I feel like Ramparados is still good, if you are able to train its speed because of its obscene attack stat. Pair with rock polish, and you can one shot basically any pokemon with its ability Mold Breaker.
I'll have to 100% agree with including Spiritomb. I was even going to use one on my team, but then found out interacting with other players underground isn't all that easy. You can't go up to them and press A to interact, so it's difficult to keep track of who you're talking to and how many people you've talked to. All you get is this weird call option where you make an image go over your head. Yeah, you can also talk to NPCs underground to contribute to that number, but after walking around a few times to find Togepi, I have only ever found one NPC not including the Hikers. Yeah, take it from someone who made somewhat of an attempt, don't bother with Spiritomb. You're better off breeding on in Sword and Shield and Banking it over to your games if you really need one. The method to get one there is SIGNIFICANTLY easier and less needlessly complicated. UPDATE: So...I ended up managing to get one. Turns out, in the post-game, you actually benefit from spending a lot of time underground, so I spent the past day combing through all the areas in the game. Still a little annoyed with how it was handled, though. The NPCs shift, as it turns out, so it's impossible to keep track of them.
I have to fully disagree on Mothim and Wormadam; they get quiver dance at level 20, and having such a strong move so early is truly underrated. At +1 speed with max investment, Mothim outspends max speed base 123 Pokémon. Also Wormadam-Grass will have the bulk to potentially set up multiple Quiver Dances, and stay healthy with Giga Drain, while Sandy form will help boost its lower defensive stats, and Trash Coat gets to boost up against those x4 super effective Flamethrowers. While they won’t be gamebreaking, getting quiver dance before Gardenia will really be OP, at least for a few badges.
Honestly the game is easy enough that you could probably get through it with minimal issues using a team only comprised of these mons. The only places you might run into issues is elite 4 and post game.
Abomasnow may have 4x weakness to fire. But there's like 2 fire types in the game. And it can learn moves to protect itself from fighting type Pokemon. Honestly its biggest threat is Infernape and there's only a few times you'd fight that outside online.
Purugly, Chimecho, Mothim, Garchomp, Empoleon and Luxray/Toxicroak is the team I will be using. The first three are three of my favorites and Empoleon is my favorite water starter so I’m pretty excited
Spiritomb and Abomasnow are worth it in my eyes. And Rapidash does have a unique moveset among fire types that can be played around with. The most important thing to ask is if they have buffed hail. Not time, but effect. Make it GENUINELY useful other than just activating rare hail abilities and 100% blizzards. Granted we’re in gen 4 so the ice types are all more worth it than they seem. Most of these belong here though. A lot of these Pokémon can be decent in trick room. Especially Rampardos. I think I’ll just be using Abomasnow or Spiritomb on this list. I’m already bothering with a Milotic in this game. And that’s…not easy to do.
@@pokeinator7834 Froslass is the other ice type I want to play with this time. Mamoswine and Weavile have remained amazing all these years. What I like to do is a make a team for each starter. Then I don’t have to be so choosy with what I REALLY want to play with.
@@pokeinator7834 because I’m an undying Torterra user, I often try and avoid overlapping types. So I love Mamoswine but I can never fit it on my main team. That’s part of the reason why I start making different teams other than my big main. Too many options to NOT explore.
I remembered how people feared Rampardos initially, having the highest attack stat in the entire game at the time, a large movepool, and access to Rock Polish but it turns out to be nothing but hype. Such a shame because he has a cool design. Thanks Mystic for another fun list.
I think the list is quite good and that kricketune deserves to be on the list but I would say that it is useful early on particularly when it has fury cutter or false swipe to help catch pokemon early on and in the mid game.
I will try with a Trash form Wormadam. I think she has a good typing, Bug/Steel, with only 1 weakness to Fire. The ability Anticipation literally advice us for the Fire weakness. She has good defence stats and with moves like Toxic and Gyro Ball..she can surprise us me thinks.
My team will be infernape , staraptor , garchomp , gallade ; tentacruel , pachirisu I won't recommend anyone to use pachirisu ... I use it because it's so cute ..you can use luxury or roserade instead
Pachirisu? What is this, the 2014 world championships?! I don’t actually blame you for using it- the 100% chance of Paralysis from Nuzzle is too good to turn down.
Wormadam (Trash cloak) has plenty of uses to lower accuracy with its steel typing with mirror shot & lower special attack with flash cannon & can learn attract to stop attacks of the other gender i just hope thay get another bug type move to use
Every RUclipsr has been saying that Spiritomb and Sableye did not have a way to be hit super effectively before Fairy types. Why does nobody remember Foresight + fighting type moves??
The playthrough is so much more fun when you use Pokémon you never used before Sinnoh is so limited so the only Pokémon I’m using on my time that I used before is Roserade
Chatot w/ certain moves was good for pokemon cool contest and Kricetune w/ certain moves is good for cute contest [according to the official pokemon Platinum guide]
if i can't get one naturally, i'm going to trade over an ability patch from sw/sh to give my rampardos sheer force. then i'll give it a bunch of moves that are affected by sheer force, like rock slide, zen headbutt, and fire punch. then, in the postgame, i can give it a life orb, and destroy literally everything. also, i'm going to use a quiver dance mothim. fight me.
Doesn’t matter which Pokémon you use in the main game, just have fun. As long as you don’t have an abysmal group with no effort put in you can win with ease
In my opinion (before seeing the video): Staraptor, Luxray and Garchomp 😂 man that might be one of the most used cores in pokemon of all time. Would much prefer using an unique team with pokemon I have never used before in a sinnoh playthrough
I enjoy grass periodically (if you know, you know) but the amount of weaknesses that Grass type Pokemon have always stops me from picking them as starters. The only ones I can visualize myself using are Leafeon or Roserade tbh
Woah why you gotta hurt my girl Wormadam. I love that Pokémon since I used it the last time I played Pearl and it just did so much better than I thought it would. The trash cloaks typing is so useful for a safe switch in then teach it metal sound and some special attacks and you’ll be able to deal with anything that’s not got fire moves
Rapidash is underrated. Sure it’s not competitive but for casual play through it’s fine. Heck you can even teach it solarbeam for coverage against water Pokémon or those annoying water/ground Pokémon. Solarbeam becomes even better with a sunny day setup. And yes houndoom is better being fire/dark. But there are lots of good Pokémon with the dark type or dark moves.
I chose Rapidash over Houndoom, mainly because I didn't find Houndoom all that useful. I used a weird team, but Torterra, Luxray, and Gyarados all had Crunch so it didn't phase me.
Lol @ Abomasnow mention. First of all, no mention of Aurora Veil setting with its auto-hail ability. Add a light clay on it and you have 8 turns of reduced damage output. Second, we likely are able to find Snover earlier in the game due to the underground Then you mentioned using Leafeon, which we can't even get in the main game.
Rampardos was on my original diamond team and that boy was a monster highly recommended especially with a quick claw and his wide move Pool covers a lot of weakness’s
I think I disagree with the ones that mainly rest on how hard it is to obtain, because for me personally I try to fill out the Pokedex as much as I can while going through the game, so I use honey trees all the time and have over a box full of just honey tree Pokémon
So far I have a Prinplup, Buneary, Gastly and a Swablu. Not sure what my other 2 will be yet. Was going to use Jirachi, but I don't want to double up on types if I can help it.
@@AdamDawson3 Flamethrower on Skuntank is weak; it's a special move on a physical attacker. Octillery is a better candidate for Flamethrower, although there are reasons not to use Octillery.
UPDATE:
So...I ended up managing to get one.
I can't help but feel a little insulted since most of the pokemon on this list are my personal favorites from Sinnoh :P
This list makes want to use these Pokémon even more.
This list might change when the games come out next week
Man really named half my team huh.
Regardless im going in with my bois
Torterra, bibarel, rampardos, kricketune, spiritomb, toxicroak.
I used Kricketune in Platinum I think and loved it. I sometimes go through a phase where I use weaker pokemon.
I agree I actually was gonna use abomasnow if not glalie or weavile
@@pokeinator7834 Froslass is the other ice type I want to play with this time. Mamoswine and Weavile have remained amazing all these years. What I like to do is a make a team for each starter. Then I don’t have to be so choosy with what I REALLY want to play with.
@@Kaempfdog dude I need to use mamoswine
@@Steven-tc4vl nah bro golduck is good but gyrados is stronger and cooler
@@pokeinator7834 because I’m an undying Torterra user, I often try and avoid overlapping types. So I love Mamoswine but I can never fit it on my main team. That’s part of the reason why I start making different teams other than my big main. Too many options to NOT explore.
I remembered how people feared Rampardos initially, having the highest attack stat in the entire game at the time, a large movepool, and access to Rock Polish but it turns out to be nothing but hype. Such a shame because he has a cool design. Thanks Mystic for another fun list.
Technically it’s always been outclassed about dyoxys attack, but yeah, to this day it has the crown out of non legendaries non megas.
Trick room!
Aren’t wormadam all female lol
That's ironic considering that Wormadam are 100% female.
Yeah, Trash form may be the best Wormadam.
My team will be infernape , staraptor , garchomp , gallade ; tentacruel , pachirisu
I won't recommend anyone to use pachirisu ... I use it because it's so cute ..you can use luxury or roserade instead
Pachirisu? What is this, the 2014 world championships?! I don’t actually blame you for using it- the 100% chance of Paralysis from Nuzzle is too good to turn down.
@@PansyPops Can't Raichu also use Nuzzle?
Wormadam (Trash cloak) has plenty of uses to lower accuracy with its steel typing with mirror shot & lower special attack with flash cannon & can learn attract to stop attacks of the other gender i just hope thay get another bug type move to use
Using all of these Pokemon, got it, thanks Mystic!
Heracross is good, it’s neutral to rock now because fighting destroys it. Flying types are bad for him 4times weak.
Now I’m going to make a team with these Pokémon and beat the game, thanks for the recommendations lol
Every RUclipsr has been saying that Spiritomb and Sableye did not have a way to be hit super effectively before Fairy types. Why does nobody remember Foresight + fighting type moves??
Spiritimb is also a ghost type
@@akrocksproductions3441 Foresight makes fighting and normal type moves able to hit ghost types

You can really play through the story with anything once you really learn the game mechanics. If you don’t use all burmy and combee you’ll be fine
In spite of its various weaknesses and flaws, I’ll still love Cherrim for what it can do and what it is
Same here
Is there a Discord for BDSP or something? Like for when you need to trade for evolve. If so please share link 🙏🏼
Hey man I’ll be interested in doing some trades I’ll be playing brilliant diamond if u play shining pearl that’ll be good.

So hype for the new game

Same
if i can't get one naturally, i'm going to trade over an ability patch from sw/sh to give my rampardos sheer force. then i'll give it a bunch of moves that are affected by sheer force, like rock slide, zen headbutt, and fire punch. then, in the postgame, i can give it a life orb, and destroy literally everything.
also, i'm going to use a quiver dance mothim.
Yes, i love using underrated Pokemon but bastiodon i used once but...it was terrible
Garchomp is a beast though, I can’t help but have it on my team lol
I used Abomasnow on my team just for fun and he ended up being more valuable to the team than I expected, at least in my play through
I was kind of offended and ashamed when I saw Abomasnow in the thumbnail, considering I'm currently playing Shield with Abomasnow as my Ice type 😅
Second, we likely are able to find Snover earlier in the game due to the underground
Then you mentioned using Leafeon, which we can't even get in the main game.
Wait, what? In the remakes too???
@@DrawciaGleam02 post game only. You can’t encounter Eevee until after you beat the Elite 4

Boo! I'm trading for one then!

Rampardos was on my original diamond team and that boy was a monster highly recommended especially with a quick claw and his wide move Pool covers a lot of weakness’s
You can literally use any Pokemon in the story and you’ll be fine
definitely my ponyta one taps everything
I think I disagree with the ones that mainly rest on how hard it is to obtain, because for me personally I try to fill out the Pokedex as much as I can while going through the game, so I use honey trees all the time and have over a box full of just honey tree Pokémon
They did my boy Luxray dirty..oh well, thank goodness Jolteon is a thing

So far I have a Prinplup, Buneary, Gastly and a Swablu. Not sure what my other 2 will be yet. Was going to use Jirachi, but I don't want to double up on types if I can help it.
"I am doing the platinum pokédex because we know atleast we get that"Yeah about that😬
Lol Wormadam is my favorite gen 4 Pokémon. I used the trash cloak on my team. :D
You don't really need a fire type in Sinnoh. Staraptor does the work and another pokemon can learn a fire type move.
Skuntank gets Flamethrower straight away after evolving from Stunky
@@AdamDawson3 Flamethrower on Skuntank is weak; it's a special move on a physical attacker. Octillery is a better candidate for Flamethrower, although there are reasons not to use Octillery. Blaze Kick on Lucario is the best option (but takes some effort and Lucario is already strong against Ice and Steel. Fire fang on a Draipion works as well. But with Torterra, Staraptor and Lucario, there is even no need for a fire move.
"There are much better grass types than Abomasnow"

6:10 - Me who found 5 fossils in 10 tries. Wow!
No joke, my Kricktune was an MVP on my team. Mine was really fast and could crit very easy
Alright my team I’m thinking of using are
1.) Infernape
2.) Staraptor or Togekiss (I know Togekiss is the better option but I’m not ready to say goodbye to my Staraptor 😭😭. This Pokémon had my back in my platinum run and Endevour is such a useful move when you’re caught in the ropes. Such a useful move and such a great and loyal Pokémon.
3.) Tyranitar
4.) Garchomp with ability sandveil (You know where I’m going with this 😎)
5.) Manaphy (Get this from preordering the game because February 8th, 2022)
6.) And lastly Magnezone (This dude is like a tank) debating whether I want the sturdy or magnet pull ability pls help.
Thank you all for reading this and pls feel free critique my team, I want to hear as much feedback as possible. Thanks so much
A modest Magneton holding eviolite is faster, has more bulk and the nature makes its SP. ATK as strong as a neutral nature Magnezone

Bastiodon is great for competitive battling. It is a great staller and it can learn stealth rock.
First off Kricketune as bad as it is really help me a lot in my playthrough to Pokemon Diamond/Platinum, i even had it in my Nuzlocke and made it through the 6th gym which did its best. And with new TM moves that had came out after gen 4 ill try something out for my Kricketune.
Second why do you have to put both Pokemon Rampardos & Bastiodon in the 7 slot when 1 has is better than the other? Seriously this is a top 10 Pokemob list it should be like this:-
10. Spirtomb
9. Chatot
8.Rapidash
7.Bastiodon
6.Rampardos
5.Abomasnow
4.Cherrim
3.Kricketune
2.Wormadam
1.Unown
There a proper *actual* top 10 Pokemon you shouldnt use. Though i like i said before with new moves and Pokemon coming out of after gen 4 theres no telling if the game has change since then. And also as an honest opinion I suggest picking a Pokémon you actually like, even tho it may not be viable in battle/matches.
I’m a little bummed the fossil Pokémon found themselves on this list. I was excited to use them. I could go super casual and use them anyways but there was now be that nagging feeling I should use something better.
*sees Abomasnow in the title card*
Alright, I'm ready to get my feelings hurt
I agree kricketune isn't that great story wise, but if you're shiny hunting post game, it learns sing and can also learn false swipe by being taught it
Skuntank needs more love
I just finished a run with rampardos on my team. And it was one of the better members of my team.
These Pokemon will probably suck when they return to VGC as well.
That is there will be a VGC for these games.
Cherrim is strong in 2v2 battles
I was worrying the entire video my favorite bird, Honchkrow would be there. Big sigh of relief.
