Hey guys I just updated the description with the tutor move guide for shards and the heartscales guide for move relearner! I also forgot to give our water mon surf lol. I am so used to playing more modern pokemon with no hms.
Platinum and Heartgold always spoke to me in a way i imagine traveling back to your homeland is like. They'll forever be my favorite games :)
I allways replay them, and trade between my 2 DS:s. So I can get a whole new team every time
Ive been doing starterless runs for every game, its fun cuz you get to use mons youd never get to if you kept the starter
I used corviknight for my 2nd play through of violet
i had more freedom to create a team in BDSP than I do in DP or Platinum. No more HMs locked on pokemon really helped. Hideaways gave some good options. I can even add Mew or Jirachi to my team if I wanted. I always keep the Sinnoh starter in my team because i generally don't like boxing my starter. Never felt right in my opinion.
Staraptor is my all time favorite pokemon. So glad to see it get love
I'm excited to watch this. I've been asking for a No starter team for years because then it removes all the confusion of which starter to choose
Also recommend gliscor as a physical ground option - this thing is great and easy enough to obtain by catching gligar and evolving it at night with the razor fang you get after veilstone city
My current playthrough is 6 eggs i traded in. Tyranitar, Cacturne, Sharpedo, Honchcrow, Houndoom, and Weavile.
A mono dark team is really solid

The only time I’ve ever ditched my starter was in black and white 2. My ace in the unova games was always Chandelure so it’s always been my strongest. All of the unova starters have pokemon that are better. I once picked oshawott as my starter then replace it with huge power Azumarill and it was really good. But then I realized that Oshawott has access to water moves way sooner than Azumarill. After that I never replaced my starter again.

Great video! I got a starterless Kalos run planned with Pyroar, Gyarados, Aerodactyl, Tyrantrum, Talonflame and Steelix. It will be my first starterless run!
Rock types are a big problem for that team, four members are weak to it

I love running flamethrower, dark pulse, thunder fang and iron tail on Houndoom and having rock climb in Mamoswine’s fourth slot comes in handy
I love doing non starter teams. Started doing same type teams when getting a wider selection Pokémon was a lot easier in gen 8 and it was a blast

I'm more & more ditching my Starter asap when I play Pokémon. The biggest exception is my Crystal Legacy Chicorita.

I think it'd be great to make a best teams video for Scarlet and Violet for all the non gen 9 starters, not a team of starters but a team for each of the starters separately. Trying to keep the teams unique with only some reoccuring members from each separate team since they are available in the Indigo Disk and can easily be hatched into eggs and placed in Pokémon Home for a playthrough.
Best Team for Swampert
Best Team for Totodile
Best team for Incineroar
Etc etc, use mons from the dlcs in an almost no restrictions like fashion, barring legendaries still of course. Idk, it just seems like a good way to keep the series going with a lot of potential.
I love these best teams videos! I always put them on a playlist and put them on repeat every now-and-then. I love making different team options so yes please make more. Speaking of, you made a few videos for team (type) team for every game but I think only for 8 types. I guess you just got bored of those? I'm only asking because it's a bit of an OCD trigger for me. I'm fine if you don't want to continue with that series but I'm just curious for the reasoning.

The one and only time I ditched my starter was Hisuian Typhlosion in Legends Arceus. Just didn’t like how it looked so I went and got an Infernape. I wanted to ditch Delphox so bad when I could have gotten a Mega Charizard but I didn’t.

I am pretty sure for the Dawn stone thing, at least in platinum, there is one near Pastoria city in the bottom right corner of one those marshy mud things.
If you ever do GSC/HGSS, I would love to see you include postgame mons found only in Kanto such as Houndour and Sneasel specifically, as they will probably never get featured there as they are never usable during the main quest. I'm using a Sneasel/Weavile in my HG team right now (from an egg I traded over).
Not having Surf on a single member of your team sounds painful in Platinum.
…I have never thought to use ABILITIES to strategize against playthrough battles! Only like raid battles. Basically just power through. Mind blown.

correction: Medicham doesn't get huge power, but does get "pure power" which does something similar.
If only feebas wasn’t so difficult to find, Milotic would’ve been a great choice. But I love Milotic so much and I’ve fished for Feebas before and I’ll do it again if I ever decide to get another copy of platinum. I’m not about to delete my current save file. I’m trying to get all gold prints at the battle frontier.
The lottery system works for easily finding feebas. Little Google search will have you Milotic'n in no time

Ive actually done that planty of times and im doing it right now as well on my Soulsilver playtrough and its alot of fun to use pokemon ive never used before. My team on soulsilver is:
Absol (breed it from Platinum and replaced my Soulsilver starter with that)
Kangaskhan
Lapras
Magneton
Xatu
Ninetales
Im very proud of my team and fun to see how good a pokemon ive never used before can be.
As someone who doesn't really care for Galar's starters, I'd love to see what that team would look like!
I think since legends arceus introduced being able to catch Pokémon without battling outside of a safari zone it’s about time they make a game where we aren’t given a starter but berries stun items and pokeballs and our first task is to go to the wild area and catch our own “Starter”

I had the same idea for b2w2 and i settled on stoutland,leavanny,magnazone,golduck,arcanine/ninetales,and unfezant. I know that last ones controversial but it does have access to good physical moves.
Ps I think that any playthrough should have ten pokemon in rotation so the next four are krookodile,an eeveelution of choice,renucleus,and haxorus.

So this is just for Platinum. For those of us who only have access to Diamond and Pearl, would a Team of Staraptor, Luxray, Gastrodon, Medicham, Rapidash and Weavile suffice?

If u have gyarados with dragon dance or Gliscor with swords Dance, u basically destroy Cynthia. This is probably her only biggest weakness. I'm glad that Garchomp doesn't get dragon dance lol.

gallade is equal or better than medicham in every regard other than defense, which is only 10 points lower. considering huge power, it still has higher attack. feel like it's strictly better

Not entirely especially for ingame I don't think it's needed, but it can help!
Only in competitive play. On a normal playthrough it's not an issue at all.
for comp play its crucial, for hardcore nuzlocking its very helpful, but for normal gameplay it doesnt matter

I genuinely don't get this love for Staraptor... I tried using it, and it's just bad... Togekiss is the far superior option in my eyes.
I always ditch my starter after they get to final Evo I just don't like starter pokemon in general I actually made a rom hack like 20.years where you weren't given a starter cos you played as the safari zone wardens granddaughter from gen 2 and you were sent to the safari zone to start the game and so you got to catch any pokemon you want to use as your "Starter" I just made it so more pokemon appeared in the safari zone and lowered all there lvls to 5

Honestly having a stater all the way through is so overplayed. Like I get the semi emotional connection people get with their starters, but at some point you gotta switch it up. As long as you have two of every Nintendo handheld and other Pokemon version games, why not be as creative as you can be with team building?

To be fair the Sinnoh dex sucks so much that a region exclusive team would still be extremely predictable. I can make one off the top of my head not because I know gen 4 but because they're SO common on gen 4 teams: Staraptor, Luxray, Lucario, Garchomp, Floatzel, Roserade.
@@suiway even so its only sinnoh pokemon and thats the most sinnoh experience. Wanna use kanto pokemon? Use then in kanto. Team build from exlusive pokemon to the region is the best way to experience the region. I mean you can transfer pokemon to start journey with proper team. Ever since johto it was the way to go. Transfer the full team of 6 and go with them. Have elekid and magby from the start. Its a shame sinnoh has only two flyers as flayer has to be physical to make use of fly.
Yes this dex has not many options for various teams but you can use other pokemon than luxray like Lopunny which is far better and in platinum Loppuny on its own is Cynthias ban. Theres ambipom vespiquen drapion and so many other high quality pokemon. Especislly ambipom is born cut user with stab and technician cut is a proper move.
Hell technician is made for weaker moves so rock smash as well would do great on ambipom. There is also the thing which i think was brilliant to use pokemon as other types just like npcs in dp to mix it up.

This is specifically *Platinum*, not just gen 4. You cant get houndoom before the post game in Pearl or at all in Diamond.

Particularly I think that a best moveset for Staraptor is:
Fly
Brave Bird/Aerial Ace
Return
Close Combat.
More often than not I caught my self don't wanna use Fly because of its 2 turns. Having a second Flying STAB really comes in handy and the Steel Coverage its not that useful since it has Close Combat, that covers pretty much the same types (Ice and Rock), but Close Combat covers the Steel type as well
At this point I feel like you're just straight up refusing to put Luxray on a best team

Never get tired of people lowkey dunking on D/P dex by treating Platinum as the automatic/default Sinnoh game, and how much it upsets people if you talk about anything related to Sinnoh without treating Platinum as the default game, or with out including it at all.
