Nothing compares to R32s on the Brighton line in the 60s and 70s. The R40s were best on the E&F. When those stations and the R1/9s were still lit with incandescent bulbs those cars with the gleaming stainless steel and bright front signs looked so modern and awesome.
Riding the B or Q trains on the Brighton line in Brooklyn, is like riding my home subway, the #5 Dyre Avenue line, in the Bronx. It has such a beautiful scenery with it's original railroad structure look to it.

Back in the 1980's, I took the B train to work from Brooklyn NY. I got on at the Bay Parkway and 86th street station. The train originated at Coney Island. I remember the going from Bay Parkway and 86 St. until it went underground at 36th street in Brooklyn, NY. Then it went express to Pacific Street in Brooklyn. Looks like the B trains route was changed.
Yup. I believe in 2004 after the tracks repairs that carry B & D train service over the Manhattan bridge coincide with Stilwell Ave/ Coney Island station renovation was completed, the two lines swap. B became Brighton Express in Brooklyn and the D via 4th became west end.
The B was moved off the West End Line in mid 2001 for the Manhattan Bridge work. The W was created to replace it in Brooklyn while the B ran from 34th Street north to 145 and Bedford Park Blvd. 34 to 145 being only about 14 stops. Prior to this, the B ran as a shuttle overnight between Stillwell and 36th street. When they reopened both sides of the bridge in early 2004, the B was made the Brighton Express and the D the west end local so that the B could be shut down at nights and weekends and give all four lines at Coney full time regular through service to Manhattan. Also the Brighton Line ridership made it known they preferred Broadway service so the Q was promoted to permanent full time Brighton local.

Very enjoyable and informative video. It's a shame about all the trash on the tracks at the open air stations. Do you know what all the white bags are in the subway? Thanks very much.
Thank you so much for sharing. We agree that it is unfortunate about the trash and as the system installs more trash receptacles, we imagine that folks will continue to use them, so that their trash doesn't get onto the tracks. As for the white bags you mentioned, it is believed that those bags are bags the employees use, when they are doing work on the tracks in that area; maybe they are left there until the work train passes to retrieve them and/or the workers come back to finish their work. 💯🫡
Literally just discovered this page and the nostalgia hit me like a ton of bricks. Why are all the elevators jointed rail with wood ties. Can't they do continuous relative rail with composite ties and elevated to make them more quiet? They have continuous welded rail in the subway but why not on the elevated?
Interesting question. We manifest that given the necessary resources, the system will continue finding ways to make it as quiet as possible while still providing the vital service. 🫡🫡
I hate getting dragged from 116 ball to 59 by a slow delta. Even slow ass charlies on cpw. Sometimes if I see a yellow leaving grand or blaf I'll just hold.
We manifest that the system is able, with the given resources, eventually get faster equipment trains onto this Brighton line; it would be interesting to see and we're sure things are being done for a reason.

If you freeze it at 20:33 the interlocking track on the right is for the N and Q train going over the bridge
More like that switches to the opposite track which goes through the Montague Street Tunnel to Whitehall Street South Ferry where the R runs and sometimes the N during nights and weekends 😊
@@mikepignatelli273 I have never notice another interlocking track going thru the Montague St. tunnel connecting it to the R line going toward the Whitehall St. station
I stand corrected that switch did go to the express track where it tied in at DeKalb with the 4th Ave line..
Thank you so much for sharing. Great observation 🏆🫡

Wonderful.

CLASSIC
Literally just discovered this page and the nostalgia hit me like a ton of bricks. I started taking the train by myself in middle school & i sued to take the Q train to Ave J, then when I went to high school i took the express (back the was the D train) to Brighton beach. Love the page, keep up the great work.
Thank you so much and thank you for sharing your memory. It’s an honor to know that the video and channel, can take you back to a time when you started showcasing your courage by riding the train alone. Thanks again and we look forward to your continued support. 🏆🫡
(B)est. Video. Ever.
One of the (B)est routes in the subway with the R68/As roaming around in Concourse-CPW, 6th Avenue, and Brighton Line. I love how the (B) trains roam around the Brighton Line via Express when it by-passes local stops on the (Q), just the (B)est. Kicking it with the good stuff!
Keep up the great work :)

Is this section at 23:03 a disused station? if so, which?
That's the abandoned Myrtle Ave station. It could only hold 4 subway cars Instead of the standard 10 subway cars..

Yes that's the old Myrtle Ave. station.. Too small for regular 10 subway car service.. Could only hold 4 subway cars at that station..

Why are all the elevators jointed rail with wood ties. Can't they do continuous relative rail with composite ties and elevated to make them more quiet? They have continuous welded rail in the subway but why not on the elevated?
I would think the thermal expansion and contraction of long lengths of welded rail would put undue stresses on elevated structures.
Interesting question. We manifest that given the necessary resources, the system will continue finding ways to make it as quiet as possible while still providing the vital service. 🫡🫡
