    💕Claude💕 looks so handsome in the sun! All silver and regal. I don't know if this helps but I've heard Tropical Research patterns are really well drafted. I've seen the Baby Doll and it's really fabulous but very full. He's working on a new pattern...I think it's the Beach Dress? Two of your choices really intrigued me so I'm off to go down those rabbit holes. My "no new patterns this year" is going really well. It's June and I think I've bought 15 or so. I'm not counting my sewing guild haul since most of those I'm selling. I bought 48 patterns at 25 cents each and I'm keeping 4 TSW and 1 Katherine Tilton. OK, change my total to 20 patterns so far. I'm also not counting the 2 patterns sitting in my Etsy 🛒, lol.

      I see I am in good company in my (oft failed) attempts to curb my pattern and fabric buying impulses! I think we should give ourselves credit for being aware and making efforts to edit and reduce; and that we should simultaneously celebrate our passion and creativity. I like to think it's all about the journey toward "seeking" balance . . . 😉

    Thanks your videos. I started with Diane Ericson's French Fold shrug. Your video was quite a big help. Of the patterns you listed in this video, I have only made the Lawrence. And I only made a muslin/toile. It has definitely possibilities though I did find the placement of the pockets odd (opening directly under my armpits). Also the side facing creates an extraneous vertical stitching line through the pockets. I stopped with the toile but maybe should give it another go. Thanks again.

    Some interesting new designers I need to research. I’ve always loved black and white combination but find it a bit harsh now that I’m older. I think navy and white is much more wearable and good for summer, I’ve been on a bit of a navy/white kick lately. Boy oh boy, those dresses with the gathers a and full sleeves look so cute but fabric hungry 😋.

    So nice to see you today. 😊 Lots of fun patterns. I really like the two Sew Man blouses, the Minimalist Drop Shoulder, and the Drop Shoulder Oversized shirt.They are a bit different than your usual picks, but I really like them. I could definitely see these in a lighter linen, or for fall in something heavier. I also liked Vivian Chen’s Nepheline Blouse. I looked up the Daniela Gregis boat neck and it is lovely.
    The Aria and the Baby Doll are just beautiful & light and romantic 🤗. At the Sewing Workshop I like the Toscanini dress, and the really like the Edgwater dress and skirt. I haven’t looked at Elba Textiles before, but they have some really clever makes. I am very interested in the Davis Crossbody bag. It would be a great pocket for my phone when I go walking. Thank you for all your research, I have enjoyed looking them up. Lots of fun. I would say my favorites are the two blouses by Sewing Man, and the unusual shape of the Edgewater Dress and skirt by the Sewing Workshop. Take care Gini😊❤️

Swoon! Too voluminous for me, but wow! Have you see the Meadowood blouse by Straight Stitch designs? Similar to some styles you're showing here. Hi Gini, So many interesting patterns, so hard to choose! I especially love the Hubba Ding Jules, June and Poppy dresses; also the Tobias Konrath Baby Doll and Arias dresses and the Lazy Top look interesting. The Vivian Shao Chen tank is EXACTLY what I've been looking for: an easy-sew tank with a relaxed, minimalist but still aesthetically considered style. Also, it doesn't require heaps of fabric, which is great. Thank you for introducing me to these indie designers! Not to add yet another choice, but have you considered the Burda 6035 cross-over front trousers for the ikat fabric? These are not drop-crotch, but there is something about the cross-front version that is reminiscent of Japanese fishermen trousers. Because of the wide leg and drape, they would showcase that gorgeous fabric to advantage. The only thing I would consider changing, is to make the back waist elasticated (which would be another interesting tutorial 😉). Not sure if you have enough fabric to make these, but I think they would really look great with that fabric. Thanks again, Gini for showcasing so many interesting pattern designs and designers. And, of course, looking forward to an eventual boatneck tutorial! Jen

    I wonder how these would fit a size 16-18 at times. I have such a hard time with "image".

    • @thebigsewalong
      @thebigsewalong  Год назад +1

      I think these would be fine on a 16-18 Think you just have to pay attention to proportion. If you have a bigger bust: less fullness in the body is better, if you are shorter; a shorter length is probably better than one that comes to the ankle etc... on the other hand if you are taller and a size 16-18 you can wear any of these!

    Beautiful and I’m sure high quality fabrics…but is “wrinkled” a look now? I guess I just haven’t kept up. I do wear tops sometimes that have a bit of wrinkling to them….and I rarely pick up an iron anymore….I just give my slightly wrinkled clothing a spritz with a misting bottle and that does the trick….mostly. But this super wrinkled pink top is not one I would wear out in public. Sorry, no offense to anyone. 4:40

    • @thebigsewalong
      @thebigsewalong  Год назад

      Thanks for the comment Nancy (and for watching!) I think this “perma-wrinkle” fabric was something Daniela Gregis used in a collection a year or so ago but I don’t think it’s a real trend or anything. I don’t mind a bit of wrinkling myself but I know a LOT of people don’t like it so definitely not for everyone
