Not only on first class, you can feel Garuda Indonesia crew’s hospitality in economic class also. The crew serving us with sincere, truly Asian culture. I’ve tried many airlines such as Malaysian Airlines, Singapore Airlines, but from my experience, Garuda is still the best.

How could 170+ people NOT like this report?? It's one of the best reviews I've ever seen. Garuda's come a long long way in the past few years. I've been to Bali at least 5 times, this makes me want to go back, it's a long long trip from where I live in NM. Again, thanks for a great video.
Different people have different opinion and experiences. Don't shame them if they have different views, shame on you instead. Embrace multi-cultural views of people, stop being so small-minded and racist.

Mrese I flew Melbourne to Jakarta on business class once. I overslept through breakfast time and the flight attendant really tried to convince me to order something and eat. Excellent hospitality and that was not even in first class! Love it.

It's not so upbeat when you're in row 52, the seat has a pitch of 30" and the flight is 11 hours!
I see all these videos about people flying in fancy airline seats to far flung destinations. Me, I am just happy to get to fly on a little airplane in a regular old economy seat on a short hop over from Brisbane to Adelaide to see the family. To me flying is fun regardless of the airline or class or destination (unless you are flying Jetstar and your flight gets canceled or you are flying Tiger with its crappy service then its definitely not fun...)

Hey there! Thanks for trying out our national carrier. Garuda’s First Class has consistently been raved for its excellent service and attention to detail by many other flight reviewers, especially for the over the top escort through departure, immigration and arrival. Garuda even won Best Cabin Crew from Skytrax 4 years in a row, beating Singapore Airlines. Now that is an extraordinary feat, I have to say.
Unfortunately they are starting to phase out their first class in some of their flights to London and Amsterdam from Jakarta. So we might not even see their first class anymore in a couple of years. Garuda are cutting back on quite a lot of things at the moment. As of this year, for example, they downgraded their champagne list in First Class from having 2000 Billecart-Salmon Cuvée Nicolas-François and 2000 Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rose to now serving Billecart-Salmon Brut Rosé and Taittinger Brut Reserve.
I guess they’re losing out on their long haul flights to Singapore Airlines and the 3 Middle Eastern Carriers (Emirates, Qatar and Etihad). Garuda were supposed to start flying to Los Angeles, Moscow, Frankfurt and Paris this year, but all of them have been postponed for I don’t know how long. It doesn’t help as well the fact that their hub is in CGK in Jakarta. The city doesn’t exactly attract many tourists travelling premium. But fortunately Bali is going to get a brand new mega airport up north sometime before 2022 that should attract more premium passengers travelling on direct long haul flights to Bali.
I will say that you should have tried Garuda’s Japanese menu as well. You had one from the Indonesian menu and one from the International menu. I have to say that Garuda are sooo on point with their food in Business and First Class. I would even say it’s better than Singapore Airlines’ (maybe on par with their Book The Cook service).
I really love how you narrated every single detail in this video. I just wish you recorded your arrival process from disembarkation to being escorted out when arriving in the terminal to your private car. It’s just that I haven’t seen a flight reviewer do that when arriving with Garuda’s First Class in Bali.

I love Garuda, their Business Class product is a solid offering too... My previous flight in business with them they also use proper champagne flutes and served Salmon Billecart which you normally only find in First Class from my experience. They are an amazing airline.

Garuda is a very underrated airline, so glad they are Skyteam and got a great review here. Everyone is always 1000% nice and accommodating from the moment you check in, to when you leave the plane.

The best part about these airline videos is seeing the menu for the flight. I always pick the meal I'd choose and then hope that the author chose the same dish so that I could see how the meal was plated. I'm not a vegetarian, but I noticed that on this flight, there was no vegetarian option. Did Garuda perhaps knows you were not a vegetarian and so only offered perhaps, a menu with no vegetarian option?
While on a project in Jeddah ( pre-Covid), i stayed repeatedly at the hotel Garuda crews use. Five or six nonstops per day from/to Jakarta. Met scores of them. They are w/o doubt among the friendliest and most thoughtful people in travel. Thanks for your video. Rarely do i think of not flying OneWorld, but for Garuda i might make exception.

My God, man. You had 5 or 6 people ready at any moment to help you with everything on this flight, including what ended up being a personal chef.

I have been on it, so I should have remembered, but the train to/from downtown Tokyo and Narita being an hour-long is outrageous! I thought it was quicker than that, but you say so and other online sources agree with you.

I grew up in Indonesia and flew Garuda quite a bit. In November of 2017, I was able to return and flew GA from CGK-HND in Economy class. The service was exceptional. Great video.

Catching up on some of your "older" flights tonight.Amazing seat (as it should be) and that's not just any Champagne ....its Taittinger...right at the top!! Like you I love the way in Japan the ground crew either line up and bow or wave goodbye...very Japanese!! Great take off vision! Good to see an Australian red wine on the list!! 2 years ago I was the only 1st class passenger on an Etihad Airways flight from Paris to Abu Dhabi and after take off the Chef came to my seat and said that as I was the only passenger he was happy top prepare small portions of everything on the main course menu and match it with wines! It was brilliant and I almost needed a wheel chair to get off the aircraft!! Really enjoyed this flight Jeb and I always say enjoy 1st Class...it may never happen again !!
I've flown Garuda once -- HKG to DPS in economy class, but Garuda's staff go out of their way to make the flight experience as nice as it can be. Obviously not first-class nice, but you're right: The five stars are well earned.
I am so happy that you were able to experience this impeccable service! Outstanding report. It just reinforces my belief that if one wants to enjoy cabin service like it used to be years ago, one needs to choose an Asian airline. I have found their flight attendants to be incredibly caring, welcoming and happy providing excellent service. This is in such sharp contrast to American flagged carriers who seem to hire former correctional officers as their flight attendants! I got so tired of the burned out employees who were so put out at having to serve their passengers on USA airlines that I avoid them every chance I get! I really wish the US carriers would try to emulate their Asian counterparts but guess that it must be a cultural thing. Thanks for allowing me to vent! Happy travels and keep up the great work that you are doing! A loyal admirer.

I must say you have documented and presented well. I am entertained to watch it. I flew Garuda since I was very young. I saw a lot of improvement over the past 10 years although I did not say Garuda was bad 30 years ago. Yes there were many people complained in the past but now I am happy to see this bird is loved not only by Indonesians but also non Indonesians. I trust Garuda could beat other 5 star ranking airlines if they consistently improve their service. Anyway, I agree with you. I kind of feel the AVOD is not appealing but I do not know how to improve it. Hoping Garuda could be on the top amongst all airlines in the world.

great job on the review on indonesia's flagship carrier, i always flew garuda since i was a kid, because my dad was a firm believer in the brand. till this day i still fly garuda both domestically and internationally, even on its budget carrier, citilink. i also agree with your take on its weak ife options, its a bummer, but the services and hospitality that the flight attendants give you compensates for the ife, imo. overall, i love your videos and greatly appreciate the reviews you post on your website and on your channel, it helps me decide on what airline to choose for my next trip :). hopefully when the pandemic dies down i hope you'll get the chance to come back to indonesia and review garuda's new cabin, which i still haven't flew on :(

Garuda first class service is absolutely awesome, a lot better than business class especially if you're the only pax in the cabin. Too bad not many route Garuda Indonesia serve the first class cabin. Love the hospitality and warmth of the crew as always. I just flew them from CGK-HND last month and hasn't release the video yet since still new to youtube and learning how to make and edit a good video. Keep posting good flight video Brooks
Hello Jeb, thanks for sharing. I must say the service was second to none. My only "beef" was the sound quality on the video in certain sections. Your voice was drowned out by the plane's engines, but apart from that it was great. I see this video was made 5 years ago. Och weil; better late than never I say. Cheers!
Great video. I would really like to fly one or 2 of the 5 star airlines at some point when I travel back to Asia/Australia/NZ and Garuda was one of those. Nice to see a video featuring them.
Garuda has long been known for the quality of the catering and in flight service on its long hau flights. However timetable consistency has sometimes been erratic. Hence the problems with your flight till tjry were resolved

Just scrolling through your back catalogue, Jeb, and this review caught my eye as I love travelling to Bali (a favourite destination for those of us from Perth). I wasn't going to comment but your observation about walking down the jet walk was so apt. I, too, find that it is the start of my journey along with the anticipation of what lays ahead. Conversely, walking up the jet walk tells me I'm home and I reflect of the trip just gone. :)
