I went to Auschwitz and Dachau with my parents when I was 6 or 7. It affected me my entire life. I understand what happened, the horrors they endured… The piles of clothes, shoes, eyeglass put in perspective how many people were stripped of everything they owned and imprisoned, forced to work until they dropped, then put in giant ovens dozens at a time. I know this sounds crazy but I learned the Nazi’s made soap from the fat of the Jews they murdered and I refused to use soap for two years until my parents finally convinced me they no longer made soap out of people. They aren't ultra strict, they have cell phones and are allowing to be filmed. I watched another documentary where a woman's daughter married into a strict community and she and her family would not allow them to bring cameras into her house, they did not have t.v.s, cell phones, computers or radios. The camera crew had to talk to the mother after she left her daughter's house after the visit.
Depends on the community. I’m in the U.S. and there’s a huge Orthodox and Ultra-Orthodox community with many different sects in Lakewood. They have kosher phones-think older style flip phones without internet and some use smart phones with limited apps or filters.
Non of the families you saw in the background have tvs or phones. They have leaders in the community who have em and that’s who you saw. It’s the first time a few of them allowed to be filmed, those who are trusted in the community. I’m sure you’d love for them to not know what evil awaits outside. You don’t sound like you’re curious or even that you actually paid attention to what you watched. You didn’t see people in the back covering their faces not wanting to be on camera? Trust me, they have more discipline than any of those who judge them. You probably think they follow the tradition just so they can make a RUclips video, nuts. No surprise that you would. Most of what they do, and most of ways Jews contribute, isn’t done on video. Just like the healthcare they provide to everybody, not only Jews. The same thing in NY and other big states. Or the fact that most Muslim immigrants use Jewish refugee programs to move to the west. That’s what should matter. No other religious group provides healthcare to everyone, specially to those who hate them. The entire Jewish religion is built on being humble. And by the way, not just for women. This is why when you see a religious family, the men cover up just as much. I know it’s hard to understand that there are people who actually don’t want or care about attention and clicks. They just allowed to be filmed to educate people who are genuinely interested. And there are plenty.
It really touched me when the elderly man said that when he was growing up, none of the children knew what grandparents were because they had all died in the Holocaust. That really brought it home that this entire community is made up of people whose parents were children during the war and survivors in one way or another.
These very strict Orthodox communities began after WWII as a way to ‘protect’ themselves. Each and every member of these tribes have relatives lost during the Holocaust which is why they have created an insular world of their own.

How interesting and what a wonderful way of life, so uplifting and community spirited to each other. Really enjoyed finding out about this culture ❤ 🇬🇧
This is unfair to their children not letting them go to college. Also not giving the women a full education. It makes them rely on this community even if they decide to leave, or even worse shunned from it! And don't get me started on how they treat lgbtq people. I'm Jewish btw.
Unfair? Why is college or a full education so important to people? They have a wonderful life, strong community and large families. They are happy and satisfied. And LGTBQ is sexualizing children and encouraging them to mutilate themselves. It’s pretty obvious why they were not accepted historically, I feel no pity for gays anymore. Give me the Jews over gays anytime.

In London I see this group often. They got sick in COVID and took up a whole ICU ward. There’s also huge numbers in the genetic diseases clinics because they intermarry. Sometimes a family of 6 kids has 5 affected by serious potentially fatal disorders. If they keep going it won’t end well.
Certain groups of Muslims, Pakistanis particularly, Mormons, Amish and Mennonites have the same problem. It’s not necessarily incest, but if second cousins marry second cousins, generation after generation, from a small gene pool, couples can inadvertently end up genetically as close as immediate family. In the US, there was very little Covid among Amish, maybe because they’re rural. There has long been a problem with recessive genetic diseases and syndromes. Some communities have taken action to prevent it, others have a more fatalistic attitude, we take whatever God sends.
In case you haven't noticed there are 6 million people less for us TO marry. There are approximately 14 million of us. Worldwide. If they only marry from within, I think that eventually that's going to cause some issues...if you know what I mean. Perhaps they have these communities in other places!?
I'm a Christian. For many years I lit A menorah over Hanukkah. I made a special point of posting it each night on my FB page in support of Israel. I assumed that money was offered on Yom Kippur. When I learned that many Jews still perform animal sacrifice, I was crushed. How could anyone believe that killing A chicken would cleanse your soul and absolve you of anything? Heatbreaking.
I don't understand why they are using the word sect, since it is somehow negative. They are simply an orthodox Jewish community but they are not a cult. They are not dangerous for others, they don't annoy anyone and on the top of that they don't try to convert anyone .
I’ve never understood the commandment “worship not idols” when they actively worship the wall and holy land it seems contradictory is all. Especially since they fight wars over idolatry of the holy land. Can someone explain?
Jew do not worship the wall. The wall is considered a holy place since the temple was there people feel closer to g-d there. We do not worship the Holy Land. We pray that G-d will return us to the holy land as promised in the bible.
I have a feeling that both the patriarch and matriarch of the community are enjoying their life and it looks like some of them also have had a choice in the way they live. They are well connected also outside of the community. The leading man's international travel etc, they have all these resources. This apppears to stand in vast contrast to the members of the sect who'se autonomy is incredible marginal. I'm not even talking about the kids but also adult members. They are only following and letting others lead their life, to intervene in it, they don't have any objections, they are docile, obeying and do not appear to have much of individuality etc. I get it that it's the way sects operate but it is still shocking to witness the diametrical imbalance of power in the upper and lower segments of the sect. I have a feeling that there are little resources to the followers and everything is decided for them. I think it's in contrast to the way human beings are built but that's just my opinion on the matter. I also worry about all the things which are hidden and not shown to us. Where are the disabled children? They must have a lot of genetic diseases, where are these treated and which type of treatment is there? If the boys and girls, especially girls, receive no sexual education and information, then based on what do they make their so-called 'choices' of preelected spouses? What happens if there is an unfit in bed, does the woman's pleasure even matter? What about male molestation of women? What about gennder based violence, harrassment and abuse? We were presented with the scandal about female abuser, what about the men who have much more power and access in this community?
I love Jewish people! It's the only religion that allows you to learn about their culture and faith without pushing it down your throat and trying to convert you. Could never say the same about Christians and Muslims.
She sees pretty weird looking people outside her neighborhood, so there’s no reason to worry you stick out. That’s one thing I like about New York. You can wear whatever you want, any clothes, hair style, body art, or even nothing and people take little to no notice of you. (Okay, someone in their birthday suit may be a bit off-putting. You just avoid them is all.)
They would rather commit incest than breed with the outside population which they deem “unholy” and “unworthy”. Everyday people like you and I…. They wouldn’t want to be buried next to us…. They’re sickos
Sadly, these insular communities, which are found all over the world and in many different religions, soon find that keeping the outside world at arms length results in consequences they haven't considered. Inbreeding runs rampant among these communities which causes heath issues that impact the entire community. Very sad.

@ that’s why they had us open the doors for them and the lights.. idk how they turned them off but since the doors are mechanical they were not supposed to even use their room key to open the doors apparently..
Because they are not allowed to turn on light on Shabat, but are allowed to ask a non Jewish person to have it do for them.
If the light us turned on automatically when the door is opened they cannot open the door by themselves.
@@yuditilany yeah well guess what, it’s not our job to leave the front desk and walk them to their room and then go inside and turn on their lights too. They were rude
I worked in drycleaning for 7.5 years , can’t even tell you how many times I had money thrown down at me cuz they wouldn’t even get close to touching our hands , or sometimes even refused to let us counter girls wait on them (fine by me ! ) we have a large amount of Jews near Cleveland including a “college”/school for the teen boys . We had them on our route . Even young they were rude
Thank you for sharing your lives I respect you all so much. It's beautiful to see your children happy being children I'm sorry people are cruel to you it's shameful
So so beautiful , loving and caring community ❤
Rabbi Abraham Beck died 2 years after this film at the age of 85
This was really interesting…😊
I see them using modern tools. I didn’t think they did.
If they only marry from within, I think that eventually that's going to cause some issues...if you know what I mean. Perhaps they have these communities in other places!?
This hasn’t aged well eh? No violence!!?!?!?
I'm a Christian. For many years I lit A menorah over Hanukkah. I made a special point of posting it each night on my FB page in support of Israel. I assumed that money was offered on Yom Kippur. When I learned that many Jews still perform animal sacrifice, I was crushed. How could anyone believe that killing A chicken would cleanse your soul and absolve you of anything? Heatbreaking.
Really hard to watch. The music overpowers the talking.
Where are they now???? Since this is from 2015
Still there....
Why ?
No point watching - nearly a decade old - what is with putting up very out of date material!!!
Great question!
Jew do not worship the wall. The wall is considered a holy place since the temple was there people feel closer to g-d there. We do not worship the Holy Land. We pray that G-d will return us to the holy land as promised in the bible.
Their religion is disgusting and you see through their BS. Good job
We worship G-d AT the wall, we don’t worship the wall. The same way we worshipped G-d in the temple that once stood there.
Where is it said they worship the wall?
No devices except my telephone. Um, that’s a device.
Education is probably the only thing I find difficult. What if a woman or man wants more in their life.
I love Jewish people! It's the only religion that allows you to learn about their culture and faith without pushing it down your throat and trying to convert you. Could never say the same about Christians and Muslims.
How do they earn money if thry dont work??
They do work
Ive always wondered why women wear wigs instead of their own hair.
Are those guys allowed to watch RUclips, use internet, heck, even watch anime?
She sees pretty weird looking people outside her neighborhood, so there’s no reason to worry you stick out. That’s one thing I like about New York. You can wear whatever you want, any clothes, hair style, body art, or even nothing and people take little to no notice of you. (Okay, someone in their birthday suit may be a bit off-putting. You just avoid them is all.)
May the almighty bless them all.
So essentially they’re all related
just like the mormons
They would rather commit incest than breed with the outside population which they deem “unholy” and “unworthy”. Everyday people like you and I…. They wouldn’t want to be buried next to us…. They’re sickos

Mostly.
Genetically it's not good.
That thing that attacked them outside the synagogue was like a vicious animal
Sadly, these insular communities, which are found all over the world and in many different religions, soon find that keeping the outside world at arms length results in consequences they haven't considered. Inbreeding runs rampant among these communities which causes heath issues that impact the entire community. Very sad.
You make it sound like the 19th century was in ancient times.
Being a conservative Jew we abide by Torah but not this strict. Very strict this community is . Bless them .
I love the Jews❤️, not just me but all my family.❤️❤️❤️
They want to live in peace. Other cultures have different dress so it doesn't matter as long as they contribute for the good of community.
"Don’t Take the Human World as Your Homeland
Most people have come from heavens
Don’t just focus on fighting to get ahead in fame and gain
You came naked
When you leave, you shed your skin, taking nothing
Atheism and the theory of evolution have hidden intentions behind them
Modern notions and conduct are reaping evil fruits
The cosmos is dying in the process of formation, stability, degeneration, and disintegration
The Creator creates the new cosmos, busy in saving all beings
People came to the world to wait for His salvation and guidance
Dafa [Great Law] that offers return to heaven is already spreading widely in the world
Don’t take the human world as your homeland
Gain the Fa and return to heaven-you’ve been waiting for it for so long, too long

Such happy people 🙏
Why these Jews have the hair cut like the ancient Mongolians hair cut?
Just a regular day in Hackney😅 surprised this isn’t known
Religious identity is in your heart, soul and mind and not between your legs. Tattooing and piercing an infants ear is deemed rather taboo in most civilised countries but removing a healthy minors foreskin!? The number of boys who have suffered from amputations and even succumbed to death from this is disturbing. The oral suction thing? My god. We don’t live in draconian times. Respect your child’s body! 😡
I didn’t know they lived in Australia! They live in NYC too and 50 miles north of NYC too.
True I saw alot of them in Brooklyn when i went for a wedding
And London. Big groups here.
Did she say buba is Jewish for grandma? Is Jewish a language. And I have a collage education and I’m confused.
Hebrew is the language of Jewish people, not that confusing…
Yes. The language is actually called "Yiddish" and is very similar to German.
Hebrew is a language. Yiddish is a form of it. And I think you meant to say you went to college. But I am not sure about that
Yiddish is a form of German, with many words from other languages, including Hebrew. Overall, Yiddish is extremely near German.
Maybe she meant Hebrew?
Looks like Brooklyn! Let people live how they wish.
