    I think I'd wear a onesie catsuit thing with the skirt. Then a boxy sleeveless top over that.

    Love your new kitchen. I think a longer top would go well with the skirt. Loosely fitting of course in my eyes.

    I would wear a fitted tank or t-shirt underneath with a cropped jacket as a topper with the skirt. The Rae Dress and Rae Shirt patterns are 2 of my favorite warm weather patterns. I have made the Rae top with and w/out sleeves and 2 Rae dresses both w/out sleeves. I hope you like and have success with the Rae pattern.

    I have a similar skirt from Bryn Walker. I love to wear it with a fitted tank that shows at the bottom and a very wide, oversized cropped long sleeve French Terry sort of thing. It also looks great with a low hip A line asymmetrical hem situation. It's one of my favorite skirts. It looks good with sandals or boots.

    Loving your plans and definitely a short boxy top with the skirt. Cannot wait to see the 70’s fabric 😍 made up. It is wonderful. Happy Sewing😊. Lynne

    Im loving that cover up pattern. And the fabric you chose will be perfect. Omg. That skirt pattern is to die for. I'm thinking a shorter top. Boxy for sure. Or an oversized boxy sweatshirt. Chunky sneakers or boots for sure!!!

    • @thebigsewalong
      @thebigsewalong  2 месяца назад

      so far the consensus has been shorter boxy top. I think sneakers for now but SO CUTE with boots in the fall right?

    Beautiful kitchen. Isn't it fun to have something new that you love being and cooking in? Love your plans. Ill also make the S9907. I don't make skirts. No reason other than I don't like them on me. Own a half dozen Tessuti patterns and love them all. Top is Robbie pants.

    I am in Detroit next week. Bernina University at the RenCen. Tagging on a few days before and after so I can hang with family and shop Habermans. HAHA
    I think a sporty tee or tank of a knit would be cute with the skirt. Or a boxy crop style of a woven or knit. Straight hem, no asymetricals.
    LOVE the backsplash.

    Hi Gini, sooo good to see you again🤗. Your kitchen looks amazing. I am so happy for you 😊. These are some fun looking patterns and fabulous fabrics! I can’t wait to see how the jogger pants turn out, and how you wear them. I also like the pants pattern with the apron in it. The Tessuti dress pattern looks really interesting with the bottom band in it. Do you think it would look good shortened as a tunic? Your fabrics all look so great. I love the black with white ikat fabric for your pants. The fabric with the huge flowers is so fun, you will look amazing in it. Do you think the jogger pant would need a stiffer knit to hold its shape? It looks like it would be so comfy in a slightly drapey knit. I look forward to to seeing if the jogger can be made with a woven fabric 😊. I would imagine you are anxious to sew now that the work is done. Again your kitchen looks great.🤗. Looking forward to seeing what you have sewn, even muslins, next week. Hugs😘

      Hi Judith!! thank you! I do love my new kitchen. That "Rae" dress from Tessuti also comes as a top pattern so I think a tunic would work too. I wasn't thinking about all those seams when I chose my plaid fabric for that so I"ll have to come up with something else. I am NOT matching all those lines 😂The jogger calls for a heavier knit but I think they would be kind of cool in a drapey knit. We shall see. I'm certain that can be made in a woven I might have to add a little to the width just to be sure I have room to move but I am going to try that. Charlotte suggested using my plaid fabric for those since they only have two seams so I'm thinking on that and YES Claude and I are both anxious to get back to our regular schedule of sewing and napping 😂

    I looked at that skirt pattern, too. I never wear skirts. Never. Yet almost bought it to encourage them to make more things like it. Take an oversized long tee and keep folding/pinning it up until you find what length works best. I bought that same drop crotch pant pattern! I would see how it fits in a knit...mens patterns have little difference between waist/hip....then think about using that plaid linen. They will only have side seam matching and would be so cute. You can always add a bit of volume to the legs if needed. The Tessuti would be a nightmare to make in plaid fabric. To me, caftans are timeless, but that show "Palm Royale" really made them huge for summer! That 70's fabric is perfect for that pattern which reminds me of an old Bryn Walker style from years ago. Do the full length one out of that, you'll have it forever. Chances are it has rayon in it, prob rayon/poly. Looks like Claude loves his new beautiful kitchen! I like a small kitchen, less steps to get to ingredients and less room for people to hang around., lol. That tile is gorgeous and love the new cabinets.

    • @thebigsewalong
      @thebigsewalong  2 месяца назад +1

      thank you Charlotte! OMG I wasn't thinking when I chose that fabric for the "Rae" dress-waaaay too many seams in that for a plaid!! BUT I love your idea of using that plaid for the drop crotch men's pant! Genius!!! Definitely doing the full length version of the caftan in the 70's fabric! Now I need some really cool slides to go with it: want to look pulled together while I sit by the pool and sip cocktails and eat finger sandwiches 😂

    Glad to see you are back! I often times will wear another short dress over top of a longer skirt. The dress is usually something I would not wear alone, and then I put a big swooshy skirt underneath. It creates an interesting siholuette. I made a Seamwork Mojave out of a white battenburg lace curtain and wear a white patchwork, eyelet lace skirt under it with white combat boots. I personally love it.

    The Simplicity pants pattern, I like those. I still have not tried pants and I need to do this. I want to make some Style Arc pants patterns I have in stash. I have an order ready for Tina Givens🥰 I’m excited!
    I love your plans for the cartoon print skirt! Can you change waistband? Should you change waistband to work with the top you choose? Pattern has cute drawstring but it could change if it’s going to be covered. I love black, not a crop top…. tank sweater. Something edgy maybe for top.

    • @thebigsewalong
      @thebigsewalong  2 месяца назад

      thank you Cheryl! Let me know how you get along with Tina Givens patterns. I have several Syle Arc pants patterns and like them all plus a lot of my viewers recommend them. I think I will eliminate that drawstring at the waist on the skirt. It won't show but it might make an ugly bump there thanks for the suggestion as I hadn't thought of that

    That skirt is going to be amazing! Did you ever try the Chanterelle pant by Sew Liberated? I finished their class, it was quite good, and the end result reminds me a lot of the barrel-leg pants versions you showed in the beginning of this video.. Have fun getting back into your sewing groove!

      Yes! Christine I made the Chanterelle a while back and really like it. I almost didn't buy this simplicity pattern because I think the shape is so similar AND I have the Sewing Workshop Picasso pant which is ALSO. similar but, you know, I'm always up for a new pattern 😂

    Kitchen is gorgeous! The cargo skirt is really cute, but yeah, what top? Black or white tee, easy but not too close fitting, hemmed to waistband? So shorter but not too cropped. Or, are the sleeveless-tee-with-a-shoulder-pad too "last summer" That might be a nice architectural shape with the skirt...
