I was sent to prison previously for drug possession and consumption. After serving my due, I decided to change over a new leaf and got myself a proper job. One day I overslept and was going to be late for work. When the feeder bus stopped at the MRT station , I quickly dashed down the escalator to the MRT. Maybe I was on my earphones then, I didn't hear anyone calling out to me. Suddenly I felt a firm grip on my shoulders. I stopped in my tracks, and 4 Transcom police officers were behind me. I took out my ear phones, and asked "yes sir?" First answer from one of them " Why you run away from us?" As I was passing my NRIC to them, I tried to explain that I was running to catch the train as I was late for work, and that I didn't hear them as I had my earphones on. The officer screening my IC then told his other colleagues "this subject just released last year for drug offences." The others then said "we need to search your bag." I asked the officers if we could go to a room or office to conduct the search, and the reply I got was a cold and curt "why? if you have nothing to hide why u scared that we search here?" The sight of 4 policeman searching the bag of a guy with tattoos was good enough to draw unwanted attention from the morning MRT crowd, and I could only keep my fingers crossed that I didn't bump into any friends or relatives. After the search, no apologies, no nothing. just a simple"Ok u can go now" So now, like what Whye Kee said "The court sentence us to a few years in prison, but the society give us the life sentence.
Thank you so much for sharing your story. I agree with you that the police officers should have carried out the screening somewhere else so that they don't cause a scene in public. As a former Journalist, it's not easy for me to feel emotionally engaged, all in the name of objectivity. However, this particular episode definately struck a chord. It's heart wrenching yet heart warming at the same time. Folks often criticise local productions but down to earth and sincere series like this makes us proud of local media. As I wipe the remnant of my tears off my face, I will like to offer a big thanks for your labor of love. 加油! And to former convicts, if you haven't given up on yourself, there are enough of us out there who will give you a chance to be the best version of yourself. 加油 too!

Its heartwrenching and warming both at the same time. To see these people moving on from their past and finding back meaning in life itself. What spoke to me most is that it's never our parents fault. We carry the fault as we rush through the fire despite knowing the consequences and severity of the situation. May God bless these ppl and thank you for the wonderful sharing (:

Thank you to all who have shared your story so honestly and vulnerably. You have shown me so much more than what my eyes can see, and I wanna be part of the society that does not sentence and judge you based on your past!
It's all circumstance. People who have done real harm to others still roam unapologetically free and people who sincerely repent are still burdened by their past. I genuinely hope all of you find peace and happiness. Thank you for sharing, it's been humbling.
Wow! I’m blown away on the content about this video m of ex-offenders who are given a second chance in life to make things right for their family and for themselves. So happy that they finally found their purpose in life. I wish nothing but the best to them in whatever they do and hope that society can give them a second chance. More of this such content! Keep up the good work OGS! 💯🤙🏼
They are really relatable, I believe they will be excellent counsellors. No one can do this job better than those who have experienced it, hang in there alright!
Thank you for producing this video and shining on the importance of human values no matter what the background is. Going to prison should not lower one's value in life, and we all deserve a second chance in life. We should never doubt their capabilities, rather, show them the way to a better path.

It’s so beautiful to hear these stories from people just like you and me. But at the end of the day their stories are unfathomable. What they have gone through. I’m glad they are out.
Thank you to the producers, staff and everyone participating in the video for sharing this with us. Its really really important to get the message across that convicts have lives too, and hearing all their stories really made me rethink about how i view them.
so, so strong! teared up watching this video and really admire their courage to try their best to return to society despite the stigma. it's tough but you guys are much tougher, great job for hanging in there :)
The most important is: This type of content should be broadcast on the TV on every top leading TV channel on every government on every country on this whole world rather than they broadcast the everyday fake news.
It is so heartbreaking to know that we, the society, who judge or offend people just by its look without knowing them in first place, we are the current villain actually. This is such a good way to change society's point of view. Love this... keep it up
It's heartwarming to see the young guy and girl say that they don't want society to blame their parents or the existence of gangs because it's their choice. They do say that some situations led them to the choices they have made but you can tell they are proud of who they are now and I feel like that stems from their ability to take responsibility for their own choices and move on with life.
Thank you for sharing their stories. Thank you interviewees for being so brave and still carry on giving back to our society despite how the rest of us treat you on a daily basis.
first thing come in mind after done watching this video is that i want to be friends with everyone. deep inside them is something that i would like to know more about. i like it so much
Nothing is too late... Glad all of them chose to change and they deserve better life definitely... I wish all of them well.. Continue to live urself and love ur love ones it will keep u grounded... do spread love k
I have a lot of respect for these people. They need a lot of courage to share their troubled past and stories, and I don't think I would be able to do that
These videos definitely deserve more attention than they are currently getting> Also, just wanted to point out a subtitling error @ 11:15 he says "She set me on a straight and narrow" i.e. behave in a way that is honest and moral, not "Straight arrow".
I volunteered at Boys' Home for 4 years when I was studying in Singapore; I believe many of them ended up on the wrong path due to circumstances, not because they are bad people. So glad you're willing to share your stories and wish you all the best!
Acceptance and support from family and society is what's needed to bring people out of these vicious cycles. People start finding purpose in life when they are connected to a community
Wow! OGS is really one of the underrated platforms in Singapore. I really hope yall get the audience size and recognition you deserve. hats off to the production team behind this. Seeing this side of Singapore that I had no clue about was really eye opening.
When I watch this video about these people's story, I just realize no one is evil if we listen to them, give them another opportunity to be good people. We all need to be loved
Thanks so much Our Grandfather Story for making this video. All of you featured are so courageous and beautiful! I just really want to say sorry for the times you have been rejected, interrupted and not supported in society. Everyone should be given a listening ear and support and nothing you do should change how much love you can give and can receive. Hold your heads high for now you walk as beacons of hope for others and yourself. Reject old ways with a passion because you are new everyday! Thank you for showing us what love means. I am truly moved. All of you are so important!
Thank you for sharing your heart warming stories. There is always good in everyone's hearts and I believe in second chances. Thank you for giving back to society and being so positive about life. May you all be blessed in your ways 💕
Don't ever look down upon their pass ... accept them in community n give them a chance everyone deserve to have a new chapter...a respect from me with salute
Thank you, really, for the video. Wow that is awfully deep. Really appreciate the interviewees' open hearted yet vulnerable voice. It's never easy to open up on such personal stories 😔 Really heartwarming to see the channel unfold to this level. Can only imagine how much work your team had to pull through to this point 👍👍👍

This channel deserves more subscribers yo
Is so sad to see when she say she only see tears last time and now she want to see only happy faces...hugs🙆🏻♀️
The lady with tattos got a great flow. She can rap....
She can be inspiration speaker
Thank you for producing this video and shining on the importance of human values no matter what the background is. Going to prison should not lower one's value in life, and we all deserve a second chance in life. We should never doubt their capabilities, rather, show them the way to a better path.

I just want to give all of them a big bear hug. A big thank you to this series and the guests for being so truly open and honest about what must've been a painful journey but a valuable insight.
"I realised that I can dream again"
Dayum that sunk deeeeeeep
Thanks to those in the video for being so authentic... you truly allowed us a peak into what you went through with your sincere sharing. You're well heard and loved. God Bless.
Sometimes it is these people that are stronger than us "civil & normal" people because of what they have been through. Respect
The most important is: This type of content should be broadcast on the TV on every top leading TV channel on every government on every country on this whole world rather than they broadcast the everyday fake news.
totally agree with you!!!
It is so heartbreaking to know that we, the society, who judge or offend people just by its look without knowing them in first place, we are the current villain actually. This is such a good way to change society's point of view. Love this... keep it up
This is one of my favourite episodes, thank you for this wonderful insight. It is very sensitive and thoughtful.
Wow! They are so wise now, and I really salute them regardless of their past.
first thing come in mind after done watching this video is that i want to be friends with everyone. deep inside them is something that i would like to know more about. i like it so much
Nothing is too late...
Glad all of them chose to change and they deserve better life definitely...
I wish all of them well.. Continue to live urself and love ur love ones it will keep u grounded... do spread love k
Whye Kee should become a counselor for juvenile offenders...
I have a lot of respect for these people. They need a lot of courage to share their troubled past and stories, and I don't think I would be able to do that
These videos definitely deserve more attention than they are currently getting>
Also, just wanted to point out a subtitling error @ 11:15 he says "She set me on a straight and narrow" i.e. behave in a way that is honest and moral, not "Straight arrow".
Oops! Thanks for pointing it out, we have edited the subtitles :)
I volunteered at Boys' Home for 4 years when I was studying in Singapore; I believe many of them ended up on the wrong path due to circumstances, not because they are bad people. So glad you're willing to share your stories and wish you all the best!
These guys right here, in fact, are doing much more then us in giving back to the society. Thumbs up!
The guy really makes sense at 16:16. I never went to prison, nor do I ever attend to go, but I feel sympathy for him.
I’m so proud of them, they are better at giving back than i am..they inspire me to do more
Kingsley looks like a homie that would give you life advices
Acceptance and support from family and society is what's needed to bring people out of these vicious cycles. People start finding purpose in life when they are connected to a community
“Gang is a career path, but the future is prison” wow.
Thank you sharing these amazing lifestories, very very appreciated from an ex New Zealand Gangster.
from experience i feel like the nicest ppl are usually the ‘gangster’ ones ++ they’ll treat their close friends like real fam
This series is extremely good, I can't get enough of it 😩
It is heartwarming to see ex-offenders walking back to the right track. Never too late to ever turn over a new leaf. Thank you for sharing!

Don't ever look down upon their pass ... accept them in community n give them a chance everyone deserve to have a new chapter...a respect from me with salute
Thank you, really, for the video. Wow that is awfully deep. Really appreciate the interviewees' open hearted yet vulnerable voice. It's never easy to open up on such personal stories 😔
Really heartwarming to see the channel unfold to this level. Can only imagine how much work your team had to pull through to this point 👍👍👍
