Thanks for asking - They are almost identical except for the placement of the working yarn. For the True - you put the yarn above the existing loop and for the purl - you put it below the existing loop.
I was wonering the same do you do the same on the way bk. Also just think of the true stitch as an oppersite of the purl stitch as on the purl stitch you scoop your working yarn from the bottom as you wrap your working yarn at the bottom of the peg, where as the true stitch you wrap the working yarn at the top of the peg then scoop the top loop from the existing loop of the peg.if that makes sense? X
@@LoomaHat do you have a video showing completed projects using the different types of stitches you know or use? I'd love to see the difference in appearance for each style of stitch!
I just ordered my loom circle set yesterday (11/22/24) and I'm just watching this video to learn the process and take notes as well. I'm a little excited about starting this looming journey!!
Your method of using pictures of sheep and chicks is the clearest way of putting over a pattern I have seen in over 60 years of knitting. Thank you. Now faced with months in lockdown it seems like a good time to make an Afghan on a loom. 🐕
I'm thankful for your videos. You are saving me so much frustration. I bought a loom kit for a terminally sick friend that is bored. She once asked me to teach her to knit. But I couldn''t teach myself to knit without wanting to jump off a cliff. This looks easier than classic knitting, so I bought her a loom kit and some accessories. However, I was at a complete loss deciding what videos to direct her to start with. This one first. Middle of virus going around, not about to become a personal tutor, getting her sick or myself. Looking forward to starting this hobby myself and helping my friend over the phone if I can. Thanks.
The e wrap is what I was taught, no others. This is amazing! The u wrap is WAY easier than I imagined! 🥰 you're so good at explaining so I understand very well and extremely easily! 🥰 I'm very much a visual learner but you explain it perfectly! ❤️💛💚💙💜 also, your voice is soothing, easy on the ears and I could listen to you talk all day! You could read the ingredient list from food items and I'd be so intently listening. 🤣☠️
Your method of using sheep and chicks is the best idea I have come across for clarity in a pattern. Thank you. Faced with months in lockdown seems like a good time to make an Afghan!🐕
Love your videos, Denise! Could you please show what these stitches look like when repeated in a swatch? I'm looking for variations to achieve different effects. In particular, which stitches will produce a tighter weave? bulky weave? Alternative stitches to achieve "embroidered" type designs for trims, embellishments? Many times I start with a bulky yarn (5 wt), but there is too much space between the stitches when I want a tighter weave. Hoping you can help. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for this video. As a newbie to loom knitting, I struggle with what are the different stitches and when I should choose one over another. With this video, it is so clear and understandable. ❤️
I really appreciate this video. I’m going to attempt a temperature blanket this year and I only knew about the e wrap and flat wrap. Now I feel more confident that my blanket will look nicer by adding in these stitches.
As a long time hand knitter which I love, love doing, around 65 years this loom knitting seems much more complicated! I will always try anything new before I make a final decision, so I have ordered a seletion of looms to try. At present I think hand knitting will be much quicker. The only looms I have at present are my weaving looms which, of course, are completely different from knitting. Plus an enormous collection of knitting needles, two spinning wheels, an embroidery machine, a sewing machine, a huge collection of yarn mostly spun myself very fine which I prefer, ......!
Thank you for the feedback. As with all crafts this is not going to be a good fit for everyone. But the art of learning is it’s own gift, so I would say don’t focus on time but just learning something new. 🌼 And welcome to the family.
True stitch and U wrap are my favs which I learned from you ages ago! This is a very good video for newbies and long standing loom knitters. We all need new a refresher

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I never knew you could unwrap your e wrap to make it easier to move to the peg next to it. I have struggled with k2tog for this reason so I have avoided some patterns. This video is so instructive for all new loomers!
Good morning, Denise! Thank you for another wonderful video explaining the different stitches for those of us that are still beginners. I do have a question: whenever I try to use two yarns, they get terribly tangled. Is there a trick to using two? Thanks very much!
The U-wrap is the same as the flat version if you put the yarn for the flat wrap loosely. Then you don't have to do each peg individually, you can do a bunch at a time. And I agree with Ditta, below: the true stitch looks a lot like the purl stitch.
Thank you this video is so informative! Your videos were the first videos I found when I was learning to loom and you still amaze me with your knowledge and beautiful creations 😁❤
@@LoomaHat Okay quick question... I re-watched your great video and took notes this time :D , but I'm a little confused at the very end for the P2TOG. For knitting off you placed the yarn above the stitches, and then used the hook to pull the two stiches over. But on a purl, don't you place the yarn below your loop normally? So what is it that you're pulling over in a P2TOG? Sorry, I know you get a ton of comments and replies, I'm just *so* new that I'm a little confused. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us! :)
Thank you for making this video! I bought a sock loom and the instructions have those pictures to try and show you how to do the stitches but those have never worked for me. Lol. So I appreciate you! 😊
Greetings from France. It is great to discover these different loom stitches. As a beginner, I can't figure out the end result of stitches number 6 to 10. Too bad you don't show a little sample of each. That would have been very helpful too.
Hi, I was wondering how the U wrap is different from the flat stitch. Is it only that it's looser or is there a functional difference because of where the yarn is flipped over? It just seemed that the U wrap ended with the same result as the flat stitch, just using a slightly different method.
@@dionnearroyo Okay, I've been experimenting with this a lot recently, and it seems like they're the same. The flat stitch just comes out a little tighter. What I like to do is just hold the yarn more loosely when a pattern calls for a U stitch. The flat just goes faster for me, so I just hold the working yarn loosely, and if I notice a stitch seems kinda tight, I just tug on it a little with my hook.
I want to make a blanket wi multi colors and change up stitches can I do this? What stitches would be the best to go from the owl stitch and the from that one to next and next maybe a 5 stitch change up with 6 row change up?
Somehow I've been doing the purl stitch wrong, and the hat I'm working on is coming out double-layered. I'll keep going because I'm nearly done now, and it's gorgeous anyway... But now I see my error and I'll do it properly next time! (This hat is only my second project, but I'm already addicted!)
Thankyou so much for sharing with us this video, its really helpful, l' am a beginner and l really love watching you're videos, they are so clear and easy to follow Once again thnx a lot💖🌸
Hi. I know how to loom it on circle loom with the E wrap, stitch pattern. But this is not as descriptive as I wish it could be because I’m blind and I don’t understand. Do you know where I can go and get a very descriptive wave so I can learn different patterns besides the wrap.
Hi - first, I'm happy to know that you want to go beyond the eWrap. That's awesome. I would suggest doing a search for the projects that are of interest and listen to those videos to know if any of them will serve you well. In general people are inconsistent. Where one video may lack enough information for you, another video from the same creator may give you enough. Only you can make that determination for yourself.

Is the true stitch the same as the purl stitch? I’m still confused. I wish, that you show the second row how turned back the different stitches.
