Ya’ll are missing the point. Alex Jones knows these ramblings are nonsensical to normal people but he’s not actually doing it for the sake of normal people. He’s doing it for his audience who understand the message.
He’s accusing himself of being the murderer because it’s his way of avoiding being sued again when he states something that suggests that the real murderer didn’t kill them. He can’t say that anymore without being sued. So now he says he killed them because he would have to sue himself for defamation for that. His audience know what he’s doing.
In this manner, Jones is still insinuating the murderer didn’t do the killings, but Jones is saying it in a way that prevents Jones from being sued again, by accusing himself so as not to admit the real murderer did it, which is what he still pushes.

I have to disagree. Seeking to understand these people (what they want, what they fear, and how make sense of what's going on in the country) is essential if we are to find common ground, reduce political polarization, and move the nation to a healthier place mentally and spiritually.
Alex Jones and the people who consider him a credible source for news and information about how the world works are part of America. They are not going to just disappear. They pass their way of framing the world on to their children and others they have influence with. Even if they become less vocal and avoid expressing their real POV in the public square, they still vote. These are the citizens who support and elect the likes of Hershel Walker, Lauren Boebart, and Margarine Taylor Green at the local, state, and federal levels.
