    Love this. Been taking my kids on river last few weeks spinning and fishing with worms. Been catching loads of trout. I always tell my kids when we get to a peg we have to sit and watch for 5 mins and work out where the fish are first. Going to show them this and then they might think I'm.not talking out me arse 😂 and ill point out how you said about being as quiet as you can 😂😂😂 can't beat our rivers man.

    I find the rules and regulations pathetic
    So we cant fish on a river in closed season
    Yet we can fish on a lake 365 days a year
    The river licence states we can take home 15 silver fish or 1 pike or 1 barble per day to eat
    Yet we are for sport and not to eat ,
    River authorities take the piss ,they want rod licence money from us yet dont do a days work
    More pollution than ever
    No upkeep of banks
    More fish and wild life killed by pollution
    A slap on the wrist for big companies with there dumping of toxins
    Yet the poor fisherman gets the backlash of bs
    Oh and we can all go sea fishing
    So where is the right story of the fish breeding and left alone
    Canadian geese are the biggest shit dumpers going
    But nothing said about them anymore

    • @robshaw3655
      @robshaw3655 11 месяцев назад

      agree with most of that except i dont think the River Authorities receive our rod licence money. It used to be a right pain having to get a licence from each water authority..at least the one licence idea is easier. That money is also available to angling clubs through grants to improve fisheries.

    National regulations mean trout fishing is fine during the Close Season for coarse fish.
    However ,did you check the small print of your local River Authority bylaws ?
    Most ,if not all, Authorities stipulate that only artificial fly or lure can be used .
    Some Local Councils who control stretches of river and allow free public fishing actually ban fishing for any species, including trout and salmon during the Close Season for coarse fish . This avoids people bending the rules and reduces disturbance to spawning coarse fish.
    Of course your area may be an exception in which case congratulations
    on a good video 👍

That's even going back to the old individual river board licences days when you had to buy a licence for each are you fished in rather than the one national one you get now

    Back in the mid-1990s (1991 in Yorkshire), the Environment Agency foolishly caved in to pressure to allow angling on stillwaters in the spring months. There is no need (or excuse) for anyone to fish for coarse fish during the close season.

    • @terryyakamoto3488
      @terryyakamoto3488 Год назад +3

      Have you got any points to argue this position? Or any scientific evidence that it does any harm? I'd argue that there's a very definite "need" to go fishing at this time because people enjoy it. The river close season needs scrapping too, so few people fish the rivers that it is pointless.

    • @portcullis5622
      @portcullis5622 Год назад

      @@terryyakamoto3488 I have plenty of points, but don't have the time right now. So I will merely say that angling is the only field sport that doesn't have a close season. The fact that "people enjoy" fishing in spring is hardly a convincing argument to justify it. People formerly "enjoyed" doing all kinds of things which are now banned on the grounds of animal welfare. Fish are wild creatures and should be left to breed in peace for a few weeks at least. Admittedly, the current close season is far from ideal, as there is wide regional variation in spring weather, temperatures and spawning periods of different species.

    • @terryyakamoto3488
      @terryyakamoto3488 Год назад +1

      @@portcullis5622 The fact that "people enjoy" it wasn't put forward as a justifiable reason for scrapping the close season, rather as a counter to your claim that there is "no need" for fishing in spring. I would argue that having anglers on our river banks reporting fish kills through pollution, over use of water by private water companies, environmental damage from landowners plus the deterrent of unnatural predation by cormorants and seals, provides more benefit to the fish than otherwise. Secondly, my river the Tees is probably the most fished in the northeast, yet only a couple of stretches see angling pressure and most of the river hardly ever sees an angler, unfortunately

Nine to ten months is a long enough season to pursue any species of fish.
