As many people pointed out, Monferno can handle Roark's team with Mach Punch, so you wouldn't need that. If you wanna argue having it for Gardenia, I get it.

In an ideal world, I'm hoping to use Torterra/Yanmega/Carnivine/Bastiodon/Quagsire/Drifblim. First four are ones I've never used yet really like, haven't used Drifblim since my first ever Pokemon game, and Quagsire is my all-time fav. I love my derpy salamander boi.

You don't get the stone edge tm until after fighting Cyrus. You could use the rock slide tm from Mt. Coronet or teach Infernape thunder punch from the move tutor on Route 212.

Alakazam is dangerous in any region you can get it, because as long as you can counter or keep it away from it's weaknesses it will slaughter just about anything else that looks at it wrong. Still remember Team Four Star using one with a similar moveset to the one mystic posted (albeit Shadow Ball over Focus miss) swept cynthia after 5 calm minds despite her pokemon being at higher levels.

Gyarados is such a cheat code in playthroughs especially since the physical special split that it almost seems unfair kind of like with staraptor and Excadrill
@@Zxeyious you'll have one for Volkner it'll sweep, and for the league it's good against Aaron with Rock Slide or Stone Edge, Flint, Lucian with Crunch and for Bertha it can Earthquake. For Cynthia Spiritomb has no weaknesses, so use Swords Dance and EV trained it's speed while grinding and it'll sweep (idk if u can get Swords Dance TM before the league but it can still kill most of Cynthia's mons without Swords Dance)
I highly suggest that you replace signal beam with tri attack because of 1. Stab 2. Bug is only good against grass and dark but you already have ice beam for grass and most important draj type that you have to fight in this game are either part fire or poison
Bug is also good against psychic but i agree that tri attack is stupidly good, especially because Porygon has adaptability. So tri attack damage is effectively doubled. I'd even argue to just have 2 coverage moves and have both tri attack and hyper beam. Porygon-Z with adaptability has the most powerful hyperbeam in the game. Its base damage is 300 while coming from the massive 135 base special attack!!!
Not a fan of Empoleon or Abomasnow, but the rest are awesome. My platinum team is: - Infernape - Honchkrow - Gyarados - Garchomp - Roserade - Jolteon I'm about to challenge the elite 4.

Before fairy was introduced, dialga was always a no brainer for me (for a non restriction team).. the typical box art leg. stats combined with the amazing type of dragon steel only weak to dragon was just amazing
I have some other candidates to this team. Garchomp is really obvious, Giratina also is really good (I supose being No Restrictions means legendaries are allowed) and Blissey, if used correctly, it can null any special attacker through its massive special bulk, Serene Grace and Charge Beam combo, healing with Soft-boiled and great special movepool. Pokémon Challenges has a video talking on why did he ban Blissey from its Nuzlocke challenges, so think how broken is it.

Infernape (Starter) Staraptor (Flyer and obvious pick) Roserade (Helpful for Crasher Wake and much of the game) Garchump (Duh) Azumarill (Get one with huge power, get 2 red and 4 blue shards, teach it dive at the route 212 moove tutor, and you've got a monster of a water type) Weavile (Excellent late-game) This team i feel has much better typings and i think works better in-game. But again, feel free to share your ideas with me.

Mine is Infernape, Jolteon, Crobat, Garchomp, Scizor, and Gastrodon. Cynthia was a walk in the park with this team.

Dusknoir is great, but Mismagius and Spiritomb have a better movepool. Spiritomb was epic in gen IV because it had no weaknesses.
Spiritomb is hard to obtain and mismagius is not available in platinum

I would do bite instead of surf for Gyarados. That way you have something that flinches other Pokémon
Surf is an important HM, and bite doesn't always guarantee flinching. Besides, waterfall also causes flinching.
