I'd like to comment as well as throw in some well deserved honorable mentions. First, thanks to the grand underground we have access to alot of pokemon which were otherwise hard to come by. For example as you said with toxicroak being in the marsh, he can be found in the underground as early as veil stone when obtaining the gear. Gible can also be found in a hidden cave under the cycling path as early as the sixth badge having strength. Will it be rough to catch up a pokemon level 15 with your team, yes. Worth it, also yes. Dont believe me, ask cynthia. While I do agree with most of these, I still feel some pokemon deserve mentions. Empoleon. Its steel typing makes it valuable with the inclusion of the fairy typing. While there is many other steel types, this one resists fire and can counter ground and fighting types making it only really weak to electric. It's only drawback is you'll have bubble beam and or brine for awhile. Gliscor. While it is rare and you come across it quite late unless your lucky in the swamp areas in the underground, its essentially the landorus of this gen. Flying and ground is 2 immunities and with access to earthquake on level up now and reintroducing roost, why wouldn't you use it? Plus hidden ability toxic heal makes it a wall, especially to garchomp Gardevoir. I'm a little annoyed you went with clefable over it despite it being good competitively, in game gardevoirs fairy typing makes it a monster. Coupled with its psychic typing, it reduces alot of threats, and team galactic...pfft, not a chance. The last one id like to mention is Honchcrow. Its typing is great, though not as tanky as mandibuzz, more of a glass cannon, anyway, this guy hits hard. I didn't hesitate when I found my first dusk stone in the underground to evolve mine and its carried me. I caught a few murkrow early on and bred them with the moves I wanted(bravebird, haze) and hes been very reliable in my first playthrough. Also dark is my favorite typing so, gotta stick to it.
The fact that I’ve played platinum so many times that I’ll MAYBE use one of these I wanna try stuff like Skunktank or Bronzong, something I haven’t used
After getting the game, I've been having fun with Absol with the higher crit chance ability, night slash, with focus energy and/or swords dance to really do some damage. It's a bit frail, but it's very satisfying one shotting Pokemon that have boosted defense! If you haven't tried it, give it a shot I'd say! You can catch them easily underground at a decent level so there's little investment:)
In my platinum playthrough, I never used Infernape. I'm gonna use it this time around. Staraptor will always be my flyer. Not sure if I'm gonna have Luxray on my team. One of my favorite electric types but also overly used. Not sure what my other team members will be.
@@cystyx4392 oooooooo, I completely forgot about Gastrodon. Solid member to have. Definitely my 3rd member. Thanks. I have to look to see who else to add. I want something different instead of using the same old team over and over again.
Unfortunately you probably will have luxray on your team because your only other options for an electric type during the main game are pikachu and pachirisu. For other members of your team if you want less “popular” choices maybe consider cherrim, mismagius, bastiodon or purugly. Roserade and medicham are also good options.
Can’t wait for your BDSP best team video! I have a team for SP in mind, but I’m kind of iffy on BD. I’m currently using my first Diamond team, but the moveset for some of those mons leaves something to be desired. Current team: Empoleon, Staraptor, Luxray, Roserade, Lucario, Rapidash. Any ideas?
I have no idea what my team is going to be. I've used infernape and empoleon, but never started with turtwig. This'll be a fun playthrough with Turtwig I think.
Pair Torterra with Staraptor and then maybe a strong Psychic type and that will be all you need for the entire game. Those typings destroy a majority of the game.
I'm trying a different team this time around. I always used Torterra as my starter, sometimes Empoleon. So my team for BD is gonna be Infernape, Raichu, Staraptor (I normally used murkrow), Quagsire, Gardevoir, and Magnezone
For your water type you could actually use Manaphy, from the mystery gift distribution right now. Manaphy is the same as Jirachi and Mew stats-wise. It is really good and having Tail Glow as an egg move you are in for the win, it can destroy foes in a sec. Yes it's mythical but a really great option for different water type for people who don't like rough looking Pkmn like Gyarados.

Thank you so much for these recommendations. I just won a bid for a like new copy of Brilliant Diamond on ebay and wanted to go for Piplup as my starter, but on second thought I'll go with Chimchar knowing that it's the best fire type of its generation.
I'm having a tough call between using Manaphy or Gyarados for my Shining Pearl playthrough. Gyarados gets Dragon Dance, and the Speed boost can be very useful, but Manaphy gets Tail Glow (which is once again usable in BDSP). Tail Glow is apparently known from the start, so Manaphy will be able to sweep as soon as its level catches up to the rest of the team. The only downside is that Manaphy can't boost its Speed like Gyarados can, although Tail Glow's dramatic SpA boost (and Manaphy's natural bulk) should make up for this. I've already decided to start with Chimchar, mainly because I did plan to use Manaphy for my Water-type, but Gyarados also seems to have its merits just because Dragon Dance is so good. I'll probably go with Manaphy just because the Manaphy Egg is a time-limited event, so if I were to ever restart my save, I wouldn't get this opportunity. My only concern is having such a powerful Pokémon so early on, but I could also argue that Gyarados is pretty powerful even with its level only in the early 20s (it learns Waterfall at Lv. 21). I also want to use a pseudo-legendary for my SP team, and I'm a little divided on whether to use Garchomp or Salamence here. That said, I think the decision is easy: Gabite is pretty useful even in its middle-stage, whereas Shelgon is lackluster until it evolves into Salamence at Lv. 50. Technically, Shelgon has a higher Attack stat (base 95) and a good Defense stat (base 100), but it only has base 50 Speed. Gabite, on the other hand, has base 82 Speed (which is good enough), base 90 Attack, and most importantly, dual Dragon/Ground STAB. Unfortunately, the level at which the Gible line learns Dig and Dragon Claw has increased considerably since the original DPPt, although if the Earthquake TM can be taught soon after obtaining Gible, things might be okay.
I decided to use cherrim and chimecho. Cherrim can surprisingly tank some hits, and outspeeds a lot. Granted, your primarily going for sunny day, so theres that
How can you make Bibarel relearn Aqua Jet right away isn't the move relearner in Pastoria city? If following the level curve Bidoof should evolve around the time of the Windworks event but Pastoria city is the location of the fourth gym, almost mid-way through the game.

I'm still more set on Togekiss. But, I'll just save that one for Brilliant Diamond and experiment with Clefable in Shining Pearl. I'll give Clefable this much; Mystic called it with the wider move pool.
I would honestly argue that togekiss is better than clefable, considering it gets air slash as it evolves and you can teach it dazzling gleam and flamethrower immediately due to those tms being available to buy in Velistone City. It also just has slightly better offensive stats to clefable. While I agree Togepi to Togetic is a grind, you can get togekiss before the 6th gym, which is pretty good.
My Roserade was very useful at the E4, dealt the final blow to Cynthia's Garchomp and taking final damage thanks to rough skin leaving my Luxray as the only surviving member. I don't use Zubat a lot cause it's a pain in every cave in nearly all generations but i have gotten a shiny of it a few times and being a Crobat i was able to outspeed a lot of other pokemon, also was able to take more than one thunder punch from Flint's Infernape so i was just spamming potions until it couldn't t-punch anymore.
Since when do we have to have a fire type on the team? Idk why people make such a big deal out of it, just teach a pokemon fire fang/punch and your fine
What’s funny is that was partially my team in platinum. Infernape, Luxray, Staraptor, and Gastrodon. I forgot my other 2. These 4 pokemon are basically the stars of Sinnoh.

@@Roddy425 I did debate if I should include Garchomp in the main team, but I found out that its typing wasn't needed as often as Lucario's steel type and Gardevoir's typing.
@@coqui9879 I did originally have Gyarados on the list of pokemon I considered including, because I thought he was water/dragon first. He probably would have been booted even if he was water/dragon once I saw that Garchomp was dragon/ground, as ground is also one of the typings that comes into play more often than water.

That’s a really solid team. I wouldn’t go for Mismagius, as you already have a ghost type in Froslass. I’d recommend going with Tangrowth, or maybe even Roserade, as it’s the best grass type option imo. Aside from that, the only thing I feel a need to mention is that Froslass (which I love and plan to use) can’t be obtained until quite late, you catch its pre-evolution around the 7th gym. And if my memory serves is correct, in the original games the item that you need for Magmortar was post-game, but it may be easier to get now. I also don’t like Empoleon, but that’s a personal thing with a whole backstory. Objectively it’s a very good mon. Overall, I think it’s a great team with a lot of cool mons.

Here is a way to decide on either infernape or empoleon Take a coin and flip it If it lands on heads then it's infernape If it lands on tails then it's empoleon
I really want to use Mew and Jirachi as soon as I play one of those games because I never caught a Mew before and I wanted one for a long time and because really love Jirachi but I'm thinking I'll use Mew more.
No offense but basing these videos on gen 7 movesets when they got updated makes it abit moot. Also Bibarel struggles hard due to lack of physical move coverage since his spec attack is hot garbage. Otherwise its a great mon, but thats banking on them finally giving him access toThunder Fang (since they can learn thunderbolt) Ice Fang (since they can learn ice beam), Liquidation and maybe Iron Head(since he learns headbutt), now they get Crunch already so Iron head is just added bonus. But yeah, in a generation with floatzel, who is a monster of a water type, Bibarel doesnt really have room to shine.
In all fairness he dosen't exactly have a whole lot more to go off of as far as movesets goes. I agree though it does make the movesets preety moot for the time being.

but the thing is, Gyarados and Staraptor both lack one big thing, they don't get Drizzle Hurricane like the Chad Pelliper
No matter how good they are, I will never forgive pelliper
For the torture they put me through during my Sun and Moon play throughs
Pelliper was underrated in gen 3 fosho.
Great recommendations. 4/6 members of my planned team are on that list including both infernape and clefable.
Plus hidden ability toxic heal makes it a wall, especially to garchomp
Gardevoir.
I found croagunk straight out of eterna lol
Empoleon is dope
Thanks bro, really enjoy the video. Got some early tips for the upcoming game 😃
Been using that for ages, especially in ORAS, only drawback a certain Steven stone
In my platinum playthrough, I never used Infernape. I'm gonna use it this time around. Staraptor will always be my flyer. Not sure if I'm gonna have Luxray on my team. One of my favorite electric types but also overly used. Not sure what my other team members will be.
Gastrodon is always a fun water type, but it's part ground and can have the ability storm drain
@@cystyx4392 oooooooo, I completely forgot about Gastrodon. Solid member to have. Definitely my 3rd member. Thanks. I have to look to see who else to add. I want something different instead of using the same old team over and over again.
@@cystyx4392 only one weakness against Grass
Unfortunately you probably will have luxray on your team because your only other options for an electric type during the main game are pikachu and pachirisu. For other members of your team if you want less “popular” choices maybe consider cherrim, mismagius, bastiodon or purugly. Roserade and medicham are also good options.
@@coqui9879 electivire is also an option if you have brilliant diamond or can get someone to trade you one.
Any ideas?
I have just decided that I will be using the top 6 as my team! haha. Thanks Mystic :P
I have no idea what my team is going to be. I've used infernape and empoleon, but never started with turtwig. This'll be a fun playthrough with Turtwig I think.
I used him in Platinum long ago, he's very tanky and packs plenty punch. Decent move pool, just watch out for Ice Attacks lol
Pair Torterra with Staraptor and then maybe a strong Psychic type and that will be all you need for the entire game. Those typings destroy a majority of the game.
Torterra can be super fun for people who've never experienced him. I love the tanky stealth rock build with roar.
I remember destroying every Pokemon with Power-up punch and Crunch XD
I’ve decided I want to try: Garchomp, Arcanine, and (if it’s in the game) Sylveon on my team
Unfortunately sylveon didn't make it to the Gen 4 big leagues ;(
Eevee is post-game only.
i caught a zubat for fun and like 1 level after it turned into a golbat i got a crobat
Arcanine has always been good. Pseudo legendary
Sylveon didn’t make it
Forgot about the grand underground? A lot of these are easily accessible way earlier than in original D&P. Some good choices here nonetheless 👌🏽
I'm trying a different team this time around. I always used Torterra as my starter, sometimes Empoleon. So my team for BD is gonna be Infernape, Raichu, Staraptor (I normally used murkrow), Quagsire, Gardevoir, and Magnezone
Funny I was already planning on using clefable because I want to see how well a fairy type would work in shino
2:23 where the ranking starts, wow that's a long advertisement hahahahhaa
For your water type you could actually use Manaphy, from the mystery gift distribution right now. Manaphy is the same as Jirachi and Mew stats-wise. It is really good and having Tail Glow as an egg move you are in for the win, it can destroy foes in a sec. Yes it's mythical but a really great option for different water type for people who don't like rough looking Pkmn like Gyarados.
How do you get Manaphy?
@@cheyenne1188 as a Mystery Gift! Here's a video of how to access to the function and how to get the egg ruclips.net/video/3XhRzujk0r4/видео.html&ab_channel=GamerGuru

Just finished my nuzlocke on shining pearl with Torterra, Staraptor, Crobat, Gastrodon, Luxray, Roserade. This was a challenge and a half.
torterra underrated tho
How? Your team is broken
When you said Garchomp was a dragon and dark type, I spit my drink out
Infernape will definitely be my starter because he's damn awesome but so will Luxray. Idk why, but Luxray is almost as amazing as Infernape imo
Three of the Pokémon on the list are ones I used in my playthrough of Platinum and plan to use in BDSP.
I plan on using Empoleon, Roserade (always used whenever I played gen 4), clefable, garchomp, lophunny, and honchkrow cuz I’ve never used one before
Honestly I’m surprised you didn’t mention the raltz line especially with how early the dawn stones placement is in this game And how strong both gardivoir and gallade are hell I’m using both on my diamond and pearl team
I'm surprised too. Roserade and Gardevoir were the MVP of my group
So happy to be able to use mew. It's my favorite pokemon, and its pretty useful
saw a random driftloon outside valleywindworks while i played through, caught it and its a beast with my empoleon. the early shadowball access got me to the first 3 gyms easily. still hunting for a heracross for my 3rd mon
Thank you so much for these recommendations. I just won a bid for a like new copy of Brilliant Diamond on ebay and wanted to go for Piplup as my starter, but on second thought I'll go with Chimchar knowing that it's the best fire type of its generation.
Pretty Great list. Surprised that Luxray is absent.
I was thinking the same! that thing is a beast
I went through the same thing but I went with gyarados with jolly nature.
When I got manaphy it was a beast it carried in grass gym , ice gym and many others
I decided to use cherrim and chimecho.
Cherrim can surprisingly tank some hits, and outspeeds a lot. Granted, your primarily going for sunny day, so theres that
I look forward to your best team with Chimchar
Watch it be remastered lol
Honestly, you can get crogunk really early if you are willing to explore the underground
How can you make Bibarel relearn Aqua Jet right away isn't the move relearner in Pastoria city? If following the level curve Bidoof should evolve around the time of the Windworks event but Pastoria city is the location of the fourth gym, almost mid-way through the game.
Quick claw Azumarill, had it in Inclement Emerald and was one of the MVPs / fun pokemons to use
It’s strange but when I played first time Pokémon diamond I’ve got Toxiccroak and I didn’t know that he is rare
P.S. WHERE IS MY LUXRAY!!!
Changed: by the way, I played with Toxiccroak (and LUXRAY) till the very end
I'm going for a hard one boys and girls:
Infernape
togekiss
electivire
dusknoir
milotic
drapion
getting that milotic gonna take ages
Fire team dawg but u gotta use some other water pokemon up until milotic
Nice. I’m going for:
Infernape
Togekiss
Garchomp
Magnezone
Milotic
Weavile
I want milotic too
@@Max-gi2ef I actually learned how to get one quickly. feed your feebas 8 dry sweet poffins you buy in the basement of the department because those rapidly increase beauty. level up the feebas once and you have a milotic
My favorite Pokémon on my team currently is Mismagius! Thing is an absolute monster with ridiculous special attack and defense :)
Im doing a challenge run and its to use only unique pokemon ie not on gym leaders/galaxy admins/rivals teams and I was sighing that I'd have to use a bibarel and a clefable but this video made me pretty hyped to use them now.
Sixth maybe… I don’t know.
Love you mystic ❤️
My team:
Infernape
Togekiss
Roserade
Weavile
Gastrodon
Scizor
So we Twinin?
When I get shining pearl I’m gonna start it off as a water nuzlock
Personally I'd play through the game first then do special runs on a alt account after
oh yea now i remember why i skipped the video a few weeks ago was that super long ad for audible lol
Just beat the game a few hours ago with a total of 49 hours of playing time. Feel like that’s a lot but the battle with Cynthia had me puzzled my first run at the elite four.
There are more fire types available in the underground before the second gym, chimchar is no longer needed to have a good fire type.
But it’s arguably the best
i'm planning on not using the same 3 pokemon thats on everyone's team back then so my teams gonna be:
Empoleon, Gliscor
Weavile, Gallade
Magnezone, Roserade
Weavile is pretty common unfortunately if that's what you're trying to avoid
A solid line up
@@xubject8618 he’s trying to avoid: luxray, garchomp and staraptor
I’ve definitely used Toxicroak in sword and shield so I know how awesome it is
yk i was on and off with roserade but think i’m gonna continue my roselia hunt, and now i’ll put clefairy/clefable on the team :) i’ve always wanted a garchomp since cynthia kicked my ass w hers, so now i’m set on having it on my team!!
I am not going to use bibarel. My team for Brilliant Diamond
Empoleon
Luxray
Houndoom
Gardevoir
Mamoswine
Roserade
Gardevoir for the win!
EMPOLEON! Yeah!!
Glad to see Clefable getting some love. She's all ready on my pre-built team.
I'm still more set on Togekiss. But, I'll just save that one for Brilliant Diamond and experiment with Clefable in Shining Pearl. I'll give Clefable this much; Mystic called it with the wider move pool.

This was great. I stayed through the whole video and don’t even have a switch for the new games 😅😅
start my first ever nuzlocke on christmas! super excited
Feels like you made this video a dozen times already
Trying to stay away from the big 5 but I also wanna use Luxray since it’s one of my favorite
Since when do we have to have a fire type on the team? Idk why people make such a big deal out of it, just teach a pokemon fire fang/punch and your fine
Gyardos learns fire moves lol
I used the team I used in my platinum playthrough:
Infernape
Staraptor
Luxray
Gastrodon
Gardevoir
Garchomp
The nostalgia was real.
What’s funny is that was partially my team in platinum. Infernape, Luxray, Staraptor, and Gastrodon. I forgot my other 2. These 4 pokemon are basically the stars of Sinnoh.
infernape luxray roserade is an op trio
modest empoleon...
my team is prtty similar,
Infernape
Luxray
Starraptor
Gastrodon (moving onto gyrados soon)
Riolu
Roserade
Clefable
I was going to get a buizel or shellos as my water Pokémon but I got manaphy and I never had the opportunity of running the game with a legendary/mythical so I'm not losing that opportunity lol
Wow. Another great top 10! A few Pokémon I see you all picking on almost all the top 10 list. Geese! Lol 😆
My team will be:
Infernape, Staraptor, Roserade, Luxray, Lucario and Gardevoir. With Garchomp and Absol standing on the side line to switch in with every now and then when their typing is needed.
My team is the same as your but with bronzong and gyarados instead of Lucario and gardevoir
I have the same team as you except I switched out lucario and gardevoir with garchomp and gastrodon
But when I saw it was water/flying he got booted as Staraptor fills in the flying type and water isn't needed as much as Lucario's steel type and Gardevoir's typing. He probably would have been booted even if he was water/dragon once I saw that Garchomp was dragon/ground, as ground is also one of the typings that comes into play more often than water.
So, why is Candice's face covered and 'name redacted'? Some context would be nice (Please answer if you see this!).
Also a mistake: you listed Staraptor's placement at number 8, too, when it should be number 7.
This listing was nice. I cannot wait to see what you do once the new games come out. I get the feeling you'll do best teams for them soon enough. (Please say you will!)
It's due to a stupid joke that if I hear or see one more time I will put my head between a shark's jaw
The name is because of this format:
"Hey have you heard of candice?"
"Who's candice?"
"CANDICE BALLS FIT IN YO MOUTH!"
I don't find it funny btw
About a few days to start another sinnoh journey and im really going to enjoy using mightyena as a dark trainer
Still haven't decided what starter but I'm gonna use the event Manaphy, I know that for a fact.
Yea
Empoleon
Luxray
Mismagius/Tangrowth
Clefable
Froslass
Magmortar
New to Sinnoh, I think these mons look great
That’s a really solid team.
New to sinnoh in games
Torterra
Bibarel
Lucario
Garchomp
Quagsire

I was conflicted between Roserade and Luxray, but I think this convinced me to pick Roserade! I'm also really hyped to play with Houndoom again!
Fun fact: you can obtain croagunk from underground as early as the time you hit second gym
Roserade was so good for my BDSP playthrough. I hadn’t seen this video before I went through the game, but I had decided to use a bunch of Pokémon I’d never used before, and since Roserade was on that list and filled the role I wanted, she was chosen for the team. I never would have expected that she’d be such a hard carry for me though, but she carried my entire team on her back through Sinnoh until the Elite Four, where she passed the torch to my Mismagius, who soloed Cynthia after my back was pushed to the wall. This is what I play Pokémon for. Pamela the Roserade will forever be one of my absolute favourite Pokémon I’ve used in any Pokémon game to date.
I plan on using Garchomp as he is my favorite dragon. All the others I will not.
My team is going to be Empoleon, Houndoom, Togekiss, Magnezone, Garchomp, and either Mamoswine or Froslass
Omg, that is literally the exact team I planned on using
I want to try and use Pokémon I don’t usually run while playing a Sinnoh play through! I can’t decide if I want Infernape or Empoleon.
I’m going to try and avoid using Luxray, Garchomp or a HM slave.
I’m thinking of using: Staraptor, Roserade and Clefable and possibly Jirachi. Gyarados if I choose Infernape. I don’t know what other fire types are confirmed yet but I’d love to have a Ninetails or Arcanine if they are available.
You can get Houndour/Houndoom underground 👍
@@nicholascahill7751 I’m thinking of either getting a houndoom or Ninetails.
Here is a way to decide on either infernape or empoleon
Take a coin and flip it
If it lands on heads then it's infernape
If it lands on tails then it's empoleon
I really want to use Mew and Jirachi as soon as I play one of those games because I never caught a Mew before and I wanted one for a long time and because really love Jirachi but I'm thinking I'll use Mew more.
Gyarados now learns Waterfall at lvl 21. An absolute must have Pokemon on any team
Oh I waited for this since I need some recommendations
My team is:
Torterra
Weavile
Bibarel
Bronzong
Houndoom
Gengar
Make sure gengar has a poison type move so you don’t get washed by fairies, wait there’s bronzong you could be okay
Torterra
Alakazam
Elevire
Milotic
Magmotar
Honcrow
Great video!
It’s past 1 am and today is the day the games are out. Hopefully in the next two weeks we get the best teams for these games.
