I never did drink or smoke. Some of the other things I did years ago. I got rid of toxic relationships which includes my family. Some of these habits are hard to break but it can be done. I think keeping active also does help. It is good for your mind and body. I meditate every morning for at least twenty minutes and again in the evening it helps to clear your head.

I'm at 9 out of 11 good habits. I still eat lean ham and a few processed foods (canned chili for fiber - I mix half a can of chili with half a can of diced tomato's). Even though I don't follow 2 of 11 strictly, I'm still about 80% on those 2.

This is a very refreshing perspective! Just like in reviving mind, we encourage people our age to let go the things that they cannot control and focus more on the things that they can control that would help them achieve a happy fulfilling life. We encourage them to focus on their emotional wellbeing that encompasses their balance diet, their healthy relationships or friendships, their capability of eliminating those that causes them stress, and of course a well-balance sleep.
Good point. I have a kid that totally disagrees with me from a political perspective. Well guess what you can change regarding politics?.. nothing beyond your ONE vote. That's it. This kid is gonna put himself in and early grave because these politicians care about one thing. themselves.

I had stage 4 cancer. Exercise makes a switch in my brain. The gyms only just reopened, and i feel younger already. Don't watch news, watch comedies. Life is good, look at your sons eyes.
When I quit taking alcohol, I was sure I didn't need our in my life. Though I couldn't visualize a future without it, I went for it non the less. I don't regret it. I am healthy, organized, ambitious and more fulfilled. There's plenty more ways to find meaningful friendships and recreational pastimes without involving alcohol.
When one is not happy, he fills the boredom and unhappiness with all sorts of addictions, including internet addiction. Find something physical to do. The best and easiest is walking. Breath the fresh air and spend time alone. Do it more often.
Eating less and avoiding the sugar is the key for weigh loss and less health problems as I do. Its not easy without sugar. But the thing is I am apathetic to life and dont fight for long living. Cant find almost anything that makes me really happy. Maybe the only thing that keeps me is when the people i love are okey.

Food addiction is my problem, but only because I love pies. Still my weight is like I was in my teens. I'm glad that I'm not in bit coin so stress is not a problem too. I'm 89 years old and must have good genes. My siblings died at 65, 70, 80, 89, and 90. I have two siblings living at 86 and 95.

In 1967 I was in sixth grade I recall weighing 100 lbs n most other kids in my class weighed like 75 lbs. I am 65 now and still remember the anxiety I had knowing that at some point during the school year, we would all get weighed and our weights would be announced to the entire class. This took place by our grade school coach during PE class. It was awful as I was one of the chubby kids. I had developed sort of a PTSD from this, I felt so embarrassed. I don't like getting on a scale even at the doctor's office.

Tomorrow as 2 times a week I am going to move 200m in 35 sec. This is my sprint running exercise. I gives me endorfine and I love running fast in spite of 80 yrs of age. Other hobbies doing a HIIT exercise twice a week and lifting weights every second day Lots of moving myself. Happi to be able in my age. They seem to repeat the same theme of dysfunctional food habits. I would suggest adding living dangerously (speeding, not wearing seatbelt, risky recreational activities, etc.) They also ignore recreational drug use and don't address hygiene or finding employment that allows you to afford secure housing, medical access as necessary and healthy food. I can think of a lot more. I wonder who made this list? What did they base their choices on?
Being righteous. yeah sky diving, cave diving. skiing, camping the back country, rock, mountain climbing those are simply not good choices to reach old age.
Not surprising the Deity thing is losing a lotta steam worldwide as these instruments are finding exo-planets by the zillions. Please check your facts about red meat. Recent studies show that meat especially fat meat associated with low carb is key to fighting insulin resistance the cause of diabetes and other inflammation related diseases. The issue is not red meat but what kind of red meat. Meat coming from grass fed animals raised naturally without hormones, not exposed to glyphosate is more expensive than meat coming from conventionally raised animals, but they are a much better option. That being said, I wish you had mentioned sugar as one of the bad habits.
I struggle most with 2 , 10, 11 l don't keep bad company but l have limited time in good company I know l need to exersise more and l do have a negative.mind set.

Some people choose success over happiness, work incredibly hard, don’t spend time with family and friends and die miserably maybe with plenty of wealth that they never had time to enjoy. If you are good at what you do, the success will follow and money will come along with it and it’s up to you to keep the right balance and enjoy life by doing what pleases you (I.e. hobbies…) and not compromising too much. Time well spent (by keeping the right balance between work and fun time ) and reliance on yourself and your capabilities are important factors to live the life to the fullest.

Everything is soo individual, it depends on a thousands of things. To begin with genes. My grand grand father used to smoke a lot, really a lot, also drink alcohol and he lived in peace, village life, up to 90 and something tears old. Other people don't have bad habits such as junk food, cigarettes and alcohol, but have toxic relationships, a lot of stress and stuff and they barely live up to 50 s. So it all depends. But I agree it won't hurt if a person is trying their best to avoid bad habits.
My folks lived to their 90ies, died in the same year, same month, different reasons and days, in that same month they would have celebrated their 72nd Wedding Anniversary. The most important in our family life was our belief in, & worshiping Almighty. God. I’m the youngest child, folks & much older siblings gone back to the Lord, died in their 90ies.... except for one who died at 87 years of age. Every family party we had, she would bring a gallon of cheap wine, drink the whole thing by herself & smoke, too! No one else drank wine 🍷 in the family. Eastern Europeans here. I’m an older senior going strong - no drinking, no smoking, no medications, love veggies, & have been praying, attending church services, & worshiping my Lord. 🙏🏼❤️ Life is beautiful! If your ears are buzzing at night, that’s me praying for the whole world 🌎....get your Inoculations against the Coronavirus, I heard some people are not. Sad.

I definitely agree with all 11 points, but from personal experience I'd say the #11 should be the #1. All of the other things kind of flow from the mindset. Yes it's the hardest thing to change, out of all of them imo, but it IS the most important.

I was lucky, being raised on home cooked meals years before junk and takeaway food were heard of. Consequently, the look and smell of it makes me queasy, so much so that I'd have to be dying of starvation before I ate it. I don't drink. Can't stand the sight of blind drunk people. Don't gamble, either. I refuse to enrich others by being stupid. Avoid toxic people, no matter who they are. The stress they create will damage you. It took me a while to decide to jettison certain people,, but once I did, it felt soooo much better. Practise gratitude every day for the little things you observe. A playful puppy, the scent of a flower, a spider spinning its web. The world is full of these marvels. Gentle daily exercise. No need to kill yourself at a sweaty gym. A good hours walk charges the batteries. Never stop learning. Study, read, debate and research. Your mind will be happy and so will you.
Eat healthy, drink green tea, exercise, take vitamin tabs and sleep well. That's what I've done and just celebrated my 90th birthday lately. 😊 😊 😊

I too followed your regime? Except the bible, am now 86 years old, the excercise bike keeps my legs nimble. I eat when I feel like it.

Just like in reviving mind, we encourage people our age to let go the things that they cannot control and focus more on the things that they can control that would help them achieve a happy fulfilling life. We encourage them to focus on their emotional wellbeing that encompasses their balance diet, their healthy relationships or friendships, their capability of eliminating those that causes them stress, and of course a well-balance sleep.
Good point. I have a kid that totally disagrees with me from a political perspective. Well guess what you can change regarding politics?.. nothing beyond your ONE vote. That's it. This kid is gonna put himself in and early grave because these politicians care about one thing. themselves.
Wow I only fall short 2 out of 11 on this list. I used to exercise but not since I have my son. Still working on improving my negative thoughts pattern.
I had stage 4 cancer. Exercise makes a switch in my brain. The gyms only just reopened, and i feel younger already. Don't watch news, watch comedies. Life is good, look at your sons eyes.

When I quit taking alcohol, I was sure I didn't need our in my life. Though I couldn't visualize a future without it, I went for it non the less. I don't regret it. I am healthy, organized, ambitious and more fulfilled. There's plenty more ways to find meaningful friendships and recreational pastimes without involving alcohol.

When one is not happy, he fills the boredom and unhappiness with all sorts of addictions, including internet addiction. Find something physical to do. The best and easiest is walking. Breath the fresh air and spend time alone. Do it more often.

Eating less and avoiding the sugar is the key for weigh loss and less health problems as I do. Its not easy without sugar. But the thing is I am apathetic to life and dont fight for long living. Cant find almost anything that makes me really happy. Maybe the only thing that keeps me is when the people i love are okey.

Food addiction is my problem, but only because I love pies. Still my weight is like I was in my teens. I'm glad that I'm not in bit coin so stress is not a problem too. I'm 89 years old and must have good genes. My siblings died at 65, 70, 80, 89, and 90. I have two siblings living at 86 and 95.

Food addiction is also my problem. It's always been my problem. Ever since I can remember I've been overweight. In 1967 I was in sixth grade I recall weighing 100 lbs n most other kids in my class weighed like 75 lbs. I hated that every school year a nurse would show up un-announced n weigh each student in front of class. Then she would call out our weight. This was in Washington state. Smh

I am 65 now and still remember the anxiety I had knowing that at some point during the school year, we would all get weighed and our weights would be announced to the entire class. This took place by our grade school coach during PE class. It was awful as I was one of the chubby kids. I had developed sort of a PTSD from this, I felt so embarrassed.
I don't like getting on a scale even at the doctor's office.

They seem to repeat the same theme of dysfunctional food habits. I would suggest adding living dangerously (speeding, not wearing seatbelt, risky recreational activities, etc.) They also ignore recreational drug use and don't address hygiene or finding employment that allows you to afford secure housing, medical access as necessary and healthy food. I can think of a lot more.

Not surprising the Deity thing is losing a lotta steam worldwide as these instruments are finding exo-planets by the zillions. Used to be this rock was the center of everything but now its realized its just another rock amongst zillions of galaxies. We may have been seeded from elsewhere however that may be a stretch due to the fact that to live here we pretty much had to evolve here amongst the zillions of other critters that evolved along with us. sure look at our regolith here. And tectonics. Without either of them there would be no possibility of life here. My biggest problem with a Deity belief system is WHY do animals have to kill organics to survive? Because if I was designing animals that would not be the case. There's also the matter of Soul... where do all the new one's derive?

Please check your facts about red meat. Recent studies show that meat especially fat meat associated with low carb is key to fighting insulin resistance the cause of diabetes and other inflammation related diseases. The issue is not red meat but what kind of red meat. Meat coming from grass fed animals raised naturally without hormones, not exposed to glyphosate is more expensive than meat coming from conventionally raised animals, but they are a much better option. That being said, I wish you had mentioned sugar as one of the bad habits.

@@anastassiosperakis2869 Happiness and success are not necessary linked. There are plenty of very successful people who are depressed and some even commit suicide. Some people choose success over happiness, work incredibly hard, don’t spend time with family and friends and die miserably maybe with plenty of wealth that they never had time to enjoy. If you are good at what you do, the success will follow and money will come along with it and it’s up to you to keep the right balance and enjoy life by doing what pleases you (I.e. hobbies…) and not compromising too much. Time well spent (by keeping the right balance between work and fun time ) and reliance on yourself and your capabilities are important factors to live the life to the fullest.

I don’t smoke don’t drink I’m not by choice in a relationship I associate with a crowd that are half positive the other negative my stress comes from family members I do exercise I eat red meat once or twice a week my battle is processed food I have cut down on the junk food but I do eat chips once in a while I have many hobbies that keep me busy thank you for your lists I do like some salads eat a lot of eggs try to eat fish I need some work I saved this video as a blueprint

Everything is soo individual, it depends on a thousands of things. To begin with genes. My grand grand father used to smoke a lot, really a lot, also drink alcohol and he lived in peace, village life, up to 90 and something tears old. Other people don't have bad habits such as junk food, cigarettes and alcohol, but have toxic relationships, a lot of stress and stuff and they barely live up to 50 s. So it all depends. But I agree it won't hurt if a person is trying their best to avoid bad habits.

My folks lived to their 90ies, died in the same year, same month, different reasons and days, in that same month they would have celebrated their 72nd Wedding Anniversary. The most important in our family life was our belief in, & worshiping Almighty. God. I’m the youngest child, folks & much older siblings gone back to the Lord, died in their 90ies.... except for one who died at 87 years of age. Every family party we had, she would bring a gallon of cheap wine, drink the whole thing by herself & smoke, too! No one else drank wine 🍷 in the family. Eastern Europeans here. I’m an older senior going strong - no drinking, no smoking, no medications, love veggies, & have been praying, attending church services, & worshiping my Lord. 🙏🏼❤️ Life is beautiful! If your ears are buzzing at night, that’s me praying for the whole world 🌎....get your Inoculations against the Coronavirus, I heard some people are not. Sad.
To each their own. I know an atheist that is 97 years old and still has ALL his marbles. never believed in a Deity. I'm 80 and never believed in a Deity either. Stay away from toxic people!!
For mental health and a young mind, go for projects that are likely to need thinking and creativity, eg learning a language or a new skill. It's for younger people" : I'm talking about tackling challenging books, there's no reason to just take the easy route of comfort reading, and it could well lead to the excitement of yet another word that can be added to your vocabulary almost every day. I was lucky, being raised on home cooked meals years before junk and takeaway food were heard of. Consequently, the look and smell of it makes me queasy, so much so that I'd have to be dying of starvation before I ate it.
I don't drink. Can't stand the sight of blind drunk people.
Don't gamble, either. I refuse to enrich others by being stupid.
Avoid toxic people, no matter who they are. The stress they create will damage you.
It took me a while to decide to jettison certain people,, but once I did, it felt soooo much better.
Practise gratitude every day for the little things you observe. A playful puppy, the scent of a flower, a spider spinning its web. The world is full of these marvels.
Gentle daily exercise. No need to kill yourself at a sweaty gym. A good hours walk charges the batteries.
Never stop learning. Study, read, debate and research. Your mind will be happy and so will you.
