- Hey Peeps! This has been long overdue! I love making skirts but I rarely wear them.....something I need to remember! I'm so pleased I have sorted through my collection and been ruthless! What do you think? Will I ever turn the skirts I love in to dresses so they get worn? Will I work out how to style these pieces so I enjoy reaching for them? Do you have any tips?

I love the yellow and black skirt the best, but they are all pretty. Making the skirts into dresses is a brilliant idea, and will be a fairly straightforward win win transformation!
So many beautiful skirts!!! 😍 My heart is breaking... I'd gladly relieve you of some of the ones that are too big for you 😊 Lucky mum (although she deserves the borrowing rights, after all the jumpers she knits you!) I have the opposite habit, I'm much more likely to reach for separates than for dresses, even though I am constantly dreaming up dress styles I want to make. It takes deliberate effort to change one's habits, but I am sure both of us can do it! 😊
I would like to offer the suggestion of a wrap front top to style with the skirts, such as the Itch to Stitch Brasov top, or another wrap style. I also like the way the camisole looks with your skirts, so maybe a bodice similar to your Grace dress would work for skirt-to-dress projects where you have less fabric. :)
I would love to hear ideas about how to wear dresses and skirts in cold weather without getting cold legs! Many petticoats? Tall boots?
You're definitely more the type for patterned top and solid bottom unless it's a dress. That's a good lesson to take on board, and it's good that you have enough fabric to give so many of your skirts a second life as a dress. Suggestion for the border print on white - with the kinda funky print, would it be a nice experiment to make a solid white bodice, pick one colour from the print and try for a dip dye ombre effect so you have the white only around the waist? You could do it before even attaching the bodice, so if it goes horribly wrong, you'd just have to whip up another white bodice. My inner eye thinks that it could look cool.
I love the brown soutache skirt! It would make a good foundation piece if you ever need a hobbity outfit.

With the border print skirt with the black at the bottom and white on top, what if you pulled out the blue or one of the other Spring colours in it to make the bodice from? You might find with a white bodice that you end up still not wearing it…
I know you love a fitted waistband, but how about adding elastic to the back of some of the bigger skirts?

With the border print skirt (5:18) you could pick out the blue in the print and have black straps and waist band. It might be my screen, but isn't stark white 'not your colour' (to be clear based on the seasons not how you look in the white)?
Oh I know what you mean but I was thinking the Grace bodice (so low cut) worn with gold jewellery might mean I get away with it. I shall play around with that one a little as I know I no longer have the rest of the fabric 😊

Why not wear those “orphan” shirts with a white t-shirt and sneakers? A nice fitted T-shirt in a white/cream to suit your completion would look lovely.
I've tried it and I just don't "feel" right in the outfit! I think it's a habit thing now but dresses are my favourite! 😊
