Q: What about the Space between the Last stitch and the First stitch - there is "one less strand of yarn" there. How do we fix that for the Brim and when we are all Done making the hat?? Thank you.
My mom told me about this video over 2 years ago and I made several hats at that time. This tutorial was very EASY to follow. I completely forgot how to do it after not doing anything for over a year and had to come back to your video and it has helped me remember what I need to do. Please do not delete!! There are plenty of "how to videos" out here but yours is the best for beginners and for those who need a little "reminder" 😁
I’m not a beginner I’ve done this before I’m watching this video for the cast off and I will give anyone watching this some advice: it’s best to use super bulky yarn, it doesn’t leave empty spaces and is very stretchy and snugly for the winter. Thank you for the video I finished my hat!
Thank you so much for this video. I was inspired after watching this video 3 1/2 years ago, to loom hats for the homeless. Each year I have loomed between 80 to 120 hats, which I donate to homeless shelters for the winter months. I want to thank you for this, you truly have inspired many people to do as you do, and help those less fortunate. I have moved from Maryland to Alabama and I continue to loom hats every year. God bless you.
Thank YOU soooooOOOo much for what you do. And thank you for taking the time to leave me this message. I get emotional just thinking about it. So many people getting a yarn hug from you. That’s how we take care of Gods children. Again THANK YOU !!! 💛💛💛
Hi Denise! I just wanted to thank you so much for all of your wonderful videos. I learned how to do my first hat from this video and I have made over 100 so far that I have donated to the Salvation Army and my local Women's Shelter. I couldn't have done it without you!
WOW Carrie - sooooooooooooooooooooooooo awesome. I LOVE LOVE LOVE a giver. Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know - it's this kind of comment that fuels me. You've made me super happy my sister !
I donate a lot of hats to shelters and charities, and these hats are great! They’re fast and they’re warm and they’re good-looking. I love all your videos, Denise. Thank you! ❤
Awesome tutorial! I'm a long haul trucker and a good hat for the cold eluded me long enough that making one is my favorite option, and an affordable project too. Your video really made getting started seem easy. Thanks.
Thank you so much for your video. It had been a few years since I made this hats, I have started back to make them for the homeless and you help me to get started . You too are helping the homeless, God Bless you.
Anna Escarrega THANK YOU VERY much Anna. I so appreciate hearing that my video and patterns are being used to help those who are hurting or in need. Let me know if you want a printable version for a knitting group. I have a 9 page booklet that I can email to you. Here is my email: denise@loomahat.com
this is the best video I've seen for showing how to make a hat, she explains everything very well and understandable. Great Video, thanks for posting it.

Reviewing. I watched this 2 years ago and made about 100 beanies. Gave many as gifts. Others to a cancer center. It’s been a while so I’m back again reviewing your video. Because yours is the BEST one on RUclips.
I have just watched your amazing tutorial for beginners. I bought a loom 5 years ago and have never used it because I couldn't work out how to. After watching your incredibly informative and detailed tutorial I'm going to go and make my husband the beanie he's been waiting 5 years for. Please keep your videos coming I am in love with looming simply because of how your teach what seemed to be a very complicated project.
Thank you very much for explaining so clearly and working slowly enough for us raw beginners to catch on. I have now decided to buy some loom and have some fun with them. I have also decided to follow your example and make some hats for the homeless. I have knitted scarves for them before.
+Mary Tang Mary THANK you for taking the time to leave this comment - Makes me BIG TIME happy to know your hats are going to those that sooooooo need them.
I never knew loom knitting was so easy. Thanks so much Denise. Your presentation is simple, informative and straight to the project at hand. Thanks so much for sharing!🌞
This was awesome teaching thanks so much. I wanted to tell you that I learned how to make crocheted roses and I've been putting roses on top of the girls hats and pom-poms on top of the boys so I just thought I'd tell you and it's so cute so so cute.
You're actually the best. This was so well explained that I finally actually made a hat... And all I was making before uneven squares! Thank you thank you thank you!!
I bought my knitting loom at a thrift store for $0.75. After using it for a wreath frame for fresh greenery for the holidays, I sat down to watch your tutorial. Like everyone else has said, you are a very good teacher. I finished my hat within 24 hours on the weekend and I have begun another one and am closing in on being 2/3s done. These are the nicest hats I have had on my head. I made my brim extra wide to keep my ears warm. Thanks for this wonderful video.
You are excellent teacher, very step by step tutorial. Enjoyed this so very much, and I do charity projects for homeless shelters, make little dresses for girls in Africa, Lapghans & Quilts for Veterans and Afghanis for project Linus. Love it, thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for this easy to follow video! I just finished my first hat thanks to your step by step instructions! A tip I learned on another video is to slip the yarn through a piece of a drinking straw (about an inch or two long) before you cast on. It saves you banging your fingers against the pegs while wrapping each one and it also makes the wrapping go so much quicker! You hold onto the straw and wrap away :) Thank you again!!
wonderful instructions. You teach the way I teach people for our hat group. We loom knit hats for pre-school-5th children in our county every year. WONDERFUL project. Thanks for the great instruction.
Awesome. I was "skeered" to try my first project, but this is exactly what I wanted and I was able to follow her sweet voice and I will do this hat for me!! About 50 years ago I took crochet lessons, but haven't done any more yarn work since then--haha!
I've had looms and yarn forever, intending to someday. Even covid didn't get me going and I always wanted my tutorial seeking to be clandestine, like I magically learned rather than sought out a how-to. Then I just had a stroke. I'm youngish and fear more strokes in the future. I can hardly wait to start creating soft colorful items and am SO grateful for your videos being the first and most clear, lovely instructions ( The magical happened! ). Thank you!
I still love this video ... I saved it to. Keep going back to it .. This will be my second year making these hats for my sons class mates for christmas presents .. The kindergartners loved them last year
Thank you for teaching me to use the loom and create my first hat and scarf. I am a male and made both to ship to my mother for a gift next week... Thank you so much...
Antonio Edwards Very happy to hear my videos were of help to you - I know you're mom will be happy.. I LOVE it when my kids give me things - especially something made with their own hands - just love it ! :) God will bless you for it !
Wow! Denise your video took away any doubt that I can loom knit! Your instructions are beautifully detailed and so easy to see exactly what you are doing. Thanks so much for getting me started! I want to see your other videos once I have finished a hat for my sweetie.
After several weeks of searching utube vids on how to loom I just want to say a Big TY for your posts! Lots of sites assume you know stuff already or the vid is of too poor a quality or sound to follow the instructions. I just finished my 1st hat following along. Thanks again and plz keep posting!
I just bought myself a set of the ring looms and this has been so helpful! Thank you so much for posting this. I was trying to just figure it out on my own and was having a hard time. After I have watched this, you have made it so much more understandable.
+Brittany B Thank YOU for the the Thank you Brittany - Glad the video was helpful : ) .. Loom knitting is easy - now that you've done this pattern you're ready for all kinds of hats - here is a big list from a lot of people : www.loomahat.com/loom-hat-patterns/
Hi Denise! Marcela here, from Sweden. My kids wanted to start knitting and I had no idea about how to do this. I have never done such a thing and then I found your video with this excellent instruction and now we all are going to have home made hats to our very cold Swedish winter! Thank you!!!
Marcela Swärd VERY glad to hear that - I love to hear about kids knitting - Here is a video of a 10-year old teaching how to loom knit. I think you and the kids will enjoy it, www.loomahat.com/learn-to-knit Warm Hugs from Florida, denise
Hi Denise I'm a loomer newbie and I've watched your video several times, as of today I've made three hats and two scarfs I'm working on a hat now for my sister her birthday is February 12th. I only started looming a week ago. Thank you so much for the detail instructions.. Happy Looming.☺☺☺
blkbird022 Awesome - Looming just gets better - the more you learn. Starting a new series call A Stitch a Week - So stay with me cause someone elses birthday is coming up
Thank you Ms. Denise! I just bought a loom for myself and for my grandaughter and we're learning together! Your teaching method is excellent and oh so helpful!
I know this video is an older one, but I'm a beginner and was looking for an easy to understand loom knitting 101 class, if you will. I have watched a few others before I found your channel. I do have to say that you, by far, explain the process so much better than the other videos. They seem to rush through and you can't keep up and have to keep pausing. That causes mistakes, at least for me. So, I'm a new sub and I love all the links you provided to further help us beginners to master the craft. Thank you so much!! ❤️🌼🌺💛🌷💜
OK, I just got back from your website. I am blown away!! You have a tutorial for everything!! I was hoping to find a couple different patterns to find which one works best for me. You covered it all!! I am SO happy I found you. I can't wait to try them all!! My search is over. I don't need to search for anymore videos on RUclips. Thank you!! 🌷💛🌼
I think these loom knit videos are absolutely perfect? I truly enjoy watching them, and I've learned so much. Thank you it's been very nice. J A Hathaway , Jackson, Michigan
Best instructional video I've seen! You are a great teacher and because of you I completed my first hat!! I made a scarf and hat set for my daughter for Christmas and I couldn't be happier...thank you so much!
This is one of the most thorough and informative loom knit hat videos I've seen so far! I'm new to loom knitting, and I appreciate the care and detail in all of your videos. This one has been particularly helpful to me. Thank you so much for all you share and do!
This video is fantastic. I was following another which was unclear, got half way and had to unravel it as she didn't say which part she was making, so my colors were wrong! Yours is much clearer, thank you so much for making this :-)

I have just brought myself a loom set, watched a video on RUclips not yours and complete saw red and thought how am I going to learn this. Then watching your video I thought wow not so hard after all and now I am ready to start making my hat. Your instructions were so easy to follow thank you.
Thanks so much for such an awesome tutorial. This is my second DAY with learning to loom knit. I could not have found a better tutorial for the absolute beginner such as myself. You are an incredible teacher. Thanks for all the extra tidbits you gave which is an added bonus for us newbies. So far I have completed about 6 rows from the completed brim. I did change colors as I followed along with you. Thanks so much again. You are the greatest!

Thank you for "talking" me through my first loom hat. A few flaws But not bad. Looking forward to my next loom hat without flaws. Blessings to you and your teaching!
I've found making an 8" hat jussssssst covers the ear. Many people like their hat to come just below the bottom of the ear so I'd recommend a 9" hat instead. Love these videos. Super clear to follow and understand. Thank you for taking the time to make them!
Great idea!! Thank you so much , and thank you you for responding I love the way you present your videos and you're very easy to follow , thanks again ,dawn
Thank You, Thank You. I watched many many videos on loom knitting and when I arrived here, I didn't look anymore!!! You have many many learning videos and I have watched most of them Excellent source of information. My looms arrived yesterday and I made a toddler hat last night. Today I made me a hat. With pom poms thanks to your videos!!!!! Following, you have a new groupie. :-)

So glad I found Denise to up my game from my childhood spool knitting! I'm a "retired" teacher in the time of Covid and this is hands down the way to do a tutorial video - calm voice, step by step with no distracting chat. My go-to for any knitting project!
My daughter gave me looms for Christmas,...I was pretty intimidated! I knew the basic knitting techniques, but this thing? I was so lucky to have found you! You are the best! Thank you, thank you, thank you 🥰
OMG. Dozen of times I tried loom knitting - lost count , drop stitches , stitches unraveled and so on. THIS IS TRULY AMAZING !!!!! You must be a teacher. Finally made my first hat (less then 3 hours). Thank you.

Thank you!! 🌷💛🌼
Right? The others started off and seemed easy but this one is sooo much better.
I think these loom knit videos are absolutely perfect? I truly enjoy watching them, and I've learned so much. Thank you it's been very nice. J A Hathaway , Jackson, Michigan

Yours is much clearer, thank you so much for making this :-)
Amy Taylor Thank you for the Thank you Amy - glad I could help.. Hoping to finish the scarf video next weekend - so come back :)

Thank you
Yes i agree, I looked at some others and got completely lost, but I like this one.
She’s an expert and possibly and educator of some kind. That’s why she’s able to break it down step by step so wonderfully.
Looming works great for making hats!
And LOTS of other things 😁

I've found making an 8" hat jussssssst covers the ear. Many people like their hat to come just below the bottom of the ear so I'd recommend a 9" hat instead. Love these videos. Super clear to follow and understand. Thank you for taking the time to make them!
That's a great idea! Thank YOU !
Your video is by far the best I have ever watched! Thank you so much

Thanks for the great tutorial! I love the idea of donating to homeless shelters. It's a great excuse to knit more and it collects good karma, too!
