  • If you haven’t heard about black rice yet, girl trusts me; you are not alone. I’ve been eating healthy for several years now, but I haven’t even heard about black rice until last summer when my aunt gave me some.
    Ohh boy… but since then, I’m addicted. I did my research and found out what a superfood black rice is. And I also have a black rice pudding recipe, which is super delicious with coconut milk and a ton of fresh fruits!
    Black rice can be found in various cuisines worldwide, though it is not as popular as white or brown rice. Shame, though; since black rice has many nutritious benefits, we should cook black rice more often. Black rice can be a great side dish, or you can make nice desserts.
    Health benefits of Black rice
    Black rice is full of nutrients. It is high in protein, fiber, vitamin E and iron.
    Iron is a mineral vital to hemoglobin’s proper function, a protein needed to transport oxygen in the blood. Iron also has a role in a variety of other important processes in the body. Iron deficiency can cause diseases and malfunctions.
    Black rice is also high in antioxidants, especially anthocyanin, where purple is purple, just like blueberries. Studies show that this antioxidant has strong anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer effects. Inflammation is a normal immune response of the body, but it can be the cause of several illnesses like diabetes, cancer, and heart disease when it becomes chronic.
    Black rice is also rich in other antioxidants that can repair the damage caused by free radicals and oxidative stress. In fact, more than 23 other antioxidants were found in black rice besides anthocyanin.
    Some antioxidants in black rice support eye health and reduce the damage of the retina caused by free radicals.
    Black rice contains a high amount of fiber. Fiber is important for overall health and also aids healthy digestion. It can reduce the risk of digestive issues and constipation. It can also play a part in controlling blood sugar levels and reduce blood sugar spikes after eating. Black rice is naturally gluten-free, so it can be a good alternative to people who have gluten sensitivity or simply want to avoid gluten.

      This of course as you know will vary from person to person. In my case, the curve is surprisingly moderate! Probably has to do with its incredible fiber content. I don't want to get to graphic but when I go to the bathroom next day it's definitely noticeable!

      I don't blame you, at that price I'd pass too. Try Amazon, we buy a brand called Nero, from Italy. It comes in case of 12 (500gr) boxes, at about $5/lb. Excellent quality too!

      Non-GMO 5lbs bag is $9.99 dollars in Indiana. It is from Thailand .

    • @michaelkelly3221
      @michaelkelly3221 2 года назад

      @@EhFishing I would be very leery of a price that low. Unscrupulous sellers, often from Asia, will color the rice with a dye to make it appear black. You're better off buying from a reputable seller and paying the market price.
