The problem with shoppe is it's very difficult to return defective items for refund. ,,, therefore I'll order in Lazada first and others before looking at shoppe last.
Honestly Shopee it's the tackiest e-commerce, so messy user interface, cannot replace Indonesia's original "Tokopedia" which still considered as classy for its reliability and no clutter UI. After watching this video, I'm surprised that the company didn't go well in his own country while pretty much still remain strong at overseas. Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, brunei.
It was shaky here in Indonesia as well, it's just something that happened (or maybe still happening, idk) behind the scene. Massive layoffs, workers being moved from Jakarta to a much smaller city with smaller payment (like Solo), etc
I'm in Thailand and I go with either Shopee or Lazada depending on the prices and shipping promotions. I don't know why they would need so many employees or so many repeating RUclips ads. Just not money well spent. Better cut costs and give both sellers and buyers good deals and convenience. Improve efficiency in logistics and stuff that matters.
Like I've seen so many general Shopee ads on RUclips. But Lazada will focus on special events and promotions. And Lazada gives free shipping codes every day while Shopee is a bit stingy on that. Once Lazada has acquired new customers they have a better way of keeping the customers engaged and enticing them to buy more items as opposed to Shopee.
It's a shock to me that they're having a hard time keeping their footing in Singapore, when Shopee has a chokehold on Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines and Indonesia. Shopee and Lazada in the Philippines are practically neck and neck, and the fact they can even compete with Tokopedia in Indonesia is huge considering how massive Tokopedia is. I think Singapore's market in general is also quite self limiting because of the size of Singapore's consumer base. But this now explains why I lot of Singaporean shopee employees are being expatriated now to the Philippines.
Shopee is China-owned, only registered in Singapore. Same for Shein, TikTok, they are all China companies based in Singapore. The reason: to white-wash the brands' image, something like brand-laundering
It's Amazon. When my sister lived in SG, she used Amazon almost exclusively, whereas here in the Philippines I use Lazada mainly and Shopee as backup. I can't use Amazon because no Philippine merchants sell on Amazon. I'd have to connect to the US Amazon, which means hella import taxes.
If you live here maybe you'd understand. We're lucky because we're very well connected and shopee is really more for the older folk with their gimmicks and fake products.
They expanded too fast, so investor sentiment got too bullish. But they failed to get enough market share in some countries, that was what burst the bubble. But the fact is that it is still very popular in some markets, very competitive among competitors in those markets, and highly used.
Easy credit and near 0% interest rates lead to bad investments and wasteful investments. When credit is more realistic, people have to be more judicious and careful how they allocate limited resources. So instead of focusing where the company is strong- Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, etc- they had all these useless expansions into EU and Latin America, where the environment is very different. "If you build it, they will come." Squandered a lot of resources.
Having lived in Singapore for a couple years, I can say that In these uncertain times, it's more important than ever to have a solid understanding of how to manage your finances, invest wisely and navigate economic downturns. But my primary concern is how to grow my reserve of $240k which has been sitting duck since forever with zero to no gains, sure I'm all in on the long term game, but with my savings are lying waste to inflation and my portfolio losing gains everyday, I need a remedy.
If you need advice, consider speaking with a financial advisor. Don't get me wrong, you can do it on your own, but financial advisors have a lot more knowledge and expertise in this area.
You are completely right, Advisors have information and paths that are not disclosed to the public.. I profited £560k in 2023 under the tutelage of my Fiduciary-counselor. Am I selling? Absolutely not.. I am going to sit back and observe how this all plays out.
Rebecca Lynne Buie is the licensed coach I use. Just research the name. You'd find necessary details to work with a correspondence to set up an appointment.
Stock market is a bullish concept it Does'nt determine how big the company is. As a shopee user my order this year is approx. 200 parcel. I always ask shopee rider how many parcel you got everyday, they said that they deliver almost 100 parcel everyday. In my area there is 10 rider alone. Shopee voucher and free shipping is 10x better than lazada. Everytime I open lazada website i gives me headache the UI is not user friendly.
Indonesian here, we're still divided with shopee and Tokopedia. But the general consensus is that shopee is for cheap stuff that is easily replace able like cute accessories, phone cases, etc. While Tokopedia is for big purchases like electronics. Also a lot of ppl agree thay the vibe shopee gives is like a traditional market while tokopedia is like a mall. Also tokopedia merged with gojek (our biggest ride sharing app) and has the integration with gopay (our main ewallet), and now integration with tiktokshop as tiktokshop was banned from our country but then revived but the listing goes in tokopedia
@@Anuitu2u Spot on. I used to have arguments with my (ex) GF about which is better online shop. She was into shopee. She watches live feed, collect coins, etc. I get my stuffs from Tokopedia, coz Gopay.
Worst part of Shopee for me is their fake shipping prices (always higher when you actually order) , and now they're being prudish about what they sell. I find myself going back to Lazada.
It become worst when they open their own bank (SEA Bank). In Indonesia if you want free delivery voucher you need to pay using SEA Bank account. Their E-Wallet is pretty much useless
Shopee is still competitive right now, well, at least in the Philippines. They're neck and neck with Lazada when it comes to mobile and web e-commerce competition. However, Sea's gaming arm Garena has its presence here wiped out to the point that their once-touted modern offices here in Manila were shut down, and localized versions of games such as Arena of Valor, Point Blank, and League of Legends either closed down or returned their publishing rights to the game's developers.
Shopee Malaysia slowly implement scummy business tricks. One of it is the item discount '50% off' but capped the discount at RM5 with minimum spend of RM200 You have to really read between the lines about their terms & condition which is a small text hidden when scrolling
Yes, read carefully the voucher T&C. Also, sometimes it could be quite beneficial; For example, using 88% discount but capped at RM5 with RM1 min. spend, and paired it up with free shipping voucher, I could buy things that is originally RM5.68 + RM4.90 (shipping cost) for only RM0.68. I could pair this two voucher because the former is shop voucher while the latter is shopee voucher.
In the Philippines Shopee is inundated with fake Chinese accounts that sell scummy products and imitations. They should vet or filter these out if they want to improve their service.
Shopee is China-owned, only registered in Singapore. Same for Shein, TikTok, they are all China companies based in Singapore. The reason: to white-wash the brands' image, something like brand-laundering
One give away is if the account name are just a bunch of random numbers and letters. Another is if they have too much products, the product name are Chinese, prices are higher than normal or super duper cheap, and sometimes its 30 days pre-order. I once got an item with a return address to China but in their shopee page its just somewhere in Manila
It's still going strong in Indonesia too. But as the video told, a new player has joined the game. And it has gained steam ahead so much so that Indonesian government (I don't know who lobbied them🙄) banned Tik Tok shopping for various regulatory reasons.
Living in Singapore, I'm always divide between Shopee and Lazada. Shopee for more consistant quality, delivery time also quite good and for Lazada quality can ranging from very good deal to scam or very bad quality product. But Lazada definitely have more range of obscure product and more option.
In the Philippines, shopee reviews are pretty lazy, sometimes it feels like bots wrote the review and leave random videos and photos unrelated to the product, the opposite for lazada. However shopee has more obscure product options while Lazada has far more quality options. In terms of full transparency of what the shops/ sellers are selling and the product you receive is pretty much 50/50. You have to rely on your own intuition whether or not to trust a shop by either their seller rating or the reviews you see on the product page, both unreliable as I've mentioned before, some or maybe most reviews on the product page are random non-sense left by reviewers while giving the product a high rating, definitely skewing the seller rating's trustworthiness.
Don't know why but Lazada ceased to exist in Vietnam, I heard that Lazada stopped updating for Vietnam and users just stopped using it. Shopee also has Shopee Foods which is a very good food delivery app.
We live in Bangkok and our shopping experience on Shoppe have not been pleasant at all. Every time we wanted to use a voucher it was not available. Every time we wanted to use their free shipping promotion it was not available. The suppliers in Shoppe are exactly the same as those in Lazada, and Lazada has served our needs since Day 1 in Thailand. Shoppe is simply not our cup of tea. Sorry.
@@Genotypic-and-Genes true, I'm Vietnamese and people here absolutely love Shopee, me and my mother love Lazada though, the UI is so much better and the quality is above average with trusted sellers. Though I admit that Shoppe is better for specific products that cater to the K-pop scene, I can't find Kiss of Life albums for the love of my life on Lazada 😭
Growing in the Philippines? lol it's literally dying. Their corrupt and greedy practices are way too much, so much that their competition (Lazada) looks like an angel in comparison. I remember the time when you can use discount coupons, free shipping coupons, and coin deductions all at the same time. It started going downhill when they started to put an "expiration" to the coins earned for every purchase, then they slowly capped the "free" shipping vouchers from 199 pesos to 50 pesos so it's literally more like a shipping voucher now, and lastly Shopee removed the option of using multiple vouchers at the same time entirely. People have to choose whether to apply a shipping discount voucher, item discount voucher, or cashback voucher. They have grown way too fucking greedy Lazada on the other hand allows you to use multiple vouchers AS THEY ALWAYS DID, have a MUCH LOWER delivery fees, better customer service when it comes to returns, gives you coins cashback for every purchase.
I'm in the Philippines - it's between Shopee and Lazada here. Lazada have always had better customer service, with Shopee it takes hours to solve (or give up on solving) even the most minor of problems. The other big problem is the prevalence of scams and that Shopee will not take any action even when alerted of scam sellers.
It's the opposite in Vietnam, Lazada e-commerce has so many scammers, it seems like they don't even check the authentication of the seller. But I agree with the customer service part
Shopee customer support for buyers is horrible. When I got scammed, they told me they won't refund me and I had to wait 3 months for the seller to dispute my claim. This was after I sent them pics of the junks(sheets of paper) the seller sent me. I read online that many other buyers experienced the same in that they take side with the sellers rather than people who pay. 😖
Am so sorry. And holy shit, I completely agree regarding they take side with the sellers rather than people who pay. But at the end of the day, ecommerce and internet is a necessity and most of us need to sell our soul. Similar to Apple products, we can talk shit about them, but we need them.
Mine request for refund was rejected initially, another customer service officer who took up my second refund request managed to resolve it. Had to submit photos and ask them to check the chat between the seller and me. Real pain in the butt. Cant find option to blacklist the company.
Yes Shopee nowadays always side the seller even they send something which looks similar but it isn’t usable and actually totally useless. Twice I had to endure this rubbish. Their customer service rep are either blind or totally dumb even though I support the refund request with videos and photos of the products what it should be and what I received. 🤬
@@Caver82 I absolutely hate Shopee customer support. I got scammed with an item that was a fake product and they always take seller side. If you're a buyer and you want a refund, you will go through hell and alot of inconvenience.

That is true, Expert Mrs Ava Kimberly is indeed a professional who is good at what she does. I don't panic when trading Bitcoin with Expert Mrs Ava Kimberly, many people have become great through her platform.,
It's easy to order goods from Shoppe, but extremely difficult to seek a refund for having received a wrong product. That's sufficient to stop orders from me and my family members.
Indeed. Boycotted them several years back after they refused to honour a refund request for an obviously different product than advertised. Jumped through all the hoops they gave me, taking photos and videos and whatnot, and they just refused to do anything afterwards.
RUclips algorithm brought me to this video and I like it! Your explanation is easy to digest while keeping jokes here and there. Your in-depth knowledge about the topic is apparent, with an intimate approach that really hits home - which I think every South East Asian can agree with.
I've always preferred Lazada over Shopee. The quality of experience when shopping with Lazada feels miles ahead from Shopee. Even though Shopee is still going strong here is the Philippines, more and more of people I know are slowly switching over.
true. when he said shopee "invested" in logistic that felt like a lie. I use both shopee and lazada but shopee is always so slow to deliver. both of the mobile apps are bad too. so I prefer using a pc to buy stuff.
I do agree with you; but it's also important to know that if any corp becomes the only player in the market, it can decide to become the next shopee and users will have no where to switch to.
More like switching back. I know people who favored Shopee for a while because of their initial free shipping offers, but they're finding that those offers have changed and it wasn't worth sticking with Shopee anymore. So, they're returning to Lazada.
Lazada doesn't stand chance in Indonesia, and Shopee does but I don't think they make profit considering they have many promotion, cashback and freeshipping
As a businessman in 4 SEA Countries i would confirm that Shopee is competing closely with Lazada, except for Indonesia. because they have their local Tokopedia. But in their case Tokopedia seems to be buried in the near time after their reserve fund got burned. so much for that TikTok Shop partnerships. 😂
As an Indonesian, seeing comments from other SEA countries saying their biggest e-commerces is either Shopee or Lazada is interesting. Lazada is practically dead in Indonesia, you either choose Shopee or Tokopedia. If you ask the general public, most of them will probably choose Tokopedia for buying things with high value or price as well as anything electronic related while Shopee for cheap things and household items.
Man, one of the best youtuber i've seen in a long time, I watched till the end, which I rarely do these days. Keep up the good work, and thanks for the video. My time spent was worth it.
Shopee s return policy is stupid tbh. Customer's are not protected buying from them. they should learn from Lazada s robust return policy. I like shopee s discounts though
Opposite to me I quit using lazada after bad experience of refund. My shopee order is at 200 parcel this year all refund that I made was all successful.
amazing documentary content, especially from Singapore where practically no one makes this content. thank you for your work and can't wait to see what else you release!
Not surprising, because in Indonesia, Shopee overspent in advertisements and discounts and promotional events. Whatever the excuses, no businesses - including startups - will survive in the long-run when they fail in making money. Then I think the qualities of the merchandises and the merchants are also sometimes questionable, and this made me buy stuffs online at Shopee only if there's no other alternatives.
The greatest downfall for these Chinese companies is the fact they tend to hire their own people for strategic roles. Hence many such companies cannot expand and do well overseas, unlike other MNCs where they think global hire local. TikTok is now helmed by a Singaporean so that definitely helps to curb such practices. But if the current CEO is replaced by a Chinese, then I think make no difference.
In Indonesia, I believe Shopee is also hit by INDONESIAN POLICY of no-foreign-goods-allowed. It started a few months ago, when many offline clothes sellers complained to Indoensian government that their sale drops all-time low because of TIK TOK online shop. Indonesia then worked fast to annihilate Tiktok shop. But others ecommerce falls victims. For example, AliExpress in China is now FORBIDDEN to send goods directly to Indonesia. Shopee Indonesia is also banned from including Chinese sellers.
Hi Chun Weng, have been following your channel since the Axie Infinity days. Kudos on the James Jani-Dagogo style of video editing approach, always enjoy watching these type of informative videos. I think you've nailed it ! Keep it going :D
Shopee will fare better if they move up the scale, increasing the margin by diversifying into private label or supporting more influencers in brand development to increase brand equity. Focus on growing low hanging fruits instead of planting trees everywhere.
Honestly Shopee it's the tackiest e-commerce, so messy user interface, cannot replace Indonesia's original "Tokopedia" which still considered as classy for its reliability and no clutter UI. Lastly please speak proper English with proper accent. Seriously Malaysian + Singaporean English sounds as annoying as Indian.
Thank you for producing the content. Very well delivered and you explain the dynamics of marketplace, evaluation, technology, SEA culture and people in a great way. Easy to understand and relate to. Keep it up mate. 👍💪
Nah at least it is the most popular shopping app in Thailand. I do like it more than Aliexpress and Lazada mainly because of friendlyuser interface and promotion code is easy to use.
shope may not be earning much but their price is still the lowest of all here in PH, tried browsing in Aliexpress the shipping fee was the same as the item if not higher. Lazada is 2nd place here but when I use it, results are so random and has too much "featured" or "sponsored" ads
Shopee is actually the most dominant online store in the Philippines, to a point that some people thought it's locally owned. The only competitor is has is Lazada, which ironically came first but is struggling for a 2nd place ever since Shopee had stabilized. I don't see Shopee going down the drain if on other countries it's dominating way too good for the consumers.
Just another app that has lower price items and lesser freight fee can overcome shopee. From its UI, and shopee experience aside from buying is pretty mid
@@lordlopikong6940 and that is yet to be contended. For now, Shopee's search engine and product recommendation is currently unrivaled, which heavily puts Lazada to shame on that very category.
Subscribed! Look forward to more content like this from you. Interested to have more similar stories with a SE Asia/Asia angle. Was quite surprised this is the first one like this you have done. Looked very well executed, and like a seasoned video content creator
True I still preferred Shoppee than Tiktokshop & Lazada. Shoppee is giving me a great discounts and a lot of free shipping vouchers, tiktokshop is the worst for me shipping isn't free and expensive here in Mindanao. Lazada app is very confusing I don't like it very difficult to navigate. Shoppee for the win at least in Mindanao.
Been trying to get info on Singapore for a long time...amazing insights...do more on Singaporean companies. Love the pho joke...nice one...been learning Vietnamese so that hit home....😂...
Thumbs up for the well-thought video. It's a well-layered and spot-on analysis video, that kept me throughout till the end of the video. Wish you can do more for other companies. Even more if you can for companies, which can be potential gems! :)
I can probably make a full-on review on how good this video is. This is probably the first random 20-min vid I watched that made me immediately subscribe to the creator.
Dude, this SEA review blew my mind! Seriously, you had me hooked the whole time. Now, I'm dying to see your take on the biotech rivals like Moderna, Novavax, and Inovio. Think you can hook a fellow science nerd up with your POV on those too?

Thanks for this interesting information. Surprised they went through a rough time. But still, I love shopping in Shopee and their similar item recommendations are on point and no hidden fees, and very straight forward. Just my personal experience.
awesome awesome video! its rare to see video essays talking about southeast asian economy so im so glad i saw this video on my explore page! hope to see more content like this in the future! perhaps talking about e-wallets next?
You cannot be successful when the customer service is constantly siding with the seller. I once bought T5 lamp tubes from Shopee because it is hard to find old style T5 lamptubes elsewhere. It was delivered broken. With glass shards all over the floor when i opened them. Took me a while to clean. I asked for a refund. Showed them photographs. Seller asked me to return. How do I return broken pieces of glass? I appealed to Shopee, Shopee sided with the seller. No refund. Hence no more buying from Shopee.
Could be fault of delivery company rather than seller. Seller not likely to pack broken glass for delivery. So if you are seller, you will not want to bear the cost too.
@@mocky126 Not true! I bought wine glasses from Lazada and received the merchandise fully secure and intact. If the sellers don't take steps required to protect the buyers who pay them good money, then they shouldn't sell online.
I think the title is misleading; Shopee didn't 'fall'. It still operates in SG today and has a large market share in the ecommerce industry. Singaporeans use it much more than they do other platforms like Amazon or Lazada, and as many of the comments point out, it's still hugely popular in many of the SEA countries. Sea Group even closed 2023 profitable. While you may argue that Tiktok shop is catching up quickly, it would be disingenuous to characterise Shopee as a failing platform, as many here seem to infer from your video. Granted their stock price has tanked, it was more a result of a correction of an overinflated valuation following a speculative run-up in the post-covid bull run.
damn this one hell of fine documentary.. the storytelling, the story flow, the planning, you know where to slow down a bit and you know where to drop the bomb.. keep it up bro..
Solid video. We can see that you did a lot of research to make this video. The way you manage to present all of this information through a great story telling is amazing. It make it easy and fun to watch. Great job 🔥👌🏻
My community in Malaysia got a sour taste towards Shopee due to its large sum and repetitive ads. Imagine walking in public and you keep hearing it, it drove everyone mad
Vietnamese here, Shopee is still very much relevant in Vietnam and basically the largest e-comerence store in VN. Other than Shopee I could only think of on top of my head is Tiktok shop or Facebook lives but I'm sure it's not any close to Shopee. Shopping experience as an average consumer which buys stuff every now and then off Shopee has been great, there are lots of vouchers and promotions every month, sometimes the actual final price + shipping is lower than the actual product price. I have never once not received my package or I've been sent the wrong item, contacting shops and returning them is very easy.
Shopee is crap compared to Taobao in terms protecting their users. On Taobao you have mostly 7day return policy but nothing like that on Shopee. This helps sellers of fake stuff on Shopee. Shame on Shopee.
I saw a psychiatrist for some anxiety symptoms. She offered me the most comforting words I could have heard: This isn't the first time I've heard someone asking for help from a mental health professional mention working at shopee. And it won't be the last.
To sum it up: They offer a big bold 50% OFF shipping cost (maximum 1.5$). So when you think you only need to pay 5$ instead of 10$ shipping, you've got to pay 8.5$ actually.
Shopee is probably the largest e-commerce platform in Brazil rn, but some others with better services/products are a close second. They just can’t match the Shopee prices
From what I've heard from rumblings is that the local office of Shopee in the Philippines had some massive layoffs of admin, the only one right now with assured job security are the IT people.
Let me correct this: the layoffs happened late 2022 to prevent any drastic losses coming from the end of the pandemic. This effectively ensured the company achieved self sufficiency as early as mid 2023. No layoffs in shopee ph 2024 and currently have been aggressive with hiring for new positions. Not like its competitors lazada and tiktok who are doing the layoffs now. :)
Saw myself on this video. Yes, I was an ex Shopee handling new market accounts. Kinda predicted this will happen because of their aggressive expansion but targets were never met. Management became toxic, resigned before it hit the bottom.
Shopee's customer service in the Philippines are the worst. Their own delivery service, SPX Express is taking a lot of time to deliver the parcel, causing for the customers not to accept the item and asking for refund. Because of that, more sellers are not earning.
Shopee is the powerhouse here in Vietnam. I live in an apartment complex with 11 buildings, 2 years ago I had 1 shipper (deliveryman), 1 years ago there were 2 shippers, and now there are 3 of them to deliver the huge amount of things everyday. They are just from one of many delivery partners of Shopee. It’s so crazy to think about how many things we click and buy…
I miss the old Lazada and Shopee sales, when sellers were actually able to sell products as much as 50% off or even lower, and it's nowhere like right now where only the cheapest products are being sold at 15-20% off, back in 2016-2018 I was able to buy my tablet monitor at 40% off, a karaoke machine at 50% off, my old Nvidia GTX 970 at 40% off; it was better than shopping at the mall even if online shopping in SEA was still quite scary back then unlike the US where online shopping had been the norm for a while.
I miss the old shopee where the discount, cashback and free shipping voucher are still real vouchers and stackable, not some fishy business trick. I used to look up for the double digit date and payday sales to buy my items but not anymore. Oh today is payday sale? Cool whatever.
Does anyone have any advice I can take concerning the financial market, because I’m trying to make wise decisions this year cos I’ve lost a lot of money unfortunately.
I don't even know that they're falling. In Indonesia, they're the top 2 e-commerce along with Tokopedia. But again, I've heard about this e-commerce bubble from several years ago. Lots of them have shut down in Indonesian market because the investors had stopped injecting funds. I won't surprised if Shopee would anytime soon. As the saying goes, "What goes up must come down." Good video, by the way.
Shopee in Indonesia has started to be abandoned, there are many problems at Shopee starting from shipping costs, warranty claims and additional costs which are very expensive but the goods are bad. TOXIC CULTURE
not just them. almost all asian tech companies stock price went down from 2021-2022 even till now. not exclusive to them. it's the bubble just burst, it had long coming. next few years is the US stock market, when the government and the public will slow down spending. so sell your US stocks now while the price is almost at the all time high.
Your title is misleading and click-bait. It gives the impression that the company is finished. Shoppee is going through a bad time at the moment and there's always a chance that it can recover later. Your video content is fine.
Subscribe for more videos like these, this video took so long!
The problem with shoppe is it's very difficult to return defective items for refund.
,,, therefore I'll order in Lazada first and others before looking at shoppe last.
Honestly, Shopee has done well. Their meteoric rise past few years was a fluke, due to Covid. They're still worth US$23bn, it's still pretty good.
Why there is no sources for the video in the description?

In Vietnam, too. Shopee is in their prime here. This is one of those situation where expansion of a brand saved it from bankruptcy.
It was shaky here in Indonesia as well, it's just something that happened (or maybe still happening, idk) behind the scene. Massive layoffs, workers being moved from Jakarta to a much smaller city with smaller payment (like Solo), etc

In the Philippines, it's Shopee vs Lazada.
Both have very similar concepts of online shopping.
Shopee is 10x more popular than lazada in terms of monthly user and buyer
Same with Thailand.
Shopee doesn't even accept foreign credit cards... what a bad company.
I switched to Shopee due to faster shipping with J&T and lower shipping fees.
Seems to be the same here in Thailand but it is Shopee vz Lazada
Shopee mostly for woman and fashion, tokopedia mostly for man.
I got that kind of vibe.
@@Anuitu2u Spot on. I used to have arguments with my (ex) GF about which is better online shop.
She was into shopee. She watches live feed, collect coins, etc.
I get my stuffs from Tokopedia, coz Gopay.
In Malaysia I feel everyone only talks about Shopee. It used to be Shopee vs Lazada, but now it seems most are usign Shopee
I never trust shopee for buying any electronics. I don't know why, but I always come to tokopedia first for electronics.
Their E-Wallet is pretty much useless
too many fake products in Lazada
@@dadwithnomustache Yeah, I forgot that one, "voucher" but only if you jump through hoops on one leg yesterday
same here I'm rooting for Lazada nowadays after long break
@@dadwithnomustacheudh ga pake shopee sejak entah kapan beneran sekarang shopee pay udh ga berlaku buat free ongkir? Waduh
I live in PH and my experience is Lazada offers a better experience than Shopee, so I don't use it anymore.
check up in Malaysia / Indonesia shopee are wild
same in viet nam
shopee and lazada, largest e commerce in SEA
Shopee is shitty, nowhere near competitive with lazada.
No competition thats the problem.
Shopee Malaysia slowly implement scummy business tricks. One of it is the item discount '50% off' but capped the discount at RM5 with minimum spend of RM200
You have to really read between the lines about their terms & condition which is a small text hidden when scrolling
Same for shopee philippines. lazada is more generous with their perks and has less problems with delivery.
HAHA
They dont learn from the fall of Lazada Malaysia.
In the Philippines Shopee is inundated with fake Chinese accounts that sell scummy products and imitations. They should vet or filter these out if they want to improve their service.
They won't care because people are still buying from those accounts and that's all that matters to them.
Is it just me or Shopee is still going strong in Malaysia?
yes it is
Yeah but buyers are running to Tiktok shops coz' the price at TT are so competitive, even though not secured as an e-commerce platform.😔
Tiktok shop is not 100% safe like shopee
It's still going strong in Indonesia too.
But as the video told, a new player has joined the game. And it has gained steam ahead so much so that Indonesian government (I don't know who lobbied them🙄) banned Tik Tok shopping for various regulatory reasons.
@@gorilladisco9108 Malaysia should do the same as Indonesia, banned it and let it perform just as a med soc. E- commerce is diff, it pays the tax etc.
Living in Singapore, I'm always divide between Shopee and Lazada. Shopee for more consistant quality, delivery time also quite good and for Lazada quality can ranging from very good deal to scam or very bad quality product. But Lazada definitely have more range of obscure product and more option.
It's the opposite in the Philippines. Shopee is street quality and fake reviews, while Lazada is more reliable and reliable reviews.
It's also the opposite in Thailand. 😂 Lazada is more reliable than Shopee.
both are chinese scam platforms
Sorry.
Couldn't have agreed more!
Has lazada experience always been better?
No @@Aivern
@@Aivern Lazada is worst in my country.

nah lazada is better
not too much
@@Genotypic-and-Genes true, I'm Vietnamese and people here absolutely love Shopee, me and my mother love Lazada though, the UI is so much better and the quality is above average with trusted sellers.
They have grown way too fucking greedy
Lazada on the other hand allows you to use multiple vouchers AS THEY ALWAYS DID, have a MUCH LOWER delivery fees, better customer service when it comes to returns, gives you coins cashback for every purchase.
@@MahoHacker bro, my whole family uses shopee...
@@Caver82 and holy crap, same opinion, quite exactly the same.

It's easy to order goods from Shoppe, but extremely difficult to seek a refund for having received a wrong product. That's sufficient to stop orders from me and my family members.
Huh, its quite easy for me to go through the return/refund process. A few times also
Same goes with me. Bullshit company
Indeed. Boycotted them several years back after they refused to honour a refund request for an obviously different product than advertised. Jumped through all the hoops they gave me, taking photos and videos and whatnot, and they just refused to do anything afterwards.
Totally no return no refund...selling lousy products
Boycotted shoppee for their crappy buyers protection.
Shopee's customer service is terrible. They would side scammer merchants on disputes.
Shopee consumer protection is way worse than Lazada, at least in my country. Idk why ppl still use it.
I still buys on Shoppe but I don't have brand loyalty on these platforms. I buy on whoever gives the best deals at that time.

Do you know why Indonesians use Shopee for cheaper items/household items and Tokopedia for expensive items and/or electronics?

Lazada and shopee dominating Malaysia and Philippines
Not surprising, because in Indonesia, Shopee overspent in advertisements and discounts and promotional events. Whatever the excuses, no businesses - including startups - will survive in the long-run when they fail in making money. Then I think the qualities of the merchandises and the merchants are also sometimes questionable, and this made me buy stuffs online at Shopee only if there's no other alternatives.
It's not fall,It's profit taking.Don't be fool in stock. There's no up hill forever.
And how do you know?
The greatest downfall for these Chinese companies is the fact they tend to hire their own people for strategic roles. Hence many such companies cannot expand and do well overseas, unlike other MNCs where they think global hire local. TikTok is now helmed by a Singaporean so that definitely helps to curb such practices. But if the current CEO is replaced by a Chinese, then I think make no difference.
Uhhh chinese is the main pop in singapore. unless your talking about the mainland ones from china
@@feintfaint7213most definitely mainland he meant. It would be disastrous for them if it happened
One thing that made me move away from Shopee is its logistics. It takes more days to process and deliver items in Shopee when compared to Lazada.

Well not many people know about Shopee (in other countries) and many shopee users will get pissed so they won't watch the video. ;]

She could be just comforting you, her statement was not necessarily true.

Here in the Philippines, before, we can choose BOTH coins and free shipping. Now, we can choose only one of them.
You have to pay for shipping, else it will eat into their profits
Why there is no sources for the video in the description?

As the saying goes, "What goes up must come down."
Good video, by the way.
Imagine not having Ice cream is consider as cost cutting, during covid my company literally had to cut aircond 2-3 hours a day just to stay afloat.
Really well structured explanation - enjoyed it. Thank you and well done.
Why is the Malaysian video’s comments blocked?
