So the flight before has to being the catering for the flight in and flight out. Since you were the first flight out, the catering had to sit overnight. Which means they can't have certain things. And those were pre-covid procedures.

I'm intrigued to see your Airports Revealed segment of Seattle. My dad being a Captain for Alaska has spent much of his career flying in and out of Seattle, and it's certainly one of his least favorite airports. Mostly because of the traffic and long waits for takeoffs, especially around noon. You can end up being 20th or worst in line to takeoff if you don't get out of your gate in time. Or as you experienced, being too early means you might have to wait for a while before you can find a gate. As far as the reasoning for your delay, I might have an answer for that via my dad. The heat in the entire PNW brought temperatures like we had never seen (PDX shattered records three days in a row), and a lot of the ramp workers ended up taking the day off, and I can't say I blame them. However, that led to a serious short staffing of ground crews, so a lot of flights (including ones my dad flew that weekend) were delayed. 21/25 Jeb Score isn't too bad! If I had to guess about the strange RDU-SEA not being viewed as Transcon, it might have to do with the fact that Alaska, like you said, has only one flight a day there. However, Alaska has expressed that over the next few years they're focusing on establishing their routes with more frequency, rather than establishing new routes, so maybe that'll change soon. Hope you enjoyed your time in Alaska and Hawaii. Two of the most beautiful states in the US. Great job as usual Jeb.
@@skyeblue5669if you’re referring to SEA, then maybe you’ve gotten a point. There is PAE to the north however, which is much easier to navigate (even if it has far fewer destination options).
I’m from washington, have used alaska airlines every time. Its such a reliable airliner. Good food, comfortable seats, friendly staff. Who could ask for more??
Thank you for this. I just flew Delta first class from Anchorage to Atlanta 7 hours flight. It was horrible. Entertainment system didn't work, no hot meal on this long flight. Just small bag of chips and other small items. The only thing was the seats went lay flat. Not sure if it's worth the triple cost of economy. I will definitely check out Alaska airlines on my next trip. Appreciate it.
ALL U.S. carriers are bad. And they get away with it because of passengers low expectations and conformity with low levels of service and catering in all classes!
I flew Alaska for the first time last month and really liked that they don't have screens in the back of the seats! I had already downloaded some episodes of a show on my phone. However, given that I wasn't distracted by everybody's screens, I was able to get some reading done too! I want to start flying Alaska more often just for the fact that their cabins are less media-saturated!
It gives me a big warm smile like the one on Alaska tails to know you just came to my town, FAI. I hope you saw all the DC6s and other cool/old/unique planes still operating from FAI. Alaska Airlines needs to update those seats. I have been on their 737NGs with updated seats like the A321s, but apparently there aren't that many. I've flown them a lot, have been MVP Gold for several years. There's rarely any problem with service on Alaska, but when there is, if you report it in "Alaska Listens" post-flight surveys, the company is very good about writing sincere apologies backed with $ credit. Thank you for all your reports, Jeb. You certainly helped get me through the pandemic, but I'll always keep watching your videos.
Your video brought back memories. I lived in Spokane for 13 years and flew out of there many times I also remember the surreal experience of seeing the airport on September 12, 2001, when it was closed, there were planes from such airlines as TWA sitting at the airport that did not have flights into Spokane. I always loved flying into Seattle as it is one of the few places I would see planes from International airlines.
I know I'm commenting late, but this video has me excited! Just popped up on my recommended feed and my mom and I are taking an Alaskan cruise out of Vancouver in September. We are flying from Tampa to Seattle (and onward to Vancouver) via Alaska Airlines in FC as well! Flight time looks only a little longer than your flight (at 6ish hours) so I'm hoping it counts as Transcontinental, otherwise I'll be just as confused I'm sure! Love your videos! They have me so excited to travel myself!
The men and women who work on the airport ramps getting the planes ready regardless if it is for an airline or if you are working for an FBO are the using heroes. I am a ramp agent for an FBO in texas and when the temps are over 100 degrees it is not fun. Please take the time to understand that the people on the ramp getting the plane ready are doing their best to make sure you leave on time every time.
You obviously haven't flow much abroad if you think that! Try a regional short or medium haul flight in Europe, Middle East or Asia flight to experience service and catering better than any long-haul U.S. airlines!
I loved seeing Mount Rainier on a clear day although I don’t believe you actually mentioned it. I do think that is the most spectacular view in the continental United States as far as mountains go. I am very much enjoying your videos since I just got back from Alaska and did the train experience from Anchorage to Denali. Certainly wish we had been able to do the Denali bush plane.
I traveled from Denver to Anchorage via Seattle a few years ago. Man it was the best experience. I felt like I was back in the glory days of aviation. The service was second to none. Our last plane home was a 737-900 the was literally 2 days old. Talk about that new car smell.
Hey, Jeb, great to see you flying again. Regrettably, we in Australia are still locked into our national borders, so it is lovely to share this flight with you. Looking forward to getting back to the USA to hug my son in Memphis. Even a vicarious flight is better than none!
Also, thanks for your good comments towards the people of Alaska Airlines. I flew them quite a bit also, and I can't remember a bad experience... outside of delayed flights. Good job on this point too.
I have flown Alaska AL twice LA to Ankorage, great food and cabin service. On one return flight, se arrived 2 hours early due to a really strong tailwind.
San Diego is a small hub for Alaska so I fly with them pretty frequently, and I don't think I've ever had a bad experience. Very solid airline in every aspect; they'd be my favorite U.S. carrier if they just added seatback IFE screens. Something interesting about Alaska Airlines is they've positioned themselves as basically "the western US airline" and have a big presence at all the major destinations in the western states (including Hawaii). Ironically, San Diego has more flights on Alaska than Southwest Airlines, despite being literally the exact southwestern corner of the country.
Love your videos Jeb! Your enthusiasm is infectious and your videos always show how beautiful the world can be. And I have an irrational phobia of flying but always enjoy your videos!
I stand by Alaska and their in flight entertainment. I have fully played online games on it (sorry everyone else on the flight)! They are my favorite airline, and I agree with the lounge (I’d give it 8/5) and the people! Their employees seem so nice
We flew Alaska from Cincinnati (CVG) to Seattle (SEA?) for our NCL Encore round trip cruise to/from Seattle and loved it. We would certainly fly Alaska again if the itinerary would be available.
I love your channel! I have been feeling a bit locked up lately with COVID and not traveling as much. Thank you for bringing the joy of travel to so many of us during these trying times. Hope to see you on a flight soon!
I work in Alaska and live in Arizona, I fly first class a lot on AK Air. I use them cause my company charters AK Air to fly us from Anchorage to work and we get the miles for those charter flights which is nice and I've come to really enjoy the AK Air miles, for free upgrades, paying for extra tickets, booking hotels, and when reserving hotels etc you get extra miles anywhere from 500 up to the ten thousands depending on the hotel/resort and length of stay but they add up, however of course those miles don't count towards status, but I use those extra miles I get each year from hotels to pay for a flight to Alaska or back or I cash them in on a nice hotel for my wife and I from time to time. The first class in my opinion needs to be updated. I have flown Delta first class and I think they're a lot more comfortable, they offer in flight movies, games and in flight map etc with each seat having a built in screen. And in first class the seats offer foot rests. Ak Air, none of that just a 21" wide seat and about the same leg room as the premium/business seats just a little wider space. But I usually will fly AK Air first class a few times to get double the miles to help get me to gold status before the end of the year. And I'm not a fan of the carton of water. I miss the old Dasani bottles. Oh and i've had more rude and pushy flight attendants on AK Air than Delta. Oh and a guy that has had way to many layovers in Seattle. I can't stand that airport. It's just so packed and busy and hard to get anywhere. Although, I know the airport well so I know of some quicker ways to get from one terminal to another. And on layovers where I'm not rushed sometimes I'll just take a seat on the tram and go in circles for an hour.. As big of an airport as it is, I wish it would offer more "fast food" type places there's McD's and Wendy's now but thats it. It used to have a BK but that's gone now and I remember when I was stationed in Puget, they used to have a Taco Bell too, but who wants to get on a flight after eating Taco Bell. ha.. Just wished they had more, cause most of their sit down restaurants are always full and hard to get a seat. Although, some AK lounges there aren't to bad, My favorite is in C concourse, it's a little smaller, but very comfortable and clean. Sometimes even on a quick layover, if I get off at C I'll run up to the lounge just to use the restroom cause they're clean, and they have better smelling soap, lotions etc. And I'll grab a coffee, soft drink and some snacks on my way out. Another thing I don't like is the cost of the lounges now 450 for MVP and higher that's pretty steep, I thought 350 was high for what they offer.
I also recently flew to Fairbanks on AA. A321 neo from DFW. Also cold food even though the flight was almost 8 hours. Fresh bites was OK but not enough food on a flight of this length even though snack basket was also passed around. Centurion lounge had a 45 min wait to enter. I stormed off. Took the red eye back to O’hare. You are right these domestic recliner’s fall short. The gems of the trip were Denali, whitewater rafting. The drive from Fairbanks to Denali. Loved your mountain pictures.
Took the Coast Starlight from Los Angeles to Seattle, and took Alaska Airlines from SEATAC to Ontario International just before the heatwave in Seattle. My flight back on Alaska Airlines to California had a gate change and was delayed. I only found out by looking at the departure board after having some coffee. Can't beat the comfort of a roomette on Amtrak, but you can't argue that flying into your home base airport is more efficient.
Same. I love Alaska Airlines but unfortunately their route network is pretty limited. Unless I’m going to Alaska or the west coast there’s really no reason for me to fly with them.
Wholeheartedly agree. We have reservations for First Class in August; Chicago-Seattle-Anchorage. Alaska is 1/3 of United (my preferred airline). No brainer!!!
Are you sure Alaska Airlines flies to Alaska? LOL I've flown them from Sacramento to Seattle, from Dallas to Boston, from Denver to Boston, yes those last two meant flying to Seattle first. I was thinking they should have been called Seattle Airlines. Haha. And yes, the service received, even though none of my trips were in First, was top notch!
I remember when about the only place they went is Alaska and the NW. I used to fly to and from work with them for many years. I had jobs where I would make I MVP about half way through the year. In the 1980s there 737s had a gravel kit as the runway at the worksite was gravel.
i’m pretty sure alaska airlines hq was originally in anchorage, alaska but changed to seattle because it’s such a bigger hub. like whenever i fly out of anchorage i usually go to seattle
@@duckygoesquackquack848 Yes it was in Anchorage. I remember that they moved but don’t remember the year. There were people that said why call yourselves Alaska Airlines when you’re not based here. My thoughts are less people live here if they aren’t based here. Same thing with out of state workers. There kids aren’t in our schools.
I certainly enjoyed Alaska Airlines on my flights to Hawaii. Their flight attendants were really friendly, humorous and made it a nice, comfy trip. Alaska Airlines certainly has pleasant customer service.
I rode on Alaska airlines in 1986. My husband was military.and being station in Alask. I was traveling with 2 small children. The military paid for the flight. The flight attendants were very helpful. I don't remember too muc but we really enjoyed Alaska.
Nicely done as always. When I go stateside (I’m Australian), it’s either AA, Alaska or SouthWest. Alaskan has always had fantastic service. Including a fun Portland to LA flight on a 737-900 with 18 passengers.
I miss commuting out of that airport so much. It was the best to get in and out of almost every single day. I flew for a Delta regional and commuted from RDU to LGA, JFK, DTW and MSP for years and it was always pretty good.
The airport dimmed their windows to save energy, but made it hard for Jeb to take pictures, that's okay, the airport is within their rights to save on their electric bills. The seat doesn't have a built-in screen, so he can't do work and have a movie running at the same time, oh well, that's just a first world problem. Jeb is so understanding. Then I saw the PP Aquanaut on Jeb's wrist...nice....he deserves it! Another great video!
Been watching off and on, and just now heard your home airport is GSO. I went to High Point. Fond memories of being able to show up for a flight 40 minutes ahead of time because of good ole GSO. Miss that airport.
Seeing SEA like that is amazing.....I flew out of there about a year ago and you could hear a pin drop in there........Literally every shop/restaurant/bar in the airport was closed except for that central food court and a few Hudson News places
I took Alaska Airlines to Ketchikan in July 21..and completely spoiled. Most of my trip was premium seats which was more than adequate. The flight staff was awesome and very accommodating. Plane was clean flight uneventful. Flying from Philly to Ketchikan meant 2 flights going 2 flights coming home. Realize this is a 1st class video, but had to comment how awesome this airline and all the staff are. Would definitely fly Alaska again.
Great video Jeb! I used to work at Alaska at RDU pre-pandemic and when you filmed the pushback and check-in I saw some familiar faces who I used to work with. Got to do many things as a ramp agent there. It is contracted by trego-dugan aviation at Raleigh. It was very fun but I had to move to the GSO area for college!
We recently flew first round trip to Anchorage from central NY (American Airlines) and vlogged the experience. Indeed it was and is epic to travel that way. Thanks for the share!
Crazy how I watch your Seattle videos because of my love for Seattle and I learn that your mom lives in the town where my family is also from, Tazwell VA! We have a family reunion there this Saturday!
Don't stray to far from you rail experiences... they are so fun to watch. I have a hard time thinking about airline flights today. I did so many of them, for many years, I become sort of immune to anything involved in it. Not the places I visited, but the travel. I had some great first class upgrades, but I'd fall asleep mostly. I did 250K miles in my biggest year, and 40 days consecutive on the road. I love your posts though Jeb. I hope you do every form of travel, maybe even donkey into the Himalayas or something... just kidding, but actually not. You can make any experience fun. BTW... beautiful footage.
Love your videos, Jeb! By definition, transcon is coastal city to coastal city - RDU is too far inland for an airline to market it as a premium service route.. I’d be more interested, though I think I know the reason, in why DL is marketing SEA as a premium origin/destination when they don’t even market ATL as a domestic premium base (again, too far inland.)
I had my first flight on Alaska in 1973, and fell in love then. Now that I live near Portland, OR, if Alaska doesn't fly there, I don't need to go there!❤❤
I fly first class Alaska San Diego to Austin regularly. Best domestic first class; best service of all! I think the food is a 4.5! Best coffee--Starbucks, too! There were severe thunder storms one night in Austin so flight was delayed. Best communication with passengers of any airline, and I've flown United. All personnel is interested in making your experience the best it can be.
I think they exclude Raleigh to Seattle from the Transcontinental definition because Raleigh is too small of a market. "Transcon" ends up meaning east coast major market to west coast major market.
I couldn’t find a video on this but if you take suggestions I would suggest a East to west coast flight that is in-between countries. Such as Vancouver to New York. Also I love your videos!
Nice to see AS changed the RDU-SEA flight to a morning run. The inbound used to arrive about 3:30 switch crews and depart about 5. The current schedule is much better for connections beyond SEA. The 3 legecy carriers and AS all run at least 1 west coast flight from RDU and I don't believe any of them treat it as transcon. Unless its because RDU is 150 miles from the ocean I could'nt tell you why.

I have NEVER liked SEATTLE airport.. Workers are very RUDE they seem to be UNEDUCATED in my opinion..🛫✈
@@skyeblue5669if you’re referring to SEA, then maybe you’ve gotten a point. There is PAE to the north however, which is much easier to navigate (even if it has far fewer destination options).
@@jwil4286 .. Yes, SEA ..First Class lounge has descent food but the Baggage people suck..
"Cold eggs anywhere...are challenging". Best line in the whole video. :)
Flying AS103 to HNL tomorrow morning! I’m excited! Hopefully you guys are still there (probably not) but hope you had a great time!
2:16 Am I the only one got excited on the F1 free practice running in the background?
Lol same, I was looking for someone who noticed
Jeb is so pleasant. His mom must be proud
Dude I love living in Washington state I feel it's one of the most beautiful places in the US
Ikr its so nice here in tacoma
@@thtrevor hell yeah it is
Because it is. I miss living in Seattle
Flying Alaska doesn't feel like flying in the US, it's an extraordinary experience even in economy class!
agreed!
I am glad you feel that way 🤗
You obviously haven't flow much abroad if you think that! Try a regional short or medium haul flight in Europe, Middle East or Asia flight to experience service and catering better than any long-haul U.S. airlines!
@@guytellitstrait4504 Obviously I have, been to every continent possible
Produced right there in Seattle no less (the plane was)!
Hey, Jeb, great to see you flying again. Regrettably, we in Australia are still locked into our national borders, so it is lovely to share this flight with you. Looking forward to getting back to the USA to hug my son in Memphis. Even a vicarious flight is better than none!
I’m Alaskan! We love you Cheechakos (tourist/guests)! So glad you were able to see the beauty of the last frontier from the sky! Breath taking!
Also, thanks for your good comments towards the people of Alaska Airlines. I flew them quite a bit also, and I can't remember a bad experience... outside of delayed flights. Good job on this point too.
He really trade marked “Jeb Score”? 😂
You caught my joke! 🤣
I saw it too
Paging Mr. DeMuro, Mr. Doug DeMuro, your attorney is waiting for you...
Gotta get ahead of Jeb Bush's next campaign!

I lived at Fairbanks Alaska. For 4 years Never will I forget that trip
Alaska was so beautiful and the the lifestyle was amazing.
The absolute best airline company out there. My opinion.
I love your channel! I have been feeling a bit locked up lately with COVID and not traveling as much. Thank you for bringing the joy of travel to so many of us during these trying times. Hope to see you on a flight soon!
That Salmon plane was wild. Loved the design...
I wish you would do the milk run since you went all the way there!
I have a pretty big fear of flying I’m trying to get over and your videos are so helpful in reminding me the fun of flying. Thank you!
I went to Bellingham Washington July 4 weekend flew first class Alaska airlines I agree with you great crew always so nice. Thanks for your review
This guy is so underrated❤ he deserves more
Really appreciate your unbiased ‘experienced’ based reviews and informative travel videos, thank you.
I love the blue lighting in the Alaskan cabins it is so relaxing.
My wife and I are flying first class for the first time ever in a few months from Indy to Seattle on Alaska Airlines. We cannot wait!
Alaska airlines has always treated me well.. to bad I dont fly them much
Same. I love Alaska Airlines but unfortunately their route network is pretty limited. Unless I’m going to Alaska or the west coast there’s really no reason for me to fly with them.
Too bad I live in Tacoma so its alaskas biggest hub
You gotta get to Juneau and fly Alaska seaplanes!!! If you head this way let me know I’d gladly get you a tour around!
I was thinking the same about Kenmore Air out of Seattle's Lake Union to Friday Harbor. That would be a fun Jeb adventure.
@@aptadpamu think he’s done one with another company down there, but seaplanes up here in Juneau has WAYYY better views
Hi jeb my name is jose I love watching your videos I leave in Raleigh NC what's your favorite airline
Love flying Alaska. It has never disappointed!
Wholeheartedly agree. We have reservations for First Class in August; Chicago-Seattle-Anchorage. Alaska is 1/3 of United (my preferred airline). No brainer!!!
I only travel with my cell so I wish they had kept the screen in the seat backs too! Thanks for all the info!!!!
Seattle weather never disappoints😊.
Yes if you live in Alaska you usually have to fly to Seattle to get anywhere
alaska airlines headquarters is in seattle so that's probably why
Those snowy mountains look amazing! It’s just boring and flat farmland here in Illinois
I watch you all the time.. my grandparents had a farm in Burkes Garden and my mom was also from Tazewell. Small world.
I like to revisit your videos. Since I lived in Alaska and we flew to Seattle to yard sale, I loved Alaskan Airlines.
I would love to see more of your destination. Just some sights you visited around the area. Love your commentary.
I was waiting for this, I love Alaska
We recently flew first round trip to Anchorage from central NY (American Airlines) and vlogged the experience. Indeed it was and is epic to travel that way. Thanks for the share!
Crazy how I watch your Seattle videos because of my love for Seattle and I learn that your mom lives in the town where my family is also from, Tazwell VA! We have a family reunion there this Saturday!
Alaska is my favorite to fly when on the west coast or even down to Belize. Love it.
I’m from Fairbanks and always fly Alaska Airlines. I liked watching your point of view
Honestly going to miss that classic Alaska Airlines bulkhead design. It’s so nostalgic but has an eclectic feel that not many airlines have today.
Lol, I was literally just flying Alaska airlines in my simulator and your notification popped up!

Having done the trip from my hometown airport (TUS) to Sea-Tac, I'm only ever going to fly Alaska for it! Every trip has been an absolute pleasure.
I have flow AK Airlines numerous times, including first class. Top notch airline, they have come a long way, considering their history.
I live in Seattle and love Alaska airlines. its the only one I use.
Now that I live near Portland, OR, if Alaska doesn't fly there, I don't need to go there!❤❤
A very nice journey! I really love watching travel videos...it helps when I can't travel myself...thanks for the video!
Smaller airports with limited Alaskan presence or the same case with any airline means reduced food options
Jeb hasn’t made one, but another channel called Vicarious Voyager has made a video on the former Cathay Pacific service from YVR to JFK
@@JoshDoesTravel alright I’ll have to look at that and thanks
Nice to see AS changed the RDU-SEA flight to a morning run. The inbound used to arrive about 3:30 switch crews and depart about 5. The current schedule is much better for connections beyond SEA. The 3 legecy carriers and AS all run at least 1 west coast flight from RDU and I don't believe any of them treat it as transcon. Unless its because RDU is 150 miles from the ocean I could'nt tell you why.
