Torterra is always going to be my favourite starter of all time, i love it so much (mainly because of nostalgia but still) and i like standing up for the under dogs. When I play sinnoh I usually use Torterra, Staraptor, Floatzel, Mismagius, Yanmega and the last one is never really the same but usually its just like a skuntank or something.
I am gonna play platinum but I'm gonna use infernape this time. My team in diamond was: Torterra Staraptor Luxray Floatzel Lucario Bibarel (HM slave) which got replaced by weavile
*Thank you for picking up this wonderful Pokemon! As this year is the 10th Anniversary of Pokemon Platinum's Release...* *I, as a Thai Pokemon fan, truly love TORTERRA!!!*
@AllDay28 still if the ice type is faster it can almost OH'KO Torterra and i know you can just use potions but what about other pokemon who can learn ice type moves that arent ice types
@AllDay28 and yeah fire and ice are very uncommon in sinnoh but other pokemon can still learn some of those fire and ice type moves like pokemon who resist grass and ground
Finally tracked down a copy of Platinum and am enjoying gen 4 again for the first time in....10 or so years. Naturally I picked my favorite gen 4 starter, Tortera.
torterra is great with the right team and moveset. in addition to earthquake and woodhammer, i use leech seed (or synthesis) and curse (along with big root as a held item). that really optimizes his bulk and makes speed less of an issue because he can take a hit. I also used a Lopunny with agility and baton pass and a Bronzong with trick room so I had setups to mitigate his speed issue. He tore through half of Cynthia's team no problem
First of all, Torterra is my favorite mon from Gen 4. And after having said that, in Platinum you can get Gible in the Cave that has an entrance exactly below the Cycling Path. In Platinum you do NOT need Strength to access the place where Gible is located and I think you can also find Earthquake there as well. As for my team: - Torterra. - Ponyta / Houndoum. - Bibarel for the HM Slave. - I prefer Crobat than Staraptor. - Guarados. - The Sphinx line I guess.
Suggestions: 1. on torterra, choose 1 of crunch or rock slide and for the last attack, choose worry seed. If they have levitate, use worry seed, then earthquake them on the next turn. 2. on staraptor, you can use giga impact (buyable tm) instead of take down and avoid recoil, and keep fly as the sole flying type damaging attack and use the next slot for defog hm. Close combat is a useful attack on this pokemon, but having gallade on your team can also let you consider another attack in this slot such as quick attack (always attack first), aerial ace (never miss), or agility (get more speed). Steel wing if you are ok with using single use tms on your pokemon. 3. Why leaf blade and earthquake on gallade since you have such type coverage on your starter? you can use x scissor for coverage on gallade which is a tm you can reobtain later in battle points. For the 4th attack, you can use slash, night slash, even false swipe to be able to catch pokemon and possibly hypnosis also for sleeping them and catching pokemon, but does not work if you used worry seed by your starter. 4. Houndoom, why physical attacks on him when the special attack is better than attack, instead do flamethrower, dark pulse, nasty plot, and sludge bomb or shadow ball. 5. Lickylicky or possibly just use Bibarel and give it the remaining hms you need. 6. For a water type, I don't like what magikarp evolves into. Pick another water type such as floatzel. Can teach it a water hm if you can't fit all your hms on the other pokemon such as bibarel. You can use waterfall on floatzel while bibarel can get surf, floatzel can learn ice fang and crunch, and you can give it the non buyable tm iron tail. After some analysis, it has come to be known that 2 types can hit the entire national dex including modern generations of pokemon either neutral damage or super effective. Those types are ghost and fighting, the same type as marshadow, this also applies to earlier generations since the 7th generation is the most type diverse generation and this condition still applies. But not for inversion battles in the newer games.
Yeah gyarados is probably the best Pokémon to counter cynthias garchomp since it doesn’t have rock coverage, gyarados’ intimidate makes tanking garchomps physical attacks easier, and ice fang hits garchomp really hard especially if you use dragon dance.
I'm not it's really actually a good Pokemon despite being a underrated good stats almost all around and capable of removing any status effects on it just give it a leftover and it's basically a very pudgy wall.
Just completed a run with this end team! Decided to play a bit faster than normal and managed to beat Cynthia within 22:10 of game time (a pretty good time for me, I like to explore more typically). But due to the speed at which I was playing, I didn't end up filling out the entire moveset for each Pokémon, as by the end the highest level was my level 52 Gyarados. Thankfully, as it turns out 6 dragon dances is just enough to sweep Cynthia's entire lineup. In other words, had a lot of fun trying this out!
Torterra, Staraptor, Gallade, and Houndoom are excellent choices. Personally I would be using Vaporeon instead of Gyarados. Also, I would add either Froslass or Weavile. Ice is so underrated
If you’re up for it, you could remove Gallade and use Toxicroak. As for a replacement, that’s up to you, but I think it’d be a pretty alright Pokemon! For a move set, I recommend: - Sludge Bomb -Close Combat / Cross Chop -X-Scissor -Knock - Off
Benny why knock off? It’s only got twenty power in gen 4. You’d probably be better off using sucker punch or even theif, since you also get to keep the item. Also, cross chop is an egg move, which they’re not using, and it doesn’t learn close combat
I'm 96% sure you can get the quick claw early on in platinum if my memory serves me right. With that item being held by Torterra, he is an absolute beast
interesting! this is my team so far and yes i first planned it weeks before watching this video. not trying to give myself the best team, i'm trying myself as many of my favourite pokemon as much as possible while also having type coverage. but it's very interesting watching this video because it really helps me to come up some ideas on how to build a team! :O -torterra lv.40 male cut, withdraw, wood hammer and earthquake -togekiss lv.41 male fly, yawn, aerial ace (will replace) and aura sphere -luxray lv.40 female roar, leer, bite and thunder fang -lucario lv.40 female quick attack, screech, aura sphere and flash cannon -alakazam lv46 female (over leveled because i was using her to level grind riolu/lucario because special attack evs and hoping that would cause lucario's to go up if it even works that way? let me know if i'm wrong or not) focus blast, calm mind, psychic and shadow ball eventually i want to get a glaceon to deal with cynthia's garchomp which has shadow ball, blizzard, water pulse and i don't know what the 4th move should be? any ideas? :/
@Queen Peppyclaws I know my comment is late but I think the last move for glaceon should be quick attack because that move is underrated and it can come in handy in key battles
Hey if you want just copy paste this into a notepad of some sort so you dont have to rewind the whole video just to remember it Torterra - Wood hammer Earthquake Crunch Rock Slide Staraptor - Close Combat Fly Brave Bird Take Down Gallade - Psycho Cut Close Combat Leaf Blade Earthquake Gyarados - Bite Waterfall Ice Fang Dragon Dance LickLicky - Strength Surf Flamethrower Thunderbolt Houndoom - Flamethrower Iron Tail Thunder Fang Crunch
my problem with torterra is not it's speed, but lack of grass options to back up it's great attack stat, it's special attack is a joke at 75, and there are only four grass moves to use with it's physical attack even to this day in gen 7, and only one of those moves is gotten via level up Razor Leaf, the other moves are Wood Hammer (which requires a Heart Scale), Seed Bomb (Move Tutor), and Bullet Seed (which is only available in the gen 4 games as a TM), but why would you even bother with the last one, another problem is Platinum compared to D/P definitely makes things harder for this thing, since two gym leaders, Crasher Wake and Volkner have counter measures on their platinum teams to deal with it, when it should have an easy time taking on both.
I agree with the torterra part since he is a favorite grass starter but with the last part I think it deserves a pass since platinum is overall a great game and it challenges you more with some gym leaders getting new pokemon so you gotta be more creative
This was awesome! Torterra is my fav Sinnoh starter and in def gonna try this Team one day! But as for right now with the current playthrough Im doing of platinum, my team is: - Torterra - Staraptor - Spiritomb - Garchomp - Lucario - Magmortar The final four being Pokémon I’ve never used in an actual playthrough before. I’ve used all these Pokémon, but just not the final four in a platinum run. And this team has been great! Other members I used previously during this run were Floatzel, Luxray, Kricketune (hilarious in game cry and first time using one).
Instead of Bite on Gyarados, use Earthquake! Super effective Bite is just as powerful as neutral STAB Waterfall, so it won't help you much, while ground is a great offensive type that counters the only weakness of gyarados
So happy Lickilicky got some love. It is my favorite Gen 4 Normal type and has access to a lot of good moves. I remember seeing it in the Darkrai movie and it was so goofy that it became one of my favorite Sinnoh Pokémon.
Tbh, they totally overlooked picking up a Shinx in the super early game, Luxray is such a cool electric type Pokémon to have on your team, especially considering how early you can get it.
It's cool, but not that good. The only decent physical electric move it learns is Thunder Fang. Also Shinx with no-STAB Tackle is pretty painful in the early game.
I would swap out gyrados for vaporeon, lickilicky for magnezone, and houndoom for garchomp. With having crunch on torterra and night slash on gallade, you pretty much have the dark type covered. As for a fire type, you already have more than enough ways to deal with grass, steel and ice types with your ground and fire types.
It has an awesome design and it’s a bulky mon. It’s like saying tyranitar is terrrible because it’s slow, but it has bulk to make it survivable. Not saying torterra is as good as tyranitar, but it’s speed being low doesn’t make it terrible necessarily.
gyarados is the real mvp because it can destroy cynthia's entire team. the moveset should be waterfall, dragon dance, earthquake, and ice fang. set up when spiritomb is out and after 6 dragon dances you can destroy her team.
I actually used Crobat as my Flying type. She was ridiculously helpful against Gardenia, Fantina, and her Speed was great in countering enemies. Also, she saved my sorry, 15 year old behind with her +Defense nature, surviving Garchomp's Dragon Rush (after an unlucky crit on my Vaporeon and no more Revives) on 12HP and landing a final blow with Cross Poison. Needless to say, I never doubted the Zubat line ever again.
Yyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeesssssss Someone finally uses torterra best shino starter My team is normaly Torterra Staraptor Garchomp Luxray Floatzel Hippowdon Sometimes I switch Hipowdon for lopunny
Just slap a quick claw (or choice scarf if available) on that Torterra and then you got a possibly speedy tank with the dopest design of all starters. It’s design is asymmetrical, something more Pokémon really need, and it gives you the ground coverage also.
The best moveset is already used by Barry in Platinum, Endeavor, Double Team, Quick Attack, Ariel Ace(Best Moveset without coverage), with coverage it'll be Close Combat and Roost replacing with two of the moveset you like.
Torterra's actually my favourite Sinnoh starter Key is to run Curse a few times, he'll tank like mental Yeah speed's an issue but to paraphrase the anime - "You're dealing with a defensive type", hence why Paul's was a beast and Ash's... well... wasn't
torterra gets rock polish. speed literally isnt an issue for him, as hes bulky enough where 9/10 times hell pull it off and outspeed everything that threatens him.
I recently did a playthrough of Platinum and chose Torterra as that was the starter I chose when I first played. Torterra's earthquake has been the carry of my team. During double battles, he is teamed with a Staraptor, which makes earthquake that much better. When I first played, I had regretted choosing Torterra so much that I started a new game when I couldn't beat the 7th gym because I was too lazy to actually grind.
Actually, Torterra is my favorite starter in Platinum haha i always choose the grass type Here's my favorite 4g team: Torterra: - Wood hammer - Giga Drain (and then, Seed bomb) - Earthquake - Rock Climb (and then, Outrage) Staraptor: - Fly - Brave Bird - Close Combat - Quick Attack Floatzel: - Surf (and then, Hydro tail) - Aqua-Jet - Crunch - Ice Punch Rotom: - Thunderbolt - Confuse Ray - Shadow Nall - Uproar Gliscor: - Fire Fang - Earthquake - X-scissor - Stone Edge Lucario: - Aurasphere - Close combat - Extremespeed - Draco pulse Weavile : - Night Slash - Ice Punch - Metal Claw - Poison Jab Platinum is also the only game in which I build a team of 7 pokemon I train them all at the same time leaving one of them at the pension And switching them as needed (Sorry for my bad english, love from France!)
Suggestions for the BW Samurott and Serperior: Samurott Team: 1. Samurott 2. Stoutland 3. Swoobat 4. Krookodile 5. Darmanitan 6. Ferrothorn Serperior team 1. Serperior 2. Stoutland 3. Swoobat 4. Seismitoad 5. Darmanitan 6. Vanillux There's not too many in the original BW games, but I grew up with these so I know some good coverage with these guys. And Mystic, if you're wondering why I chose some over others you might've thought of, here are some reasons; -Swoobat has a base 114 speed compaired to Sigilyphs' 97 speed. Sure Woobat has much less Sp Atk than Sigilyph, but it still has some nice STAB moves for the game and can do away with Bianca's/Cheren's Pignite/Emboar and Cheren's Serperior. -Seismitoad is a great water and ground type, while not having much in terms of coverage, it shuts down Elisa's Volt Switch tactics greatly and Tympole evolves rather fast -Vanillux because flying type coverage I can't think of any other, but I would appreciate if you gave these some thoughts.
Move set for Staraptor is trash. Better one would be Brave Bird, Return, Close Combat, U turn Personally I would run EQ (over bite) on Gyarados and Night Slash (over EQ) on Gallade. Lickilicki is just an odd choice. I would go with something cool like a porygon Z or eevee-lution of choice.
This is the only video anyone ever needs to see. I went Torterra, Luxray, Staraptor, Garchomp, Floatzel and Heracross. I was fine without a fire type somehow 😂
I’m going to be re-playing Pokemon Diamond very soon. I plan on using Torterra, Staraptor, Floatzel, Rapidash, Lucario and Garchomp. I’d also like to add that Torterra is much better than people make it out to be. It can destroy both Infernape and Empoleon with Earthquake, it also the only starter Pokemon that doesn’t have a weakness to possibly the strongest Pokemon in the game - Cynthia’s Garchomp. It may lack in speed, but it makes up for in incredible Attack and Defense stats.

Houndoom - Flamethrower, Dark Pulse, Nasty Plot, SolarBeam
Floatzel - Surf, Ice Beam, Crunch, Brick Break
Staraptor - Fly, Return, Close Combat, U-turn
Lucario - Aura Sphere, Dragon Pulse, Shadow Ball, Psychic
Weavile - Ice Punch, Night Slash, Brick Break, Swords Dance
Jesus Christ those movesets
Mystic: says torterra is bad for speed
Also mystic : puts snorlax in almost all kanto best teams
Wow, he really likes advertising them T-shirts lol
I'm playing Platinum for the first time right now. My team is
Torterra
Staraptor
Bibarel
Luxray
Houndoom
Bronzong (Heatproof)
If I were you I'd get a 6th team member and keep the bibarel in PC until it's needed
@@xyzzy-dv6te LOL

PRAY FOR LORD DOOFUS
I am gonna play platinum but I'm gonna use infernape this time.
My team in diamond was:
Torterra
Staraptor
Luxray
Floatzel
Lucario
Bibarel (HM slave) which got replaced by weavile
*Thank you for picking up this wonderful Pokemon! As this year is the 10th Anniversary of Pokemon Platinum's Release...*
*I, as a Thai Pokemon fan, truly love TORTERRA!!!*
HOW can you not like torterra 😭😭
he doesnt like its speed and weaknesses but is his opinion 🙂
One of his favourite starters is meganium. He obviously can’t be trusted
Looks a bit, ugly
@@suchomimustenerensis 😭
@@calebshepherd8435 it’s fine, it’s his opinion,if you like tree turtle dats fine.
“Torterra’s weakness is all over sinnoh” did you mean the only two fire lines in the game
Umm ice type bro?
@AllDay28 still if the ice type is faster it can almost OH'KO Torterra and i know you can just use potions but what about other pokemon who can learn ice type moves that arent ice types
@AllDay28 i guess flying is torterra's biggest weakness since he almost cant do crap to them
@AllDay28 and yeah fire and ice are very uncommon in sinnoh but other pokemon can still learn some of those fire and ice type moves like pokemon who resist grass and ground
@AllDay28 i actually forgot about those heh and i aint knocking torterra he is my favorite starter
Finally tracked down a copy of Platinum and am enjoying gen 4 again for the first time in....10 or so years. Naturally I picked my favorite gen 4 starter, Tortera.
3:29 BeRtHa'S tEaM
Maybe if my torterra didn't suicide in 2 turns with woodhammer
torterra is great with the right team and moveset. in addition to earthquake and woodhammer, i use leech seed (or synthesis) and curse (along with big root as a held item). that really optimizes his bulk and makes speed less of an issue because he can take a hit. I also used a Lopunny with agility and baton pass and a Bronzong with trick room so I had setups to mitigate his speed issue. He tore through half of Cynthia's team no problem
When you just decided to restart platinum again. Perfect timing
Why would you use Iron Tail on Togekiss? Fairy type isn't a thing yet in gen IV
I think he meant Thunderfang to deal with Togekiss
Pretty sure you meant Thunder Fang for Togekiss and the Iron Tail was more implied to deal with rock types if you need to.
He was talking about thunder fang dummy
First of all, Torterra is my favorite mon from Gen 4.
And after having said that, in Platinum you can get Gible in the Cave that has an entrance exactly below the Cycling Path. In Platinum you do NOT need Strength to access the place where Gible is located and I think you can also find Earthquake there as well.
As for my team:
- Torterra.
- Ponyta / Houndoum.
- Bibarel for the HM Slave.
- I prefer Crobat than Staraptor.
- Guarados.
- The Sphinx line I guess.
Him:don’t fight flint with torterra that’s dumb
Me litteraly whooping his ass with my level 80 torterra as I’m watching
I'm actually doing that
Really? 😂😂😂😂😂
Why is your torterra so over leveled
Ground types quite the charm!
bruh i litteraly do that yesterday not only flint but also lucian and half of cynthia's team (including garchomp)😂
Level 60 Gyarados - dragon dance, waterfall, ice fang + another move of your choice. Holding leftovers.
I swept Cynthia's entire team with that.
Yeah gyarados is probably the best Pokémon to counter cynthias garchomp since it doesn’t have rock coverage, gyarados’ intimidate makes tanking garchomps physical attacks easier, and ice fang hits garchomp really hard especially if you use dragon dance.
Trying to grind to that level is a huge pain though, I gave up at level 48 (and somehow beat cynthia)
My team I used recently was
Torterra
Gengar(my favorite as you can see)
Vespiquen( I got lucky finding a female combeee)
Gardevoir
Octillery
Houndoom
Now thats a creative team I heard of in a while!
Mine was the standard sinnoh team, torterra, staraptor, luxray (my favourite pokemon), floatzel, lucario and weavile
Wait but he doesn't have a flyer
Im surprised of Lickilicky being on this team
He keeps saying Lick Licky
I've been playing this team for a couple days now, and Luckily has been doing really well. Sort of a tanky mixed attacking swiss army knife.
I'm not it's really actually a good Pokemon despite being a underrated good stats almost all around and capable of removing any status effects on it just give it a leftover and it's basically a very pudgy wall.
Ambipom is better
cesar alberto sanchez barranco I mean it really fast and hits hard it every frail
Pokémon
Torterra(Ugh):Wood Hammer.Earthquake.Crunch.Rock Slide
Staraptor:Close Combat.Fly.Brave Bird.Take Down(Return with max happiness)
Gallade:Psycho Cut/Psychic.Close Combat/Brick Break.Leaf Blade.Earthquake/Night Slash
Gyrados:Bite.Waterfall.Ice Fang.Dragon Dance
Lickylicky:Return.Surf.Ice Beam/Flamethrower.Thunderbolt
Houndoom:Flamethrower.Iron Tail.Thunder Fang.Crunch/Dark Pulse
If you’re up for it, you could remove Gallade and use Toxicroak. As for a replacement, that’s up to you, but I think it’d be a pretty alright Pokemon! For a move set, I recommend:
- Sludge Bomb
-Close Combat / Cross Chop
-X-Scissor
-Knock - Off
Benny why knock off? It’s only got twenty power in gen 4. You’d probably be better off using sucker punch or even theif, since you also get to keep the item.
Also, cross chop is an egg move, which they’re not using, and it doesn’t learn close combat
Benny also poison jab would be better seeing as it’s attack is much better than it’s special attack
Close combat is also an egg move, better off with lucario, if you want to be efficient
Sludge bomb could be replaced with poison jab
Lol " one more thing " - nice to know we all had the same childhood
My team for torterra is
Torterra
Staraptor
Floatzel
Froslass
Bastiodon
Toxicroak
I like the team, but isn't Froslass a bit weak due to ghost?
Floatzel is trash dude
What water type do you then advise?
@@zieverinkpatrick Either Gyarados (as Mystic said) or Gastrodon.
Patrick Zieverink I mostly use it for preference and not strategy, but it’s okay versus Bertha and Lucian at the elite 4
This is my team for Sinnoh:
Torterra
Staraptor
Luxray
Floatzel
Houndoom
Lucario
This team kicked ass!!! One of my favorite team so far
T'is my team too! They're amazing!
Exactly the same, but with Lopunny and togekiss instead of houndoom and staraptor
cool!
-torterra lv.40 male
cut, withdraw, wood hammer and earthquake
-togekiss lv.41 male
fly, yawn, aerial ace (will replace) and aura sphere
-luxray lv.40 female
roar, leer, bite and thunder fang
-lucario lv.40 female
quick attack, screech, aura sphere and flash cannon
-alakazam lv46 female
(over leveled because i was using her to level grind riolu/lucario because special attack evs and hoping that would cause lucario's to go up if it even works that way? let me know if i'm wrong or not)
focus blast, calm mind, psychic and shadow ball
eventually i want to get a glaceon to deal with cynthia's garchomp which has
shadow ball, blizzard, water pulse and i don't know what the 4th move should be? any ideas? :/
@Queen Peppyclaws I know my comment is late but I think the last move for glaceon should be quick attack because that move is underrated and it can come in handy in key battles
Sometimes I wonder if MysticUmbreon would prefer running Platinum with 6 magikarps than with 6 Torterras.
Hey if you want just copy paste this into a notepad of some sort so you dont have to rewind the whole video just to remember it
Torterra - Wood hammer Earthquake Crunch Rock Slide
Staraptor - Close Combat Fly Brave Bird Take Down
Gallade - Psycho Cut Close Combat Leaf Blade Earthquake
Gyarados - Bite Waterfall Ice Fang Dragon Dance
LickLicky - Strength Surf Flamethrower Thunderbolt
Houndoom - Flamethrower Iron Tail Thunder Fang Crunch
my problem with torterra is not it's speed, but lack of grass options to back up it's great attack stat, it's special attack is a joke at 75, and there are only four grass moves to use with it's physical attack even to this day in gen 7, and only one of those moves is gotten via level up Razor Leaf, the other moves are Wood Hammer (which requires a Heart Scale), Seed Bomb (Move Tutor), and Bullet Seed (which is only available in the gen 4 games as a TM), but why would you even bother with the last one, another problem is Platinum compared to D/P definitely makes things harder for this thing, since two gym leaders, Crasher Wake and Volkner have counter measures on their platinum teams to deal with it, when it should have an easy time taking on both.
I agree with the torterra part since he is a favorite grass starter but with the last part I think it deserves a pass since platinum is overall a great game and it challenges you more with some gym leaders getting new pokemon so you gotta be more creative
I love it when he shits on Torterra about not being good in the game it's in but Chikorita is his fav starter lmfao
I love torterra, my least favourite is infernape,
no hate pls

This was awesome! Torterra is my fav Sinnoh starter and in def gonna try this Team one day! But as for right now with the current playthrough Im doing of platinum, my team is:
- Torterra
- Staraptor
- Spiritomb
- Garchomp
- Lucario
- Magmortar
The final four being Pokémon I’ve never used in an actual playthrough before. I’ve used all these Pokémon, but just not the final four in a platinum run. And this team has been great! Other members I used previously during this run were Floatzel, Luxray, Kricketune (hilarious in game cry and first time using one).
Mystic: This is my least favorite starter of all time.
Me: **Reloads LMG with religious intent**
Instead of Bite on Gyarados, use Earthquake! Super effective Bite is just as powerful as neutral STAB Waterfall, so it won't help you much, while ground is a great offensive type that counters the only weakness of gyarados
Have you heard about this?
*X Speed*
😑😑😑😑😑😑😑
Have you heard of Ice Beam?
So happy Lickilicky got some love. It is my favorite Gen 4 Normal type and has access to a lot of good moves. I remember seeing it in the Darkrai movie and it was so goofy that it became one of my favorite Sinnoh Pokémon.
7:10 doesn’t Barry have Infernape?
Psycho cut
With 125 attack and 65 special attack on Galade, why the hell would u wait for non-stab special only 60 damage magical leaf on Kirlia???
Is it a good idea to sub gyrados for vaporeon?
Tbh, they totally overlooked picking up a Shinx in the super early game, Luxray is such a cool electric type Pokémon to have on your team, especially considering how early you can get it.
It's cool, but not that good. The only decent physical electric move it learns is Thunder Fang. Also Shinx with no-STAB Tackle is pretty painful in the early game.
Catch these hands Torterra best starter. It's a *powerful* boi.
Garchomp is nice but why 2 ground types.
played Platinum in DraStic so I have:
Torterra
Gyarados
Staraptor
Lucario
Luxray

It has an awesome design and it’s a bulky mon. It’s like saying tyranitar is terrrible because it’s slow, but it has bulk to make it survivable. Not saying torterra is as good as tyranitar, but it’s speed being low doesn’t make it terrible necessarily.
Justin Ahlquist I kinda feel like he’s over exaggerating torterra’s slow speed.
gyarados is the real mvp because it can destroy cynthia's entire team. the moveset should be waterfall, dragon dance, earthquake, and ice fang. set up when spiritomb is out and after 6 dragon dances you can destroy her team.
Should I get Gyarados as a secondary water type if I chose Piplup as starter?
no you wont use one then
I actually used Crobat as my Flying type.
Yyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeesssssss

Torterra
Staraptor
Garchomp
Luxray
Floatzel
Hippowdon

Cough Cough
*Rock Polish*
Do not check my profile description. Cough cough trick room
@@ultimaterecoil1136 you think even with rock polish it would outrun a Weavile and Ice Punching it?
Gyarados carries in sinnoh. Literally can wipe out thousands of mons with dragon dance and a physical moveset. That's why I love using it so much.
Land turtle... you mean a tortoise?
Just slap a quick claw (or choice scarf if available) on that Torterra and then you got a possibly speedy tank with the dopest design of all starters. It’s design is asymmetrical, something more Pokémon really need, and it gives you the ground coverage also.
My team for Torterra:
Torterra
Gastrodon
Drifblim
Rapidash
Jolteon
And Weavile
The best moveset is already used by Barry in Platinum, Endeavor, Double Team, Quick Attack, Ariel Ace(Best Moveset without coverage), with coverage it'll be Close Combat and Roost replacing with two of the moveset you like.
Say licklicky one more time
@Nick Cruz lick licky
Gallad is doing torterra job with leaf blade and earthquake I will use gallad but not the move pool for it
U still need to make a Venusuar,Typhlosion,Feraligtyr and Swampert edition
Torterra's actually my favourite Sinnoh starter
Key is to run Curse a few times, he'll tank like mental
Yeah speed's an issue but to paraphrase the anime - "You're dealing with a defensive type", hence why Paul's was a beast and Ash's... well... wasn't
torterra gets rock polish. speed literally isnt an issue for him, as hes bulky enough where 9/10 times hell pull it off and outspeed everything that threatens him.
Mystic was holding up on us
I recently did a playthrough of Platinum and chose Torterra as that was the starter I chose when I first played. Torterra's earthquake has been the carry of my team. During double battles, he is teamed with a Staraptor, which makes earthquake that much better. When I first played, I had regretted choosing Torterra so much that I started a new game when I couldn't beat the 7th gym because I was too lazy to actually grind.
Actually, Torterra is my favorite starter in Platinum haha i always choose the grass type
Here's my favorite 4g team:
Torterra:
- Wood hammer
- Giga Drain (and then, Seed bomb)
- Earthquake
- Rock Climb (and then, Outrage)
Staraptor:
- Fly
- Brave Bird
- Close Combat
- Quick Attack
Floatzel:
- Surf (and then, Hydro tail)
- Aqua-Jet
- Crunch
- Ice Punch
Rotom:
- Thunderbolt
- Confuse Ray
- Shadow Nall
- Uproar
Gliscor:
- Fire Fang
- Earthquake
- X-scissor
- Stone Edge
Lucario:
- Aurasphere
- Close combat
- Extremespeed
- Draco pulse
Weavile :
- Night Slash
- Ice Punch
- Metal Claw
- Poison Jab
Platinum is also the only game in which I build a team of 7 pokemon
I train them all at the same time leaving one of them at the pension
And switching them as needed

Suggestions for the BW Samurott and Serperior:
Samurott Team:
1. Samurott
2. Stoutland
3. Swoobat
4. Krookodile
5. Darmanitan
6. Ferrothorn
Serperior team
1. Serperior
2. Stoutland
3. Swoobat
4. Seismitoad
5. Darmanitan
6. Vanillux
There's not too many in the original BW games, but I grew up with these so I know some good coverage with these guys. And Mystic, if you're wondering why I chose some over others you might've thought of, here are some reasons;
-Swoobat has a base 114 speed compaired to Sigilyphs' 97 speed. Sure Woobat has much less Sp Atk than Sigilyph, but it still has some nice STAB moves for the game and can do away with Bianca's/Cheren's Pignite/Emboar and Cheren's Serperior.
-Seismitoad is a great water and ground type, while not having much in terms of coverage, it shuts down Elisa's Volt Switch tactics greatly and Tympole evolves rather fast
-Vanillux because flying type coverage
I can't think of any other, but I would appreciate if you gave these some thoughts.
Move set for Staraptor is trash. Better one would be Brave Bird, Return, Close Combat, U turn
Personally I would run EQ (over bite) on Gyarados and Night Slash (over EQ) on Gallade.
Lickilicki is just an odd choice. I would go with something cool like a porygon Z or eevee-lution of choice.
Aji Olit not really
This is the only video anyone ever needs to see.
I went Torterra, Luxray, Staraptor, Garchomp, Floatzel and Heracross. I was fine without a fire type somehow 😂
Gen 4 was my first region I loved it

The way he said lickylicky and no she said it so many times is so funny! XD
Who's the best legendary in you guy's opinion?
Giratina
Mewtwo, and it's *NOT* because it's Gen 1, but because of the lore, the stats, and oh boi, the moveset
Rayquaza
In my opinion its Mewtwo, but I respect all legendaries
Lugia or Giratina
I’m going to be re-playing Pokemon Diamond very soon.
I plan on using Torterra, Staraptor, Floatzel, Rapidash, Lucario and Garchomp.
I’d also like to add that Torterra is much better than people make it out to be. It can destroy both Infernape and Empoleon with Earthquake, it also the only starter Pokemon that doesn’t have a weakness to possibly the strongest Pokemon in the game - Cynthia’s Garchomp.
It may lack in speed, but it makes up for in incredible Attack and Defense stats.
