There need to be a big sign that says this is a taxi stand or change the design of the roof!

May they go up the lorry.
It is time to stop building shelters that are lower than doubled decker buses over the roads.
A simpler solution than asking drivers to take note and avoid those overhanging roofs.
This is just an accident that is waiting to happen.

i have seen myself, the trucks always park there doing unloading at the ntuc supermarket...they sometimes use the ramps to push heavy loads....there must be a root cause and needs investigation

True. Because I saw this kind of accident last time which involves a Go-Ahead Singapore Bus(double deck) crashing into the shelter

I guess the way forward is to make the taxi stand of the same 4.5m height limit to prevent such incidents from reoccurring.
We need more FTs to be familiar with Singapore bus lanes, Singapore road safety and speak Singapore lingua franca or the very least be able to read English road signs when working in the Public Services.

If you have not failed your N & O level English listening examination you should be hear clearly that 63years old driver was taken into the hospital .which means the driver might be local uncle Lah ! Siao ehhhh....
This is the 2nd time! First in 2017 with Go-Ahead, now 2021 with TT-S. May the BCs be more trained
1. Why did Bus driver (SC or SPR ?) entered Taxi Stand road lane when the Bus Stand is actually 100m away ? This warrant investigations
2. Taxi Stand structure collapsed upon impact. Distinct new Taxi Stand design must be installed to avoid mixed up for Bus or Taxi drivers & passengers. I've been confused myself when travelling to a unfamiliar part of the island
3. Clear & big road markings for Taxi Stand in red or blue or yellow for Taxis Only !

3. Take a Shuttle Bus if NOT within walking distance
4. Take 🚕 Taxi due to time constraint

Now a days the road and bus under maintenance a lot of vibrations. Not sure if this will cause the drivers to feel giddy after long hours.
Apologize also no use got to pay for all the damages.most of the bus captain are not train to speak English they are desperate of drivers to the extend that cannot train the prc to speak English.
Ya beach road can misinterpreted to orchard road lol although drivers using same road every day but dunno mrt stations name when pax asked .. mgt should responsible for training every mth on road names to foreigners especially those who can't speak English tku

In my opinion, could it be a defective design waiting for such incident to happen. If this is so, why suspend the bus driver? Are there proper design to deter such incident? Good if the relevant authority can look into other locations with similar design and avoid suspending another bus driver for similar incident.

As a designer, you would never expect a double deck bus hit a taxi stand, that’s why no need to design taxi shelter for 4.5m height

Another LTA accident creation issue ??!! Who was the LTA idiots that designed and approved the low level taxi shelter just in front of the Double decker bustop ??? If LTA can't explain why got such lousy shelter and review all other bustops shelter , then this may happen to others locations.

And its so dangerous ,only time matters when it ll happened .

Maybe the driver has been suspended pending an investigation. Hopefully, the investigation will show that it is the fault of the design/designer.
That will depends on few socioeconomic factors. Not purely on driver's innocence.

Human error. Bus driver was blind and blur for that few seconds. Why have eyes and 6 senses and where was his alertness ?Can a blind man be a bus driver ?
Plain human error can also create a war ,divorce ,rape ,
murder, scam and many more. If there is a big hole on the road and in front of you ,do you want to drop into the hole unless you are a blind man.
Take responsibilty at home and the moment you leave your house.
If cyclist inside vehicle can maneuver this can never happen unless 3 choose the control of same direction?
If taxi are secretly assassin chasing $1m, targets somehow should just be able to let bypass the stress of fixing "for it to be late", from someone that can drive(if story of some really taking salary as cyclist inside)? By common sense a vehicle can be used for a long time anyway maybe the lots of payment(displayed one, or it's actually different price unless at target) is the years to cycle inside?

Many bus drivers are Malaysians working in SG. They have a history of abusing substances like Ecstasy in the past. This causes permanent brain damage. That explains the sudden and inexplicable weird actions and loss of control by some bus/truck drivers in SG.
This is just one in a series of strange accidents over the years.

I am surprised that they did not use an "expert" from India to make an input about this. Lately it is as if there are no other "experts" in all fields except from a certain country!! All other races/ nationalities have no "experts" except these guys. They pushing aside even qualified Singaporeans to promote these "experts" from this particular country.
