I am only 14 years old and this is my first time ever using a yarn or even a loom I have'nt done anything like this, and your video was soooooooo perfect and beautifully explained, my scarf came out amazing! thank you so much!
I know this is extremely late, but I’ve been looming for many, many yrs & have never seen anyone do the beginning cast for double knitting as you have done. You are absolutely brilliant.❤️ I always disliked looming scarves because trying to crochet the beginning cast on, then trying to pull the waste yarn out was a nightmare. Thanks again. You are a wonderful instructor.
Thank you, even tho I have made several scarfs, I am still learning. Today my mouth flew open when I watched you. Since a car accident, I am homebound and disabled. So I am a sponge for learning new things I always wanted to do. I can sew and make anything, from a wedding dress to making mink blankets but could not get the hang knitting or crochet. I love the scarfs I made but they were only a repeat, repeat, repeat of the same stitch. Now because of your simple thorough direction, I can try a new stitch, I am so excited. I always watch the video twice at least before I start. Then I follow along with the video slowly. Because I want to make sure it looks the same. I watched a video on ten stitches for beginners and I saw the stitch I was using and it was so messy. I want a stitch that looks like it was purchased at a store. I am grateful I found your video. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Just made this scarf today - it turned out quite nice, I think, considering I’m still a novice at loom knitting! Your videos are always so clear and easy to follow; thank you for sharing your patterns & expertise!
I enjoyed this video so much your step by step tutorial was excellent I am brand new to loom knitting and was able to follow this and have a beautiful outcome! Thank you!!
I’m so happy I found your Chanel..my scarf is coming out beautifully and my mom who is awesome at knitting was very proud to see me follow in her steps. Thank you !!!
Just bought a loops & threads knit quick loom set and totally excited to have found your channel. This one is a little complicated for me at the moment but I did think your tutorial was easy to follow. I will be searching your channel for the stitch usually started with on these looms before I go in to fancier stitches. Thanks so much!
I have watched a couple of your videos, you do an excellent job of explaining what you are doing. I am just starting to loom knit so I will see how this comes out. Thank you!
I made a wonderful scarf last year by following your video.. My sister saw the scarf and now she wants me to make her one.... So I am back! Thank you for this upload! It's perfect! I added fringe to my scarf and they look great!
I liked the video. It looks as if you are using a 5/8"loom and bulky yarn. I particularly liked your bind off to match the cast on. There are so many ïncidentials" in loom knitting. Takes a while to keep them all in my head. Thanks for this stitch and your instructions.
Love this video! Beautiful pattern and this is the first video I've seen where someone actually shows a way to tighten a loose cast-on for a scarf on a long loom. I always struggle at the end of scarf projects because of it and now I don't have to!
Thank you for watching. I'll add that I learned how to tighten my cast on like this by watching videos from Kimberly Carrigan and CinDWood Looms. I'm glad this video is helpful.
Very nice tutorial! Very clear. Well done! I’m gonna give it a try! It’s gonna be a long, hot summer! Plenty of knitting time in front of the AC with a glass of sweet ice tea and my Christmas doo list🤠‼️ Thank you, Ms Yarn!
Thank you so much for making this video! It was very easy to follow and gave great tips to solve some of the slack problems I had using other tutorials!
Thank you for the fantastic tips! My first rows were atrocious! And your patterns are great. I’m making my first grandchild’s baby blanket with your double knit crisscross pattern. Had to switch out the original yarn because it was too darn thick and was looking more like a placemat! Thanks!
I'm new to loom knitting and have watched several other tutorials, only to frog the scarf after a few inches because it looked loose and messy. Your video is so easy to follow! I appreciate the way you explain everything so well. I also really liked the fact that you showed how to tighten the first row of loops on the bottom edge. I've never seen that done before. Thank you so much! I think this scarf will be my first completed loom knit item. :)
I was actually just looking for a cast off video but I'm loving that scarf pattern! I will be using this 'entire' video for my next project! Thank you so much for the great tutorial! I found it super helpful! Hope you have a lovely holiday! Can't believe we're already heading into 2022!!! Thanks again!
You are a very good tutorialist. You have a clear voice. Your procedure is slow enough to follow. Not too slow. And your hands never get in the way. And good lighting. I like the crisscross stitch. Are there other stitches on the long loom?
Thanks for the compliments. Other long loom stitches that I like are the rib stitch, honeycomb stitch and star stitch. More beginner stitches would be the zigzag stitch, stockinette stitch and figure 8 stitch. All are on my channel, you can do a search.
I like your video. I'm waiting on my loom to arrive so I can try it. I bought a crochet set but I'm struggling copying from vids because they hide where the hook goes or it's not clear like your video. All I wanted to do was crochet a blanket so because I'm struggling I've decided to knit one instead. I will deffo give this ago though.
I was also confused by the jump from cast-on to pattern but i figured out just to start the figure 8 on the bottom peg instead of top and it then matches with what she does in the rest of the pattern (for odd # of rows), if you dont switch at the beginning it takes more work later because you have to essentially reverse top and bottom rows
Love love love your videos, and enjoyed loom knitting this double criss cross stitch- cool pattern and texture! Can’t wait to make scarves for friends using this stitch. Keep making these amazing videos. Appreciate how you go step by step and clearly explain everything from start to finish. :)
Wow, your video was was fantastic. You demonstrated and explained how to do this pattern so thoroughly that I am inspired to pull out my rake looms and make this project. I appreciated your explanations on casting on and off and how to keep your work from being too tight. Thank you so much for this video. It's one of the best loom knitting videos I have ever watched.
Great pattern! Wonderful instructions. Just wondering if you want a wider scarf what is the ratio of pegs? does it need to be odd number? Thank you for sharing!
I love this stitch I definitely want to try this. My question is how would you change colors more than one. I have pink and grey fuzzy yarn and I would love to do this on the loom but I don’t know how to do this if I’m using two different colors??
I loved your video! I have a problem I a hoping you can help with. I ran out of yarn and tied my knot and then the knot didn’t hold. Since I had to unravel my yarn anyway I went be 10 rows or so to correct another mistake I made. Now I don’t know how to cast back on the loom... Please help!! Thanks so much in advance!!!!
I would suggest unraveling until you see a complete row on the scarf. Then with thin scrap yarn in a different colour, sew upwards on each loop. Start at top left corner and work towards right. Then sew from bottom right corner and work towards left. When you stretch your scarf to put back on the pegs, the scrap yarn will prevent loops from getting undone. You might want to remount the loops starting in the middle, this might help with tension. Good luck!
I just have one question is the right edge and the left edge exactly the same because on the video it looks like one side is wider on one edge, then the other edge. Otherwise I do love it. It’s very pretty and make the scarf over our snowy weekend.
This is my fifth or sixth scarf project using your wonderful videos! I especially appreciate that you include casting on and binding off as well as the stitch instructions. For this pattern, do you have any tips of keeping track which row you are working? I marked the 4th and 3rd pegs with blue stitch markers and the 3rd and 2nd pegs with pink markers and have been trying to keep track of the rows that way. I duplicated one row which is obvious (to me) and will try to hand stitch in corrections when I’m done. Currently, I am writing down what row I just completed so I know what row to start with when I return. Any tips would be appreciated!!
I've never tried with two colours, but feel free to experiment. For a hat, I can't help you directly, but there was a comment from another knitter who suggested using a modified diamond lace stitch for a flat panel, so maybe it can be adapted to knit in the round. Again, I haven't tested it though.
I don't know if it's just me but I have tried now 9 separate times and no matter what I do, when I go to start my criss cross stitches I am not getting the yarn position for peg one bottom but I don't know if it changes cuz you did yours a couple times but it's seriously taking me since 5:00 in the morning until almost 9:00 tonight several times any throwing my limb against the wall but I cannot get the same outcome and I don't know if I'm doing it right or wrong and that's sad because I really liked your voice and your videos over top of everybody else's.
Modified diamond lace stitch scarf, on loom knitting with Joanna. It is a flat single panel. I'm a beginner, but used that tutorial to make 4 Christmas gifts. After two rows, you repeat, just like this one. Working rightward, you do one pattern, working leftward, the other.

Oh I am so happy to hear this. I hope you continue to loom knit. Keep shining!
You have the best video on how to learn. Great instructions ty ❤
Out of all the tutorials about loom knitting, yours is the easiest.
I love this! Every step is clearly demonstrated. And that cast on is genius.
Tightening the cast-on is the best idea ever! Thank you.
I'm glad this is helpful! I learned it from watching variations of this technique from other RUclipsrs.
Just made this scarf today - it turned out quite nice, I think, considering I’m still a novice at loom knitting! Your videos are always so clear and easy to follow; thank you for sharing your patterns & expertise!
You made it - that is wonderful, especially for a beginner. This scarf is a bit tricky.
This is the best explanation, ever, for straight looms! Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
I enjoyed this video so much your step by step tutorial was excellent I am brand new to loom knitting and was able to follow this and have a beautiful outcome! Thank you!!
Wonderful to hear.

Welcome to loom knitting! Hope that it's going well for you.
I just finished my scarf with this pattern, and it's beautiful. Thanks so much.
I have watched a couple of your videos, you do an excellent job of explaining what you are doing. I am just starting to loom knit so I will see how this comes out. Thank you!
Good luck with loom knitting, I hope you like it.
I have just started loom knitting and believe I found a wonderful and knowledgeable teacher. Thank you
I'm glad you discovered loom knitting. Happy knitting!
I made a wonderful scarf last year by following your video.. My sister saw the scarf and now she wants me to make her one.... So I am back! Thank you for this upload! It's perfect! I added fringe to my scarf and they look great!
The fringe idea sounds cool! Glad to hear this video has helped you.
You ARE AWESOME! Thank you for the little tidbits about errors you made and things you learned. I am going to try!
I liked the video. It looks as if you are using a 5/8"loom and bulky yarn. I particularly liked your bind off to match the cast on. There are so many ïncidentials" in loom knitting. Takes a while to keep them all in my head. Thanks for this stitch and your instructions.
Thanks for taking the time to comment, really appreciate it.
Thank you for the detailed explanation ❤
Excellent tutorial. I made a scarf for my granddaughter, my 1st loom project. It's beautiful! Such an easy project.
This is rarely someone's first loom project, so bravo!

This is better than loomahat. Loomahat doesn't do cast on and cast off. Subscribed!

It seems like you're adapting and learning as you progress, which is awesome. Thanks for sharing and for your support.

This is nice to hear. Thank you.
I LOVE this stitch!
Just loved it. I have to make one for myself.
Nice.
It was reeeeeeeeally helpful!!! Thank you so much!!!
I loved the pattern and want to do it on a knit tie. It might take some trial and error to make is smallers, but I bet it'll be worth it.
That sounds very unique! Good luck.

Knitting Afghan
That was good and easy to follow
Beautiful
Great pattern! Wonderful instructions. Just wondering if you want a wider scarf what is the ratio of pegs? does it need to be odd number?
Thank you for sharing!
I was wondering the same thing, and if it can be done with an even peg count?
This is so beautiful!! I adore this pattern so much! Thank you!!

This is such a nice pattern I really wanted to learn but I am mystified since it was already started.
I love this stitch, very pretty!
Thank you!
So neat
Just WOW 🔥
Absolutely lovely!
Thank you.
The magic knot also works get when connecting to ends
I love this stitch I definitely want to try this. My question is how would you change colors more than one. I have pink and grey fuzzy yarn and I would love to do this on the loom but I don’t know how to do this if I’m using two different colors??
I actually have not tried changing colours myself, so you'd have to experiment. Good luck.

This looks amazing. I’m new to looms but want to give this a try… how do you know what size yarn to use? Thank you x
Can you use this stitch with alternating colors (for example like the front is green and back is red)? And can you use this stitch to make a hat?
I've never tried with two colours, but feel free to experiment. For a hat, I can't help you directly, but there was a comment from another knitter who suggested using a modified diamond lace stitch for a flat panel, so maybe it can be adapted to knit in the round. Again, I haven't tested it though.
I use to do it on my fingers making spider web when I was younger😂
Thank you so much!
How can I tell if I’m on row 1 or 2?
I finished row 1 at 06:29 and I finished row 2 at 08:20. Perhaps you can look at these images to help you figure out what you just completed.
Thanks! Was wondering this myself. This was very helpful ❤
I suggest you keep practicing by making small swatches a few times. That will help you cast on, get used to the two-row repeat, and bind off.
This is beautiful!
I was wondering, however, if there was a way to make something similar this design but in a single layer?
Hmm, good question. I don't know which stitch would be the closest.
Modified diamond lace stitch scarf, on loom knitting with Joanna. It is a flat single panel. I'm a beginner, but used that tutorial to make 4 Christmas gifts. After two rows, you repeat, just like this one. Working rightward, you do one pattern, working leftward, the other.
luv it
Making one now and I love this pattern! Does anyone know how to translate it to a round loom, for a matching hat?
Glad you like it! Wish I knew which stitch would match well on a round loom. Maybe another knitter would know?
Awesome ❤️
