 5 Dyre Ave line what was known as The Dinky. Back in the day, the 2 line was known as the Beast when it ran to New Lots Ave, Brooklyn up until 1983 when the switch was made between 2/5 and 3/4 lines.
Starting at the 28:30 mark as the train takes the curve to the right of way to the tunnel portal, for many decades there were large brick commercial buidings at both sides of the tracks, which included the Loew's National theater at Bergen Ave. By 1979 that entire block was one huge vacant lot. Now we watch this segment and commercial buildings are again at both sides of the tracks.
i remember riding to the brooklyn museum stop in the summer of 2002... on the 1, when it was still rerouted into brooklyn due to rector street being impassable after 9/11. should also have included that the brooklyn museum stop has a transfer to the franklin shuttle.
I sometimes learn about why the 2 train goes express from east 180th street to 3rd avenue-149th street; due to track replacements, or if someone has been struck by the 2 train! I get the information from Alex Lee on the PIX11 Morning News traffic report! I even ride on the 2 train after I get some groceries at Stop & Shop, by playing a little bit of Supermarket Sweep!
Memories! Back in the '50s my dad had a shop on White Plains Road about a block south of Allerton Ave. If he went in on Saturdays for a while he sometimes took me along. I would stand at the entrance and watch and listen to the Lo-V trains go by on the overhead structure. Pretty exciting for a 5-year-old!
Again, WTAE for the win! 🤩 💪🏾👍🏾 Even if I wasn't a train enthusiast, these videos are still insanely captivating to watch, everything from track layouts, station design, and the smooth express ride through the tunnel. Thank you for this content!

Great job on this video to Flatbush Avenue-Brooklyn College Welcome To An Experience! I like the 2 train! I sometimes ride this train to the Atlantic Terminal Mall! And to go back home from the Atlantic Terminal Mall! During my ride to Pelham Parkway, where I can catch the Bx12 local or the Bx12 Select Bus Service, I would play some Mario Vs Donkey Kong for my Nintendo Switch, until I'm 5 stops away from Pelham Parkway! How do you keep yourself entertained?
Wow! What an excellent video. The concept of having express lines actually under the ground is blowing my mind 🙃 On the Underground in London, we only have two section that could remotely qualify as express lines: The Metropolitan Line from Finchley Road/Harrow-on-the-Hill/Moor Park, and the Piccadilly Line from Hammersmith to Acton Town, and both of those are above ground!

Can you do the N train sea beach line from Coney Island to Astoria ditmars? I lived in NYC for 16 years and I loved taking the Manhattan bound N train to school every day. 20 Av was my stop❤
A noob question from a London Tube Geek: I see from around the 20:00 mark, the train transfers onto the centre track of a 3 track arrangement and that this allows the stations to be bypassed. What about "express" trains going in the other direction. Or does the reverse service simply not exist?
Or is the centre track bi-directional? The Y junction where the 3 track goes back to 2 track, makes me suspect that it it, and that the express trains are just carefully scheduled not to meet 😉
Notice at 1:02:56 at Park Place, the switch from 150 lb. NMC third rail to 150 lb. IRT third rail as the train, heading further south/eastbound, is pulling into the station.
Hello, greetings from the Netherlands. Thank you for the video! The sound reminds of a rollercoaster at the start. But overall its really great to experience everything in this video. Safety concerns.

Great question. All lines currently are controlled by an operator with some areas having the CBTC system installed where operation is autonomous but an operator is still present and operating in certain areas.
