i feel like the only thing holding me back from enjoying the newest games of pokemon , are that all pokemons in ur party share experience and that the games feels a bit too easy.
There was a lot of anger towards sword and shield from people like me because we’ve invested all of this time into all of these Pokémon, and were used to being able to transfer them forward from our childhood, etc, and here comes a game that says almost none of these things are going to be going forward. They said that it was going to be too expensive to make the models for it. And then they did end up adding some overtime, and then they put even more behind a DLC pay wall. They just seemed so incredibly disrespectful and did not seem to understand. The player base that has existed, like we were being abandoned. And if you want to say that, the target audience is just the new generation of young children, OK, so then let’s all just stop playing the games? People were less upset with the actual games and more upset with stuff like this. Nintendo forward March meant that their players were left behind in the same game titles because the expectation had been made by them over and over and over that would be transferable going forward. It made people like me to not want to invest more time into the game, because I’m just going to pick up a game and put it down, I may as well play some other game that I get more value out of for something like that, and is honest about it upfront
The fact you put BW and B2W2 so high earned you a sub from me. IMO they are objectively the best gen in the series. I feel like even though they have come around over the years, people still don’t give them enough love. I have a soft spot for Gen 2 though so it’s my subjective favorite (nostalgia FTW), but I have replayed B2W2 so many times.
Pokémon Emerald is absolutely amazing. I’m still waiting for a new Pokémon game to bring back a similar Battle Frontier. So glad I still have my original copy all these years later. And I also agree that sword and shield receive way too much hate. I actually really enjoy the max raids. I hope future games keep raids as a game mode going forward.
You nailed this ranking. Too many people in the Pokémon fandom don’t look at substance and rank games based on nostalgia. S/V were fun games, but not scaling gyms was a mistake, and I think Pokemon is better linear. I hate calling games “open” that truly aren’t.
1. BW/BW2 2. HG/SS 3. RUBY/SAPHIRE/EMERALD 4. FIRE RED/LEAF GREEN 5. ORAS 6. DIAMOND/PEARL/PLATINUM 7. BDSP 8. RED/BLUE/YELLOW 9. X/Y 10. SUN/MOON 11. LEGENDS ARCEUS AND SO ON... Switch games are easily the worst now they've tried to implement open world features into them with a dulled down 3d model to it all...
I can agree there. My top 5 would be 1. Emerald 2. HeartGold/SoulSilver 3. Black and White 4. Platinum 5. FireRed/LeafGreen *Note* I haven't played X/Y, Sword and Shield, Black2 and White 2.
Wait how could someone put Scarlet and Violet over Let’s Go Pikachu, one is piece a piece of trash technically and shouldn’t even be allowed to sell while the other one is a well made game, even though a bit simplifies for new audiences
I like how SV made the jump into the open world even if it struggles to do its job. Lets go was just a worse version of Kanto to me but i can understand why you would have them swapped :D
@@StrawHatMidas I think you made a few mistakes in your video. I replayed the whole series recently and I think there's a flaw you glazed over in at least SwSh and BW/BW2 but emerald has a huge flaw too. And thats difficulty level especially in endgame. Rayquaza at lvl 70 meant e4 and champion was free in emerald if you used it. By the end of a normal bdsp playthrough my pokemon were 20 lvls overleveled and I didn't even try to do that. Same with sword and shield with the super overleveled super fast thing. Scarlet and violet did handle this better I'll admit. Black 2 endgame is slow and grindy too. Black tower and e4 rm takes countless hours of XP grinding to complete. I think emerald #1 is a given because if you don't use rayquaza it's the best paced game plus has a good flow. But I think b2/w2 above platinum is a bit of a questionable choice. HGSS had such an awful pool of pokemon to use too. If it has better pokemon it can be #1. Black was awful. Omega ruby and alpha sapphire was overleveled entire game even while skipping trainers. Black 2 redeems itself by having you gain significantly less XP if you are higher level than intended.
As a kid i played Blue and Gold a ton but then i missed a few generations. Ended up playing Sword, lets Go, Arceus with my nephew when he got into pokemon. More recently i decided to give Heartgold a shot and its by far the best pokemon game ive played. Maybe i need to give Emerald shot though, was interesting to see your rankings after playing everything. I agree with nearly everything you said about the games i have played, so ill probably like Emerald if u tried it.
they changed a lot of things for Scarlet and Violet just because they could, and what the franchise could have been has suffered for it, though some of it was a function of higher technology being embedded into the anime before the demand was really there. You can see the impact of that same emphasis on sensory experience over story end the game play mechanics themselves.
You and I think roughly the same but for me the best are the following (in order): - Pokemon SV: Listen, the performance issues and graphic designs do suck, that's a fact. However, it has a good storyline that connects well enough to leave a satisfying experience especially with the DLCs adding more to offer and more locations to explore and mess around in. It is a good start to something we wanted, and also Area Zero exists. - Pokemon X & Y: I do not understand how people hated it when it was a lesser Gen 5, but still good enough *for the time*. I understand Gen 7 improves graphics, but it's like Gen 4 and Gen 5. Leap in quality sure, but it's still a good experience. Plus IT GAVE US MEGA EVOS - Pokemon Black & White 2: I recently reviewed BW part 1, and I love that game a lot, but B2W2 really goes far and beyond in the content and battling. More Pokemon, Colress, the PWT, it had so much to do after the main campaign that it was insane. - Pokemon HGSS & Platinum: I have these as a tie for me because these Pokemon made me a fan of the mainline games. HGSS was my first Johto experience and I loved the additional stuff they did as a remake to GSC. Platinum, sure it's slow but it was everything as a kid. The story was fun. The Pokemon felt complete in its roster, and the music transcends time and space (lol). - Pokemon Legends Arceus: To me, this is what Pokemon should have been from the beginning of the Switch's era. It is the best looking 3D Pokemon, the mechanics are so well done, the battling si INCREDIBLE, and it was a good adventure that gave you the feeling of revisiting Sinnoh again but experiencing something entirely new in the process.
Honestly, I think Pokemon fell off horrifically once it went to switch and I'll stick by my ranking forever without changing my mind of: 1. Gen 5 (10/10) 2. Gen 4 (10/10) 3. Gen 3 (10/10) 4. Gen 6 (9/10) 5. Gen 2 (8.5/10) 6. Gen 1 (8/10) 7. Gen 7 (5/10) 8. Gen 8 (4.5/10) 9. Gen 9 (4/10)
My only changes would be S/V - 7.5/10 X/Y - 7/10 Gen 4- 8.5/10 (a bit too slow, but really good :)) Havent played gen 2, 7 and 8 though, so I cant say anything Based ranks😊❤
Gen V has the worst mon design of any game which is the largest reason people play. Awful starters too. It caused many people to quit playing Pokémon after it came out was a total flop
@shewolfcub3 5 is overrated asf its one of the easiest games in the series by far and its a story in a pokemon game lmao its not that much better than the others. Platinum is easily the best pokemon game
Other than your placement for Sword and Shield, I think this list is probably the closest to the generalized opinion of the entire Pokemon community. As a result, it’s hard to argue with it
@@StrawHatMidas I think all the games have their own merit, sword and shield has cool stuff in it. I consider it to be the most outwardly lazy Pokemon game they’ve ever made, but I say the same thing about NSMB2 and I still had fun with it. But the models disappear when you walk away from them, the textures and colors are bland (subjective, but I don’t think the game looks that great), a lot of the buildings in the game look the same (which old games did too, but it comes across as incredibly lazy with a fully fledged 3D game),there wasn’t a national Pokédex but they just ripped most of the sprites from the 3DS, and dynamaxing was just never a gimmick I got into like Megas and terastilizing. SV suffer from a lot of these problems too, and in the case of hardware an even bigger problem than SwSh, but I like the pokemon, region, and gimmick more
Great list, thanks for the video! I personally find Emerald really similar to Ruby and Sapphire and I keep wondering how it manages to make it to the #1 on other lists as well.
Even tho Emerald has the same context as Ruby and Sapphire, the changes are there: 1. Story: The battle between Magma and Aqua trying to do their plans in parallel makes more sense. Also they include Rayquaza as a principal factor in the story 2. Battles: More animations in sprites and Poke Balls. You can have rematches with trainers and Gym Leaders 3. Pokemon: When in Ruby and Sapphire you're supposes to trade between games, in Emerald you can catch almost all of the Hoenn pokemon 4. Postgame: This one is the reason why Emerald is so loved. The new Battle Frontier was an experience never seen before where you had to take different type of challenges in a more serious and difficult way. Also, you could explore more things about the region and battle against Steven in Meteor Falls. Surely there are more changes but trying to remember everything is a lot more complicated than I thought
My Ranking: Heart Gold & Soul Silver Black 2 & White 2 Platinum Legends Arceus Black & White Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon Emerald Sword & Shield Fire Red & Leaf Green XD: Gale of Darkness Colosseum Sun & Moon X & Y Let’s Go Pikachu & Let’s Go Eevee Crystal Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl Scarlett & Violet (I didn’t include OG Red & Blue, Gold & Silver, Ruby & Sapphire, Diamond & Pearl, and Yellow because the remakes & enhanced versions just delete the originals for me)

BDSP are great games. Original Diamond and Pearl were full of problems that they actually fixed in Platinum version. The only games that ruin the series are the new ones that removed over 200 and something Pokemon from existing.
I think the games were fine but they were so hyped up to be something great and they came out being just OK which made them even worse if you’re going to remake GEN four remake platinum

LEGENDS ARCEUS PROS: • Cool concept • Interesting gameplay • Ability to move around while in battle • Shinies in overworld • Great final boss CONS: • Limited trainer battles • Gameplay loop becomes repetitive 6. SCARLET & VIOLET PROS: • Gorgeous visuals • Arven’s story • Area Zero • Great region design CONS: • Framerate issues • Maybe too many stories going on at once 5. BLACK & WHITE PROS: • Great story • Animated sprites • N • Good difficulty • Black City & White Forest CONS: • Region design is just a circle • No old Pokemon until post-game 4. EMERALD PROS: • Melded plot of both Ruby & Sapphire • Best starter trio • Battle Frontier • Secret Final Boss • That cutscene of Groudon vs. Kyogre, and Rayquaza breaking it up CONS: • Treecko kinda sucks after the first gym • Late game is difficult to navigate without a guide 3. BLACK 2 & WHITE 2 PROS: • Unique take on what a ‘third game’ could be • Pre-Gen 5 Pokémon in Main Game • Cool new starting areas • Actually threatening villain team • Best rival in the series • Champion Iris CONS: • No N 2.
The number of times I've gone through Sapphire, Platinum, Heart Gold, and Emerald is probably concerning and my DS is very glad I'm finally finished
I absolutely love that you put Emerald as the last one
love your editing (new sub btw 🙏🏽)
Thank you so much I appreciate you :)
The way you ended the video on the right take was the best thing I’ve seen on RUclips in a while.
You know, for having less than 1.5 subs your videos are pretty good. Keep it up!
Thank you :) I appreciate it I hope to grow and learn along the way :)
I am so happy that I was able to experience Pokemon through Emerald as a kid. I always come back to this game if I get a pokemon nostalgia hit

7. XY
8. S & S

Hey thanks! I’ve watched your videos before, they are great :D

Nice video! Subbed
How is your channel not bigger? What a great video. Absolutely loved the editing and content. Earned a new sub!
Wow thanks! Maybe someday I will get there :)
@@StrawHatMidas of course bro! Im rooting for you
I love LGPE, it’s a nice relaxing game to just chill and shiny hunt without much brainpower or planning
You nailed this ranking. Too many people in the Pokémon fandom don’t look at substance and rank games based on nostalgia.
S/V were fun games, but not scaling gyms was a mistake, and I think Pokemon is better linear. I hate calling games “open” that truly aren’t.

Switch games are easily the worst now they've tried to implement open world features into them with a dulled down 3d model to it all...
Respectable list 👍
So much was left out of Scarlett and Violet. How are they not last on the list?
I agree so much with this list. And I was impressed about your opinions of sword and shield. I have the same thoughts about them.
Starting another play thru for emerald. I cant get enough of this game. Its so much fun
I was fully agreeing until I saw S/M as third worst 💀
Facts S&M USUM Supremacy!
Lets just all agree emerald is the best and HG/SS and Plat are in the top 5.
I can agree on that :D
I can't, it was an awesome game but their wsrs better after like platinum and B&W2
I can agree there. My top 5 would be
1. Emerald
2. HeartGold/SoulSilver
3. Black and White
4. Platinum
5. FireRed/LeafGreen
*Note* I haven't played X/Y, Sword and Shield, Black2 and White 2.

I literally found your channel today with this video and gave a like and sub just because you put Emerald at 1. Man of culture.
Mannnnn some of these OSTS really take me back, that Red battle in HGSS was like the PEAK of pokemon
Top 3:
1. Black and White (absolutely goated)
2. Emerald
3. Diamond/Pearl(not platinum)
Firered/Leafgreen will always hold a place in my heart as well
Sword & Shield are great! Way better than Scarlet & Violet. Sun and Moon are my favorites
Good points here. I like all the games and Sun and Moon are great too :D
I found Sun and Moon extremely bad and quite boring personaly
To this day, there is still a special place in my heart for my first Mightyena.
I think you would like Emerald a lot. To me it just feels like the most engaging pokemon experience. HGSS are also just as good though :D
Everytime i am sad i Play pkmn sun and moon. The vibe the pkmn the Soundtracks all are so nostalgic and makes me so happy
Sun and moon truly gave off the vibe that it’s the last journey in your adventure across all regions. Galar onwards just felt like a silly dream
RBYDP
Emerald = Platinum
BW = BW2
XY
I disagree with a few, sword and shield are pretty shallow and easy games. X and Y are also far too easy for my taste
Solid list 🤝
It's probably not meant like this, but I like how there's only one BDSP fan just screaming get him
Intentional (i am usually alone lol)
As much as more games come out graphics get better i always find myself replaying the original 2 gens
They are great generations I get why you would :D
I have never played any Pokemon game that are on the Switch because how expensive they are and that they are never on sale.
Honestly spot on review
This is the most dog shit review holy shit
Completely agree with Emerald, my favourite even transferred my Jirachi from Pokemon Channel to it.
they changed a lot of things for Scarlet and Violet just because they could, and what the franchise could have been has suffered for it, though some of it was a function of higher technology being embedded into the anime before the demand was really there. You can see the impact of that same emphasis on sensory experience over story end the game play mechanics themselves.
You and I think roughly the same but for me the best are the following (in order):
- Pokemon SV: Listen, the performance issues and graphic designs do suck, that's a fact.
Plus IT GAVE US MEGA EVOS
- Pokemon Black & White 2: I recently reviewed BW part 1, and I love that game a lot, but B2W2 really goes far and beyond in the content and battling.
SV are good i just wish that they took more time on them:D I think this order is entirely valid though :D
L takes
@@MultiDarkII then what are yous?
Good point but lets not glaze legend's fights... Are cleary the worst in the series and its not even close. You can beat the game with level 40 mons
Honestly, I think Pokemon fell off horrifically once it went to switch and I'll stick by my ranking forever without changing my mind of:
1. Gen 5 (10/10)
2. Gen 4 (10/10)
3. Gen 3 (10/10)
4. Gen 6 (9/10)
5. Gen 2 (8.5/10)
6. Gen 1 (8/10)
7. Gen 7 (5/10)
8. Gen 8 (4.5/10)
9. Gen 9 (4/10)
My only changes would be
S/V - 7.5/10
X/Y - 7/10
Gen 4- 8.5/10 (a bit too slow, but really good :))
Havent played gen 2, 7 and 8 though, so I cant say anything
Based ranks😊❤
Gen V has the worst mon design of any game which is the largest reason people play. Awful starters too. It caused many people to quit playing Pokémon after it came out was a total flop
@@sloppygoo Gen 5 has onenof the greatest stories and gameplays. I'll take it any day over 7-9 those ones are trash lmao
As a result, it’s hard to argue with it
I think sword and shield are overhated I loved those games
SV suffer from a lot of these problems too, and in the case of hardware an even bigger problem than SwSh, but I like the pokemon, region, and gimmick more
Sword and Shield and Scarlet and Violet are not that acclaimed for good reason IMO but I love Gen 1-6 and only them
Great list, thanks for the video!
I personally find Emerald really similar to Ruby and Sapphire and I keep wondering how it manages to make it to the #1 on other lists as well.
Even tho Emerald has the same context as Ruby and Sapphire, the changes are there:
1. Story: The battle between Magma and Aqua trying to do their plans in parallel makes more sense. Also they include Rayquaza as a principal factor in the story
2. Battles: More animations in sprites and Poke Balls. You can have rematches with trainers and Gym Leaders
3. Pokemon: When in Ruby and Sapphire you're supposes to trade between games, in Emerald you can catch almost all of the Hoenn pokemon

@@StrawHatMidas Honestly I get where you're coming from, but using that logic is like saying they should have used Emerald Version to Remake Gen 3, instead of Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, and they should have used Crystal Version instead of Gold & Silver for HG/SS. I haven’t played every single mainline Pokemon game, but I’ve played most of them and I’ve finished at least one from each Generation. So here’s my list, and some pros and cons for each game.

CONS: • Underutilization of new Pokemon in most areas • Poor pacing around mid-game • Limited bag space

PROS: • Mega Evolution (Again) • Wally’s character development • Dex Nav • Delta Episode • Mirage Islands
CONS: • No Battle Frontier • Pretty easy compared to OG R&S
7. LEGENDS ARCEUS
PROS: • Cool concept • Interesting gameplay • Ability to move around while in battle • Shinies in overworld • Great final boss
CONS: • Limited trainer battles • Gameplay loop becomes repetitive
