It comes from the heart my friend. It takes a personal who lives the struggle daily to understand and identify with the journey. All of us have a story and addicts are your brother and sisters and fellow humans. Keep positive your loved.
For someone with such a soft demeanor and who speaks so clearly, he would never come across to me as a drug addict who’s been in and out of prison the past 40 years. Wish him all the best in his fight to stay clean. Really glad he is getting a chance to live a normal life.
Well that is what I feel is most scary about drugs, aside of the direct harm they can do ofc. It is not at all like every drug addict is some insane psycho or violent or has a bad nature or is a failure of a human being or anything... Every person reacts different to that stuff to some extent and while some might even manage to maintain a somewhat 'normal' life and hide their addiction ( at least for a while) others spiral out of control real fast. I saw something like that happen to a former class mate. A bunch of them tried out so called 'soft' drugs ( I do not really believe in that term, albeit some certainly are far more destructive than others) and all of them were fine and moved away from them again, finished school and started a normal life.... Except that one guy who legit dropped out of school. I met him many years later and LUCKILY he had managed to turn around his life and was in good shape, but he only succeeded with his last shot basically... a lot of hardship along the way.
For his friend, employer and colleagues, thank you for giving him a second chance and treating him as he deserved. And give it for Mom's love, for never giving up on her beloved son. To his sons, I hope they also find closure and if God wills, may they meet each other again and have that long-deserved reunion. Last but not least, if you ever see this... Mr. Poh Lim, Dennis, and other ex-offenders who are turning into a new leaf... yes, we do believe in you. Good luck, never stop believing that you can do it!
Mr Tay Poh Lim, Just saw the video. I prayed that God will help you be a happy person, reconcile with your two sons, have supporting work colleagues, good friends & good health. I pray also that you'll have good work prospects. Be close to God & trust Him for He loves us, no matter what. Do Take Care Mr Tay.
He is not a bad person...he was just unfortunately obsessed with something that took control of him. Everyone of us has a "Drug". Some are obsessed with their cars, some are obsessed with their handbags, while others are obsessed with eating. It's just unfortunately that substance drugs was what had gotten him. He is no lesser then any of us. He has not given up on himself and that's the most impt thing. I cheer for this man.
YOU ARE RIGHT!! Now the "drug" is obsessive about making more money" through rental or sale of property to become richer such that they forgot how the tenants are suffering from such high rental cost in their life. Property Agents must be monitored closely by the authority, and set a limit to their power. They are like the drug traffickers now in our modern society.
Thumbs up to Poh Lim’s employer and his sister. Without a job, you could imagine how big a struggle he would face. An idling mind is a devil’s workshop…so I would say that his employer really contributed to his success in staying on the right track. Stay strong and God bless, Poh Lim!
His sons letter was so heart-felt and heart-breaking. It is a child’s honest declaration of his deepest feelings and I applaud the son for writing this very sincere and honest letter. As someone who cannot connect with her mum I understand how this emptiness feels and how destructive it can be in one’s life. I wish both of them find some closure.
It was really heartbreaking to hear the relationship (or lack of) he has with his sons. I hope he continues on this path and manages to reunite with his sons soon. All the best!
I hope his sons can reconnect with him and rekindle their relationship. Everyone deserves a second chance, especially when that someone is your own father.
They can keep avoiding their father for whatever reasons they can think of but it's every Chinese son's duty to carry the lantern and buy the water on that eventual day.
amazing to see this of Mr Poh Lim! I hope that he is able to get in touch with Bluebird Bros to share more about his experience and also to motivate people to stay away from drugs. At the same time if he feels he has excess energy to burn, can consider exercising more or hitting the gym to live a long and healthy life!
Wow! He should do more videos, he can become a successful RUclipsr if he stays consistent because his experiences is so interesting. Seeing his surroundings after decades! We should help him to become a traveller with good gear by donating somehow. The catch is that he should regularly post his stories on RUclips for us to admire. The process can also help him stay clean and make a good living. & he is very fit! I wish I can be so fit when I get to his age.
Lim is lucky he still survives at 66, my brother started drugs in LA, 2006, got into trouble by 2010, he was very thin by 2009, I took him For rehab for three months. He got out very healthy and looked very good, I moved him from LA to Houston in 2011. He was very clean till 2015. I saw the differences in him again. Anyway, he died by March 5, 2018, was only 53, studied in UK, got a master degree, influenced by bad people and made bad decision for himself. He is almost five years dead. He was an engineer in Malaysia and singapore. Studied in Uk and moved to the USA. Anyway, he is always in my memory. Thanks for the video, keep up your good job, LIM. I brought his body ash back to our hometown.
Hi Poh Lim, I did leave a comment previously. I hope you continue stay drug-free and think of your mum whenever there are any "triggers" or "temptations". To his sons: I can see your dad regrets on his eyes and he is trying hard to control his tears upon reading your letter. Please get in touch with dad because time don't wait for anyone. Give yourself and him a chance to rebuild the relationship.
Thank you Mr Poh Lim for sharing a short snippet of your life and being so open about your struggles. I'll be rooting and praying for you! Hope Singapore will continue to have more individuals like Mr Marc who can support ex-offenders' reintegration into the society by giving them another chance at life. And yes CNA Insider, hope to get more updates on Mr Poh Lim after his trip!
I am rooting for Poh Lim to pull through. He is blessed with great support from his mum as well as his employer and colleagues. Don’t give up Poh Lim, all the best!
Hope Poh Lim and his sons reunite. It has been a painful and difficult journey for them, but hopefully they will reconcile and rekindle the father-son love. Good work to CNA on spreading more awareness on ex-offenders in the public. We need a more caring society to learn to give ex-offenders a second chance.
heartbreaking and heart warming at the same time .There is. so much pain In his fragility, a sadness mixed with hope and genuine desire to keep well and be a better man, however terrified and lost he feels. So much humanity and dignity. I shed a tear for sure. Keep it up brother.
This is very well documented video. I cannot believe such a well-spoken and soft demeanor man was a drug addict. I believe you can be an influence to other drug addicts to make this change perpetually.. I can tell you are good person by nature, tell the drug, you win the battle this time. Thank you so much for the Samaritans around you especially Marc for giving you a job to devote your time and make a living. I’m so happy your mom got you back after 40 years, she deserves you to love her and filial piety the rest of her time with you. I’m sooooo looking forward you to reunion with your sons. The Lord bless you 👌
He is very brave to tell/share his life story. We will continously pray for your peaceful life. And reconciliation/ reunion with ur son. Each one of us hv our own life story. Regarless who are parents and who are our children. We all hv our challenges. And having victory and learning from it are all considered gift.
Hope that his sons can contact him. Let me say a word or two about reconciliation. To the sons - the reconciliation is for your own good. So that there are no regrets when your father is gone. Many years of drugs will definitely have shortened his life span so don't take his longevity for granted. Reconciliation is so that you can close the chapter in your life and move on. Not so much to support him and etc.. Speaking from experience. I reconciled with my father when I was 41 yo and he passed away about 7 years later. So I had closure. On the other hand, my sister did not meet my father till on the last morning of his life....
My eyes got watery when i see how loving & caring Poh Lim’s mother is towards him. No matter how old we’ve grown, we will always remain little in our mother’s eyes. i hope Poh Lim continues to lead a positive life and never fail himself, his supporters & also his mother.
Stay positive Uncle Poh Lim! Truly an uphill task to stay clean. But nothing is impossible, esp w God. May your mother live another 10 more years in gd health so tt y'all can enjoy more time together and she can see your true transformation. I can understand how your sons feel. May they see your change too. God bless y'all.
Such a soft spoken guy…may you find your suitor soon and most importantly may your journey be a prosperous one..thank you Mom for giving him an unconditional love he most needed.❤
A cool guy yet the drug has a hold over his life for all the past long years!. Thank you the boss that gives him a chance to work. Hope he can live his rest of life well, channel to new positive activities , enjoy his life well, reconcile with his sons and enjoy the lost time he has on this earth. Life can still be beautiful!
this is so encouraging to watch. Bad habits are irreversible, persistence is key to training a wounded spirit. All the best to you, Poh Lim. Heaven watches over you if you allow it to. May God bless you with His favors this new. year 2023!
All the best to Mr Poh Lim! Never look back and repeat the mistakes because second chances don't come often or easily. Keep up the determination and positivity of staying clean. You can do it!
God bless this mother and son......The whole world is now rooting for Poh to succeed by not succumbing to his addiction anymore,......There is an amazing world out there and I hope Poh gets a chance to see it.
Wishing Poh Lim all the best!!!! I've been there, its hard with the social stima but with right motivation and determination you'll pull through! 💪 keep it up!
Extremely lucky to have such good employer. His old, loving mom is always there for him, at least for now. He did not mention his ex-wife, but I hope his children get in touch with him again.
Yes i believe you want to change and you CAN change. Yes, i believe you can do it! You are smart and speaks very well & clearly. God bless you & your 2 adult children. May forgiveness and reconciliation happens soon.
I'm so glad to see mr. Poh Lim back in the society. I remember when CNA released a follow up episode but mr. Poh Lim was not included. Now that he is back and doing good, all the best to you mr. Poh Lim. Kudos to the boss who gave the best path towards working population
You have suffered enough bro.. With harship comes ease.. Press on brother.. That silver lining is always waiting for you.. Just need you to be there on your own accord.. Stay Safe.. and hopefully you will reconcile with your two sons.. Both you and your sons need closure.. Life is simple.. it is just us and our actions.. Hope to see you with your two sons talking and spending that whats left in happiness.. Stay strong brother.. Peace..
I love this guy. Honestly, I understand his situation fully. One of the things to avoid being triggered by drugs is to make a conversation short with friends that we know a recovering addicts or sort of. Like he intelligently said, prolong the conversation might brings or lead to other parameters.. Wish him well..
Thank you for being brave to share your life and to everyone who supported you. Keep it up and I am sure you will be exemplary in society. Watching from Malaysia.
Such a strong and loving mother you have! I wanna give her a big hug! Painful decisions that she had to make but she knows it’s for your well being! Make her proud that you have burnt your bridges to the past & better days are here. Also you may wanna join a ministry in church to serve eg warden, St Vincent de Paul, etc Rooting for you !!
I admire Mdm Lee’s courage to hand her own son to the authorities and her love for him didn’t falter for 40 years. She never give up hope, and I hope that will give Poh Lim strength to persevere. His same effort now would probably have him reunite with his children in time to come. So keep the faith and it will bear fruit some day. Impossible is nothing and all the best.
Poh Lim has an excellent command of English; he is quite articulate and easy to understand. Poh Lim's English is much better than that of the young people in this video. He seems to be a good person and I wish him all the best in the future and hopefully he can reconnect with his sons. Kudos to his boss at Pro-Lifting for giving him a second chance. 🙂
We are all Poh Lims when we ride the public transit in the morning rush hour. I too would walk the lonesome path whenever possible just to get away from the world and have some space for myself to keep my sanity in check!
Hi Poh Lim, it's heart warming to see your positive attitude. Dont push yourself too hard n I wish you all the best in whatever you do😁 You treasure your current moment while your precious mum is still around!❤️
Brother Poh Lin and Dennes. God has began a good work in you by blessing a loving mum, friend, good employer, colleagues, counsellor. GOD will bring it to completion. Have faith in God and focus on your blessings; work and walk towards the promises ahead of you. May God bless both of you with HIS ever presence and guidance.
Thank u CNA for all your realistic & emphatic portrayal showing the emotional side of the subjects and being not judgmental & creating awareness even offenders have the same aspirations as any successful people in society some just have harder time getting adjusted to the discipline of working life or their social status dictated by society due to their lack of education or opportunities in life. Everyone deserves a helping hand it doesnt cost anyone to be kind or to lend a hand to be helpful whenever possible
From all the documentaries I have watched regarding recovering from drugs. It is really family and friends support what the convicts really needed the most. It plays a big part in their daily lives so not to get lose on track... Poh Lim thank you for loving your mother the most! Enjoy every single moment with her since we all know she is already aging... Long live and Love yourself always! 🎉❤
I really do hope both your sons are watching this. They will be proud of you. Drugs addiction is never easy to stop, so i do pray and hope that this is the last time that you will come out of prison. All the best and God Bless.
Marc, God bless you and your sister for giving Poh Lim an opportunity to live life. Poh Lim, praying for you that there will be more breakthroughs in your precious life - total freedom from drugs and alcohol, reconciliation with your sons. May you know and believe how deeply loved you are.
i can"t image what it's like to be an addict, and the pain you had to go thru and those who love you,but the here and now is what's important.and your doing well.as for your sons, that's going to take time.whats important right now is your self care .so you can feel whole again.please don't give up.
Kudos to Poh Lim for his fight to stay clean. Really heartache to see his aged mother still worrying for him. His real "test" will come when his mother eventually passes on. Come on Poh Lim , you can do it.
I wish you the very best Poh Lim. I pray that your boys will contact you n forgive you for being absent in their lives. Look positive be focus. Most importantly must be strong n with determination stay away from those bad influences. Poh Lim move on, you owe it to your mum. No more heartaches for her please.
Dear Poh Lim, if you are reading this, I would like to let you know that you can do it. My only brother was captured by drugs for more than a decade. We were at our wit's end and did not want him to die from drugs, I called the police. The prison was a safer place. Our hearts were broken and we prayed for him and visited him faithfully. We did everything we could to love him. We also know it was very tough struggle for him. Long story short, one day years later, he decided he had to overcome. He checked himself into Changi rehab. He fought the demons. He received Jesus. He must live and overcome for his children's sake. And he did. He has been clean eversince and even runs a successful removalist company today. No longer smoke cigarettes too. We are so proud of him and so thankful to God. Remember the one who loves you, Poh Lim - your 88 year old mother and God who created you. You too can overcome, like many real historical characters in the Bible who overcame. I pray that you will also be able to connect and reconcile with your two sons. Apostle Paul says, we are in the ministry of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:11-21), with God and with people. Revelation 1-2 also talks about those who overcome the evil one - satan - who works in us to sin. God bless you in spirit, in soul and in body. In Jesus' name. Amen.
For Poh Lim’s employer, thank you so much for giving him a new start. God bless you👏👏👏👏👏Poh Lim, Jia Yu👏👏You can do it. Don’t touch drug again, I have one relative like you, I wish he would change like you😭😭.
This is human will. Not everyone will be like him. He has a very strong will power to change. If your mind is weak, you will go back the old ways. Salute him for staying clean as a respect to his mom. Without her, he would not have live so long.
Hi everyone, Poh Lim has read your comments. He’s “happy, happy, happy” and would like to thank you for all your encouraging words.
Such an inspiring story
It's never too late to change
It comes from the heart my friend. It takes a personal who lives the struggle daily to understand and identify with the journey. All of us have a story and addicts are your brother and sisters and fellow humans. Keep positive your loved.
Glad to know he read the comments. Best wishes to Mr. Poh Lim!
Uncle Poh Lim add oil. U can overcome all odds.
I want to buy him dinner sometimes. how to do that?
Mr Tay Poh Lim,
Just saw the video. I prayed that God will help you be a happy person, reconcile with your two sons, have supporting work colleagues, good friends & good health. I pray also that you'll have good work prospects. Be close to God & trust Him for He loves us, no matter what. Do Take Care Mr Tay.
Take care Tay.
Thank you
He is not a bad person...he was just unfortunately obsessed with something that took control of him.
Well said.
And putting him in a prison cell for 40 years obviously didn't treat the addiction...
As an addict myself I know exactly what he's going through..staying sober is very tough
As someone who cannot connect with her mum I understand how this emptiness feels and
how destructive it can be in one’s life. I wish both of them find some closure.
God bless and keep you safe.
Looks more like (and fitter than!) a police officer than image of an ex-offender. Be strong bro, everyone is rooting for you.
Thank you to Marc for giving Poh Lim a new chance. My prayers for Poh Lim to stay positive and continue his fight.
66 and he's in good shape !
He articulates well
Very steady & calm person.
It was really heartbreaking to hear the relationship (or lack of) he has with his sons. I hope he continues on this path and manages to reunite with his sons soon. All the best!
🤗
I'm looking forward to his adventures. If he has a channel id sub instantly.
I hope his sons can reconnect with him and rekindle their relationship. Everyone deserves a second chance, especially when that someone is your own father.
They can keep avoiding their father for whatever reasons they can think of but it's every Chinese son's duty to carry the lantern and buy the water on that eventual day.
Don't give up Poh Lim, please keep going! I can feel the love for your mom!
Am rooting for you Poh Lim, I maybe an online stranger here but hope my words land a positive note to you, your mom, and your sons !
amazing to see this of Mr Poh Lim! I hope that he is able to get in touch with Bluebird Bros to share more about his experience and also to motivate people to stay away from drugs. At the same time if he feels he has excess energy to burn, can consider exercising more or hitting the gym to live a long and healthy life!
Such a well-spoken and gentle man, importantly a filial son. Hope he is able to stay clean not only for himself but also for his mother.

Sorry this is sad

True. Don't wait till he passed on, no amount of prayers and offerings can compensate that lost and regrets
Thank you Mr Poh Lim for sharing a short snippet of your life and being so open about your struggles. I'll be rooting and praying for you!
Well spoken, gentle, filial and still very fit at your 60s, you have all you want.. stay clean and we are all rooting for you!!
A mother's never ending & unconditional love.
I have to give his mom my respect to turned his son. It is not easy to do it but necessary to have him back to the right path!
heartbreaking and heart warming at the same time .There is. so much pain In his fragility, a sadness mixed with hope and genuine desire to keep well and be a better man, however terrified and lost he feels. So much humanity and dignity. I shed a tear for sure. Keep it up brother.
I hope Poh Lim will keep going strong, no matter how hard it is. We’ll be your supporters! Don’t give in to drugs, they are your worst enemies.

wishing him all the best and to be reunited with his sons.

Thank you producer for such educational programs that you have worked on and aired...
Hi Mr Poh, All I can do is to send my Blessings and Love for your complete recovery and hopefully your sons will see your changes...
For a (former) chronic drug addict, he looks surprisingly good at 66. He could pass being in his 40s to 50s.
Such a lovely person ! Wishing the best for him and recovered smoothly from his addiction. Can't wait to see if there's more update on him ❤
I'm so glad to see mr. Poh Lim back in the society. I remember when CNA released a follow up episode but mr. Poh Lim was not included. Now that he is back and doing good, all the best to you mr. Poh Lim. Kudos to the boss who gave the best path towards working population

14:51 the letter by his son really make a huge impact for him to change to be a better father. I feel you because I am father myself.
Genuinely seems like such a nice person. Wish him all the best in staying clean and leading a happy life.
I wish this man all the strength he needs. I understand addiction all to well.
His fashion sense sibeh good leh 👍🏼
All the best, Poh Lim! One day at a time 💪🏼✨
We are all Poh Lims when we ride the public transit in the morning rush hour. I too would walk the lonesome path whenever possible just to get away from the world and have some space for myself to keep my sanity in check!
0:30 - if you look closely, there's a guy moonwalking at the void deck 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hi Poh Lim, it's heart warming to see your positive attitude.
Dont push yourself too hard n I wish you all the best in whatever you do😁
You treasure your current moment while your precious mum is still around!❤️
It's tragic how someone afflicted with addiction has decades of his life stolen.
Inspiring! All the best Poh Lim
So many great people and organizations I have seen in this chapter. Marc, Poh Lim's mum, SPS, CNA and Poh Lim himself.
Very inspiring! Praying for your continued clean living all the way🙏
Thank u CNA for all your realistic & emphatic portrayal showing the emotional side of the subjects and being not judgmental & creating awareness even offenders have the same aspirations as any successful people in society some just have harder time getting adjusted to the discipline of working life or their social status dictated by society due to their lack of education or opportunities in life. Everyone deserves a helping hand it doesnt cost anyone to be kind or to lend a hand to be helpful whenever possible
I wish Poh Lim all the very best.Stay positive, your sons will come back to you. They are watching and rooting for you from afar.
Thanks to CNA for covering his updates. Poh Lim if you're seeing this please press on and continue to strive for excellence. You can do it!
I really do hope both your sons are watching this. They will be proud of you. Drugs addiction is never easy to stop, so i do pray and hope that this is the last time that you will come out of prison.
All the best and God Bless.
I’m watching this video on CNY. Just hoping that today you are celebrating it with your family and sons.

Kudos to Poh Lim for his fight to stay clean. Really heartache to see his aged mother still worrying for him. His real "test" will come when his mother eventually passes on.
Come on Poh Lim , you can do it.
I wish all the best for his future endeavors, respect for his efforts 🙏🏻

I am proud of you Poh Lim Sir.❤
And a Big Thank You! for those giving him a chance.❤❤❤
Can we have an update on Poh Lim please … cause am more excited then anyone else about his new life…
Dear Poh Lim, if you are reading this, I would like to let you know that you can do it.
How drug can destroy ones life. I hope he will not turn to drugs again... Heartbreaking to see such handsome and kindhearted man do drugs
Kudos to Poh Lim for coming out of this period of darkness. Keep your spirits up and hopefully your sons will contact you eventually
This is human will. Not everyone will be like him. He has a very strong will power to change. If your mind is weak, you will go back the old ways. Salute him for staying clean as a respect to his mom. Without her, he would not have live so long.
He speaks so well! You can do it !! God is with you !!
All the best Mr Poh Lim. May you find peace in your heart as your refresh your body and soul.
